Reviews for Ballyroe Heights Hotel
Review 1:The room smelled of cigarettes even though it was non smoking, the door and widow were opened when we arrived. Obviously to clear the smell. The bed was old as were the brown covers and curtains.
Review 2:The staff were lovely and the food was good.
Review 3:Need bigger double beds and better showers but otherwise nothing !
Review 4:Very scenic location, even in the rain ! Beautiful views Food lovely had dinner and 2 breakfasts all delicious , meals very reasonable. Asked staff for an iron and ironing board , was delivered to room in minutes - very impressive. 140 for 2 nights for two people with breakfast, decent value for a bright clean hotel.
Review 5:heat in my room not good..telly reception poorish.....bad signs from reception to room..hard to read wrong colours.....plumbing needs to be checked out asap
Review 6:location..friendly reception..nice bar..good food..super dining area for breaky.....
Review 7:The breakfast in the morning was excellent but I have to say the bar food was very poor indeed. Three of the four of us did not enjoy our meal.
Review 8:Staff were terrific, the hotel is lovely, nicely decorated, bit musty in places but we didnt mind that, added to the charm.
Review 9:cheap orange juice and marmalade and hard pillows.
Review 10:I loved the local history information board that had photos of my father and grandfather Dave and Michael Fitzgerald. Staff were so friendly and helpful. Leisurely breakfast and terrific staff there.
Review 11:We thought the hotel was so nice & the staff were so welcoming, The food was 1st class & the waiter/waitress's couldn't have been nicer, Cant wait for our next visit,
Review 12:The staff were so friendly and helpful. The food was fantastic. The views are really beautiful. It's a little bit out of town but worth it for the service.
Review 13:Our dinner was cold when we received it. We sent it back but my husbands came out cold again, mine was fine but it was a different dish
Review 14:The room was warm and comfortable The bed was also very comfortable
Review 15:Nothing
Review 16:Excellent for the price, food was great and all staff welcoming and especially waitress with mousy brown hair in the restaurant on Sunday night she could not do enough for us
Review 17:The TV's in the bedrooms are small.
Review 18:Lovely rooms, well catered for, clean, warm and excellent location. Food in the restaurant is great, and the stay was excellent value overall.
Review 19:I thought the breakfast was a little bit expensive 16 euru. i think 10 euru is more that enough for full irish breakfast. apart from that everything was perfect.
Review 20:everything from staff to comfort , great affordable menu cleanliness , the temperture in the room was perfect, not too hot & not cold.
Review 21:I consider the entrance to your Hotel a death trap. I approached it twice at night and could not see where the entrance was. It is highly dangerous. I ended up while approaching from Tralee on the grass verge pass the entrance. An accident will happen.
Review 22:Staff were outstanding and food.
Review 23:Staff were very helpful, I had to leave before breakfast was going to be served and they offered to have a continental breakfast & coffee waiting for me when I got up at 6am!!
Review 24:Breakfast on both mornings seemed to be pre cooked... poached eggs first morning more like boiled eggs... scrambled eggs next morning were tasteless and on my table in under 1 minute from request... pre cooked
Review 25:The hotel is quite a way out of Tralee centre in its own grounds. Friendly welcome but room was not as requested as it was a triple room. It was also dark, dank and musty smelling. We changed rooms having been told there was a mistake but we got the same type of room but at least it wasn't musty. Room was dreary though with stained carpets and the bed uncomfortable and tipped towards the middle. In the end one of us slept in the double and the other in the single bed. Old fashioned sheets and blankets too!! TV screen was smaller than my laptop and the side windows were very dirty. In the bathroom the toiletries were minimal and the cold tap in the sink didn't work. A lot of noise during the night with people walking around shouting didn't help my sleep. The Palace was the only restaurant and it was full of coach parties hence the service was slow but the food was quite OK. Breakfast was very limited and they wouldn't do an omelet. The Irish was good though. I understand the hotel has won awards for its weddings but I don't think its hotel side would do so!!
Review 26:Having breakfast and leaving!!
Review 27:Beds were very hard and uncomfortable
Review 28:The breakfast man was very friendly and welcoming each morning and also at lunch and as were the wait staff of an evening
Review 29:Breakfast was very good, view from breakfast room was lovely , ate in the bar both nights and food was also very good. Had a family room and it was perfect for 2 adults and 2 children, the hotel was very clean, we all enjoyed our stay.
