Reviews for The Blue Haven Hotel
Review 1:Food was terrible. Breakfast was included in the room rate. Coffee was weak and had no taste. The most important part of breakfast is a good cup of coffee. The hollandaise sauce on the eggs Benedict was bland. The eggs were not poached which is the point of an eggs Benedict. The last day I had an Irish breakfast and that finally was a success.
Review 2:Very comfortable and beautiful room. Lovely helpful staff. They do their best to make your stay great. Right in the heart of Kinsale.
Review 3:wet floor in bathroom I fell and hurt me ankle knee and hip. not that happy with the responce of manager when i explained I fell on wet floor in bathroom.
Review 4:lpcation service and facilities
Review 5:Room was small and quite tired. Very noisy at night - other guests returning to their rooms worse for wear and making a lot of noise.
Review 6:Location, value for money and staff. Breakfasts excellent too.
Review 7:Kinsale is one of the most stunning places in Ireland if not Europe and the Blue Haven where we stayed was the icing on the cake. We mentioned we were on a MiniMoon after getting married the week before and they upgraded us for no cost.
Review 8:Staff so frlendly and helpful. Lovely room, comfortable bed perfect all round. Brought breakfast to my room at the crack of dawn as I had to catch an early flight. Nothing was too much trouble. Just wish I could have stayed longer - will definitely recommend.
Review 9:We had an absolutely lovely stay at the Blue Haven, our room was really cosy and comfortable, the staff were so friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was fantastic!!
Review 10:We really enjoyed our breakaway...The hotel was friendly quaint ,comfortable and the location was spot on ,right in the middle of Kinsale...It had amazing facilities foodwise..The staff were friendly and atmosphere lovely..
Review 11:Great location, comfortable rooms, great bar and restuarants , awesome staff. We would stay their again in a heart beat and highly recommend this hotel in Kinsale.
Review 12:Room was a little cramped with very poor noise insulation, in particular the toilet cistern was very loud waking me regularly during the night
Review 13:Location, Food, Staff
Review 14:It wasn't a bad experience . Water started dripping at about 5.30 , 10 drips then stop for a minute or two and this went on and on with no thuds to it as it was very intermittent. Couldn't get back to sleep until about 7ish. TV didn't work
Review 15:I liked the food, the room was comfortable esp the bed.
Review 16:No lift. Iam a auld fella no climbing steps thank you.
Review 17:Staff in dining room dinner and breakfast spot on. Food dinner and breakfast Spot on. Room comfort and cleanliness spot on. In all spot on.
Review 18:In my first room i haven't a remote for my TV, it wasn't heated and was really noisy (technical problems in the bathroom but also very load until 12:00pm - Clubs, Pubs, etc.)
Review 19:Very nice staff, having a good mood and be friendly. I got a new room the second night because I complain my first one. Everybody was helpfully and understanding and I was very satisfied with my stay in Blue Heaven/Old Bank Hotel. The Party with live music on Saturday night was great! So great as the seafood pie I had for lunch.
Review 20:Most hotels we booked had complementary breakfast this one did not.
Review 21:this Hotel was right in the city easy to get to all we wanted to see. Our room was roomy and the bed was comfortable.
Review 22:The only negative about our trip -on arrival the bedroom was too hot and the smell of the defusserwas top strong!
Review 23:Every thing and the live music was great!! A lovely relaxed feel - would go back no problem!
Review 24:Replaced with shower curtain instead of half glass panel at Room 4. Very small selection on Tv channels. No cable tv.
Review 25:We all like the Hotel Location, Classic Breakfast, Staff at Check-in. Good strong Wifi in room.
Review 26:Parking is not on hotel grounds, the hotel is not too far from a free car park in the town but not great safety wise
Review 27:Great Location, Very friendly staff, super breakfast options!
Review 28:The food was amazing and the music in the bar was of a very high standard. I particularly enjoyed the band "Sonny and Friends" and would go back there to hear them. Staff were very friendly and the hotel had lots of charm.
Review 29:Very poor shower, old key lock for room and only one key at times awkward for us.also very slow to replace some of the breakfast dishes
Review 30:Food mostly, breakfast very good with plenty of choice, evening meals excellent.
Review 31:Was going to eat in the bar was give a mune bit nobody came back to us so after 45 mins we lefted.
Review 32:The staff were very helpful my husband fell they couldn't do anymore to help.
