Reviews for Trident Hotel

Review 1:Nothing

Review 2:When we arrived at the hotel we were informed that we were upgraded to a suite. We were delighted, and it did not disappoint. The views were fantastic out over the harbour. The staff were extremely friendly and the food in the bar was gorgeous. It is only a short 5 min walk in to town.

Review 3:Lovely friendly staff, great room overlooking the harbour, delicious breakfasts. On our last night our room fell victim to one of the 'christmas storms' and we had a bit of rain coming in - which one of the staff managed to shore up with towels. On checking out the next morning, to our huge surprise, we were not charged for that night, which is great customer service. Highly recommend a stay here for all that it has to offer.

Review 4:tele was a bit dated with limited channels. oh an no biscuits ! limited parking, but managed to find a space each night luckily !

Review 5:large comfortable room. extremely large bed, lovely nights sleep...

Review 6:I've stayed in many many hotels around the world, and I can say truthfully, while fine and a decent value (especially considering the free parking and breakfast), the Trident hotel did not feel 4 star. I had stayed in a 3 star the night before in Galway and it was in a different league. This felt much more like a nice motel and not like a 4 star hotel.

Review 7:Included breakfast was incredible! Excellent staff, quick and friendly! Location was very nice near the water. Free parking.

Review 8:I was disappointed in the fabric of this hotel as opposed to the staff and service, it's a bit tired and in need of refurbishment. My initial impression of the uninspiring reception area was reinforced when I was handed my electronic room key in a reused, torn and dog eared little folder. A small point, but telling. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean, but the carpet had clearly been stained many times over the years and the television dates from another age.

Review 9:Comfortable room. The staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfast was very good.

Review 10:WiFi was strong but set up to censor content and advertising. It made it hard to get some news we were looking for and from contacting future sites.

Review 11:Fantastic location right at the dock. Our room had a lovely view, was recently renovated and was clean, and comfortable. Wi-fi was excellent. They also had a nice dinner promotion in their restaurant that was a very good value.

Review 12:Couldn't find fault - our stay was a very pleasant experience

Review 13:Fabulous location, pleasant helpful staff, the room was a delight (we were upgraded on arrival) and breakfast first class eg fresh fruit, yoghurt and compote in addition to beautifully cooked Irish breakfast etc). Excellent value for money.

Review 14:Not one thing

Review 15:A top shelf hotel with great location, friendly & helpful staff with intimate knowledge of every question with insider tips. I would rate it the Top hotel in Dublin.

Review 16:Terrific location, parking and comfort. Super value. Breakfast was very good as well. Staff was very helpful as well w suggestions on local amenities. 10-15 minutes to Old Head GC.

Review 17:The shower didn't work! We demanded a refund and were told we would get one, but are still awaiting this refund!

Review 18:The room looked great, the restaurant was excellent with great food.

Review 19:the first receptionist was not very friendly, we were early on arrival and she explained our room would be ready in an hour, we came back two hours later and the room was not ready. we ate in the hotel and it was not good, only ok.

Review 20:the location of the property was excellent to be fair.

Review 21:on the last morning, room service kept knocking on our door, despite the do not disturb sign. They kept asking us if we were checking out but check out wasn't until 12 - this started at about 9. it made us feel uncomfortable and under pressure!

Review 22:Everything else was perfect. Breakfast was amazing, as were the views and the staff, it was an excellently run hotel and very welcoming and we would definitely be back! :)

Review 23:No Bad experience, but a pool would be nice.

Review 24:Excellent staff. Exquisite breakfast cooked individually and fresh fruit. Good Bar and great bar food. Rooms with large bed . very clean and wonderful view

Review 25:The staff were unwilling to make an omelette for my breakfast...considering the other options involving eggs I thought this poor and the individual involved had no interest in what I wanted ...only what the menu had on offer. It wasn't too great a request I felt but the attitude of the staff made it much worse!

Review 26:I wouldn't say the bedding was as comfortable as I'm used to. We stayed at this hotel because of it's convenience to Old Head of Kinsale and for that it was perfect.

Review 27:The Irish breakfast was very nice and the staff was extremely helpful. Also the location and views are excellent

Review 28:Design of hotel means if you are on the far left wing, you have a long walk to the lift and stairs (not great for someone who has arthritis!). I don't know if we could have checked this out before we booked.

Review 29:Beautiful view of the bay and marina; Wonderful breakfast buffet; Pleasant staff; Lovely big windows in bedroom

Review 30:Staff were polite and considerate. Just the right balance of attention. Rooms were cleaned regularly with fresh towels daily. Bed was comfortable and I have never slept so well. Beautiful location. Couldn't have asked for a more restful stay.

Review 31:The breakfast and the staff in the breakfast room. I had forgotten to change the time on my alarm and arrived down for breakfast 30 mins before they were open. Instead of turning me away they gave me coffee and looked after me. Well done.

