Reviews for Hotel San Francesco
Review 1:One big disappointment was the lack of swimming pool. I had selected our hotel for this holiday online using the search filter for "pool", as this was a very important feature to us (small children). When we arrived we found out the pool is only there in the summer and is actually dismantled in the autumn. It had just never even occurred to me that a pool could be a temporary feature.
Review 2:It is a beautiful hotel, just like the pictures, and the location is great, across from the beach, which has lovely cafes and restaurants and a pretty promenade. Staff was helpful in booking tours, and also took care of a few small issues in the room quickly and efficiently. Maiori is also a pleasant little town to walk around, with shops for souvenirs, clothes and food. Good bus connection.
Review 3:I doubt if this is a 4 star hotel. We thought that It deserves modernization.
Review 4:Liked the friendliness of the staff. very helpful and cooperative. The underground parking.
Review 5:None
Review 6:From the start of the day with a great breakfast until the end of the day the hotel was a joy to us. Location is perfect to ferries and bus lines and many restaurants. The hotel has a wonderful restaurant of its own.
Review 7:Small shower in a bathroom large enough to be a single bedroom; minor fault with basin plug; overpriced dinner.
Review 8:Spaciousness of bedroom and reception and terrace areas.
Review 9:In need of a do not disturb sign, we went to breakfast and came back to cleaners in our room whites fine but would have been better to have it left as it was as we were sorting things.
Review 10:Nice hotel, good location, friendly staff
Review 11:Definitely not a 4 star hotel!!! Beds are horribly hard, pillows are unbearably bad. Water power is extremely low, can't flush toilet 2x,only with 20 min break between them. Shower (bathtub-who the hell sits in a bathtub in a hotel?!) is so narrow, couldn't turn around with the low quality shower curtain closed. Breakfast is poor. No vegetables/fruits AT ALL. Only a few raw eggs you can boil for yourself. Or you can order an omlett for 5€!!!!! Beach beds cost 20€/day,no half day price available.
Review 12:Good location,free parking
Review 13:Air conditioning in the room stopped working on two occasions. Spent one night in another room and eventually switched rooms for the last 3 nights of our 10 night stay. Also couldn't understand why the air con in the hotel lobby and lounge was on for just 3 to 4 hours a day when temperatures were in the mid 30s
Review 14:Excellent location overall the hotel was fine and the staff were quick to address any issues
Review 15:Tiny pool on beach Needed to buy hat to swim (1 euro) Had to pay to use beach and sun beds Public beach dirty Not a place to go for a beach holiday Mini suite not worth the extra money
Review 16:Location good view from balcony
Review 17:some of their staff has attitude. not very efficient to give feedback when I asked if i can have refund for checking out one night early. I have asked 3times in 2 days. their answer was "will get back to me later" which they didnt, for 3 times. I had to chase for the answer. when I asked for alternative solutions if can not refund money, they simply said one word"no" for many times, didnt really think for the clients. staff need to improve her English and attitude at same time. when i suggested giving free lunch if can not refund one night room fee, a male staff was pleased to agree, he knows how to think serve for clients.
Review 18:location. view and room facility are nice. not modern and new but clean and nice old fashion style
Review 19:No real bad experience but we found the breakfast staff not friendly at all. But they seemed to be more friendly with other guests. We also found the breakfast was more basic continental. Apart from boiled eggs that you had to make, there was no other hot breakfast food. Coffee and tea was also Luke warm and not very enjoyable.
Review 20:The location of the hotel was brilliant. The reception staff were amazing and absolutely nothing was too much trouble for them. They helped us with a lot of local planning.
Review 21:Not much to do in the area and if you like to spend time out doors you will have to drive to Amalfi or the other towns. It is only a 10 minutes to Amalfi or more to the other towns. You can check distance on any internet map website.
Review 22:It was not in Amalfi but close enough. That made it more affordable and accessible with car. No need to park in a public parking and the parking fee is not bad. The staff was friendly. Can be used as a base for a few days stay in the amalfi coast and explore the other towns by driving there. We found parking very hard when we stayed in other hotels in the Amalfi. The room was clean, comfortable and average in furniture.
Review 23:Great location for relaxed evening strolls without the huge crowds and access to the marina right across the street. On site parking was most welcomed after long drive from Rome. The staff was very helpful and friendly from parking the car to helping us into our rooms with balconies overlooking the sea. Well appointed hotel with very clean and neat rooms of fantastic size.
Review 24:€20 for beach daily which was marked as hotel beach and pool..were never warned or told of this until check out. Also not most informative hot weren't told breakfast times or check out times etc...which aren't that problematic overall great time :)
Review 25:Don't think this is a neg But town closes daily for a period of time (siesta) shops/ everything. Hotel was by far nicest/ most modern in maiori. well situated, lovely balcony view v chilled laid back sleepy place. Authentic Italian experience.:)
Review 26:The manager gave us a ticket for the beach and didn't tell us itwould cost 20 euros a day, so we got the bill at the end of our stay andrealized we were charged when he made it seem like it was free (so didthe beach guy). The girl at the front desk was rude to us the first daywe got there. The bed and pillows were not comfortable. Complimentarybreakfast closed very early, cleaning lady came by at 9 A.M. everymorning...we were on vacation and wanted to sleep in a little.
