Reviews for Arrow on Swanston

Review 1:The main reason we chose thie hotel was for its pool which I need for physiotherapy. The pool and changing rooms were beyond dirty and obviously neglected for a very long time. Rooms not big enough to swing a cat.

Review 2:Friendly and helpful staff and location good.

Review 3:This property was nothing like it looked in the pictures! I want to forget the smell of the hallways and the balcony looked out over bins. The pool was murky and everything needed a good clean! I will be splurging for a nicer place next time. And the staff had an argument in front of us when we were checking out.

Review 4:Safe and in our budget at the time. Location was great.

Review 5:The fact that we had booked an additional night with the hotel, and got told that we had to check out after the first night, and then recheck in on the 2nd day even though we were staying in the same room. They managed to sort that out, and told us that we didn't have to check out and recheck in, but on the second day, house keeping was sent to our room twice, after they had been told that we had checked out. We were very unhappy with this service.

Review 6:The location of the laundry and trying tot find facilities was difficult. and the information in there folder in the room was dated. Beds not comfortable but they do.

Review 7:The location! And the room set out was fantastic for sibilibs travelling- we need our own space.

Review 8:Shower poorly maintained, spraying water everywhere. Gym and pool in another building and not that easy to find. A bit expensive for what it was. No oven in kitchen. Smelly air con.

Review 9:Location was good. Friendly and helpful staff. Allowed us to store luggage for a few hours before check in and after check out free of charge.

Review 10:The Sofa bed was hard, not comfortable and the tap for the toilet was leaking. There were not enough cooking utensils in the kitchen.

Review 11:Location is good close to the city, market and public transport.

Review 12:We had three adults and the sofa bed was very uncomfortable , but was retified half way thru our stay with another mattress but then had nowhere to sit .

Review 13:The location

Review 14:4am building construction crew, outside our window, very nearby, started up their power tools and hammering. Waking everyone up. We had to yell out the window for them to cease. They started again at 7am.

Review 15:Very clean, Large room with king bed & well appointed kitchen to save you looking for a restaurant. You could cook your own meals. Staff very courteous.

Review 16:I had a room on Level 1, which doesnt have much of a privacy, especially if I had left the blinds up. Hence, I had to lower the blinds most of the time. Had to stay 10 days without much of a street view / natural light. Other than that, it's all ok.

Review 17:Location of the apartment. Simply great.

Review 18:Payment like not tally. When do booking I suppose we paid in full but when reach the hotel they asked me to pay one more night. Because we paid only one night to booking. com. So where should we make complain ?

Review 19:Everything in order

Review 20:2 Bedroom unit. No iron or ironing board. when we asked for one from reception it was broken and we couldn't use it. Lacked cooking utensils. very basic.

Review 21:Great location.

Review 22:the weather it rained but that was just unfortunate.

Review 23:THe place was really nice very clean all appliances seemed to be very new. everything you could need in the kitchen.

Review 24:Small pokey rooms, no high chair, no cot, room smelled of smoke, useless staff. I left and went elsewhere. Tv broken, air con broken.

Review 25:Unclean. Might be good enough to rip off foreign students but def not good enough for most people.

Review 26:There weren't tissues / paper towels in the kitchen .. Toilet paper holder was loose and beside telling the reception , nothing was done . I want given access to free wifi asi had booked the room through a website although I stayed for 5 nights and was out of the room throughout the day and would not have used much anyways .i did not like that

Review 27:Was comfortable

Review 28:I think they shouldn't ask guests to pay for the whole stay up front before you've seen the room. You should pay at the end of the stay, like other hotels.

Review 29:good room design

Review 30:Checkin was confusing (the total amount on my booking.com printout was split into two by the hotel; there were different deals for booking.com people (ie wifi) which wasn't clear to me beforehand; the space was very tight; the bathroom tiles were a bit dirty/mouldy; the TV didn't get a signal; there were always long lines at reception; the airport transport on Sunday was a total disappointment - the driver was late, then lied and lied and tried to be friendly. Very very disappointed..

Review 31:I liked Fernanda who was extremely helpful. The bed was comfortable and clean. The area was safe. I liked having a kitchenette and sitting area.

