Reviews for Ocean Lodge B&B
Review 1:Bed comfort only average - could be better No TV in the room Location very remote albeit with a fab view. Need car to go anywhere from the B&B.
Review 2:Quiet very good breakfast Good shower Very clean Free wifi Decent value for money
Review 3:Limited contact with host or hostess, so no local information. Midges! Bed not comportable.
Review 4:Beautiful location. Relaxing places to sit, outdoors and indoors. Excellent access to places of interest. Tea and coffee available.
Review 5:Although it was ideal for seeing Connemara the location was a little far from stores by foot but I would stay here again.
Review 6:Great cooked breakfast and nice view from the room. Left to our own devices upon arrival which was very relaxing.
Review 7:We were greeted by the owner, monica at the door. She wasn't particularly friendly, didn't even say hello, just asked our names and told us our room numbers. I had to ask her for her name. We were a bit miffed by the fact she didn't give us any information about what to do in the area. Most places we'd been the owners were very friendly and helpful when it came to this and we found her to be very unapproachable. It didn't ruin our stay at all but it might be worth noting. Bathrooms were a little bit cold at times but that was likely to do with the weather we got.
Review 8:Location of the b&b is fantastic, really close to the abbey and the national park, close to Letterfrack where there were more options for eating in the evening. Breakfast in the B&B was sensational, had the fry up one morning and the pancakes the other, good strong coffee and tea, little buffet with homemade breads etc. It was really lovely and the staff were very nice in the morning. Rooms were very comfortable and spotless, beds were nice and duvets were lovely and warm, there was lots of wardrobe storage if you needed to unpack. Nice view out to sea. Showers were fantastic, really hot and powerful, it was lovely.
Review 9:First B&B where pancake was offered for breakfast, i just wish there was more, really nice with maple syrup. Also scrambled egg offered with smoked salmon. Altogether great selection of everything for breakfast with a nice view in a lovely breakfast room. Room and bathroom perfectly fine and comfortable. Sea is just few minutes walk down the road.
Review 10:Friendliness upon arrival, lovely (Irish and continental) breakfast, tea/coffee and snacks provided. Beautiful view of the bay area from the room and the breakfast table.
Review 11:The views are gorgeous, such a beautiful place. The bnb itself is very nice, the room was beautiful with a sea view with a very comfy big bed. The owners were very friendly and welcoming. Will definitely go back. 5*
Review 12:Excellent large and warm room with part of a sea view and a much better one from the breakfast table. Welcoming and helpful host, great breakfast - very quiet location but only minutes drive from local village - try out Paddy Coynes for great food.
Review 13:Our hosts went out of their way to accomodate us including a welcoming fireplace to relax at upon arrival by bus after collecting us in Letterfrack. They ensured that our Christmas in Connemara was truly exceptional! A beautiful place in a stunning pocket of Ireland! (Best to go to by rental car though..)
Review 14:Lovely home with plush, clean room, roaring fire in the lounge at night Host very friendly but not intrusive & happily complied with a special request. Quaint true Irish pubs just down the road (with wifi) & a burger bar if you want take-away. Brilliant breakfast - 3 cooked options PLUS range of continental & brewed coffee. Beyond value for money & amazing scenery on the doorstep!
Review 15:No tidying up between days Fresh towels not offered Very poor and confusing directions...impossible at night
Review 16:Sitting rooms Excellent breakfasts...top chef Friendliness Privacy of location Trail to rocky beach Fresh fruit left with tea selection
Review 17:The BnB is wonderful, and Jack and Monica are super hosts. Breakfast was great, beds are comfy, rooms are clean and bright; we had a super time. The BnB is brilliantly located as it is very close to a range of stunning beaches, namely Glassilaun. The only thing that I would say is that you need to know where the place is exactly. So just so that you don't get lost - it is a 90 degree right hand turn from the Tullycross signpost (if you are travelling from Letterfrack). So you travel downhill along this little road for about 200m and then turn left (which is signposted for the BnB) and then it is down on the right hand side after a row of houses on the left. So get Jack's number or the directions before you leave! But you can always pop into Maol Reigh hotel in Tully for directions because they all know each other.
Review 18:- Access is through a narrow (but signposted) entrance road down the hills so better to arrive before it is pitch black. - Wifi could be a plus but if you seek quiet, then it is ideal...
Review 19:- Relaxed atmosphere; homy feeling; very good hot breakfast cooked from scratch with great selection (not just scrambled egge on toast!). - Owner friendly and welcoming. - Great views; within walking distance from the ocean view (just walk down the road to see it!); could be a starting point to visit cliffs/beaches/viewpoints in Renvyle. - Few pubs/restaurants nearby (less than 1 km), though car is needed. - Clean; comfy bed; warm.