Review 27:It was really close to the beach, the manager helped us make areservation for the ferry to capri and a local restaurant as well. Theygave us a ocean view room because we told them it was our honeymoon. There is free valet parking.
Review 28:Getting there from Salerno was a bit of a long haul and a problem. Salerno railway station is not the best and the bus ride was uncomfortable. IF you don't like winding narrow roads, I would suggest you take the ferry boat from Salerno instead.
Review 29:The cleanliness was outstanding! The location was great, overlooking the beach, little port and esplanade and a two minute walk to the kiosk that sold ferry tickets for all other locations along the Amalfi coast. Breakfast was good and varied and very fresh every morning. Altogether a very pleasant place to stay and enjoy the surroundings.
Review 30:At check in was whisked off to room with absolutely no info given at all and no info in room - so we had to work it all out as we went along!
Review 31:Room 102 - huge balcony with partial sea view. 5 mins away from Main Street. Private beach just across the road (although see comments re lack of info - still confused about the ticket process for the beach). Pleasant breakfast outside - although one day we had to wait for a table.
Review 32:Hard Mattress, Swimming pool very limited, its in the Bar and eating Area, and must wear swimming Hat!!
Review 33:Very Nice Hotel in a good location close to good Local Restaurants, Pleasant and responsive staff, Good continental breakfast , Beach area just across Road
Review 34:Classic Italian style hotel, very clean, staff very helpful. Excellent situation, just across the road from the beach, private area with pool, sun beds and bar/ food facilities. Resort not as commercialized as Amalfi or Positano, though seafront and beach far bigger, very clean seafront, several small restaurants for evening meals. Perfect situation to see the the beautiful Amalfi coast and Pompeii. Highly recommended.
Review 35:Better room than we expect. Close to beach, bus.
Review 36:Breakfast was poor, coffee was like brown water
Review 37:Very good wi-fi, good location, clean
Review 38:Mon
Review 39:Loved the free wifi and the air conditioning too. Food was good and staff attentive and helpful.
Review 40:Nice and Claas hotel right at the beach
Review 41:The location was away from the intensity of Positano, but closer to Pompeii etc!
Review 42:View
Review 43:Every member of staff gave a 100 % in our opinion I could not fault them in anyway I thank them all for a enjoyable and memorable stay.
Review 44:Our room had a large jacuzzi tub with a shower attachment and it was rather awkward for a shower and left water all over the floor.
Review 45:Spacious room with balcony and a view of the water. Set back from the main road so noise was minimal. The breakfast was plentiful with cakes, breads and meats. You can boil your own eggs.
Review 46:There could be bit better choice for breakfast. The bed sheets wasn't changed each day (I don't care to much, but I would expect that as a standard in 4 stars hotel). Also we need to pay for baby cot. It is in the description of the hotel, but I haven't notice that when I've booked. I would expect that to be free of charge. The road to the city was very narrow, but this was what I've been expecting. We also took the trip by car to Positano - 20 km took like 40-50 minutes ride ;-)
Review 47:Perfect was the city that we've chosen. I would recommended to everyone with small kids. All cities around that we have looked for was not so good. Like Amalfi or Positano that we've visit - those were to rocky. In Maiori there was quite a lot of flat area that you can walk with baby trailer. There is also quite a lot of nice restaurants. In the hotel we did like the sea view and nice balcony. The parking spot was also very good - in the garage under hotel. No need to looking for the parking spot each day (as in different places). Also wi-fi was quite good and available in the room.
Review 48:Limited choice for breakfast and personnel not always friendly. Some rooms have small balcony.
Review 49:Great location close to the private hotel beach and rooms with nice seaview. Good service on the beach.
Review 50:Nothing.
Review 51:A very clean and maintained property in a quiet area near the beach. All staff were friendly and attentive. The breakfast was good. We ate in the restaurant which we found excellant. My wife was unwell when we first arrived and a light snack and icecream as asked for was delivered to our room. Nothing was a problem. Just ask the Management. I would love to come back and stay again.
Review 52:Staff was professional but a bit formal and distant
Review 53:Nice, spacious rom, lovely view from balcony. Exceptionally clean. Everything worked smoothly. Breakfast was varied, both white and brown bread and rolls, and we boiled our own eggs.
Review 54:Great hotel and a fantastic location to explore the Amalfi Coast!
Review 55:The hotel is set back too far from the beach. The location is hardly jewel in the Amalfi coastline.
Review 56:Good parking.
Review 57:Stuff was very official
Review 58:Free parking Located right at the beach
Review 59:Perfect location close to the beach & the centre of the town whichhas a real Italian feel & not too touristy. Good Air Conditioning.
Review 60:Extra charge for beach umbrella and sunbeds
Review 61:Very nice room Free wifi in reception Chiosco bar
Review 62:Shower over the bath too small, curtain sticks like a leach - very poorfor 120 euros b and b
Review 63:Very friendly and efficient staff
Review 64:Close to beach and town centre. Free on site parking which is scarce on Amalfi coast. Free wifi. Spacious room with quality finishes.
Review 65:Breakfast not very good, Maiori has nice seaside but is not the nicest village of the Amalfi coast
Review 66:Nice hotel, right on the beach, staff was polite
The Fine Print
Please note that beach service (sun umbrellas and loungers) comes at extra charge.