Review 33:The hotel hasn't a car park which is a little inconvenience but there is free car parking after 6pm & also an alternative car park at a close by location throughout the day.
Review 34:The staff were amazing! They are an absolute credit to the hotel & could not do enough for us. The food was exceptional and we wished we had another evening to enjoy another dinner in the Aperitif restaurant. We had a 5 week old baby with us and again the staff did all they could to accommodate us which was greatly appreciated. We would most definitely stay again and have already recommended it to family and friends.
Review 35:No car parking at hotel. Bedroom curtains were too big for window and were getting in way. Wasn't sure either if they were clean. We had bedroom at back of hotel and view from window wasn't pretty. Could have done with bigger selection of fruit for breakfast.
Review 36:Location in town centre excellent. Food was very good and good menu variety. Live music Staff very nice
Review 37:This Hotel is not Value for money at all!! The room we got was nothinglike what we seen on bookings! It was tiny, no room to walk around bedat all! In a need of urgent updating! The bed cover was ripped also (notgood) Room was extremely hot with only a big heavy duvet on the bed.Could of done with a sheet also for when you need to remove duvet!! Fora hotel I would expect this!! Ensuit is very small also and the showeris an old school shower head and hose attached to the bath taps!! Nopressure at all! Also not good enough for a hotel in my opinion !Hall/stairs and room all had a bad smell masked with very strong Airfresheners( very overpowering in such a small area) The tiny tv also hasabout 3 channels, just kept flashing no signal! Went to reception at10pm to advise of problems and there was no one at reception!! I couldnot wait to get out of this hotel, I complained the next morning as Iwas not happy with the facilities. The receptionist was really rude andcontinually disagreed with us and said the room was on bookings. Icontinued to speak to the receptionsit to which both me and my partnerwere both ignored by her and we had to actually ask her if she heard us?Her reply was : Yes! Im looking at this room on bookings!! So ignorant! So then I showed her a picture I took of the room I stayed in and askedher where on bookings this was and she couldnt answer me once again! Amanager rang me later that day and said theres nothing really that canbe done now! And took my points and said she would have someone call me.Last 2 points : Blue Haven Needs to lose the title "Boutique" as it is far from it & This hotel is highly NOT recommended
Review 38:Nothing about this hotel
Review 39:Not much. Didn't appear to be a lift and stairs a bit narrow but that's about all.
Review 40:Stayed in the Blue Haven on my honeymoon 21 years ago. Returned for a couple of nights this week. Hotel has more restaurants than before. Still a small hotel but great big bedroom. Great location, good atmosphere, music at night. I like it and would return.
Review 41:When I booked this hotel, it was due to experience of the bar and restaurant and how comfortable it was. I have a young toddler and an elderly mother. We chose Blue haven so we could sit in the residents bar and have friends visit us and then put my child to bed without having to leave the hotel. Upon arrival we were told that we could not use the residents bar until after 11pm due a Music event and entry was 20euro. we had no advance notice of this. The receptionist didn't seem to care that I was stood at th edesk with a child and elderly mother. We were told we could use a neighbouring pub owned by the hotel. How could I bring a 2.5yr oldinto a Friday night public bar. After a meal we walked back tot he hotel and heard the sound check which was loud. we asked the receptionist if the noise could be heard from our room. She didn't seem to care again. We pointed out that we needed to get a child to bed and we now unhappy with the service. We were eventually moved to a neighboring hotel which was very nice and comfortable. But moving to another hotel at 21.00hrs was a pain with a very tired young daughter.
Review 42:Nothing. I was appalled at the lack of correspondence from Booking .com with regard events booked in this hotel preventing us from using the facilities.
Review 43:Rooms a bit small with wardrobes small Room lighting a bit dim Wi if a bit slow
Review 44:Staff excellent Food excellent Location excellent Breakfast excellent Entertainment in hotel Nothing was a problem to staff Good value for money
Review 45:Small TV with made an annoying humm. Noise of lorries unloading early every morning. AND NO BISCUITS in the bedrooms for the tea and coffee!!!!!
Review 46:Staff Complex Food
Review 47:We arrived to hotel but couldn't park outside, and we also had to pay for parking,we knew this as we were advised on your website But we can't have everything and we still enjoyed our stay
Review 48:For the price we paid we received very comfortable rooms, and hearty breakfast,I have stayed in so called 4 star hotels for 3 times the price but the blue haven is able to match these hotels for accommodation and food well done ,
Review 49:Bar , Restaurant and tapas bar were very good , the music on the nightime was a nice bonus and the staff could not have been nicer . Bedroom was clean and comfortable .
