Reviews for Villa Olympia
Review 1:The small first room we were shown reeked of strongly lemon-scented cleaning solution, as was the next larger room which we rented. Two of us noticed many small bugs on the wall near their bed before going to bed, but did not recognize them as bedbugs and went quickly to sleep as we were tired. The next day they awoke to find spots of blood (which they later realized was their own) on the sheets, along with many dead bugs. Later that next day after leaving Santorini, the first of us had more than 100 bedbug bites appear all over their body (large, very itchy welts). Later the second one of us also had multiple bites appear, followed a few days later by the third of us. (Bedbug bites sometimes take days to appear) Having never had bedbug bites, we were all surprised to learn how uncomfortable they are. And we then had to take steps to ensure that no live bugs were now transported by us in our clothes and luggage to our next destinations! We washed not only our clothes but all luggage, and now have spent 50€ on bug bite creams to curb the itching. We made several attempts to contact the hotel afterwards including email and phone calls (listed on their webpage and Booking.com), with no response. Our goal was to ensure that they treated the room(s), so that other travelers would not be affected. But since they would not respond to our communications, we are posting reviews such as this one in hopes they address the situation adequately. I would encourage any future visitors to this hotel to get assurances that (1) yes, they did have bedbugs in October 2015, and (2) what they did to eliminate them. Stayed October 2015
Review 2:The hotel was "ok" in various aspects, had a friendly front desk person, and a nice breakfast bar.
Review 3:its a really nice villa location not that great as you definitely need a car, really clean, rooms not that amazing but decent, Wifi really strong, breakfast was ok, pool area is nice, and we had a problem on our arrival as there was no one in the reception cause it was like 6.30 am and the driver who picked us up from the airport told me that i had to wait in the reception till 9 am so i was there waiting than the woman came and told me that i had to wait till 1 pm to get the room and i wasnt really happy about it than after 15 minutes more waiting she came and told me i could get one but apart from that everything was fine
Review 4:Shower handle not fixed to the wall and small shower space. Not enough kitchen ware and bed was concrete underneath. I hurt my feet several times. Also the TV was a 1950 model in fact we did not use it at all. On the internet a balcony was mentioned. No balcony with sea views was given as advertised on the net. Poor breakfast.
Review 5:Pool and breakfast area were nice. Quite place..
Review 6:The wifi was not the best, especially in out room (which was the one most far from the reception).
Review 7:We really got a good service from Ritza and her family. They were always very nice, polite and eager to help. The breakfast was good and our "little house"/room was a good size for three siblings.
Review 8:A warm welcome at both the airport and Hotel. Nothing was too much trouble and very helpful with any queries. Couldn't do enough. All areas clean and the pool facilities were very good. Thank you, Ritsa, I shall be back.
Review 9:Breakfast terrible - orange cordial not juice and coffee plastic. Based on this did not eat in 'restaurant' as pizzas looked like cheap supermarket bought; room nothing like website photos - in need of update; no aircon in childrens room and had to request fan. No proper curtains so room full of day light at 6am.
Review 10:Not a lot
Review 11:Rooms were out dated and basic. Wifi connection was terrible. Food at hotel was not worth it.
Review 12:The room was clean & reception woman was friendly. They offered free pick up from airport which was very helpful.
Review 13:Pictures show you only best room, instead, we had a smaller one.
Review 14:It's a peaceful place near the beach. Very good breakfast and food. They change towels and clean room every day. Staff, especially Ritsa, is very kind and make you feel at home! Free transport from the airport if you stay two nights or more.
Review 15:Rita and her family couldn't do enough to help us, they were very friendly and went over and above themselves. 18 of us were their for a wedding, and they couldn't do enough for us, or the rest of the wedding party who were staying elsewhere. On the day of wedding Rita and her father transported us all to the wedding venue, and wouldn't take any money
Review 16:Only negative was the beds were uncomfortable.
Review 17:We stayed at villa olympia from the 18th- 25th August 2015 staff couldn't do enough for us and really went out of their way, picked us up from the airport and dropped us back. Hotel was spotless. Food and drink very reasonable. Overall we had a wonderful stay at villa olympia.
Review 18:Excellent value for money, rooms basic but very clean and they were cleaned/new towels every day. Rita and her staff can't do enough for you. Lovely pool area and food from the bar is delicious and reasonably priced. Would definitely recommend this hotel.
Review 19:Whilst Ritsa and her family are lovely and can't do enough for you this is a budget hotel. Decor is outdated and the pictures were better than the rooms we were allocated. We had two rooms, one with kitchen but both were basic especially the tiny bathroom, with stand and hold over yourself shower. Which would be fine if it was more updated. Breakfast had a wide range to offer, however the quality was really poor and without flavour. Everything is a bit tired but the salvation is the breakfast and bar area and pool which are lovely. It is a budget hotel with great location, very friendly staff, lovely pool and good value for money but basic rooms.
Review 20:Location is great and quiet, with a good walk to the hussle and bustle of the beach front, which was excellent by the way! friendly owners, exceptionally clean facilities and felt very safe. Nice pool.
Review 21:Staff were absolutely amazing and so helpful with where to go, who to hire bikes with and what shops were cheaper to shop at ect and also with airport/ferry transfers! It's not near the main town but is an easy & cheap bus ride in (bus stop is about a 4 minute walk down the road).
