Reviews for Hotel Carla
Review 1:Friendly staff, generous breakfast. Ideal location for visiting the Cinque Terre by train or boat. We had a third floor room overlooking the city. Small city with shops and good restaurants and a walkway along the Mediterranean.
Review 2:Friendly,spotlessly clean, nice breakfast and complimentary bikes. Close to railway station and a short walk to town centre and sea. A bit expensive for single guests but very reasonable for couples.
Review 3:The October weather turned cold, but the hotel was unable to turn on the heating system, keeping the room too cold. WiFi did not work in room, only in lobby.
Review 4:Nice modern hotel with parking, in a town with good restaurants and beach access
Review 5:Staff at the front desk are very friendly and helpful. Our room was perfect. Enough room for the 4 nights we were there. Balcony to sit on was a nice touch. Breakfast was yum & included in our price! Free bicycle hire which we used to get around town and explore a little. Overall stay was awesome!
Review 6:The location was quiet and very convenient for the train station. The rooms were very comfortable and clean. Breakfast had a wide selection of choices to suit everyone.
Review 7:Price suggested a bit more but overall it was probably OK for the area. WiFi seems really spotty and slow.
Review 8:Lots of help from hotel staff to guide us around and to restaurants. Recommended the ferry to cinque Terre and it was great.
Review 9:Nothing
Review 10:Really nice hotel, very clean, staff were always pleasant and helpful. Comfortable area at the front of the hotel to sit and have a drink, at the end of the day.
Review 11:Small room but i cant take it, lovely balcony too
Review 12:Kind and professional staff I love the atmosphere of the hotel. Excellent interior with artistic touch. Small but well equipped room Fabulous breakfast!
Review 13:The hotel is immediately opposite a school, which our balcony overlooked. On the Saturday evening the local children were using the campus as a playground. They were extremely noisy particularly with running up & down the 3 storey external iron staircase.
Review 14:The hotel is just outside the busy village centre, but only a few minutes walk away.
Review 15:Had a few days in larger junior suite, with sofa bed which somehow lacked the sparkle/deluxe feel of the rest of the hotel.
Review 16:Friendly helpful staff, efficiently run, spotlessly clean. Close to station and nice easy walk into town/beach. Double room compact but acceptable as was bright with light/airy feel.
Review 17:Proximity to the Cinque Terre, modern room facilities, comfortable bed, good selection of breakfast items! Patricia of the front desk was very kind and gave us great recommendations of restaurants.
Review 18:The only down side is wifi does not connect, the terrain of this area may be the reason, we had no connection in this town. Expect delays on train services but information is regular and informative.
Review 19:The hotel was easy to find, 5 mins walk from the train station. Staff really helpful and friendly and are more than happy to give local information. This town is quieter and smaller than Monterosso, depends what you are looking for at this time of the year.
Review 20:The staff were excellent, professional and hospitable. In particular Patritcia made us very welcome and gave us good information on the Cinque Terre. The hotel itself has a modern and comfortable fit out. There is a supermarket nearby. We had dinner in the hotel restaurant twice and found the food to be very good as well as value for money. Highly recommended.
Review 21:we had a lower level room with ordinary views to the school across the road
Review 22:Reception staff were kind and efficient. Breakfast was great and the added bonus of bike hire was the icing on the cake
Review 23:There wasn't anything we didn't like about our stay. It was perfect, thank you!
Review 24:We loved the decor, the extremely helpful staff, the friendliness of the staff, the biscuits and fizzy water at the front desk, the location, the reduced rates for the private beach and pool, the free bike hire to ride along to Framura, the breakfast, the garden to have a drink later on at night.... everything.
Review 25:The air conditioner was located directly in front of the bed which was great after returning from a hot day but not so good when trying to sleep.
Review 26:The hotel is very modern and a short walk from the town and train station. The staff were exceptionally helpful with tourist information.
Review 27:Small appartments! We had to jump over our suitcases, not what we expectet due to corresponding price. Faulty air condition in our first room and after complaint we got switched to a new one which worked, also hoping for the room to be bigger but it was only the shower that increased in size, thank god!
