Reviews for Joys Accommodation

Review 1:This property does not at all deserve the bad reviews it got from some travellers. We arrived expecting the worst and were really surprised. The house and the furniture may be old but that does not necessarily mean that the property is dirty. Quite on the contrary: We found our room and bathroom to be extremely clean. We really enjoyed our stay and would always come back!

Review 2:Emergency lighting in bedroom & bathroom permanently on. No glass for drinking water, no toiletries except hand wash soap, no tea/coffee making stuff

Review 3:Location & cleanliness

Review 4:Value for money was non-existent. Exorbitant prices. €60 a night with no breakfast. Had requested early check-in- didnt get it. Fobbed off by manager on the day. Would not recommend it.

Review 5:Location

Review 6:I thought there was breakfast And had to look around the town For an early coffee.. If they recommended some where that opened early.

Review 7:Price as a business traveller I need inexpensive accommodation During peak tourist season.

Review 8:We stayed here for 1 night and left very early in the morning as fast as our feet could carry us. It was a complete nightmare. The room was grubby with mismatched soft furnishings. Lose furniture was used to make up a whole suite. The shower head in the filthy, old, bathroom was held in place with a piece of rusty wire. The shower tray is crying for a replacement. We paid 60 euro for a sleepless night! The room is totally different from the picture posted by the management. Totally dissatisfied!

Review 9:The wifi signal dropped out after a couple of minutes the entire second day. It happens.

Review 10:While the place is up a hill, the trek from downtown is quick. I stayed in room 4 which had a separate queen, a bunk bed of Queen and single beds, a microwave, a Tub!, and a Fridge! No hot plate, but probably could have used the kitchen downstairs. The area is very quiet. One note for sleepers who require total darkness. The curtains are good, but each room has emergency lighting that emits a green glow on the floor at all times.

Review 11:We stayed in the top floor family room. Because it is on the top floor, the WiFi signal was very week. Beware that the ceiling is low at many spots in this room. I am not even 6 feet tall and I hit my head multiple times, including going into the bathroom. Also, upon checking in I was informed that they did not take credit cards and I would have to prepay for the room in cash. A detail I was unaware of when booking.

Review 12:Kinsale is only a few steps away. The building is on a quiet street that enables you to get into the heart of Kinsale in only a few minutes.

Review 13:Dirty linens, dirty floors, moldy towels. Had a kitchenette but no way to clean any dish, no soap, no sponge not even a paper towel. If the owner would just care a little bit by using new linens and giving the place a good scrub this wouldn't be half bad.

Review 14:Location to town was good

Review 15:It was not clean. We were asked for a Euro10 deposit for the key, returnable on return. The hot water did not work. Very over-prices for the level of hotel.

Review 16:The the room was not very clean, including the beds, bathroom and kitchen. Some of the kitchenware had clearly been left in the cupboards after having been used (lipstick on glasses etc). The beds had hair and other debris on them. There was a green light that you couldn't turn off on the ceiling and there were no blinds on the windows making it hard to sleep from all the light.

Review 17:The location was perfect, a short 5 minute walk to the center of town. The cost of the room was reasonable.

Review 18:Doesn't accept credit/laser card. Difficult to find someone for checkout in the morning to had the key in.

Review 19:It was very reasonably priced. Nothing fancy about the place, in fact the room is kind of old fashioned which I thought was cool. Very nice people there!

Review 20:We were assigned the attic room which involved a lot of stairs. Not suitable for people with mobility challenges. No breakfast available in-house.

Review 21:Quiet night, inexpensive, parking easily available. Coffee shops nearby so breakfast was not a problem. Pubs just great!

Review 22:There was a bright green light that we were unable to turn off and it shone all night like a laser beam. A hairdryer would have been helpful as there was torrential rain while we were staying.

Review 23:Kinsale is a beautiful place with many great restaurants and quaint places.

Review 24:No wi-fi but to be fair we didn't even ask whether there was any wi-fi access - so our own fault.

Review 25:1 minute walk from Kinsale Centre, extremely quiet and we have no complaints whatsoever. Great value for money - you only have to get a quote from a nearby hotel or B&B to realise what you are getting

Review 26:It's not a B&B.It's a B.There is no breakfast. We thought we were getting a bargain B&B but really it was a more expensive hostel.

Review 27:There was somewhere for us to hang up wet gear and the room was spacious.

Review 28:This budget accommodation deserves 10 out of 10 in every aspect. Although there was a pale green light in the ceiling , it did not disturb me as I sleep with my eyes closed. The friendly owner told me this was a costly compulsory Regulation imposed by Cork County Council. “ people need to cut her some slack about green light, it's a health and safety issue, I have stayed in places where the water was unsafe to drink and there were no fire extinguishers on upper floor much worse than little green light at least Joy takes safety seriously

Review 29:My room had a green LED light right above the bed. It was like a laser beam onto my duvet. When I turned out all the lights it was still bright. Apparently it was the elf 'n safety wot dun it, though never had this anywhere else in my life. You'd think it would keep me awake but no: after cleverly strapping a blocker over it with my belt, what actually kept me awake was the road noise and parties on the street until about 2am. Also 65 euro was pretty steep, though I think Kinsale has high regard for itself. I stayed in much nicer places, in better accommodation, for less during my trip around the Wild Atlantic Way.

