Reviews for Camin Hotel Colmegna

Review 1:as always perfect location perfect facilities perfect staff the staff in this beautiful hotel are a credit to the owner lara. even when very busy with full restaurant and catering a large wedding the minimal staff worked with efficiency and professionalism yet still giving the personal touch. many a first class hotel could learn from this hotel

Review 2:Evening dinner was OK nothing exceptional. My duck was very undercooked and tough. The replacement duck wasn't much better.

Review 3:Good buffet breakfast. Efficient ceiling fan has the weather was hot. OK for one night stay but not two.

Review 4:The Tognetti Family from Napa, CA visited to see where our relatives originated from. We found the Camin Hotel and just loved the Hotel, Staff and Management. We will be back and will be sure to tell everyone we know about this lovely Hotel. tognettiwines.com

Review 5:My g/f and I stayed at this hotel recently. We booked a premium room with a lake view. However, when we arrived a previous guest had smoked (against policy) in the room, so we asked to be moved. The staff patiently showed us 4 alternative rooms in order to ensure that we were happy, and sent up a complimentary bottle of prosecco and delicious cheese and ham for our troubles. This level of service was present in all staff members from receptionists, to waiters, to gardeners. The restaurant at the hotel is great for dinner (excellent food, wine and service), and the breakfast was first class. Also, it is well worth checking out the beautiful lakeside gardens. We spent a delightful hour sitting on the hotel pontoon in the sunshine with our feet in the lake watching the world go by.

Review 6:We've stayed in this hotel 3 times and it gets better each time. Thestaff, the food and facilities just keep improving. We travelled fromAustralia especially to stay in this hotel and visit Luino in 2000 andagain this year for my 60 birthday. The scenery from the hotel isbreathtaking! It's quiet, romantic, friendly and relaxing. Weenjoyed the delicious breakfasts each morning and at night theirspecialities at dinner all served and greeted by friendly, respectfuland competent staff. Can't wait to return.

Review 7:Uncertainily over room booked on arrvial . offered several laterntives , some of which didnt match waht we had booked on line.

Review 8:Location . ambiance, restaurant staff, food, sswimming facitilities

Review 9:The only thing that was less than perfect was the W-Lan quality. We stayed at Camin Colmegna on a business trip, and hoped for a connection good enough to use VoIP for longer phone conferences. That didn't work out, but the connection was more than good enough for regular internet use.

Review 10:Pure paradise.

Review 11:Nothing... this place was wonderful!

Review 12:One of our favourite finds on our trip! I just wish we could have stayed for longer. The room was lovely, nice and cool and smelled divine! The bed was so comfortable and a good size. Dinner and breakfast were both delicious with wonderful views and very friendly and helpful staff.

Review 13:Small Quantity of food for price Limited hot breakfast

Review 14:Staff friendliness & assistance Attention to children Comfortable & clean room Homely feel with style

Review 15:We had booked a deluxe room with a lake view, but it turned out that none of the deluxe rooms actually have lake views. The hotel staff were very accommodating and after one night, moved us to a superior room with a lake view.

Review 16:Amazing location on the lake.

Review 17:Taken into the "attic" three flights of small stairs with two months of luggage - room had no windows at all , stone walls - refused to stay here , given another room , acceptable but access difficult however some help was given

Review 18:Staff excellent , friendly and very helpful- food great , location out if this world Place to rest up .

Review 19:Rooms very small and cluttered with unnecessary things- Like decorative pillows on bed etc. Food was very poor. Lasagna I had was the worst in 50 years of eating lasagna. Kitchen was a disaster.

Review 20:The location

Review 21:Very good and friendly service, clean, new and well-kept rooms in traditional Italian style and an outstanding view! Really enjoyed our stay there.

Review 22:although a roombooking was in place at arrival we were told no room was available. worst experience ever. staff should be fully blamed for this mess.

Review 23:breakfast buffet could be of better quality

Review 24:the garden is amazing with all facilities, rooms, staff, all good.