Review 30:I think that there could have been better signposting of the lift for the concert goers,,, it was upstairs and a high stairs at that,,, the lift was a bit out of the way,,,, I think for 400 or more patrons the hotel could have had additional staff on duty to assist people...Also I could not lock room 34 the lock was working but did not engage with the door properly,,,, I brought it to the attention of staff and Im sure its been fixed by now,,,
Review 31:I was there for one night only to see Christy Moore,,,, it was a wonderful concert,,,,, its been far too long since he played in Tralee,... I hope he returns soon,,,,, it was a great room for the concert....and the bedroom was nice and quiet,,,,staff were all very pleasant,,from reception right through,, bar staff coped well with the crowds,,breakfast was good and fresh...great views from the hotel. I would recommend it.
Review 32:Breakfast was disappointing, did enjoy the brown bread.
Review 33:Family wedding, staff very friendly and looked after everybody in wedding party. Superb location, ballroom = stunning.
Review 34:The room was dark and basic. Sausages at breakfast were sour. May have been a once off but :( No menus at breakfast but someone came to take our order? Very limited breakfast buffet.
Review 35:The location and public areas of the hotel were lovely. Beautiful views while having breakfast. There was a wedding the same night but you couldn't hear music in the rooms.
Review 36:no complaints..we have been to two family weddings in the past year at your hotel and both were excellent
Review 37:The staff were so friendly and genuine concerned that we had a nice stay
Review 38:I hate when hotels don't have irons in your room plus room had a smell of smoke in it tv on the wall was the size of a small picture frame the bed was like something you would sleep on in prison
Review 39:The location was great and bar was nice.
Review 40:Found it difficult to find as was my first visit to Tralee. Maybe a few signposts along the way wouldnt go amiss!!
Review 41:Extremely polite and helpful staff Spacious rooms very comfy bed. Spotlessly clean
Review 42:No bad experience.
Review 43:Well run hotel with good, friendly staff. They had 3 weddings over two days and managed to keep wedding guests and other clients apart and happy.
Review 44:poor signage to room and from room to reception.....got breaky in room..no sugar provided..no real butter....kerrygold watch out??more staff training required
Review 45:bar food excellent.....room very clean....bathroom very nice.. reception excellent.........
Review 46:The entrance from the road could be a bit bigger very narrow
Review 47:The staff were very nice an the bar food was excellent the views were amazing would diffo go back again very clean hotel
Review 48:The staff could not do enough Front Line exceptional and very professional. Evening Meal 1st class with an excellent Head Water - who had exceptional local knowledge Will return when I next visit Tralee
Review 49:Breakfast choice was poor. Tinned fruit only available as they ran out of fresh fruit and pastries. Should be able to cater for all guests. Coffee was poor quality.
Review 50:Reception staff were very friendly and helpful
Review 51:Nothing bad to say.
Review 52:It's the staff in this hotel that make this such a lovely place to stay; without exception, everyone was helpful, friendly and welcoming. The hotel is located a short drive from Tralee, and oh: The views! We sat in the breakfast room and drank in the fabulous views across to Dingle Peninsula. My daughter and I had room service supper, which was promptly delivered, and very nice indeed: very generous portions. Definitely a hotel to return to!
Review 53:The staff were really friendly. Kerry' gave us great directions with drawn maps to help. The view from the hotel is fantastic and good value for money,
Review 54:No hot water for shower and when explained to staff we got one apology but thought they could have reduced the price slightly due to this issue, but they didn't
Review 55:Location, atmosphere and balcony were all amazing
Review 56:The hotel was lovely. The staff were wonderful and even arranged lactose free milk for my partner. There was a problem with our tv originally but they quickly sorted it. We were a little cold so the wonderful Nicola at reception arranged a portable heater. Overall it was a wonderful but quick stay and I will gladly recommend it to family and friends.
Review 57:being woken at 3.30 in the morning by another guest trying to get into his room (continous knocking and banging to wake his room mate) i had get up and ask him to go to the night porter, this is not your fault, but it would be nice to inform guests what to do if they get locked out of their room..
Review 58:staff were very helpfull and professional
Review 59:The only tiny problem for me is that it was a little cold in the room and there was only a sheet and blanket so I woke twice in the night cold
Review 60:Rooms were clean, comfy, nice decor. The staff however were amazing. Nothing is a problem. We ordered room service which was prompt and the food was great value, no extra charge for the service. My partner loved his pillow so much he asked if he could buy one and it was ready for him at checkout. The breakfast was fabulous and plentiful and we had a great nights sleep.