Review 32:The room we had was a little small but it was quite clean. My bed was a little shaky.

Review 33:The location is very accessible to other places in the city. The staffs were also very helpful.

Review 34:Was shown a better different room online, but had to stay in much smaller and Conjusted. No pool table. Gym area small and machines seemed no one ever cleaned. Swimming pool poorly maintained, very dirty on the sides and water seemed as if it was last changed a year ago.

Review 35:Getting from your room to your car was frustrating and long as you had to walk up the car park ramps to get to your car- there was no lift. No tv in the bedroom Windows opened out to car parks and noisy alley ways The main bedroom was too small- only approx 30cm between the bed and the walls all the way around. There was a mirror on one cupboard door but no room between the cupboard and the bed to stand in front of it.

Review 36:The location, the price, the excellent receptionist whom helped us with all of our questions. Good facilities for an overnight stay at a cheap place in the city if you're not wanting a boutique room with views of the city. will stay at again but we'll opt for the next best room package next time

Review 37:When I booked the apartment it was discounted but I was charged the normal rate despite discussing this with reception. I was told I would have to chase the matter up with booking.com.

Review 38:Proximity of apartment to Melbourne CBD,,, and full kitchen facilities.

Review 39:Just very small rooms, very busy staff on the front desk and some confusion on check in.

Review 40:Relatively cheap compared to other locations on this public holiday

Review 41:The bathroom smelled musty. There was no plug for the kitchen sink in room 4310 (sorry ... meant to tell you before we left).

Review 42:Our expectations matched the amount we paid. It is a good hotel for a short stay. All we needed was a base and a bed... we didn't use the pool or the little restaurant.

Review 43:Friendly front desk staffs, they were very helpful in any local transportation information if you needed. Good location, it only takes 10mins walk down to the city centre. No room service on Sat and Sun, I needed to DIY myself during the days. Wifi needed to pay.

Review 44:Nothing! :)

Review 45:The location was amazing. It is right next to a tram stop, and when I say right next to, I mean a 2-second walk from the hotel. The staff were very friendly, and I chatted with the guy who checked me in, and when I got to my room and the TV was not working, the front desk gave me another room, which was great. Price wise, it's great, right in the middle of Melbourne and the City's right at your doorstep. The room was cool, really warm and big, well equipped and I loved the kitchenette too. The bathroom was good, and there was great shower pressure. :) The furnishings are all modern and I really enjoyed my stay there. My absolute fave part of the hotel is the cafe that is attached to it; and you can have a coffee and salad and not need to travel too far for food. :)

Review 46:The photos of the room we rented didn't match what we got but staff did there best to fix that with a different room

Review 47:Easy access to Melbourne city via trams

Review 48:Rooms very small, the sofa bed was very uncomfortable, gave me a bad back, the shower tap is in the wrong spot on the wall so each time you turn in the shower the water turns off, it's very noisey with the tram just outside so it's hard to sleep, no free wifi and the car park is so tight and awkward

Review 49:The location was good, within walking distance to the markets shops and lygon st but not much else

Review 50:The sauna wasn't working and non heated pool, car park was separate from the hotel, and the cleaning staff had radios turned on all morning out front our room for a good couple hours... Made it hard to sleep. Maybe suggest a ear piece or turn it down. Was very noisy

Review 51:Bed was comfortable, the deck was good and close to the city, had a gym to use and a pool.

Review 52:Was not informed that the lift in the car park area wasnt the lift to go to room/hotel. Room had two single beds for a family which resulted in a very uncomfortable sleep for the adults.

Review 53:Location was perfect

Review 54:Rooms were tiny. Bed for 4th person was a "Clik Clak" sofa, very uncomfortable. No power points in the kitchen - we had to pull the fridge away from the wall & sit toaster & kettle on top of the fridge. Pool area was very hard to find & was dirty & unappealing. Noisy - we were on the 8th floor & could hear all street noises.