Review 32:Had to pull curtains otherwise you could not get undressed. Once you pulled curtains you could not see a thing as very poor lighting. Very dated needs modernization.

Review 33:The view

Review 34:The Trident's location is beautiful! The window in our room was huge, and looked right onto the harbor. We were extremely pleased with our daily breakfast and dinner in the pub. We will certainly be back!

Review 35:yes , first impression at reception was cause for concern and it just got worse . credit card... had to be card.. used on check out.???.asked about size of room, looked up our booking, told in short our booking was a standard double room.. very embarrassing ...Hated going near reception for anything

Review 36:nothing really

Review 37:Nothing to criticise. All OK

Review 38:Nice location overlooking harbour with good free parking facilities. Helpful staff, nice room with good view and all easy access to town centre. Good staff, good breakfast, nice place.

Review 39:Dated tv needs upgrading and hardly any wifi signal in room ... Only strong on bar/ restaurant attached to hotel. Also there was no privacy ( nets or blind ) available in room. Large window little privacy from other guests outside.

Review 40:Great bed and shower. Lovely staff especially head bar man in bar and more mature Irish lady serving breakfast .

Review 41:The room was a little strange with three single beds in an awkward set up. However given that it is a historical building it is understandable.

Review 42:The owners were fabulous. They are humorous and astute. A perfect combination.

Review 43:WIFI only worked in lobby. Parking was limited because there were no tours that would have filled many rooms and taken little space. Not a lot of hot water in the morning.

Review 44:rooms very clean, quiet and short walk to down town. Great breakfast. sitting in the lobby using wifi overheard a lot of people loved the restaurant.

Review 45:WiFi not great and our key kept malfunctioning ,no parking spots when we arrived

Review 46:the view from our room was fab,the breakfast is lovely,Karen and Joan in the restaurant were so nice and helpful,

Review 47:lighting in bathroom inadequate

Review 48:everything. Great room, wonderful view, lovely dining room and really interesting artworks everywhere. Highly recommended

Review 49:Poor TVs. Restaurant seats hadn't been cleaned after previous diners. Car park overcrowded. Evening meal disappointing.

Review 50:Good large bedrooms. Good bath and shower.

Review 51:Room was stuffy even with the window opened, and no air conditioning.

Review 52:Showering facilities were lovely, and cleanliness of room and linen were excellent. Great View with big windows.

Review 53:Disappointed that we weren't offered a refund for breakfast which we couldn't have due to Ryanair changing our flights. We were offered a concessionary breakfast which we didn't accept as we were leaving too early.

Review 54:Excellent location.

Review 55:Only problem our room was a bit far from reception. But at least it got us walking lol lol

Review 56:How clean & friendly the staff were. We had a fabulous weekend

Review 57:We didn't stay there long enough!

Review 58:We liked the view, the restaurants and the town of Kinsale is an Irish treasure. The Trident hotel was perfect for us because we love being on the water and its is so close to town you can walk everywhere.

Review 59:Ordered a meal in the restaurant before 2 large parties arrived. 45 minutes later, both parties had been served starters and we were still waiting. When the meal did arrive, the restaurant Manager was asked 'why has it taken so long when we ordered before the big parties'. She answered, well, you did want your steak well done! This was wrong as I ordered medium rare and it should not have taken nearly an hour to do 2 straight forward meals. Very poor....

Review 60:The location, overlooking the bay was great. Short walk into the village centre and all facilities. Huge bed although it was a little on the hard side for me.

Review 61:A small one: the hairdryer was so weak that my wife gave up using it. Our heating was not adjustable, so the radiators mad the room very hot. We were fine, however, with the window open since it balanced out the heat.

Review 62:The staff at this hotel were great! There were very friendly and extremely helpful with recommendations and suggestions, as well as with anything we needed: We requested a harbor view room and we received a smoking room. We explained that we didn't want that and the immediately gave us a new smoke free harbor room, despite being having a lot of guests. They really were extremely accommodating! The room had a beautiful harbor view and was very spacious and clean. They were very quiet as well and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was clean and had a strong shower and headed towels, which we enjoyed. They have a very large, free parking lot and they're a quick 7-ish minute walk to the town center. The breakfast had a combination of buffet continental and menu items, including the included full Irish, and it was all served in their harbor view dining area. The bar was also well stocked and had reasonable prices.

Review 63:Place is tired, not very clean, definitely not a four star. Carpets are old and beat up. Room walls paper thin, could hear the people in the next room hving a quiet conversation. Upholstery on ar chairs badly wprn and tonged with baked in dirt. Needs a major revamp. Would nwver stay there again.

Review 64:Rigt on the water, breakfast was very good

Review 65:The Trident hotel was what is expected in a hotel. Location with ample parking, easy access to a clean and comfortable room with a great view and most of all great staff and food. The people you meet and the place you stay means as much, if not more, as to what you see,

Review 66:Nothing everything was good very pleased with everything.

