Reviews for Perryville House

Review 1:Could have improved the experience by having bottled water and tea and coffee making facilities in the room. At €300 a night one would expect this.

Review 2:Friendly welcome, good sized room and great location. Breakfast was great.

Review 3:Andrew and his wife run a wonderful hotel....very welcoming...wonderful old building with great charm and updated amenities.....and a great breakfast....right on the harbour front

Review 4:Everything was awesome! The staff was kind and helpful and so grateful we were there (hands down the best feature). The breakfast was delicious and mostly from local sources and super fresh. The location was within walking distance from everything. The room was large and comfortable with big windows with an amazing view... It was perfect! Even the bathroom was great... There was a towel warmer and the shower head was like a massage! I felt like I was at the spa! They also had many bouquets of beautiful fresh flowers throughout. Our only regret was that we didn't stay longer!

Review 5:Pennyville House awaits you with a very warm welcome, the house being tastefully furnished steeped in history in the huge oil paintings and tapestry's that hang on all the walls.Friendly staff. Excellent breakfast. Good location, restaurants and bars.We will definitely visit again.

Review 6:intermittent wi fit reception

Review 7:Warm friendly welcome , staff professional but very friendly . House is beautifully kept . Gave excellent advice on where to eat in Kinsale

Review 8:only one negative would have loved a kettle in the room for a cuppa on return from listening to traditional music it would have seemed rude to ask for one at 1am in the morning?!

Review 9:A beautiful establishment! Spotlessly clean, superb breakfast, an amazing base to explore Kinsale and surrounding area. Thanks to Andrew for booking Fishy fishy for us that was also a wonderful restaurant! We had a super time and won't leave it 42 years to come back! Thank you

Review 10:For the price some facilities not there (eg no hospitality tray in the room). Having to leave my key every time went out and then buzz to get back in (although always someone there to get key from). I'm vegan and no concessions made for this at breakfast although I did enquire ahead, but a case of taking things out of what was there which left me feeling hungry in the mornings, although everywhere in Kinsale and Cork very similar - dairy in everything!

Review 11:Really well situated in Kinsale. Quite old fashioned and quirky. Really clean and comfortable. Owners and staff lovely and very helpful.

Review 12:On arrival , the greeting at reception was offhand and very casual. We could have arrived at a bad time. The room we slept in though very comfortable was over the kitchen and the noise woke us up at 6am. Fortunately we were able to move to another room and there was no issue when we asked ,

Review 13:the location was excellent and the premises very comfortable . The breakfast was delicious and the staff serving the breakfast were very pleasant.

Review 14:Nothing to add - we were only sorry we couldn't stay longer due to our own schedule

Review 15:Hospitality was excellent, all staff were very friendly and helpful

Review 16:48 steps to climb to bedroom. Obscured windows in bedroom. If they weren't would be looking into a roof not a garden.

Review 17:Staff very friendly. Excellent food. Very good location.

Review 18:Everything was perfect--nothing we didn't like. We wished we had stayed longer.

Review 19:We loved the town the location of the Bed and Breakfast; very accessible for walking to everything. Our rooms were spacious, very comfortable beds, and our delicious breakfast was held in a wonderful dining area with a variety if food to choose. We would definitely return.

Review 20:No facilities for tea in bedroom. No offer of refreshments on arrival. Musty smell in bedroom. Old paintings in bedroom.

Review 21:2 large sitting rooms and bedroom. Location excellent.

Review 22:Excellent guest house all the way around! Location perfect, breakfast was very good, Andrew, the owner, was very charming and helpful on all, big and small. Rooms were very clean, quiet, and well appointed.

Review 23:Impossible to find anything not to like.

Review 24:We were greeted by Andrew who helped with our luggage and checked us into this beautiful, luxurious, central guesthouse, filled with fresh flowers, and in a superb location for exploring Kinsale, Summer Cove and Charles Fort. Andrew booked a table for us at the lovely restaurant, 'Fishy Fishy', where we wanted to eat that evening. Wonderful service at a truly splendid, magnificently presented guesthouse, which extended to the delicious breakfast in the beautiful dining room - with a very wide variety of choice of local produce, fresh fruit, cheeses, breads, local honey in its comb and also cooked options.

