Reviews for Hotel Dora
Review 1:No air con could be a problem for some, but the fans were fine for us. Nothing to do any washing up with. Slightly old and musty ( flipside of the 'character')
Review 2:This was a fantastic apartment separated from the main hotel. It was very spacious for a family of five and really oozed character with lots of interesting furniture, decoration, pictures and books. The balconies were brilliant for sitting and watching the sun come up and go down, as well as watching the world go by (the apartment is above a supermarket, which means lots of coming and going down below, which was interesting for us, but might be noisy for others).
Review 3:The beds were itchy, and not actually proper beds. There were just fold out sofas. The room was small and smelt of vomit. The breakfast was really bad, but flies in the meat container and disgusting "juice" which tastes like petrol. Was not plesant.
Review 4:Location was ok. Parking facilities were ok also.
Review 5:The owner made a big fuzz about the parking. We asked if te car could stay 2-3 hours after check out. It was early in the day and lots of free parking space, but we were asked to move the car at once. Terrible service after having stayed for three days. It was not possible to do the dishes properly in our kitchen. Some of the cups were dirty when we arrived, not surprised about that.
Review 6:Small room but worked for us. Not in the room a lot anyway.
Review 7:The staff was excellent - very helpful. Rooms were clean, air conditioning worked well. Very close to beach, town, and the train station.
Review 8:Clean room, nice shower, friendly and helpful staff, big breakfast buffet, good location - 5 min walk to the station and 5 - 10 min walk to the beach, through the town centre.
Review 9:If wifi is important to you, you should know there's a wine bar down the street that has free wifi and there is also an internet cafe. The ability to get wifi at the hotel was almost impossible. We stayed for 2 days and the only time I was able to access the internet without getting kicked back off within 3 minutes was when I woke up at 4:30 in the morning. I was searching for a hotel for the next leg of our trip. Even then it let me search but when I tried to book, my computer told me I had no internet connection. I went to the lobby one day to see if that would improve my chances of connecting. In the lobby I met others with the same idea. In the end none of us were able to connect.
Review 10:The front desk was friendly, and the rooms were basic but clean. The hotel is getting a bit tired looking but everything functioned fine.
Review 11:Room was minuscule by any standard even if we asked for a king room, we literally couldn't fit 2 open suitcases in the room around the bed There is no way to describe how uncomfortable the beds were, I barely slept at all and woke up with a sore back. I'm usually pretty easy on bed quality too Noisy and not sound proofed No climate control - we were told it was still too cold outside, which was reasonable enough, but our room was quite toasty and the only way to get air in was to open a door on to a common veranda at night... Wifi/connection wasn't good at all although that's not a huge thing on its own Hotel is very dated, like it was one really fancy but never got updated in 40 years This is not a dump, but it was disproportionately expensive for the facilities and the comfort was bad beyond forgiveness.
Review 12:Amazingly helpful and friendly staff Ok breakfast Clean (as in everyday clean, but there are some signs of ware such as rust stains et al) Location
Review 13:The beds were hard (kind of normal for Europe though), and the room was freezing without heat and cold nights in April.
Review 14:Levanto was a great base for seeing Cinque Terre, and this hotel was in a great location in town. Easy walking distance to the beach and the train station. Free parking was also nice. Apartment #2 was huge, with 3 bedrooms and beds for 7 people.
Review 15:Small bathroom but nothing to not like about this quaint hotel
Review 16:Lady Owner of Hotel was AWESOME and fun even though spoke limited English. Breakfast and Dinner (set menu) was great.. Location was fantastic (close to train to travel to Cinque Terre) Parking was ample. Short walk to beach places to eat. Open Balcony area. Late check-out (looked after bags, car and car parking whilst explored Cinque Terre)
Review 17:The shower was in the bath with no shower curtain hence water flooded the floor making it a hazard and in fact I slipped and hurt my lower back. We has to sit in the bath to shower. Also the bath/shower tap was difficult to use.
Review 18:The apartment was very spacious. The apartment was clean and the location very good.
Review 19:Good location. The rooms were simple but the rest of the hotel was very nice. Lovely terrace. Breakfast buffet had a good range of choices. We only had one night in Levanto but we plan on coming back again and would definitely stay at Hotel Dora again.
Review 20:The hallway on our floor smelt like someone had died or meat had gone rotten. Lift had air fresheners. Management couldn't speak English when I complained about it. Top dollar for a smelly, small dump in need of renovation and new management .
Review 21:Handy location and the receptionist staff member was pleasant and helpful.
Review 22:If you go out late they do lock up the entire hotel. To get inside you must unfortunately, wake some up to come open up.