Review 55:Good location

Review 56:-The expression "can't swing a cat" comes to mind. Thought I was in Tokyo the room was so small. -Can't see TV from bed -Pool, gym & sauna are located in the building next door and are poorly signed -Gym is very average and tired -Sauna was out of order -Feels like some weird hotel/student accommodation, reception feels like a uni study area. -Rooms don't get serviced on Sunday's -I know you get what you pay for, all I'm saying is "I've had a lot more for less"

Review 57:Staff were accomodating and polite. Location is ok but it does sit just outside the free zone for trams.

Review 58:We had to request blankets, ironing board, iron, and even the TV antenna! There was no room to sit an relax, no carpets, a tiny shower recess, and no hair-dryer. The carpark was difficult to manoeuvre around. The alleyway below was very noisy as well.

Review 59:Overall there was only the location that we liked.

Review 60:Staff didn't give me any information about on site facilities. Windows wouldn't open and air con didn't really get into the sleeping area. Bathroom floor became wet when taking a shower despite care

Review 61:Location. Friendly staff

Review 62:I didn't realise that one night had not been deducted from my account 2 months earlier. Bond comes out immediately but for some reason takes 7 days to go back into account.

Review 63:Location, cleanliness.

Review 64:Unnecessary furniture such as study desks, fold out lounge bed wasn't very comfortable, no signs showing where reception is in regard to car park

Review 65:Location, nice self contained unit

Review 66:The rooms were small as was the sofa. Not a lot of room for more than 2 people when you are travelling in a group of 4. Towels were sparse, and hard to get more if it was a certain time of day. It reminded me of a UNiversity dorm room.

Review 67:The location was decent and away from all of the hussle and bussle but close enough and easy to get too that if you wanted it. It was 1 stop away from the free tram.

Review 68:The apartment we were in was on the side of Swanston St which made it very noisy, no sound proofing at all. Also we paid for wifi but it didn't work, tried explaining it to reception but all they could say that there were to many people using it, asked for our money back but was rudely denied, was not impressed at all as I dont believe in paying for something that doesn't work!

Review 69:The location was great, a 5 min walk to Lygon St or a 5 min tram an tou will be 200m from Fed Square

Review 70:There was nothing I didn't like.

Review 71:I love the location, in that I can walk everywhere, to Lygon Street, the shopping centres in Burke Street and Melbourne Central, and to the Botanic, Fitzroy and Carlton Gardens. The tram stop across the road is a real bonus. The friendliness and helpfulness of the staff creates a very pleasant atmosphere. The rooms are well appointed without being flashy, which would also attract a higher price tag. There is a very nice swimming pool for guests.

Review 72:Very small. booked in for 2 adults and 2 kids 11 and 12. They had a double, a single and a very small sofa lounge where the 11 yr olds feet overhung. A back entrance would have been appreciated as to walking with our luggage through the main st.

Review 73:Location and price were amazing.

Review 74:The flexibility of payment. I made my payment using cash during check-in but I decided to change the method to credit card. But i wont able to do so. Next is the internet is free for only 24 hours. After that you need to purchase for $14.95/24hr. If only we can get wifi included in the room bookings, that would be perfect.

Review 75:Great staffs. Very friendly. If you have any problem regarding your stay, just tell them and they will sort it out for you. I also like the fact that they have self-service laundry, so it is very convenience if you stay for a longer period. Foods are just few minutes away by walking. Halal restaurants are available too.

Review 76:My room was facing swanston street so at night I could hear the trams.

Review 77:My stay was relaxing. What I liked best was that it was a short walk to the market, the city centre and lyon street.

Review 78:Nothing

Review 79:Easy walking distance to CBD. Tram stop outside, therefore safe to return to at night. Security within the hotel is good. Prompt service when there was a problem. Kitchenette =cheap eating. Proximity to Lygon St. Reception staff exceedingly friendly and helpful.

Review 80:Ambiguity - 'Self Service Laundry' apparently also meant they weren't going to clean your room (or change your sheets).

Review 81:The hotel price was decent for its location in the CBD.

Review 82:one night of noisey neighbours, the whole place was like a uni. dorm.

Review 83:the room was just right for the two of us, the service from the cafe was very good.. nice food...

Review 84:No free intennet access is provided to Booking.com costumers, as compared with 24h free internet to costomers that booked at the hotel. Breakfast is rather poor from the price charged. The same brakfast can be purchased at the hoter cafe for lower price than charged.