Review 25:Booking request inferred we had bath but not all rooms have one ..disappointed about no bath... Enjoy a bath after day of golf which is why we were in Ireland

Review 26:Location and ambience..comfortable rooms

Review 27:The first thing I noticed was all the fresh flowers. There were several different arrangements, all gorgeous with a beautiful aroma . The decor was enviting for a rommantic Stay for a couple as well as for a family get away. The rooms Were spacious and very well kept. The bathrooms were also large and very groomed. Last but not least the breakfast was delicious fresh baked goods , honey from the family bee farm and of course fresh prepared Irish breakfast. Overall a 10/10.

Review 28:Not really a bad experience, but since our room faced the mail street it was a bit noisy at times. However, that was a small price to pay for the beautiful view.

Review 29:Beautiful room, great breakfast, good location were just some of the amenities. The hosts were super helpful in so many ways.

Review 30:Andrew, the proprietor, makes this property sing. His personality is evidenced throughout it from the comfortable rooms to the tastefully decorated public rooms. His knowledge of the area and willingness to assist you with travel details was a terrific help. The breakfast was fabulous, served by an ever cheerful staff and included the best honey I may have ever tasted, made by... you guessed it, Andrew!

Review 31:We were given very helpful advice by the innkeeper on driving in Ireland. We enjoyed the gift shop and dining area. Perryville was convenient to all the sights in medieval Kinsale so we would go there again.

Review 32:Our room had frosted glass windows - I would assume because the only view there would have been, had we any, was a wall across an alley. We found the carpet was extremely hard - not very good for walking on bare feet! The breakfast had a limited choice.

Review 33:The location is very good for getting around Kinsale and the bed was comfortable.

Review 34:Everything about this hotel says excellence. Greeted by the owner who could not have been more helpful with advise, super room, quiet , breakfast was fantastic and the location perfect. A great stay.

Review 35:Would have liked an armchair in the room .. And tea/coffee making facilities.

Review 36:Lovely comfortable public rooms. Great breakfast. Owners welcoming, informed and helpful. Staff very friendly.

Review 37:My chats with Andrew. Andrew was very helpful and I enjoyed his Irish wit. He made our stay very memorable. The breakfast was the best. I highly recommend the Perryville House. We loved the location and ambiance of this small hotel.

Review 38:Hard to think of anything we didn't like.

Review 39:Walking distance to historical sites. Perryville House was run by friendly, helpful people. Excellent accommodations.Excellent restaurants.

Review 40:Great hosts - met at the door with a real Irish welcome. Beautiful period hotel which feels more like someone's home. Breakfast was the best selection we have ever had.

Review 41:The very warm welcome, the atmosphere in the guest house (which feels far more like a luxury hotel), the helpful owner who gave excellent advice about where to eat (and produced the menus for the local restaurants), large comfortable bedroom and good shower room en suite, fantastic breakfast buffet with home-produced local suppliers (there's even a photograph in the dining room of the happy hens which provided the delicious eggs - which were scrambled to perfection). Would love to return. Not the cheapest rates but the place delivers in spades, so well worth going above my budget.

Review 42:A pair of very noisy guests in an adjacent room having a prolonged argument at 3 in the morning required the intervention of the night manager

Review 43:Wonderful staff, great breakfasts

Review 44:Nothing. This is a first class property in every respect.

Review 45:Perryville House was perfect. Period. The room was spotlessly clean and comfortable. Andrew the owner was warm, friendly and helpful. And, the breakfast was superbly memorable.

Review 46:The location was very close to the harbour and to all the restaurants and music venues I n town. Very convenient for a short stay. Staff were super helpful. Breakfast was delicious!

Review 47:On website, the picture of the "superior" room indicates that it has a water view, which is why we booked at that hotel. Superior room does not mean that it comes with a water view, which is very disappointing. If a request for a water view is not able to be meant either Booking.com or Perryville should contact and advise accordingly.

Review 48:Location overlooking the harbour, parking, quality of furnishings, quality of breakfast

Review 49:Nothing

Review 50:The management and staff were excellent. The owner, Andrew was able to get me on his golf course, Old Head. It was spectacular. Everything about our visit was wonderful

Review 51:There was a lot of road noise. Definitely request a room away from the front of the house.

