Hotel Al Terra Di Mare

Hotel Al Terra Di Mare descritpion
Situated above Levanto, the door to the Cinque Terre, Al Terra di Mare is an eco-friendly and solar-powered property built in the style of a Ligurian hamlet, surrounded by vineyards and olive-trees. Rooms have free Wi-Fi and air conditioning.
Instead of corridors, there are narrow streets, which lead to a bar area called La Piazzetta. The outdoor swimming pool is open during summer, and drinks and ice cream are available at the poolside.
Offering an independent entrance, each room features a private bathroom with shower. Breakfast is a varied buffet of fresh local food, and it is served on the communal terrace overlooking the sea.
Some rooms offer panoramic views of the valley, and some of the sea. Some rooms have a private balcony or terrace.
Hotel Al Terra Di Mare is one mile from Levanto center and the train station, and one mile from the Ligurian sea. The property offers free parking, and can provide a shuttle service to the beach, the center and the station.

Reviews for Hotel Al Terra Di Mare
Review 1:A little far from the center of town, but the hotel shuttle made it easy to get around. The views are spectacular and the hotel is very nice. Staff are very helpful and great breakfast.
Review 2:We found the property to be misrepresented online - the shuttle service is limited to only one free trip per day and you must scheduled in advance, there was no coffee available anywhere on the property until breakfast was served, which was very inconvenient for the early risers, and the views were basically non-existent. Our "vineyard" view was awful - the vineyard hadn't been used in years and had a huge electrical lines and poles. The room decorations were uninspired, our toilet seat was broken (which I ended up fixing), and the internet was incredibly slow. We left a day early (losing money on that last day) and yet the facility still charged us for an extra shuttle trip although we weren't even there to use our "free" trip for the day we paid for but had left the property. Pretty awful customer service.
Review 3:The staff was kind and we enjoyed meeting the other travelers.
Review 4:- Breakfast was mediocre: prepacked jams in a place surrounded by orchards and where home made jams abound; - inflexible shuttle service; - no restaurant in hotel
Review 5:beautiful view quiet area
Review 6:we were given a pool towel which we were told we had to keep for four days and you could not get a fresh one. I have never heard this in all my time of traveling. The hotel offered no lunch or dinner but still charged for the short transfer to town. Breakfast was not good but even though people want to walk early they would not accommodate you and open before 8am. Parking garage was designed badly and I saw two different guests bump their cars. They even charged for this shocking facility. The pool area is far from hotel but yet still has a list of rules clearly catering for school children. This facility also closed far too early. Air conditioners in both our rooms did not work and they had to constantly come and fix them. The room fridges were also not cold at all. Overall it was a shocking hotel!!!
Review 7:The only thing we liked was the view.
Review 8:Charge for shuttle per room should be complimentary as the charge for accommodation is on the high side.
Review 9:Location, friendly staff, complete tourist information, pool, breakfast good variety
Review 10:No food available aside from breakfast. There is no nearby alternative so if you want lunch and dinner you have to go into town twice a day.
Review 11:very pleasant, helpful and friendly staff; extremely well maintained and clean; very good quality produce served at breakfast with lots of choice.
Review 12:The hotel is on a hill 2 km above the city. It takes half an hour to walk to the city and you need a shuttle to come back (too steep a climb to be practical). The shuttle is available in the morning until 11:30 and then it starts again at 5:00 p.m. and I believe it runs every hour until 11:00.You have to reserve an hour ahead of time. This means that you have to plan your every move. The hotel does not serve lunch or dinner. So, if you miss the 11:30 shuttle your options are to walk to the city (it was 38 Celsius while we were there) or to skip lunch. Also, the shuttle costs 10€ return/per room. This is why I gave "Location" a low score. You are fairly secluded and your freedom of movement is quite limited. The hotel does not seem to be aware of these limitations. For instance, they would not leave complimentary water bottles in the room for the evening. If the nearest convenience store requires a 10 euro shuttle trip leaving a couple of small bottles of water is the least you could do.We paid extra for the sea view. Well the view was a small and distant bluish image visible only if you stand in front of one window. 20 euros for that seemed rather excessive. The pool is on the small side and there were only 12 chairs around it. And no space to add more. We tried to swim but all the chairs were already taken. We could not get the lady at the reception to take an interest in the math problem they had: the hotel has 31 rooms so even if you don't count the children that means 62 adults staying. Subtract 12 chairs and that means you have 50 adults out of luck. The Wi Fi signal was very weak. To load any site required a five minute wait. After a few attempts we gave up on using my laptop to get more info on Cinque Terre villages. The other issue we had was the lack of information about various activities in town. We were only told about the official boat line to the villages and the train schedule.