Review 28:Great location. We parked our car and traveled by foot, bicycle (free) and train for the three days visit. Great service from ladies in reception. Breakfust was fresh.
Review 29:The only thing that I didn't like was the size of the room and bathroom, but it wasn't such a big deal because they had nice decor and they were clean.
Review 30:The best thing it was the hospitality of the staff. They were so glad to help us and to offer us the best inside information! Thank you!
Review 31:Patrizia welcomed my mother and I at the front desk and she was amazing she suggested restaurants and little excursions. We used the complimentary bikes and took the rout suggested by Patricia and it was amazing. This hotel is a great location with amazing AC and at 35 degrees you need that. A million thanks to the staff especially Patrizia
Review 32:This is not an issue with Hotel Carla but a general problem with the area - but Wifi was quite shoddy and didn't work that well. Just make sure your expectations are set correctly in that you will not find fast, reliable wifi in most places in Levanto/Cinque Terre.
Review 33:Staff was very friendly and helpful, room/showers were all that we needed and up to par with expectations. Hotel is extremely walkable to any spot in Levanto - would definitely stay here again.
Review 34:No bad experience, perhaps the owners might consider taking guests to the station on departure.
Review 35:Modern, well appointed and comfortable rooms. Stylish other rooms. Helpful owner and staff who will make good recommendations . Good value for money
Review 36:No major issues. Minor issue mentioned by someone else, I had to seekout and ask for une cappuccino everyday. Tables with a man wereapproached right away. The last one was the best though with heaps offoam. Wifi on/off. Ac turned off when room done, I couldn'tquite figure out for some time when I turned it from 24 to 22 why itwasn't cooling-duh...
Review 37:Levanto is easily reached by train, Hotel Carla is a short walk awayfrom the station, close to but away from the expensive steep madness ofthe Chinque Terre, with sights and charm all its own. As a single olderwoman who doesn't speak much Italian, I enjoyed being able to walkaround town fairly easily, with lots to see and do for 4 days: hiking, both in the hills and through the tunnels to Bonassola, shopping, eating, sightseeing, riding ferry to Chinque Terre and Portovenere, swimming, the paseo in the square that's not. My room was veryclean, shower and sheets delightful, safe, refrigerator, and the smallelevator when carrying luggage appreciated. Although I didn't have asuite or a balcony, the view from my 3rd floor bathroom balcony:stunning. Lobby and breakfast room were comfortable, sleek and modern.Breakfast was 2nd best in Italy, (Venice's far exceeded it). Havinga grocery store nearby is a plus. I'm glad I chose Levanto and HotelCarla for my stay. Wifi was mostly ok as was air conditioning for hotJuly. Check-in easy and informative. I'm looking forward toreturning soon.
Review 38:A bit out of the town and eating places say a 10 minute walk
Review 39:Clean modern and spacious. Own balcony. Helpful desk staff. Good variety for breakfast. Not too far from train station.
Review 40:It was all great,
Review 41:Fabulous hotel. Great breakfast lots of choice, Very convienent t o beach and train station to explore the Cinque Terra. Rooms very clean and bright with good Air Con and a fridge. Free bikes were great to cycle the cycleways to the next villages through the old tunnels. Staff very helpful even provide towels for the beach and coffee on arrival.
Review 42:There was nothing we didn't like. We highly recommend this hotel if you plan to visit the CT area.
Review 43:Friendly & efficient staff. We had a problem with our car rental & they really went out of their way to help us. Great location...few minutes walk to train station for cinque terre.
Review 44:The wifi is on telephone lines and wasn't too great. The mattresswas too hard for us.
Review 45:Locarno is just as beautiful as any Italian Rivera town. This hotel isclose to the station and to a supermarket and to the center of town. Itis a first class establishment with an outdoor patio that has greatfurniture. The furniture everywhere is high class. We were impressedwith the high quality do furnishings. Our room was beautiful with afully tiled bathroom, a balcony that allowed you to hang clothing, andlots of shelves to organize your belongings. The breakfast room was fivestar in all ways. It was a beautiful place with decor and that breakfastwith bowls of fresh cantaloupe, pineapple and watermelon started my dayperfectly. The staff is professional, kind, and knowledgeable about theCinque Terre and lovely Levanto.
