Reviews for Danabel B&B
Review 1:It would be nice to have larger room and more space.
Review 2:It was a typical Irish stay. We would like to test the porridge at breakfast. Nevertheless, the breakfast was great.
Review 3:There wasn't a separate sitting room, or an accessible garden. No chest of drawers to put smalls in, in bedroom.
Review 4:Was very clean, with fresh towels and sheets daily. Plenty of tea and breakfast was good. Proprietor was helpful and friendly.
Review 5:Wouldn't stay there again simply because of the hostess, a very reserved woman which I appreciate is just her way but she comes across as cold and unfriendly which does effect the quality of stay.
Review 6:Good location, easy access to town. Good size breakfast and nice to eat with the other guests although there was an option of sitting separate. Very small rooms but not cramped, good size bathroom and fantastic beds.
Review 7:Nothing serious but we would have liked curtains with some kind of lining. Blackout curtains are great for the summer time.
Review 8:Everything in this B&B was high quality.
Review 9:Would not have chosen here if we had known it was up steep hill as we have difficulty with this.
Review 10:Unusual to sit at breakfast with other guests but in actual fact it was lovely to talk to other tourists. Might not have done if at separate tables.
Review 11:Located at top of steep pedestrian path from town. Driving to town would be an option for less mobile visitors.
Review 12:View across the rooftops to the harbor. Clean and comfortable, a nice stay.
Review 13:We were made very welcome, our hosts were very kind helping us out with washing and suggestions for meals. The bed were very comfortable and rooms were freshened up every day. Danabel was only a short to the township and many restaurants. A very enjoyable stay.
Review 14:Very small room and shower area.Parking limited on residential street.Expensive in comparison to the other places we stayed on our trip to Ireland.
Review 15:Location is good within walking distance of Barbour and shops of Kinsale
Review 16:The owner could do a lot more to make you feel welcome. The owner comes across as a woman who is only in the job for the money !! Abrupt when speaking to her but the room was clean and the bathroom was a good size
Review 17:The location is good as it is just a 5 minute walk to the town centre but it takes a little longer for the return as there is a fairly big hill
Review 18:The shower was a bit dated - but it isn't enough of a downside to deter a return visit.
Review 19:Phil provides the most amazing breakfast. Her friendliness and the comfort of the room, bed and pillows are amazing. My return trip to Kinsale will include the Danabel.
Review 20:No secure parking, you park on the street and not even in a designated street parking space. Lacked atmosphere. Just a very small room with heavy uncomfortable bedding, I slept very badly but my partner slept ok. Fine for a quick stop off but not great if you prefer a comfortable and welcoming place to lounge about. Only one table for breakfast, you have to talk to the other residents across the table. Some people love this just not for me, I found it really awkward and uncomfortable.
Review 21:Location is good for Kinsale town and very clean.
Review 22:This was a home converted to a B&B so the bedrooms were small. Wedid have a bathroom but it was very small. Ireland needs to go to onefaucet - everywhere all sinks have two faucets so either the water ishot or cold - can't mix unless you use the sink, which I only dothat at home when necessary!
Review 23:Kinsale!! What a sweet little town - beautiful harbor, nice market oncertain days, even a used clothing store! Danabel was clean - our roomwas small but nice. Breakfast was at one of two tables so we talked toeach other. Parking was right out front and the town, grocery store, JimEdwards pub etc was just a walk down the hill.
Review 24:We booked a double room but were given a twin. Staff were not very accommodating when we asked if we could simply iron a shirt and we felt rushed out of there even though we were leaving on time
Review 25:Good location
Review 26:Could not register a negative comment regarding our one night in Kinsale
Review 27:Good location with only a short walk to centre of town and all the action. Very helpful and friendly host with good advice on a night on the town. Easy B&B to find and access.
Review 28:Friendly warm welcome, made us feel at home. Informative information about best places to eat and to find evening entertainment. Close proximity to Kinsale Harbour. Everything nicely presented and nice and clean.
Review 29:You have to check in between 4 and 6. We had to rush to get there on time. I didn't like having to pay cash, all the other places we stayed took cards.
Review 30:Great location, clean, great breakfast.
Review 31:Location - on a scruffy road opposite a piece of derelict land. Parking on drive for 2 small cars otherwise on the road. Bathroom floor full of hairs.TV reception awful. Never saw the landlady from arriving till morning breakfast. Never shown any other part of house for relaxing in so felt as if that's your bedroom, stay there! We stayed in late June, room had white thin curtains therefore woke up with the sun.Bed was comfy. No chance of any sea view from the rear of this semi-detached,you're looking over roofs of houses to houses on a hill. Bathroom window had clear glass and house backed onto other houses so blind was permanently down and white towels had old stains on them.Short walk of minutes into centre of town but path was VERY steep.Breakfast was okay. House has been converted to a B&B on the cheap. Bathroom toiletries consisted of hand wash on the basin and a bottle of shower gel,so remember your own. Not a place I would recommend and we came away feeling the €85 per night (the most expensive night of our holiday and that was including a nice Dublin hotel and a really good room in Galway) was very overpriced.