Review 13:Our room was spacious (though it is supposed to be their best room and we paid a premium). Breakfast was decent and the staff looking after breakfast clients were very nice. The bed was comfortable.
Review 14:None.
Review 15:Peace and quiet location a few km from Levanto city center. There is a short walk to the pool which is not for noisy children playing around. The staff were so sweet and really informative with respect to 5-terre national park. Loved the view from the breakfast terrasse.
Review 16:The bed was very hard. The breakfast was good quality, but not enough vegetables and gluten free bread was nothing special just white bread. No way to tell to room service that the room should not yet be cleaned.
Review 17:Enough food in breakfast; clean and tidy; excellent shuttle service to Levanto station and Levanto centre; quiet place; no need for own car
Review 18:The rules. We know they are there in order to keep it looking as nice as it does, but there were some that stepped over the line of being a bit limiting.
Review 19:The rooms, location, shuttle to Levanto, the view, pool, breakfast. Excellent coffee! The desk staff was wonderful--they arranged a great sailing trip for us and were very helpful as we sorted our hike in the CT.
Review 20:We loved everything about this hotel - the only issue is to get your self organized between shuttle snd train schedules is initially a challenge - but everything else made up for it so not an issue!
Review 21:-Breakfast is decent, but it would be nice to have something hot like scrambled eggs or baked beans -No lunch/dinner service -Cost for using shuttle, even though hotel is far from city center -My wife would also say she didn't like the hotel's dog roaming the hotel freely
Review 22:-Great staff -Nice Pool -Beautiful location -Nice property -Peaceful
Review 23:It was very convenient having the shuttle bus. All the staff were extremely helpful. Would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to friends and family.
Review 24:Nothing
Review 25:Amazing place to stay if you don't want the noise and crowds of the villages. Easy to get to train station and shuttle bus to take you into Levento where there is a small beach and plenty of beautiful restaurants. We had 2 good light dinners at the hotels restaurant looking over some of the best views Cinque Terre had to offer
Review 26:Contrary to description, this hotel is far from the beach and from Levanto. It is halfway up a mountain with a great view from one side and a sad view of a Fiat factory on the other side. The pool is halfway down the mountain - pretty scuzzy! Breakfast appalling! Boiled egg, after shelling, was olive green inside! I was told that this is "normal for a boiled egg" (may be true if boiled last year!). The bottom of the cereal bread was covered in mould - I was told not to worry it was just "cake sugar" !! The manager was rude, unpleasant and inflexible. There were four enthusiastic adults in our party - all doctors - we were equally disappointed.
Review 27:Not a lot! The rooms were clean.
Review 28:Small family owned and operated hotel in a beautiful hillside setting. Only 10 years old. We had a very spacious room with sea views. Staff couldn't have been more helpful. Terraced areas to sit and enjoy the hills. Cold dinners available in the evening, and hot or cold drinks served out on the terrace later in the night. Shuttle bus to take you to the city centre, beach and station. Levanto much less busy than other towns on the Cinque Terra. Just the place to unwind and breathe fresh air.
Review 29:Calm, clean and personal attention...The hotel was calm even if it was busy. The room and public area was spotless. The personal was always trying to help.
Review 30:The hotel has a shuttle into Levanto but what they don't tell you is that the shuttle will cost 5 Euro per person each trip and it does not run between 11:00am and 5:00pm. The hotel does not offer any food other than breakfast and they will charge you for every coffee & bottle of water. The place did not feel very welcoming.
Review 31:The view from this hotel is lovely and the rooms are spacious and very clean. It is a very quiet place.
Review 32:Although the bus service to town was free during my stay, the final trip to town was charged at E5. With the rather high room rate, the bus service should be free. If you are driving, the access road is extremely steep. I did expect the hotel to be closer to the sea - especially when viewing the image provided on the website.