Review 67:The room was a good size over looking the harbour big bed and breakfast was very good cooked fresh next morning.

Review 68:room service a little slow for ice. Need ice machines badly. Cleaners knocking loudly on the door at 9:30am Sunday morning to gain access - aarrgh! Surely this is far too early to be hammering on the door - and wouldnt go away until I got out of bed and answered the door.

Review 69:Loved the view of the harbour. Loved the breakfast offerings: Kippers and plaice were very nice. Food in the bar was excellent.

Review 70:Splendid location. Clean, comfortable, good food, service by staff was very good and helped us with a particular (personal)problem affecting our time of arrival..

Review 71:Fully sold out so parking was very tight, girlfriend wasn't feeling well and we asked for water guy wasnt super friendly (it was late at night). Minor issues & would recommend.

Review 72:Massive bed & nice view. Breakfast service very friendly.

Review 73:Loud late night noise from bar. Shower door didn't close properly. Floor in bedroom creaked badly. All of the above are minor issues.

Review 74:Good location, nice rooms with great views! Staff were very helpful.

Review 75:Not much is open in Kinsale this time of year, but that is not the fault of the hotel.

Review 76:My husband and I went to Kinsale on a value deal from bookings.com at the Trident Hotel and we received a complimentary upgrade to an executive room, so this was an excellent value. Located on the bay with a nice view of the harbor and close enough to walk to town. Breakfast was included and they were accommodating to my gluten free needs. We also ate in the restaurant which was very good again with nice views of the harbor. Staff was friendly and helpful.

Review 77:Smoking room (it's our fault - we should have asked for a non-smoking room at check-in). Also, noise carries between rooms.

Review 78:Located in the town and by the water. Friendly staff. We would recommend this hotel.

Review 79:the heating was set to a very high temperature (>25 deg). there was no option to lower the heat in the room itslef and it was suggested to turn on the airconditioning to control the temperature

Review 80:great location and reasonable prices in December. great view over the bay of Kinsale from the Breakfast restaurant

Review 81:Reception/lobby area a little dull and lifeless? Both Bar and Restaurant not adjacent to lobby, so no 'buzz' ....but of course no noise too!

Review 82:Super waterside location, in Kinsale but on edge of town, so quiet. Beautiful view from large picture window over Bay.

Review 83:Nothing to speak of although if you are on business and reliant on network communication, the Wi-Fi coverage is a little patchy.

Review 84:The Trident is an excellent hotel located a short walk from the centre of town. Its location is picturesque and quiet but a stone's throw from many good restaurants and the town's facilities. The rooms are spacious, well equipped and comfortable. The cuisine is very good whether in the Wharf Bar or Pier One Restaurant. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and look forward to my next visit.

Review 85:The only problem we had was with our shower. It wouldn't drain. However, the staff quickly jumped into action and gave us another room on the same floor to shower.

Review 86:The location was perfect. Friendly staff and excellent pub on the ground floor.

Review 87:The Trident Hotel has an excellent location with great views from all the rooms. The pub has very tasty food and great service. The buffet breakfast with cold and hot items including smoked salmon was delicious and included in the reasonable room rate. We would definitely stay at the Trident again.

Review 88:Nothing really but the floors were very squeaky. More funny than annoying :-)

Review 89:The view from the room was spectacular. Hugh comfortable bed and I liked the way the bathroom was separated by a small corridor.

Review 90:Room view overlooked the carpark so we had to keep the curtain closed.

Review 91:Excellent location overlooking the harbour with easy access to the town. Good breakfast selection. Helpful staff.

Review 92:We were only here for one night and didn't arrive to quite late. Rooms were very nice. Staff recommended a fabulous restaurant to eat in that night and the hotel bar was lovely. Location was perfect, right on the water front. Would love to come back for a longer visit.

Review 93:The rooms and decor of the hotel in General could do with a facelift. The bedrooms are a bit tired looking and so is the restaurant.

Review 94:The location of the hotel is fabulous. Our room was looking out onto kinsale harbour which was lovely. It was in walking distance of the other attractions in Kinsale.

Review 95:Kinsale is a fantastic town to visit, and it is wonderful that it not only boasts a significant collection of dining establishments but an equally fine collection of accommodation. The Trident is an excellent hotel, overlooking a small marina and in a quiet location.

Review 96:I found nothing I did not like.

Review 97:Very nice room with huge window looking onto the harbor. Can walk to town. Great bar and restaurant. Staff was very nice. Had a quiet room and slept extremely well.

Review 98:bedroom carpet and furnishings were ok.. I spent most of my time either looking out the window or walking by the harbor

Review 99:Location by the harbor and breakfast..plus the huge window in our bedroom

Review 100:Reception staff could have been friendlier and more approachable.

Review 101:Great Breakfast.

Review 102:Just seemed a bit dated the decor

Review 103:Fabulous location , staff very nice, room big and with great view of the harbour. Big comfy bed!