Review 85:Location

Review 86:Fridge did not work, tv remote missing batteries, TV damaged and program viewing was compromised. Very disappointed with staff instructions re: parking, elevators, deposit and questioning me/ accusing me about missing batteries in remote. Beds not long enough, head against one wall feet against the other.

Review 87:It was central to were we had to be.

Review 88:Fold out couch not comfy, bad pillows, need more blankets Wifi shouldn't be that expensive/not free for people who book more than 2 nights.

Review 89:Great facilities, clean bathroom.

Review 90:noisy - tram right outside, no access direct to hotel from carpark and difficult with heavy bags to manage walking down ramps in carpark café not open for breakfast early enough on a Saturday if you are leaving early and want breakfast beforehand (only opens 8am - 8:30 am)

Review 91:cleanliness and location tram stop out front good but also noisy when trying to sleep

Review 92:View was into the next building. Looking into an alley. No privacy. People were moving wheely bins for half hr at 7am

Review 93:We stayed here as it was very close to draqulas. Walking distance to many great places.

Review 94:if you think a choice of two toasted sandwiches and a cup of coffee is breakfast .I didn't and asked for our money back because it was less than a fast food meal deal.

Review 95:not alot

Review 96:When we arrived they had lost one of our rooms and it took quite some time to resolve. The new room was in another area of the hotel which was disappointing as we were travelling as a family for a birthday celebration.

Review 97:Very close to CBD and other venues.

Review 98:the cafe for breakfast was not great. I had a cup of milky tea and there was no butter for my toast. Almost $8 for that, not happy. I think the coffee was good for my friends though.

Review 99:the venue was good and the staff were friendly.

Review 100:There weren't enough blankets / the blankets were a bit thin

Review 101:Great to not have to worry about arriving late with 24 hour check in, close to everything

Review 102:It was a lot smaller than it appeared in photos. I'm glad we were only staying for one night and that the kids were older. Room definitely too small for people with young kids.

Review 103:Extremely clean and request was taken into account when preparing room.

Review 104:Very noisy with other residents partying until 5.30am. The beds and pillows were very uncomfortable and the lounge was ridiculously small.

Review 105:Location and staff

Review 106:There was no iron/ ironing board in the room. Apparently one could be available from reception - still a bit of an inconvenience!

Review 107:It was very clean. I appreciated being able to store my luggage for later collection - the staff were very helpful.

Review 108:I've seen normal hotel rooms bigger then the "2 bedroom apartment". Had the single bed to which i was pretty much bigger then it. Walls were paper thin. Sliding doors on bedrooms.

Review 109:Location was perfect. On the Main Street but just outside the busy zone

Review 110:I booked the room purely on what I saw on the web and the two rooms Iended up with looked nothing like what was pictured on the internet. Thetwo bedroom apartments were very small, especially room 3908, thebathroom was old and dirty and barely fit a person in it. The worst partwas the 'sofa bed'. It was not a bed, there was no mattress tospeak of on the sofa and even the smallest person trying to sleep on itfelt the boards of the bed and nothing else. As a result two peopleslept on the single bed, which was just as uncomfortable. If youadvertise that four people can sleep in the room, please make sure thefour people can sleep in the room comfortably. This is what I paid forand I'm was very disappointed with the overall facilities of theroom. I won't be staying there again.

Review 111:The best part of the stay is the location of the hotel.

Review 112:The shower had mold, it as old and for our money could have gone somewhere a little newer, on arrival th reception staff member didn't make things easy by putting 3 different transaction in my card rather than all in one hit cause he didn't know what he was doing and I incurred the card charges.

Review 113:Location was ok

Review 114:No problems.

Review 115:The friendliness and efficiency of the staff, the facilities particularly the laundry, and the excellent location, which is within easy walking distance of the Arts Centre, Uni, Lygon Street and city shopping centres.

Review 116:The blanket could have been thicker.

Review 117:The location is in quiet part of town but within walking distance of the city centre. Clean room and friendly staff.