Review 33:The mountain location was good once I got used to the fact that it was certainly not within walking distance from the town or railway station - beware of this when booking. The buffet breakfast was excellent. The terrace for breakfast was breathtaking. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The bedroom and bathroom were spotless.
Review 34:This is an impeccably maintained property. The staff were welcoming and accomodating . The views were gorgeous and the breakfast buffet was fresh and well presented. We were very fortunate to get a room at a days notice and two of the staff stayed up to await our late arrival due to traffic in Firenze . I asked that a bottle of prosecco be left in our room which they provided without question on ice when we arrived. Levanto was a beautiful little beachside town lacking the pretense and crowds of the other italian riviera towns. We loved it. The shuttle service to town was very convenient though we didnt need it because we had a car and besides the walk to the train or beach is only 3 or 4 kilometres. Attention to detail here is impressive . More like staying at a generous friends estate then a hotel .
Review 35:If you not have a car you can use the hotel shuttle for 5E per trip - you get 2 free per day if you arrive by train. Not perfect and times are a bit limited. Staff is efficient but could certainly improve on friendliness and assistance. On a 1-10 scale I would say staff is a 6+ (10 being best)
Review 36:Room was very nice private and very clean. Levanto is a good location for the area activities. Town is nice and not the zoo of the 5T towns.
Review 37:I was not so impressed by the selection of breakfast. Missed scrambled/cooked eggs, bacon for example. They had eggs that were cold! Should have been tea/coffee facilites in the rooms. This is a four star hotel...
Review 38:This hotel was a nice hotel. The staff was friendly. Rooms were clean and had a good view.
Review 39:Though we loved the remote hillside location of the hotel for its beauty and quiet, it was not practical to walk to town because the roads leading to the hotel are not pedestrian friendly. The complimentary shuttle is prompt, and the drivers are courteous, but you are held to a schedule. If walking was more convenient, we would have enjoyed more flexibility in planning our trips to and from town. Not a criticism of the hotel itself, just the reality of the location.
Review 40:The warm, friendly, and helpful staff. The beauty of the views from the terrace. The cleanliness and quality of the rooms and amenities.
Review 41:There are not very many restaurants close to the hotel, so you have to take the shuttle or drive.
Review 42:Beautiful hotel! The staff were wonderful. They were very helpful with all our needs. The property is on a hill outside of Levanto, but the hotel offers a shuttle (5 euro charge each way) from the hotel to/from the train station or downtown. This was very handy at night when we wanted to enjoy dinner. Breakfast was very good, the rooms were clean, big, and nice. The Hotel has a good view of the mountains and the water. A good place to go for a getaway. Plenty of free parking.
Review 43:Très calme et très propre. Belle décoration. Personnel accueillant et prompt à répondre à nos questions de "touristes". Je recommande fortement ce charmant hôtel.
Review 44:We had trouble finding the hotel. At the last turn of the road from town, there is no sign at the intersection. The sign doesn't appear until you have already turned onto the correct road if you have managed to find it.
Review 45:This family run hotel is sparkling new and very well planned for the comfort of guests. The staff is very nice and helpful, multilingual. Rooms are large and pleasant, with good privacy. The terraces with great views down to the ocean have vine shaded sections and many small tables on the large sunny main patio. You can enjoy the fabulous breakfasts indoor or out. The infinity pool was lovely after a day in the Cinque Terre Park. The driveway is steep, but easy, and parking is plentiful in their garage or terrace. If you don't have a car, they have frequent shuttles into town. We stayed a week, and loved every minute.
Review 46:There wasn't anything I didn't like. I gave location a lower score because it is a bit away from the town, but the hotel provided free hourly shuttle service so it wasn't a problem.
Review 47:The staff was so accommodating and friendly. The breakfast was the best we had on our entire European trip! The hotel was beautiful with many nice outdoor sitting areas.
Review 48:The only drawback is that the hotel does not have a full restaurant.
Review 49:The room is spacious with terracotta floor befitting the Italian Riviera setting. Windows open to gorgeous view. Short ride from the railway station and just outside Cinque Terre. Staff is down to earth, friendly and helpful. There is ample parking space.