Review 46:The hotel is an easy walk to the train station as well as restaurants and the shops of Levanto. Great location as well as very clean, modern rooms. Wonderful shower with great water pressure. I regret that I did not get her name but the lady at the front desk helped us more than you will know. I left our passports on a train in Milan. She spoke English and Italian and was able to make some calls and find our passports and we were able to travel to retrieve them. With the language barrier I don't believe I would have gotten them back without her help. This was true customer service. We would definitely stay at Hotel Carla again!
Review 47:Clean, well appointed room, helpful reception regarding advice on where to eat, find the ferry etc. Swimming towels provided. Great breakfast, also a great dinner on the Sunday night when we arrived.
Review 48:The dinner menu was quite limited, but there are plenty of restaurants near the hotel.
Review 49:The included breakfast was delicious and vegetarian friendly. Hotel was easy to find from the train and in a central location to get around Levanto and into Cinque Terre. Staff was excellent.
Review 50:Nothing was bad about our stay at Hotel Carla. The only negative was that we had to leave and return home to the United States. We were happy it was our last destination before we returned home. It was the perfect ending to a lovely vacation!
Review 51:The hotel itself has been completely renovated on the interior with beautiful comtemporary furnishings, sleek modern amenities, and a dining area for breakfast and dinner that is comparable to many five star hotels. And let's talk breakfast which is buffet style included in the stay. The breakfast is served with fine dishes and fresh linen and an attentive staff that will do their best to meet your every wish. Some of the items included are croissants, rolls, cereals, select salami, ham, fresh cheese, fruit, yogurt, fruit juices, hot chocolate, coffee, pastries, cakes, and more. We have been to many bed and breakfasts, but this one is one of the best. We loved that the hotel is set in the middle of the charming town of Levanto, conveniently located within walking distance from the train station and 15 minutes from the boat taxi. Both train and boat will have you in the famous Cinque Terre before you know it. We preferred being able to go to the touristy towns when we wanted, yet could get away from the hustle and bustle when we wanted to as well. And finally, the owner of the hotel was the kindest and most gracious person. He was very hands on and made sure we were well taken care of from beginning to end. We had a series of misfortune before we arrived and he immediately provided a respite and haven for us. It was the peace and solace we needed from our weary travel. He went way above and beyond in assisting and helping us. For that we will always be grateful.
Review 52:Nothing really bad. Some breakfast items cold but you can eat around the eggs and English bacon. Hotel not by beach but it's a short walk .WIFI not good in room. Good in lobby.
Review 53:Great staff at front desk. Very helpful . Clean, up-to-date rooms. Good shower. Small lift but it works. Fridge in room .Smallest room is okay for two but a little tight. Go for the next size up. Street parking was fine but we did not go there in summer. Good laundromat down the block. Lots of restaurants in town. Good for several days. Cinque Terre boat / train nearby.
Review 54:We loved it at hotel Carla I would have liked a viewing the water, but I have no complaints
Review 55:I loved that we were right in the middle of the towns bustle. Walking distance to the train station and just steps from markets shops and the beach. The staff was friendly. (if you're visiting from the states go to the store near the beach that sells shoes they have birks for a great price and the older gentlemen the there is very nice and helpful. He suggested a few spots to see. )
Review 56:everything was nice.
Review 57:Nice hotel would give it more than 3 stars. Friendly helpful staff. Clean rooms, spacious double room with balcony. Good breakfast.
Review 58:The only very minor frustration was finding parking, however, Patricia was very helpful teaching us how to be more creative with our little car! :)
Review 59:This hotel was amazing! The staff was super friendly and very knowledgeable about the area highlights including the Cinque Terre hiking trails! We were greeted warmly every time we came in or left the hotel! The location was perfect; a short walk to the train and a quick little jaunt to downtown Levanto!