Review 52:Loved the bathroom. The breakfast and dining room were great.

Review 53:Absolutely nothing!

Review 54:We arrived early to booking in, and they welcomed us enthusiastically and got our car parked in their private lot in the wonderful downtown of Kinsale.

Review 55:It would have been nice to have coffee and tea making facilities in the room.

Review 56:The Perryville House is simply lovely, I recommend anyone coming to Kinsale to stay here. Also, until you've been some where, you can't know if it is central to the sites, Perryville House is.

Review 57:A very small minus was the very limited menu selection for breakfast where there is "room for improvement" compared to other B&Bs I stayed in Kinsale and other parts of Ireland.

Review 58:Very friendly and helpful staff! Great location with free private parking!

Review 59:1. On my arrival, my two radiators were hot. So was the weather. I never quite managed to turn off the radiator in the bedroom - I imagine that the valve is a bit leaky. 2. I do like a bar of soap. I had to go to to the pharmacy across the road to buy one (Euro 1.50).

Review 60:I was a little disappointed that there were no coffee and tea making facilities in our room. After a long day sightseeing it would have been nice to have a cuppa on return!

Review 61:The location of Perryville House is 2nd to none. We had a wonderful view from our room, it is right in the centre of Kinsale and yet manages to have a relaxed and quiet ambience.

Review 62:Above all, delightful staff and entertaining owner. Highly professional but with typically Irish gentility and humour. Stylish accommodation, kept pristine.

Review 63:Perfect location, beautiful Guesthouse, delightful decor, very comfortable rooms. Breakfast was excellent. Staff and management very friendly and helpful. Highly recommend

Review 64:Nothing to say !!!!!!

Review 65:Location,beautiful house inside and out, friendly welcome, helpful staff, good food ,lovely room and a great ambience throughout. A Bit Of Class !!!!

Review 66:Only one minor inconvenience and something typical for older accomodations. The hot and cold faucet were separate in the sink making it difficult to use and the shower was small and a bit uncomfortable to maneuver in.

Review 67:The location was perfect and the attention to detail in décor and historic design was amazing. Our stay felt special and personal as members of the same family which staffed our arrival and departure were attentive, courteous and friendly. Kinsale is a charming town and you can easily and conveniently explore it from Perryville House. Staff recommended Fishy Fishy for dinner and made our reservation. It was amazing. Overall a memorable stay.

Review 68:asked for bar of soap and shower cap but told did not supply then. Only Body Wash. No information in bedroom. Only able to get glass of undrinkable wine even though notice says drinks are available

Review 69:Location and comfort.

Review 70:2 flights of stairs with no elevator.

Review 71:Extremely personable and helpful proprietor. Changed our golf tee time, booked us a table for dinner etc. Best breakfast in 3 weeks travelling in Ireland. Homemade jams, compotes, pastries. Lovely cafe and shop. Delightful staff.

Review 72:The few staires without a bannister to hold.

Review 73:We were greeted by Andrew a wonderful host, nothing was too much trouble,so helpful.Try his honey at breakfast. The staff are very friendly, breakfast was lovely, great homemade marmalade.Wish we could have stayed longer.

Review 74:Restaurant service in the evening very slow ,but I think maybe staff hadn't turned up and they were a bit over stretched . Food excellent .

Review 75:Just a beautiful hotel , staff outstanding , felt like a home from home. I left clothes behind in a drawer and they posted them home to me . Will be back again and would definitely recommend to friends. Rugby starting sooner will be booking into this hotel for the season.

Review 76:A bit pricey (we paid 160 Euro a night), but compensated for by the lovely breakfasts and helpful staff arranging so many activities.

Review 77:Andrew, the owner, is helpful beyond belief and funny. He recommended activities, made dinner reservations, got tee times, arranged transportation. The location is excellent for touring Kinsale. Our room and the breakfasts were really nice.

Review 78:Lack of tea making facilities in guest room - some rooms devoid of any view at all whereas others have superb views.

Review 79:Elegant and nicely appointed Gentleman's Townhouse with a lovely story to tell - managed by gracious hosts. Breakfast is a delight. The adjacent contemporary Shop and Tea Rooms with Gardens are stocked with the best of Ireland.