Review 50:The beds were a bit uncomfortable.
Review 51:The villa was gorgeous with multiple terraces and a great view for a glass of wine at sunset! The staff were fantastic - they responded patiently to all of our questions, gave us great service at the bar and restaurant. The location is a perfect base for exploring the region.
Review 52:At first I didn't like that the hotel was 1 mile from the train to the five towns of Cinque Terre. But, they have a shuttle. We parked at the train station and paid for the day.
Review 53:It was away from the maddening crowds, but not so far away - one mile from the train station to take you to the five towns of Cinque Terre. The staff was wonderful. The hotel was so pretty. Beautiful terraces.
Review 54:Our room was small for the amount of people we had in it.We would also have liked to have a hot tub.
Review 55:The landscape and hotel were just beautiful. The breakfast buffet was the best we had all the way through Italy. We just loved the place. For sure we would come back. If you can't enjoy yourself here, you can't enjoy yourself anywhere.
Review 56:Price was exorbitant. Spiderwebs in rooms and the air conditioning was not working well. The vent on the air conditioner was FILTHY and clogged.
Review 57:Good location and quiet. Good breakfast, beautiful property with olive and fig trees. View of the ocean, a short drive from town. Free parking, easy to get to the train station to explore the national park. Friendly dogs and cats on property.
Review 58:Just one tiny thing (but not a big issue): the water pressure was fluctuating constantly so when taking a shower you suddenly get a jet of water in your neck.
Review 59:Modern hotel built like a small "settlement" of tiny houses clinging to the hillside, great location with a view over the valley and the sea. Nice spacious room with small private terrace/balcony, comfortable beds, very good breakfast (outside on the terrace with a great view!), very friendly staff, good wifi connection, convenient shuttle connection to the village (railway station and beach). Nice pool with a view over the valley. We will certainly come back for a holiday!
Review 60:Wi-Fi was extremely slow breakfast a little too low variety of food at breakfast
Review 61:closeness and distance from Levanto spacy and clean rooms good shuttle service very kind staff; they always try to fulfill your wish parking palce was secured
Review 62:the elevator didn't reach to the level of the rooms, might be difficult for someone with mobility problems.
Review 63:helpuf staff, speaking fluently english and french, they provided all touristic info needed, nice evironment with a terasse to drink a glass of wine in the evening, with a view to the sea and really clean!
Review 64:Not fantastic value for money, was expecting a little more for what we paid.
Review 65:The room, views, swimming pool, parking and breakfast were all excellent. The staff were friendly and helpful. Shuttle service to town convenient as parking difficult in Levanto.
Review 66:Beyond a reasonable walking distance to town/train station location.
Review 67:Hill-side location and pleasant environment with lovely views enhanced by colorful flowers provided a peaceful location to enjoy this area. The hotel's services exceeded our anticipations -- the shuttle service to the train station proved to be quite necessary; the "cold plate" evening meal option was a most welcomed option. The helpful staff provided very good recommendations. Impressive "green" design and energy saving features. Excellent over-all and better than expected...
Review 68:Great hotel with panoramic views and away from the town of Lavanto but with easy access on the regular shuttle or taxi. 3 to 4 nights stay recommended to be able to appreciate the beauty and the ambiance of hotel and surrounds. Sumptuous breakfast and very pleasant, helpful staff.
Review 69:We booked a quad which was really a triple with a rollaway added, so the fourth bed was small.
Review 70:Hotel sits above Levanto and is a great place to get away from the crowds of Cinque Terre. Our family loved the pool especially after a hot day hiking. My husband and I loved having drinks on the terrace at sunset. My son loved the nooks and crannies of the hotel. Loved the lemon drops in the lobby too! Great to be able to stay at the hotel for dinner. The breakfast was marvelous!
Review 71:The only thing I would recommend is a little more information in the rooms about the area and Cinque Terre. Maybe a train schedule, dinner recommendations, boat schedules etc.