Review 25:every thing

Review 26:Nothing

Review 27:View and gardens

Review 28:There was a wedding on the day we went so they totally took over the whole atmosphere and space of the hotel. We did feel like the poor relatives locked out as the area they took over was where we would eat. We got shunted elsewhere. Never mind, we were only there overnight. Let's hope their marriage lasts longer than many!!

Review 29:What a view over Lake Maggiore we had. The gardens around the lake and little pathways was set up in the 1800s so is full of quirky areas - lovely, don't miss it. We saw the Eurasian Hornet that we have to keep out of Britain as they hover outside of beehives eating through a whole hive of bees - I have 2 beehives so was fascinated at seeing the enemy in action. Hotel was good too!!

Review 30:Only downside there is some road noise but not enough to spoil a stay there.

Review 31:Beautiful location overlooking the lake. Very friendly and helpful staff. Delicious food. Spotlessly clean. Comfortable beds. Gardens and grounds all very well looked after and attractive.

Review 32:Lacked a swimming pool. Expensive compared to other hotels with the same facilities.

Review 33:Excellent location and facilities. Friendly staff who were accommodating. Excellent breakfast buffet. Splendid surrounding environment. Lovely restaurant and food.

Review 34:We were travelling with our sons, 14 and 17 years old and booked a quadruple room (for 4 adults and with 2 double beds). On arrival we were given a room with only one double bed and a pull-up bunk bed, the top bunk held up by a flimsy looking metal fold-up construction. One son was too tall to even fit in, the other one terrified of being squashed should the construction fold...Maybe fine for 2 small children but not for teenagers or adults! We asked for a room with 2 double beds (as booked) and were told the only other option would be 2 separate double bedrooms at 100€ extra charge. Despite our protest we had to pay, they insisted that we had actually been given an upgrade! We decided to move rooms and pay - better than a sleepless night on our 11 hour road trip!

Review 35:Restaurant very good, staff at Restaurant very friendly.

Review 36:Bathroom floor in the room was very cold, shower a bit small. Restaurant is very nice and serves good food, but is a bit on the expensive side. Hotel is just outside of Luino - although this is quite a big town, we did not find so much to do there apart from walking along the lake and eating gelato :)

Review 37:This is a very charming and romantic hotel with very friendly staff! We spent two nights in this hotel in April and would like to come back in summer some time when one can swim in the lake and profit even more from the private garden of the hotel. Rooms and the whole place is decorated with a lot of care. The restaurant has two terraces, both with a magnificent view of the lake - it looks like a wedding location! The private garden along the lake is very large with many hide-away places to relax and enjoy the sun. Food at the restaurant was very good. Staff very friendly - we felt very comfortable!

Review 38:Room was Located groundfloor with window and door to the main access to the hotel and restaurant. It was noisy up to late night. No 100% privacy were available. The curtain didn't close well. We could hear our neighbors using their bath.

Review 39:We had a standard room with a small bed. The Design is a bit old fashion but everything was clean. The room were a special prepaid offer here. but at check in we were asked to Upgrade for more money. 18 € for one breakfast and 10 € for dog is quite expensive. We wondered about the price policy...

Review 40:Without knocking the Camin Hotel (I should of done my homework on the location first) Colmenga is a small lake/hillside village with one main through road. Somewhat remote with no possibilities or amenities other than the hotel for evening entertainment. There is a local restaurant but it was close on one day of our 2 night stay in Colmenga. The next larger towns are about 2km in each direction. The road traverses through tunnels and galleries. In the direction of Luino there almost no footpaths, I wouldn’t recommend walking there; especially at night.

Review 41:All the staff were polite, helpful and friendly. Wonderful hotel park/garden and lake views. The right place for anyone that wants a quite relaxing time.

Review 42:This hotel was a big bonus to our trip - its location is so perfect, the panorama of the lake is stunning. We were touched by a very sincere hospitality and friendliness of all of the staff. I wish the weather could be better to enjoy the "secret" garden.

Review 43:Not quite enough loungers or room for all the guests to sunbathe.

Review 44:The hotel is very nicely decorated, the gardens are magnificent with stunning views over the Lake Maggiore. The staff were very kind, and we met many couples/families who have been coming here for years. They accept dogs, which is lovely. Very friendly athmosphere. Highly recommended.