Review 23:I absolutely loved the location. Very close to everything and the beach. The breakfast was delicious full of lots of pastries, cakes, eggs and salami...and lots more. The rooms are simple but clean. My friends and I loved this hotel and location that we ended up booking another night while staying there. There is also a beautiful roof top with lots of deck chairs where you can go enjoy the sun - if there at the right time of the year of course.
Review 24:Beds are VERY firm, and the Apartment did not have internet but with the fans they had in the room it was very comfortable to sleep....Also the neighbors that surround where the hotel is located are very noisy at night BUT if you close the Rolladens and have the fan on it drowns them out.
Review 25:Hotel is SUPER close to the water, Shopping, food and train, Staff was VERY helpful. Told the the internet wasn't working they fixed it right away..asked for an additional fan for the Apartment and they found us one. Would LOVE to stay here again and would totally recommend staying here.
Review 26:The beds were quite firm. We are used to a little softer mattress. However, we were so active during the day that we slept good regardless!
Review 27:The morning breakfasts were varied and the automatic espresso machine was wonderful. Later when the kitchen was closed, the staff made an excellent espresso on the upstairs La Cimbali machine.
Review 28:Little bit older furniture, small parking.
Review 29:Very friendly staff, hotel is on the quiet place, not far from the beach and centre of town. Good relation value/price.
Review 30:On our arrival day the kitchen and lounge floors felt grubby. It did get a bit stuffy at night as I closed the windows to try and insulate the apartment from outside street noise. Some fans would be good. Other than this I was happy with our stay at Hotel Dora.
Review 31:Location was good almost half way between the train and ferry. We stayed in 2 bedroom apartment across the road. Our family of 5 stayed 3 nights. Beds were made each day and towels changed. Washing machine was handy. Our 3 children (11, 10 and 5 years old) had the bedroom off the street unlike ours which faced the street. The apartment is above a mechanic workshop which concerned me but they did not make much noise. Supermarkets are close by with the closest less than 2 min walk. Wifi seemed to be restricted to the lounge area and 5 connections (1 each for our family). It is an older apartment but has a comfy homely feel almost like you could be a Grandma's house.
Review 32:Dated interior and uncomfortable bed

Review 35:Good location and good value.

Review 42:Wifi was not good/not working.
Review 43:Central location and good prize. Clean room and very friendly personell. Free parking.
Review 44:No air conditioning- noisy at night as had to leave windows open
Review 45:Central location and supermarket underneath
Review 46:Very convenient location...near Train station and beach
Review 47:Location and parking
Review 48:Convenient to everything, across the street from a grocery store, good breakfast and comfortable rooms!
Review 49:Location and Staff
Review 50:Very good position and close to eating places, a very good supermarket across the road, and just one train stop for Cique Terre villages!!
Review 51:it was nice appartment..i booked for total 4 of my friends..its really big, neet and near to beach and railway station
Review 52:Good location. The apartment we rented was spacious, well appointed, very comfortable bed. Quiet in the evening. Very nice staff.
Review 53:Fair to mediocre food selection for breakfast
Review 54:Large and very clean bathroom, plus excellent location. Very friendly proprietor and staff.
Review 55:Small room
Review 56:Staff Breakfast Close to rail station
Review 57:Rooms were outdated, very small, tiny bathrooms, & uncomfortable beds, mattresses, & hard rock pillows
Review 58:Location & staff was friendly
Review 59:Location Breakfast Room size Helpfulness of staff
Review 60:Lighting was too fluorescent. Bedcovers seem worn, not clean, but not apparent stains or odd smells.
Review 61:Big, roomy kitchen and outdoor eating space.
Review 62:This hotel provided a relaxing base for our adventures in the Cinque Terra. We especially enjoyed the spacious front porch.
Review 63:No outlook from any of the windows ...
Review 64:Lots of space and great value for money. Easy to explore the area from here
Review 65:Very small shower and bathroom but spotless. A little noisy but we slept with air con on and windows shut and that helped.
Review 66:Owner just wonderful, very welcoming and helpful. Great location, close to train restaurants and waterfront.
Review 67:We had a great stay at Hotel Dora. It was conveniently located near the train station and town. Levanto is very lovely. While in Levanto we wanted to explore Cinque Terre. You can easily take a train from Levanto to any of the 5 villages. We had a rental car and hotel Dora provided parking which was one reason why we choose to stay in Levanto.
Review 68:Great, clean apartment (although the decor was outdated) that could have slept eight. Easy walk to train one way and beach the other. Proprietor was warm and welcoming and spoke at least three languages. It was a great launching point for Cinque Terre.