Review 60:Only one plug somewhere in the corner of the room, no drawers, walls too thin, poor wifi signal
Review 61:Very friendly staff, good location, hotel was clean and newly refurbished
Review 62:Extremely helpful staff, great quiet renovated room with view and balcony on 3rd floor over the street. The breakfasts were the best had in Italy with lots of variety. The hotel is easy walking to the train station to start the 'Cinque Terre' visits... Car parking directly in front of the hotel was great too.
Review 63:Very close to the train station and to the center of the city. The hotel is brand new. Everything is very clean and comfortable. The breakfast was delicious.
Review 64:Super friendly staff, great location, very clean, wonderful breakfast with ample variety of food. There are free bicycles available to guests, for riding the local trails, which was a highlight of our stay there.
Review 65:We can ear everything in the other rooms.
Review 66:The breakfast is very good. The decoration is nice. It's close to the train station for Cinque Terre. It has a parking. There are good restaurants close.
Review 67:This is a fantastic place to make your base if you are visiting the Cinque Terre. The staff are extremely helpful, especially Valentina who explained how to walk from Levanto to Monterosso. Great renovations, we loved our room and the breakfast lounge is very tastefully decorated, (great breakfast too). Levanto itself is a gorgeous town and we'd love to go back some day. I would definitely recommend this place to people of all ages.
Review 68:This is a very comfortable, clean, hotel with a great location especially if you want to explore the Cinque Terre. We are walkers, so Valentina explained the trail from Levanto to Monterosso which was spot on and even suggested great places for dinner at our request. As she grew up in Levanto there is not much she doesn't know about the place. The breakfast was great and the lounge is very welcoming and tastefully renovated as is the rest of the hotel. I would recommend this Hotel to anyone of any age group. What a beautiful town Levanto is. I hope we do get to come back.
Review 69:Nothing was perfect
Review 70:Loved the advice and direction given by Valentina. Loved that she spoke to my partner in Italian and then took the time to translate what she said in English. Loved the location and the ease of getting to the beautiful Cinque Terre. .. Would highly recommend you stay with Hotel Carla
Review 71:Great location, helpful staff (incl. restaurant recommendations), breakfast including many variations, 5 mins walking distance to train station to take train to CinqueTerre - 5 mins into downtown of Levanto, 1 min to next supermarket. Even parking was provided therefore no complaints, thanks very much. We will be back for sure. Poka&Markus
Review 72:Having to leave !!
Review 73:As a group of 6 travelling together from Australia, we loved everything about Hotel Carla. Upon our arrival the receptionist was very welcoming and offered a great deal of information valuable to our stay. All the staff were very accommodating and nothing was any trouble. The rooms were very modern, neat and tidy. The breakfast was the best we had encountered in 4 weeks in Europe. We highly recommend.
Review 74:Plan to stay here at least three nights and relax or you will go homedisappointed!
Review 75:Recently Remodeled - a beautiful facility - Excellent Attentive Staff -5 start breakfast daily in the hotel dinning room (with Americancoffee). Located in a Quiet Neighborhood within three blocks of the townShopping district and wonderful restaurants. Take a Short cab ride fromthe train station for only 10 Euros. Levanto is 5 minutes north ofMonterroso by train or catch the boat from the pier in town. You will behappy you avoided the crowds in the five cities!
Review 76:We didn't realise that the shutter could be lowered to block the street light outside.
Review 77:The ambience of the public areas and easy parking were very good
Review 78:The staff were beyond helpful and made us feel like we were family. The location was very close to the train station, the ferry rides, the beach, the shops and restaurants. Rooms were very comfortable. Although it is marked as a 3 star, our junior suite would rank as a 4 star.
Review 79:Towels could do with replacing
Review 80:Very good hotel. excellent Decor. Good friendly helpful staff, especially Valantina. Good location near to town but far enough away so quiet. Good breakfast no problem with parking.
Review 81:Everything worked as expected, no complaints!