Review 30:Staff were good

Review 31:Parking outside the house is a no no but to no fault of Joy's accommodation. Beware of angry neighbors!

Review 32:A group of 5 of us traveled to Kinsale for the 7's tournament, and found our stay at Joy's accommodation just perfect. Joy and Kevin were fantastic and very accommodating to our needs, both before and during our stay. The location of the house was excellent, in a nice quiet area yet only 3 minutes walk from the centre of the town. Checking in was very swift, and we were shown to our room straight away, which was nice and spacious considering there were five girls staying there (Multiple Bags). The beds were comfortable and clean, with nice feathered duvets and plenty of pillows. It was the perfect place to rest your head for a couple of days.

Review 33:The wifi was not very strong and the toilet was outside the room.

Review 34:The hotel is next to town.5 mins walking. kevin, the receptionist, was kind, friendly and very helpful. The room was ok, clean and tidy. I would recommend it absolutely.

Review 35:No facilities at all, ie, Television, soap in bathroom. Furniture in a very poor state. At 50 euros a night a very poor advert for Kinsale. Never to be recommended.

Review 36:no Easter eggs (only kidding Joy and co.)

Review 37:Loved the house. Very friendly and helpful Staff. especially Warren, Spotlessly clean and warm. “ even picked up beauty tips from owner who looks amazing for her age :) No negatives.

Review 38:Nothing to dislike as such but they need stronger wifi signal although the present wifi set up is being corrected thanks to the manager putting in extra signal enhancers.

Review 39:The new rooms were cosey and quiet. Great atmosphere and the owner is putting life back into the decor, (recently renovated apparently). Love the art! Perfect location as the pubs and shops near by but the the B&B is tucked away in a quiet street. NICE PLACE!

Review 40:leaving :)

Review 41:Joy herself was great, the rest of her staff too, it came highly recommended and wasn't disappointing, inexpensive for the comfort, right in centre of town.

Review 42:Joy's is very different from the booking description. For the cost, I felt we should of had a ensuite and a kitchenette. The communal kitchen was unclean and as a whole the house was extremely cold.we found slugs on the kitchen counters and floors.there was construction during the Morning and night which was inconvienant. The management staff were not professional.

Review 43:Not a bad location, large room

Review 44:green fire exit light directly over bed. I could not sleep over it. Also no bath towels in shower and had to buy some after paying for room,We did not receive towels until later that evening

Review 45:Location perfect

Review 46:Nice friendly staff , for a hostel it was spotlessly clean , price was great so couldn't complain , overall just a great experience

Review 47:Great location, very reasonable price.

Review 48:Noise/decor/everything

Review 49:Nothing

Review 50:Lack of parking. Especially in a neighborhood setting.

Review 51:Funky, but clean. Joy was an excellent hostess. Lots of stairs. On street parking a problem.

Review 52:No tv

Review 53:In and out no fuss

Review 54:The reception was somewhat rude. The reception area was in chaos.

Review 55:That I couldn't stay longer.

Review 56:Joys was a joy.

Review 57:Good location. Cozy room.

Review 58:More like a hostal than B&B. Clean but had shared bathroom that could have done with a more thourough clean

Review 59:Everything

Review 60:joy's guest house was a lot of fun, and she was very accommodating.

Review 61:Really Bad odour in bathroom. Stale smelling

Review 62:Smellly, dirty, unkempt.

Review 63:Other guests movements were pretty audible, however, it is a quiet place so it wasn't a disruption.

Review 64:Very clean.

Review 65:Spacious rooms with en-suite bathrooms Short walk to centre of Kinsale tourist strip

Review 66:The lady/owner of the place wasn't helpful at all. You get what you pay.

Review 67:Perfect location

Review 68:Wood floors are noisy! No views! (so what!)

Review 69:Price, location (near centre of Kinsale), cleanliness, Joy

Review 70:Dirty, poor value, sketchy wifi, no toiletries,

Review 71:Hard to find originally.

Review 72:The self-catering aspects were unexpected and a full shared kitchen was available.

Review 73:Dirty rooms ,cold water noise rooms No value x money at all my guest hated it

Review 74:The position is the only good think

Review 75:No Tea or Coffee facilities. Not enough toilet paper left in the room.

Review 76:The location was ideal

Review 77:Couple next door talking until 4 am. Floor noisy.

Review 78:Bed was comfortable, room spacious, tea making facility,

Review 79:Towels and the price.

Review 80:Clean and adequate.