Review 61:I felt the reception area could do with a little more invitation. The bar lacked atmosphere.
Review 62:The staff were so inviting and courteous. The breakfast room was relaxing with beautiful sunshine coming through the room.
Review 63:No comment
Review 64:We arrived in the pouring rain but we still noticed the beautiful setting. The reception areas are warm, spacious and fashionable. Lots of huge, comfy sofas. The breakfast room is stunning, with spectacular views!!! Breakfast was waiter served and delicious with a great choice. We would definitely stay there again.
Review 65:There was nothing.
Review 66:The friendliness of staff on arrival. The size and cleanliness of room. Very quiet. Food excellent. Plenty of options for coeliacs
Review 67:The location was ok but the big downside side of this hotel is there is no leisure facilities if staying for a few days which we did and would have been nice to have a swimming pool, sauna, Jacuzzi and possibly a beauty room for massages and that.
Review 68:The place was spacious, clean and the food excellent. The staff were very friendly in fact and made eye contact with you and were very welcoming and always with a smile.
Review 69:Beautiful, spacious, breakfast first class - you won't be disappointed. I never write reviews but was compelled to do so for this hotel . One negative - towels too small for me personally Thank you Ballyroe
Review 70:Being put in a room as far away from reception/bar/restaurant as possible despite hotel being quiet mid-week.
Review 71:Excellent free Wi-Fi. Great food. Friendly Service. Comfortable and clean room.
Review 72:No mobile phone signal in my room, wifi was extremely slow and unreliable. No iron or ironing board. Could hear everything outside my room.
Review 73:Parking and close to Tralee, easy to find.
Review 74:Eileen looked after our daughter and I have to say, she was fantastic, very nice, very friendly and we trusted her instantly. When your travelling for a wedding with a baby, its a wonderful feeling to be able to relax and know the baby was safe and sound. I would recommend Eileen to other parents staying in the hotel.
Review 75:Everything,The staff overall were brilliant they were ready and willing to help you in any possible ,we didn't have any problems,The food was excellent, rooms were were very nice ,location perfect for the Listowel races. We will be back again next year pg,
Review 76:Put us in room 28. We may have well put our bed in reception. They should not put anyone in this room. Girl at reception was apologetic and brought it to the attention of management who where less than helpful and couldn't have cared less. Said that there was nothing they could do as there was a wedding on and the hotel was booked full and the room had just become available. Also the noise from the wedding was ridiculous until after 2am in the morning. Nice hotel and location but but service and standards leave something to be desired.
Review 77:Location
Review 78:Such a relaxing atmosphere in the hotel. Staff were very friendly, and nothing seemed to be a problem! Loved being able to bring my morning coffee out from the restaurant to the balcony and soak in the sunshine and views! Even though we only stayed 1 night, I left feeling very relaxed!
Review 79:Excellent hotel with helpful and interesting staff. A fantastic base for trips to Dingle peninsula, Kilkenny Natl. park and the coast, and v well situated if you want to play golf. Good breakfast, quiet comfortable and roomy rooms, and good bar. Really enjoyed my stay.
Review 80:had to wait a little too long for bar food order to be taken.
Review 81:food on bar menu tasty, good portion size & very good value, breakfast, bedroom, bathroom, countryside & distant sea views
Review 82:Two pairs of dirty pyjamas were left hanging on bathroom door by previous room occupant and there was stain on carpet beside bed (looked like vomit). Room had obviously not been cleaned properly. When reported to hotel receptionist, pyjamas were removed but stain remained. Also slight fusty smell in room. Hotel a bit difficult to find - could do with being signposted from Tralee. For this reason I would not recommend it to anyone else.
Review 83:Amazing views from hotel. Staff very friendly, especially restaurant staff. Restaurant good choice on menu and not overly priced. Would recommend hotel for this reason.
Review 84:The staff were very polite and couldnt do enough for us. The room and view was fab we were very pleased indeed to have chosen this hotel. It is situated two miles outside tralee nice and peaceful and the view of the mountaibs was spectacular.
Review 85:Bed was a bit small!
Review 86:Have to compliment the staff in both the bar & breakfast room for the professional way they handled the guests. Our waitress for dinner while run off her feet, was friendly & efficient. The staff serving breakfast had a very ignorant family to deal with. So impressed was I by how they handled them I went back to the restaurant to compliment them before we left. We really enjoyed our stay, will highly recommend it to others & we will be back. :-)