Review 80:A little overpriced

Review 81:Located in town centre Excellent view of harbour from room balcony Spacious room with lovely enuite /superior king Attentive staff

Review 82:Everything was really great

Review 83:Perryville was one of the best places we stayed on our Ireland trip. We are fussy customers and are tough critics. Andrew and his staff did a great, great job! We liked it so much that we stayed an extra night. The Perryville House made it difficult to move on to the next stop on our trip. Well Done Andrew!

Review 84:Very friendly and polite service. The hotel was beautifully furnished and the common areas very comfortable and useable. The room was comfortable, spacious and clean with a nice bathroom. Breakfast was terrific with a selection home produced honey and jams and cooked breakfast excellent. There is no restaruant or bar, but neither is required as the bars and restaurants of Kinsale are just outside the front door.

Review 85:No tea or coffee facilities in the bedrooms.

Review 86:A family emergency arose, we had to cancel our second night stay. The owner Laura was so kind and understanding. We will be returning for our second night soon.

Review 87:We were on honeymoon here and it was exceptional. Andrew is particularly welcoming and would rate the whole experience (especially breakfast) at 100%.

Review 88:Excellent accommodation, choice of breakfast was fast with top quality food. Staff really helpfull even had a range of menus from local restaurants for you to look thru and they would book them for you. Highly recommend as a place to stay when visiting Kinsale

Review 89:We loved everything about our stay!

Review 90:We were greeted by Andrew who very kindly came out and helped us with our luggage. This set the scene for our stay in Kinsale! We found him to be an excellent host, providing us with many recommendations for activities and places to eat, as well as providing a warm and friendly welcome each time we returned to the guest house. We were very pleased with the breakfast, which offered a wide range of fresh, local and delicious produce. We would especially recommend the homemade honey and delicious granola!! We would definitely return to this special place! We were delighted with our spacious and comfortable room, which had a superb vista over Kinsale Harbour.

Review 91:Could not think of a thing Our favorite in the 11 days we were in Ireland!

Review 92:Friendly, welcoming proprietors and staff. Ideal location including parking. Best breakfast in Ireland in a beautiful setting

Review 93:Well, frankly I’m surprised at how glowing the praise is for this guest house on Booking.com. We found Perryville House to be overpriced and the woman who checked us in and out was neither friendly nor pleasant ... in fact she was really quite rude. It’s true that the house is lovely and the setting is great. Our rooms were nice, but nothing really exceptional and the lack of tea making facilities is surprising. When I asked about it I was told that ‘they may do that sort of thing in the UK, but we don’t in our guesthouses in Ireland’.We very much enjoyed the rest of our tour of Ireland in 4 star hotels booked through Booking.com and in every case the rooms were at least as good as those in the Perryville and in some cases they were better ... they ALL had tea making facilities and bottles of spring water, none of which were on offer at the Perryville.Furthermore, the aforementioned 4 star hotels were about HALF the price of the Perryville!I was actually looking for another 4 star hotel when I booked the Perryville on Booking.com, so I felt a little misled when it turned out to be a guest house with no lift, no restaurant, no bar, no room service and worst of all for a Brit., no tea making facilities! For some strange reason, they have carpeted large areas and all the rooms that we saw with very coarse coir matting, which is horrible to walk on, particularly barefoot in the rooms. As mentioned above, there is no lift in the building and there are a lot of stairs – two flights for some rooms. On the one night that we stayed, there was no hot water in the late evening and we noticed mould growing on the grouting in our bathroom. Another problem in the bathrooms is the liquid soap etc provided seems cheap and nasty. We had asked for a quiet room and were given a room at the side overlooking a small garden, which was nice, but our window was still only a few yards from a busy road, which although quiet for much of the night, was quite noisy really.

Review 94:Breakfast

Review 95:For a very expensive room there were no toiletries or bathroom accessories, only liquid soap and shampoo. Would have liked a kettle and tea making facilities in the room.

Review 96:The Location Lovely house and furnishings

Review 97:I registered for a room with twin beds. This was not available so we each had our own antique appointed suites. Wonderful surprise!!!!!!

Review 98:The room and the house was gorgeous

Review 99:Exceptional accommodation, brilliant service and very generous breakfast.

Review 100:Having to leave