Review 118:Room 910 allocated to us was not as shown in the Booking. Com visual. Ithad a wall separating each bunk - not bed. This made 2 cubicles ofapproximately 2 metres by 1.5 metres for sleeping. This was clearly notof 3.5 star standard, and not as shown for a Twin room in theBooking.com visual. We decided to inform the Desk person of ourdissatisfaction and request a refund. This was refused and our entirepayment of $264 for 2 nights was taken by Arrow, despite my offer to pay$132 for one night. I am taking Consumer Affairs action formisrepresentation.

Review 119:Nothing was likeable. Room 910 was not as represented.

Review 120:due to the wife being in hospital I had to increase my stay twice and I feel that I was charged too much for the last 2 nights

Review 121:clean, comfortable staff very pleasant

Review 122:The $14.00 Breakfast consisted of an Egg and bacon burger same size as McDonalds and A cup of coffee or Juice. Could have had the same Quality and Quantity for a fraction of the price at McDonalds. Only when we said something did we get some salad and a small yogurt. If we had not pre-paid we would have gone elsewhere.

Review 123:The Parking was within the same building. Room was very Quite and Peaceful. Very restful Motel in a good proximity to the Museum and City

Review 124:They gave me a partment in another bulding which is so pad , no phone , if you want any things you need to go from that building to another building ,and no house keeping i dont reccomend any one to stay there .

Review 125:I dont like ant thing

Review 126:Having to go outside to get to neighbour building was quite cold. Maybe create a hallway between the two without having to go outside.

Review 127:The breakfast options were good and staff were friendly and helpful.

Review 128:Excellent location for Exhibition Hall and Lygon Street, also only about a 15 minute walk from city, tram stop right outside front door. Great value for money.

Review 129:Wifi not included, rather expensive (AUD 14 per day) and slow. Breakfast is served at the cafe next to the hotel and not value for money at all.

Review 130:Well equipped and clean apartment, with everything you need. Close to the city center.

Review 131:Rock hard bed, heating wasn't working and spiral staircase wasn't mentioned, not good for people with knee problems

Review 132:The checking out was the best part

Review 133:We arrived at the motel very late about 3:00am, so we asked the staff if we can check out late, the night shift staff said the latest time for checking out is 11:00am, we said we will check out at 11:00, but, we interrupt by the cleaner About 9:45. The cleaner come straight away to clean even not check see anyone at the room, we have to get up, and told the cleaner we will check out late. The cleaner left. But she left something on the bathroom, I have to go out to tell her. Why I come back, and I found my key not working and could not open the door. I had to come down to receiption desk to active my key. The staff I the receiption is so rude. Bad attitude. Bad experience.

Review 134:The wifi is not free, if you book via booking.com, you have to pay it separately. The connection is so pure, that the costs of nearly 15 AUD is a cheekiness. Either book you stay directly at the hotel (then it is included) or simply forget to use the internet connection.

Review 135:Swanston street is in the middle of the center. Good location for shopping, all kinds of restaurants can be found there, and the public transportation is good (tram station directly at the hotel entrance).

Review 136:No available short term parking when checking in.

Review 137:The apartment was fully contained, clean and comfortable. Great location in the CBD, second time we have stayed and will go back.

Review 138:Had to wait a bit for check in and out as staff wasnt there.altho my timing is very late but have inform them ahead.nevertheless the staff during checkin n out is frendly and can joke n smile even at 3am.

Review 139:Convenient way to city. Tram station just outside.quiet surroundings. Comfortable place.

Review 140:photos makes the place look better then it is. Our toilet was broke (flush button didnt work), sauna didnt work... i dont think i would go back there again.

Review 141:stuff was nice and the rooms were clean.

Review 142:The breakfast wasn't fantastic, they need to find a way to keep the food hot. Having to pay for wi-fi bcause we booked through Booking.com.

Review 143:Arrow had everything we needed at an affordable price. The tram was right outside the door when needed and most places we could walk to!

Review 144:Staff- front reception were not helpful, felt like you were interrupting their own personal conservation to ask to check in. And seriously i know it was a sunday but a smile or a friendly hi never hurts. Room was extremely loud.

Review 145:Location Cleaniness