Review 72:My husband and I celebrated our 10 year anniversary at Hotel Al Terra di Mare and couldn't be happier about it. The hotel, grounds and facilities were idyllic. The staff was exceptional and so very friendly and accomodating. They gave us invaluable information about the area and helped us with all our travel plans for each day. I have several food intolerances and they did an amazing job of making me feel confident that not only would I be able to eat what they were serving, but be delighted by what they were serving. The first morning I uttered the words "senza glutine" my server knew immediately what I needed and brought me a special tray full of gluten free foods and every day thereafter she had it ready and waiting when we came down for breakfast. All other servers were knowledgeable and made wonderful reccomendations and made us feel welcome, confident in what we were eating and thus I was able to truly relax and enjoy every wonderful thing about this amazing trip. I thank Hotel Al Terra di Mare, from the bottom of my heart, for one of the most amazing and memorable vacation we've ever had.
Review 73:Some of the reception staff were not so friendly and some seem to watch over the guests which make you feel very uncomfortable. Very bad Aircon system in the rooms as the temp stays warm. To pay for Shuttle bus to town. This service should have been included in the room costs.
Review 74:The Location and the beautiful views of the hotel. Good breakfast.
Review 75:High Voltage wires dominate the view. No power if not in room so unable to charge equipment or cool the room as Air Conditioning would also not work when out of room. Pool was green.
Review 76:Good parking on site. Away from town so was quiet at night.
Review 77:Definitely need a car to go up the steep hill, walking is not an option to/from Levanto. (Hotel has a shuttle service though.) Parking your car near the train station can be a bit tricky and pricey.
Review 78:Great place to stay while doing your Cinque Terre trip. Nice, rather new hotel up on the hill with sea view. Spacious, clean, comfortable rooms. Good breakfast. Swimming pool is great for refreshing after a day's walking. Good starting point to visit places nearby by traing. Great restaurants in town as recommended by the hotel. Safe, quiet, relaxing. Good with even smaller kids.
Review 79:No complaints, but if you want to be able to walk in and out of town easily, this is not the place for you - unless you're willing to hike up some pretty steep hills to get back to the hotel. But it's an easy taxi ride and the hotel has a reliable shuttle to take you to Levanot.
Review 80:This was an ideal base for our visit to Cinque Terre. Close enough to easily get there, but far away enough to escape the throngs of tourists who crowd those towns and beaches. We loved the peace and quiet of sitting on the patio, sipping wine, after a day of hiking, biking and swimming at the busy beaches and crowded trails of the Cinque Terre towns.
Review 81:Noisy bar bridge and generator early in the morning.
Review 82:Lovely location away from the Cinque Terre crowds. Very helpful staff and delicious breakfast.
Review 83:Rooms not soundproof - lots of noise from upstairs.
Review 84:Beautiful surroundings. Quiet landscape.Parking next to room.
Review 85:SUPER SERVICE FROM ALL THE PEOPLE
Review 86:The view from the hotel was stunning.
Review 87:The room was just OK. The airconditioning was not good and the shower was tiny
Review 88:The view
Review 89:Too far from town, hot water not hot enough, on one shuttle each way per day a bit rough when you are so far from town and the station
Review 90:Nice view
Review 91:Location service staff facilities friendliness staff could not have been more helpfull.
Review 92:Having to pay for the shuttle. The air conditioning is not changeable
Review 93:Excellent staff and view, very spacious rooms! Great stay overall.
Review 94:no tea making facilities in room
Review 95:location pool staff room
Review 96:easy access to Cinque Terra
Review 97:Pool not open till 10 30 am
Review 98:All brilliant fab time
Review 99:The bed and pillows were uncomfortable
Review 100:Very friendly staff, very keen to help.
Review 101:Bit of a drag back from the train station so best to have a car or use Hotel shuttle.
Review 102:Beautiful location, staff very friendly and helpful
Review 103:The transfer from the hotel cost 10€ per trip per room and the transfer could quickly be fully booked.
Review 104:Nice hotel, great breakfast and good rooms.
Review 105:Modern, quite, great swimming pool and stress free.
Review 106:Hotel had shuttle service to town as hotel was overlooking town
Review 107:Accommodation and service were great
Review 108:Distance from center of Levanto and train station.
Review 109:Friendly staff.
Review 110:The bed is not comfortable at all, all the pillows.
Review 111:Room was very plain and certainly not worth what we paid!
Review 112:Nothing.
Review 113:The friendly and helpful staff. The well appointed decor and comfort.
Review 114:Location and staff