Review 45:For the price, it really should be air conditioned. The fans are set on one low speed and it was just too hot. The decor is dated and the water pressure in the shower was non-existent.

Review 46:The view and private beach area were gorgeous! The staff were very helpful and the restaurant served lovely food.

Review 47:The restaurant is elegant, but the music, heavy violin with recorded backup, was dominant.

Review 48:This is a beautiful property in a beautiful place. The staff is very nice and attentive.

Review 49:Dogs in the restaurant and on the beach. A few dogs are fine, but there were too many raising hygiene concerns. Poor parking facilities

Review 50:The location (if you have a car) The facilities The food

Review 51:There was absolutely nothing to dislike.

Review 52:We were welcomed as if we were regular visitors, friendly, welcoming, smiles, helpful, enthusiastic etc etc a model of how it should be done. We were only staying for one night - so the staff were even more deserving of praise.

Review 53:Poor wireless in room. Paying for coffee in room - in hotels that range coffee is usually free of charge.

Review 54:Almost everything! This is a stylish hotel, with a spirit of past. Great design, wonderful garden, kind staff, very rich and tasty breakfast. Everybody was helpful and friendly.

Review 55:We were looking forward to doing some walking during our stay, butit is difficult because of the location of the hotel - very near tothe street, and close to 2 tunnels, which makes finding a place towalk along the water difficult. Also, rooms need updating as theylooked "tired."

Review 56:We enjoyed the breakfast - quite a large selection! Had a fun timeswimming in Lago Maggiore, in the small park right beside the hotel.Wonderful vistas and views. Nice staff, who spoke English very well.

Review 57:We arrived late to the hotel, about an hour after the kitchen hadclosed. The staff was very gracious and welcoming and opened the kitchenback up so that our family could eat after a long day on the road. Thestaff was always very helpful and accomodating. We had a beautiful, clean room with 3 windows that had a wonderful view of the lake. We areAmericans traveling with two small children and we found the hotel to bevery family friendly.

Review 58:Our room had only slight water views despite booking a lakefront view.

Review 59:The staff were very friendly and helpful with good English which was helpful for us.The waterfront views were fantastic especially from dining room. The meals were great, good variety for breakfast.

Review 60:The location is right on Lake Maggiore just north of Luino. The terrace and restaurant are on the lake. Our room was quite large and very comfortable with a wet rom/bathroom. The bed was large and very comfortable. The food was very good. I had King Prawns and my wife spaghetti with Lobster. All very fresh and plentiful. The staff were very helpful and pleasant. We went back on another night for a meal even though we were not residents. Not cheap but good value.

Review 61:the town is a bit small, makes it difficult to walk to many things like a better variety of restaurants and shops

Review 62:beautiful hotel grounds, very friendly staff

Review 63:Beautiful location. Right on the lakeside with direct access to the lake(option not taken in March) Fantastic terraced gardens and restaurantwith views to die for. Our room had a lake view and was verycomfortable. Breakfast very comprehensive and well presented. Staff veryfriendly and couldn't be more obliging

Review 64:Room was rather small

Review 65:Friendly staff Wonderful lake views Hotel grounds Good food Very relaxed atmosphere Plenty of sun beds

Review 66:road noise

Review 67:friendly atmosphere/ relaxed Bar restaurant, food quality good service

Review 68:Food in the restaurant was not great.

Review 69:Great location on the side of the lake.

Review 70:nothing!

Review 71:Lakeside setting and grounds lovely.....very friendly staff....

Review 72:The rubber undersheets.

Review 73:The service was excellent. The gardens were absolutely wonderful.

Review 74:- Location - large beautiful magic garden at the lake - delicious dinner and breakfast - romantic decorated rooms

Review 75:Rude head-waiter.

Review 76:Graet location; wonderful garden. Not all rooms had a/c...

Review 77:No AC in our room, just a fan, not enough for summer!

Review 78:Nice and friendly staff. Cozy hotel, clean and nice, good restaurant, nice TV options.

Review 79:Wonderful hotel in beautiful location, facilities were suberb, staffextremely friendly and helpful, good food, would thoroughly recommend.