Review 32:I stayed in a room with a double bed and a bathtub. The owner, Phil, was extremely helpful with respect to restaurants, pubs, events, etc. The room was immaculate. Breakfasts were generous, with a number of options. I found it to be reasonably priced and would definitely stay there again. Several caveats: First, it's cash-only at check-out. No credit cards. Second, the B&B is located above the town and involves walking up and down an incline to get into town on foot, which might be taxing for those out-of-shape. Lastly: Arriving early can be tricky. The front door isn't always open like a hotel's would be. Check-in is 4pm-ish. If you arrive earlier, the door could well be locked, in the way that a person's home might be locked, and it's likely there might not be anyone there to answer if you should knock. If you need to arrive before 4pm, best to either arrange ahead of time for early check-in or call before arriving to make sure someone will be there to let you in.
Review 33:Delightful host Excellent breakfast and cleanliness Attention to detail on room.
Review 34:Location to downtown plus it was a nice place
Review 35:Proprioter Phil was very helpful, kind and a very good hostess good choice of breakfasts and very good quality of food and comfortable rooms
Review 36:Good location , close to town for restaurants and pubs but quite a steep walk back!
Review 37:Not overly friendly welcome. Very small rooms and parking was limited.
Review 38:Location was convenient to downtown and easy to locate. Breakfast was good.
Review 39:Very helpful host, great location, Marvellous views from the property
Review 40:Phil was most accommodating and helpful in all ways. Her home is gracious and we enjoyed meeting other guests at breakfast!
Review 41:Breakfas was delicious and they were very welcoming
Review 42:Neat city with lots to do
Review 43:loved that it was close to town but on a quiet street! Very clean!
Review 44:Wi-fi bad strength
Review 45:Quiet location, very comfortable bed. Good breakfast. Good value for money.
Review 46:Phil is so friendly and accommodating. She makes a mean breakfast and the beds are so comfortable it's hard to get out and about.
Review 47:low pressure of the water in the shower.
Review 48:The location of the B&B - only 3mn walk to the center. The bed was very comfy!
Review 49:Very steep walk to the town, OK going down, whilst only a 3/4 minute walk heavy going walking back
Review 50:Breakfast very good
Review 51:Convenient walking location to town.
Review 52:steep up hill climbing from center to hotel
Review 53:cost effectiveness
Review 54:Very clean and comfortable. Quiet neighborhood but only a few minutes walk from downtown Kinsale. Fine complimentary breakfast.
Review 55:Parking was difficult
Review 56:Close to town. Excellent breakfast
Review 57:see above
Review 58:location
Review 59:Easy walk to downtown and on a quiet street. Kinsale is a wonderful small town with great restaurants
Review 60:Hugely over-priced we were amazed to find we had spent so much on a room in a semi on a housing estate. We chose it for secure parking but spent anxious times as local children played with hard balls around our hire car in the Band B front garden Neighbours did not seem happy about the BandB
Review 61:Location good near town centre but a steep climb back
Review 62:The walls are paper-thin, so not the best place for a second honeymoon and if someone has a cold in the next room, you feel you're going to catch it. The bed was firm but comfortable, but I suggest taking your own pillows unless you like them hard and flat.
Review 63:The owner was very kind, even though I was running late to check-in after being lost, the room and bed were lovely and clean, and the breakfast lovely. Easy walk to the middle of town.
Review 64:Owner greeted us at the door, showed us to our room and also collected fee the following morning. She was uncharacteristically distant and reserved for a B & B owner. We declined the breakfast option so really did not spend much time interacting.
Review 65:Located about 2 blocks uphill from main business, pubs and restaurants. Room was clean and very comfortable and located above a private home.
Review 66:Phil was a really helpful and friendly host and gave us some good tips on places to eat. There was a very nice atmosphere in the guesthouse and the location to the town centre could not have been better. The short but steep walk back from town was a good little work out!
Review 67:I would highly recommend Danabel to anyone visiting Kinsale. The owner is a lovely person, she made feel so welcome.I would deffinately stay there again.
Review 68:Room very small, no place for cases or cannot reach the bed/door.Kettle plugged in behind drawers- how to fill it? Most expensive but yet most basic B&Bs we stayed in during our tour. Walls very thin, were awake at 6 am as the people on the floor above decided to march around and move their luggage. Landlady rather timid and shy, but friendly.
Review 69:Very close to center, short walk.