Review 69:We received a very warm welcome and all the staff were very helpful and friendly. the meals were delicious, everything was prepared in the kitchen to Ligurian recipes and the pasta was fabulous! The Dora was approximately 5 mins from a pretty, sandy beach with great swimming and about 7 mins walk from the station with frequent trains to the Cinque Terre villages, the first 4 minutes away, and the others 4 minutes apart. We had a fantastic holiday and hope to return!
Review 70:There was nothing to dislike about this place. It ticked all the boxes.
Review 71:The way nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Ideal place, close to the station which is only one station away from Cinque Terre.
Review 72:There is an air cond in the room but they kept put it on and off during the night! A bit annoying! A bit freezing the first day and I went to the reception to ask about it and they gave me a small heater!
Review 73:Good location, car parking and a big breakfast!
Review 74:Central location. Close to train stn and beach. Staff very helpful. nice breakfast Provided gluten free bread. Bar service was good. wine was Good price and peanuts were served .parking lot was across the street and very convenient.
Review 75:Breakfast was very ordinary. A wide choice but a good up of cappuccino and a fresh roll would have been more to our choice.
Review 76:Location was good and common facilities very nice. A very acceptable hotel for the price.
Review 77:The Wi-Fi was limited to a small area in the public rooms.
Review 78:The breakfast Buffet, the comfortable beds, the location being just off the centre & quiet but close to the station, local economy supermarket & easy to drive into with car parking. Ability to close shutters to keep out light on summer nights. Tastefully furnished & comfortable good size public rooms & balcony area with small bar to suit every mood & weather. The room furniture is old world style & basic but generous & functional for a 3 star & allows for Very Good value for money.
Review 79:Hotel Dora is excellent value. The staff are very helpful. The buffet style breakfast has good quality and variety.Very good location and has car parking facility.Highly recommend Hotel Dora.
Review 80:Price for what it is, however given we were there in July it is peak time so you have to pay. Would certainly not be paying high price for it in off peak, when it should be good value.
Review 81:Location was good beside everything, especially the market Breakfast was good and one of the better ones we received on our trip around Italy.
Review 82:Great location with excellent train and boat access to the five communities in Cinque Terre. Also, a good beach destination in itself. Hotel clean and attractive with rare car parking in the Cinque Terre area.
Review 83:- staff always disturbed us for cleaning the room. it was really disturbing to see the cleaning lady in the middle of the room when u woke up
Review 84:+ breakfast was good + location was really good easy to find + huge parking place for car + easy to arrive to city center or beach
Review 85:We had a poor experience at the hotel resturant on our first night and ate out on the other nights we were in Levanto.
Review 86:Quiet relaxing hotel with outdoor areas to relax and enjoy your time. Very convienient location.
Review 87:The hotel was really old, wasn't too clean and facilities were at abare minimum. Lobby Wifi is no longer of this age and breakfast was verylimited. Definitely not worth the 120 euro's a night. The airconditioning unit wasn't even attached to power. The lcd tv was puton top of the 2.20m high wardrobe, so you actually couldn't reallywhat was on tv when you were lying on the bed.
Review 88:Pretty much in the city centre, convenient with parking.
Review 89:The free wi-fi is only in the living room, but this wasn't too big of a deal.
Review 90:Very homey, and nice, simple base from which to explore Cinque Terre. Walking distance to Levanto train station through a nice, safe neighborhood. Good, hearty breakfast to get you going with your day.
Review 91:the lady at the front desk was psycho, the beds were hard as a rock, and it was not clean, breakfast was gross
Review 92:Wifi
Review 93:Staff is very helpful and this hotel is spotless. Very plain rooms but comfortable and ours had a balcony!
Review 94:To leave
Review 95:Clean accommodating good service Central location Good facilities
Review 96:Did not have wifi in the room, have to use it in the lobby.
Review 97:Near by the train station. Safe and quiet neighborhood. Breakfast room is spacious.
Review 98:location was good, little hard to find at first, then great, close to train and shopping and resturants.
Review 99:Family run, and homely. Great food, at very reasonable cost. Great service at all times.
Review 100:Nothing
Review 101:Air - con Free WIFI Terrace in the evening Friendly and accomodating staff
Review 102:It was not an elegant hotel but very quaint and friendly.
Review 103:Friendly atmosphere, superb cleanliness, location was fine but not on the beach.
Review 104:Needs some renovation. Stoned floor in the room.
Review 105:Location from see and train station to discover Cinqueterre.
Review 106:Breakfast food and staff really poor
Review 107:Location was great