Review 82:Breakfast was really good comparing to couple of other Italian hotels we stayed in. Breakfast had many kind of breads, cheese, bacon, ham, mozzarella&tomato salad, cerials, fruits, sweet pastries etc. Personnel was really helpful and spoke English very well. Rooms are small but really comfortable and clean. Location of this hotel is really good if you are planning to go on beach some day and other days visit Cinque Terre by train. Hotel is kind of located in the middle of both, about 5mins walk to railway station and to beach¢re. Small supermarket is just around the corner. Definitely would recommend this!
Review 83:Nothing we loved it!
Review 84:The hotel staff were wonderful and helpful. The terrace is a lovely place to relax and read sipping a glass of prosecco. Levanto is the perfect location to experience the Cinqueterre. It has a great beach and restaurants without the crowds. The hike from Levanto to Monte de Rosso is one of the most beautiful hikes we did.
Review 85:A little bit noisy between the rooms… it's a pity for that price. And the shower could be a bit larger.
Review 86:It was comfortable, the hotel is modern and the situation is excellent : near the railway station to get to the cinque terre in a couple of minutes, free parking thanks to the hotel (we didn't use our car in 4 days, what a paradise !), near the nice and kind center of Levanto where u'll find a lot of good restaurants… The breakfast was very good, a little bit of everything and fresh fruit. Ask for a room with a terrace if possible.
Review 87:I am sorry we only booked two nights. I would like to return and stay a week!
Review 88:Hotel Carla is just a short walk away from the train station. We stayed in Levanto so we could explore Cinque Terre by train. & it was just another short walk to restaurants and the beach in Levanto.
Review 89:Fussy wi-fi, very hot lobby and halls.
Review 90:Good rooms, good breakfast, great staff. 10 minute walk to train station (ask for shortcut), 1 minute to supermarket. Perfect town to stay in for train access to Cinque Terre (5 mins or less between villages).
Review 91:Nothing!
Review 92:Hotel Carla is in a great location at Levanto, easy walking distance to both the railway station (which is essential for visiting the Cinque Terre) and the town centre where the shops and restaurants are located and also to the beach. Levanto the perfect place to stay if visiting Cinque Terre, not so crowded and more room to move around with easy access by train to the towns. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We stayed for 7 nights and felt very much at home by the time we left.
Review 93:Balcony in our room was very small, almost impossible to seat. Access to the beach is not included and costs 16EUR per day...No swimming pool. Levanto is very average, not great place to stay, Sestri Levante is much better.
Review 94:Hotel is new and beautifully decorated. Staff is very friendly, they make you feel like home. Good breakfast with fruits and cakes.
Review 95:The staff especially Patrice were heroes. Our flight was delayed from Venice and our bags were lost. She stayed late to make sure we got to the hotel. The next day Patrice and the rest of the staff helped by calling the airline to get our bags so we were able the enjoy the trails. The location was great close to the station and a quick walk to the town center. The rooms were very modern and clean. This is the place to stay if you are planing a trip to the area!
Review 96:The owner of the hotel made a huge scene (yelled at one of his employees) in front of hotel patrons. Coming from the US, that is very shocking and something that is totally frowned upon.
Review 97:Valentina is so kind and sweet. She is a front desk receptionist and does her job very, very well! She stayed up until 2 or 3 AM to check me into my hotel room, whereas normally you're supposed to check in by 11 PM. She made me and my friend lattes, cappuccinos and breakfast in the mornings even after breakfast time had already ended. My friend and I ran into Valentina in Monterosso and we rode the train back home together. Outside of work, she is just as friendly and kind as she is at the hotel! She also told us that meatballs don't actually exist in Italy...I learned something new, haha! Valentina, you're absolutely the best, and I'm glad I got to know you!!
Review 98:Valentina was the receptionist, when we arrived and we were very impressed, with the information and concern she had, to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Valentina is a great asset to your Hotel. The other staff we dealt with were just as efficient and helpful. The breakfast is the best we have had in Italy. We would recommend the Hotel Carla to anyone.
Review 99:We absolutely loved our stay at Hotel Carla.. The 5 days we spent there were made all the better thanks to the helpful recommendations and overall friendliness of the reception staff, Patrizia and Valentina. They gave us fantastic tips for local restaurants and places to visit. We could not recommend this place highly enough, we would most definitely return!