Review 50:We had booked into the Hotel but there were a lot of events going on there and we were concerned it might be noisy so the staff were very good and kind and suggested their other property.
Review 51:The peaceful back bedroom. The delicious breakfast downstairs in the Coffee Shop.
Review 52:The room was very small, with an extremely small window, making it very stuffy and hot, we had to literally climb over bags etc to get into the tiny bathroom.
Review 53:the staff were lovely, the food was excellent,(great breakfast menu) the bar had good evening entertainment. The hotel was very cosy, clean and right in the centre of Kinsale
Review 54:I said I would recommend to others but that is with the warning below, I would not stay there again unless it was renovated and the rate was much better. I was unhappy to start as just before I left for Kinsale I got a call they had overbooked and moved me to another hotel (guest house) the old Bank House just up the road, same rate and they said it was an upgraded room. The room was good, some people would love it but I felt I was overpaying. The Wi-Fi was really bad, could not get it in my room but could at reception and in the café. For me it was very old world and some of the facilities were dated but the room was big and clean with a great view.
Review 55:Staff very helpful, breakfast very good, bed comfortable, The room was big if dated (Bathroom very dated), great view, great location parking was easy for me out front on street but was safe, can see how parking could be a problem at a more busy time
Review 56:Myself and my daughter travelled here the last week of August and overall thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We visit Kinsale on a regular basis and was an ideal base as it is on the doorstep of the town with local facilities immediately outside the hotel.
Review 57:Standard of the room when my booking was made in February for an August visit. I think this was the worst room in the hotel. This was so disappointing as we had visited the hotel before and it was to be the highlight of our visit to Ireland.
Review 58:Good food, friendly restaurant staff.
Review 59:I was a bit disappointed in our room could do with a bit of freshening up..... definatley need the windows replaced
Review 60:Stayed at the Blue Haven a few times great service and food is delicious love staying here
Review 61:Lack of a lift. Lugging heavy cases upstairs was not fun.
Review 62:Very comfortable. Staff very helpful and breakfasts were delightful in choice and quality. Enjoyed the fact we could walk everywhere as it was centrally located.
Review 63:The first room allocated was appaling in the back of the hotel with no windows only a balcony door. Very small and uncomfortable. We complained and was given a bigger room the next day.
Review 64:The location was great in the middle of Kinslae
Review 65:The room was hot, and although a fan was provided it didn't overcome the problem. The room was run down, a damp smell pervaded the bathroom and it was very small.
Review 66:The location is brilliant , we had a good meal in the hotel and the staff were friendly and helpful
Review 67:There was nothing we didn't like.
Review 68:We were lucky enough to be upgraded to the townhouse which was a short walk up the road and were given a suite with its own lounge, luxury bedroom and bathroom. This was fantastic as we were able to put our toddler to bed and chill out in the lounge. The breakfast was amazing, there was a very good choice - we had am omelette and eggs benedict. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. We would highly recommend this hotel.
Review 69:The toilets in the bar area were very grubby and so I went up to my room when I needed the bathroom each night while dining in the reasturant. Also I am very limited in what I can eat so just got pan fried chicken with no sauce or herbs or gnocchi. Just chicken and chips plain and was charged full price which I taught was very over priced @ around €17.
Review 70:Great location all the staff were very friendly. The entertainment waso excellent each night.
Review 71:Room was small, but it did not matter, because we were not there most of the time.
Review 72:Excellent location and great facilities…Irish music and dancers in the bar in the evening
Review 73:free car parking only from 6 pm till 10.30 am. Not bad I suppose but it was not always easy to find a spot.
Review 74:Staff were very welcoming . All staff friendly. Our room was comfortable. There was great choice for breakfast and there was entertainment every night. The trad group were excellent.
Review 75:We found the service in the restaurant to be very slow both for breakfast and when we tried to have dinner there, but never received our food after a very long wait.
Review 76:It's a lovely hotel and very well located to many pubs, restaurants, and sights. Our room was comfortable, well appointed, and we enjoyed having a fan due to the high temperatures. Highly recommend Kinsale and The Blue Haven.