Review 70:bit pricey for what you get, room was a bit small, only 4 tv channels,
Review 71:good location, 2 minute walk from town, nice woman running the place, nice breakfast
Review 72:See above
Review 73:Pro - breakfast Cons - no early check in or place to store bags when u arrive early. No one is there till 4pm Keep rooms very cold u have to ask for heat to be turned on No hair dryer in rooms Unless u catch owners u get a key and leave u alone no recommendations for sites etc. out of all the B&Bs we stayed in this was the lowest rated CASH only to pay at hotel you can not pay ahead of time online. No credit cards EURO only We tried to email for ety check in but still had to drop bags in open front doorway and pray no one stole them till owners came at 4pm and we walked around town. Even though they said they would be there between 11-12 to let us check in. We waited an hour and no one showed up hence our reason for leaving bags in doorway.
Review 74:The owner was very friendly and helpful in giving us information. the bed and breakfast was in walking distance to this quaint interesting town. It was perfect for our needs
Review 75:Having to pay extra for breakfast, as it is a B&B I expected it would be included in the rate quoted. Never heard of room only in B&B. Breakfast only fair.
Review 76:Nice location, good bed, nice and clean
Review 77:Cash only, no credit cards accepted. Owner was on the phone when we arrived, seemed like we were inconveniencing her.
Review 78:Room was clean and comfortable breakfast was good.
Review 79:nothing.
Review 80:everything,comfort,made feel welcome, hospitality, very good breakfast, lovely choice.owner very pleasant ,we found it great value for money for the lovely kinsale, we'll be back in the spring.
Review 81:Room had some mold on window coverings. I have a mold allergy so it was uncomfortable. Very small room. Walk back from town was all uphill.
Review 82:Loved the town and the pubs and restaurants. Phyl served a wonderful breakfast. Parking was available for 2 cars.
Review 83:Didnt feel very welcome when we arrived, seems we interupted a phone call and were reluctantly shown to our room. Found the room rather small and cramped.
Review 84:Good location out of the big city but offering plenty of attractions. Really good breakfast, beautifully cooked.
Review 85:No complaints. Maybe would have liked a couple suitcase stands in theroom.
Review 86:Warm welcoming hospitality at this B&B in the wonderful littlevillage of Kinsale. Wonderful breakfast family style. Kind andthoughtful owner.
Review 87:Dust on headboard, long black hairs on floor and in shower.
Review 88:Lovely family run home like environment, great view of the bay, short walk to village, nice walk/hike to star fort. Son checked us in and made breakfast first day, then mum (owner) came back. She made suggestions for music and dinner, made us reservations for the second night. Great stay!
Review 89:I was next to the entrance so a bit noisy and also had to pay in cash at checkout - I didn't notice this and had to make a walk to town and back.
Review 90:Clean and conveniently located with comfortable beds.
Review 91:The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was spectacular. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. For the very good price compared to elsewhere in Kinsale it was excellent value for money.
Review 92:Expensive. Breakfast only okay and early. Hill climb to back is serious work on the legs. Atmosphere a bit dull in b&b too?
Review 93:Beds very comfortable. Owner nice person.
Review 94:Nothing - enjoyed all aspects.
Review 95:Danabel is only a short walk from the town centre and harbour. The rooms were lovely and clean, and the breakfast menu extensive. We could park our hire car on site. Highly recommended.
Review 96:Parking is a bit limited but it's manageable and convenient.
Review 97:Very clean, comfortable and homely, under the lady owner's (Phil) personal attention.
Review 98:Advertised as having toiletries for guests - bottle of shower gel??Towels getting rather tired. Bit pricey for the standard of room.
Review 99:Friendly helpful landlady. Excellent breakfast, lots of choice. Warmroom and comfortable bed.
Review 100:The rooms a a little small but workable
Review 101:The owner Philomena (Phil as she likes to be called) is a most gracious host. Take her recommendation regarding where to eat and enjoy great music.
Review 102:The B&B was close to the town but up a bit of a steep hill - howevermost of Kinsale is like that.
Review 103:The owner Phil was very friendly and helpful and provided a good choiceof breakfasts freshly cooked to order.
Review 104:It was very close to the village. I had requested ahead for a gluten free breakfast but when the time came the lady didn't have ant glutted free bread but she did offer twice to go out and buy some especially for me. I would have much rather she had read my request when she accepted my booking.
Review 105:No view, on hilltop above town. Was told3min walk to town, but not that the path was at a 45 degree angle, about 75 yards down & up. Could no get wifi to work.
Review 106:Not too much. Breakfast was very good, host was nice
Review 107:One of the three of us had a really difficult shower - going quickly from very cold to burning hot and back again. Wifi wasn't working until the next morning, but it seemed that was a fluke and not the fault of the B&B.
Review 108:Our hostess met us at the door and told us where to park. She gave us a brief run-down of where to eat and even offered to make reservations for us if we would like. It was a very easy walk to town - but be ready for the steep walk back up to go to bed! Rooms (we had 2) were very clean. One bathroom was a really nice size.
Review 109:far from city center. fee for credit card payment room next to entrance door
Review 110:hot tab cheese option in breakfast
Review 111:Room was small...no toiletries, but brought my own so no problem.