Review 22:We aren't so picky tourists so we found the stay really nice! But for the price asked those things should not have been encountered! Shower drainage was sunk and the water drained in the room and on the hallway. Another tourist knocked on our door to see what happened. We saw a big puddle of water outside the room. There aren't windows just a glass door which goes to the garden. If you leave the door open cats come inside. Transfer when leaving to the port/airport is 20 Euros. We took the bus from Carrefour.
Review 23:Free transfer when arriving Friendly staff Breakfast was good except the honey which tasted like soap. The pool and jacuzzy was very nice, too bad we didn't have too much time to spend inside. Close to the beach. Nice garden Biggest plus: When leaving we could leave the luggage in the lobby until late at midnight. Could even take a shower if wanted. There is a common shower.
Review 24:I felt the bar prices at the hotel were expensive when you could walk down the road and buy a beer double the size for a 1/3 of the price
Review 25:The staff at the hotel were really friendly and always helpful with booking trips and directions.
Review 26:The air conditioning system was unstable, the bathroom was small and the shower wasn't good at all.
Review 27:The staff was very helpful and the breakfast was good.
Review 28:We spent a very Nice stay ta villa Olympia. From The first the last moment. My girlfriend lost her luggage at the airport and Ritsa and her family helped her to deal with this problem. All the staff was Nice, everybody gave us a lot of infomation about the island (best cruises to do, beaches, transports) even suggesting where it could be less expensive or the place to avoid. The hôtel is beautiful, very good deal money-service. We would suggest this hotel to our friends and if we go back to Santorin we will absolutely go there.:)
Review 29:The wifi didnt work inside of the Room. The manager recommended us a rental company called " moto empíre". The price was diferent to the one the manager told us at the hotel. The quad we rented was extremely slow, we decided to change to a bike, which was suppoused to be 125cc but it wasnt. It was slow, old and broke down at 23:00... We had to wait one hour till sb came for us and gave us another old bike with the seat and speedmeter broken.. 100 meters away of the hotel there is another rental company, if you dont want to risk with empíre this might be a better option.
Review 30:The swimming polo was the best.
Review 31:nothing bad about the property. Breakfast may be more elaborated.
Review 32:If you want to stay east side of the Island this property is best to stay. Around 5 min walk to perivolos beach. Supermarket and bus stand is less than 1 min walk. You can get a car rental from the shop adjacent to supermarket. Its a family run business. Property is located at very peaceful location, beautifully maintained and near to beautiful black sand beach. Special thanks to Ritsa for giving all attentions, helping in our tour and for providing all information about the island. I will definitely stay here if visited again.
Review 33:There were flies everywhere, all over the food at the continental breakfast, in our room landing on us every ten seconds. The location was also not ideal for us, stay in Oia or Thira unless you only want to visit the beach. The interior of our room was awful although in all fairness we choose the budget room option. Also, the wifi was pretty useless.
Review 34:The staff were great and the setting of the hotel was beautiful.
Review 35:We had to switch rooms as half our party left and the second room smelled like smoke and the beds were not comfy. If you are staying here get a room that is not connected to the main lobby. Those rooms are much better and bigger bathrooms.
Review 36:The staff was very friendly and the location was right near the beach. The hotel provided wifi and breakfast and their was a pool to lounge at.
Review 37:The hotel is pretty old and run down, our apartment had a really bad smell, it smelt like mould or a water damage/drainage issue.
Review 38:Good location, the hotel is only 7 or 800 metres away from the beach with some great restaurants and taverns and Perisa is only 1.5KM's away. The pool area was nice and the little bar was good.
Review 39:There was nothing I didn't like to be honest. Really enjoyed the Villa and the Island.
Review 40:I liked the pick up from the airport, the Wi-Fi, The friendly staff and the facilities. The staff are great here, very helpful and accommodating. It was a very relaxed place with nice rooms and pool area. This is a 7 minute walk to the beach, then there is about a mile of great restaurants/bars and lovely beach areas. Great atmosphere at the beach here. Easy bus and boat tours of the rest of the island and surrounding islands that can be arranged for you by the staff. I liked everything about this hotel and Santorini! We booked about 3 or 4 months before we went, the price for 3 nights was was approx €130. They also brought us to the port for our next destination very early in the morning for €15. The whole stay was great and great value for money.
Review 41:The dinner menu not entirely clear on what was available, but food was great.
Review 42:Clean tidy room, great gardens, excellent pool and facilities. Well located for beach, and easy transport across the island.
Review 43:The shower in our room was a problem as it flooded the room everytime we showered. We did mention it to the hotel management and they understood the problem and said they would be changing it.
Review 44:It. was great for a basic stay. As we were out all day we appreciated coming back to shower and change. Sheets and towels were provided clean everyday and breakfast was always fresh and plentiful
Review 45:Lovely pool area and clean towels and bedding daily. Ritsa, Olivia and their family are lovely and very helpful. The hotel location is great, it's only a short walk to the beach/restaurants/bars.
Review 46:WiFi signal not stable (so, no issues if you are on vacation)...breakfast was good but boring (the same offer day by day though food was a good quality)
Review 47:Employees were very friendly and helpfull. Super clean. Towels have been changed every day and the room was cleaned daily
Review 48:We went there me & my husband on his 40th birthday . Ritsa and herfamily welcomed us as best she could. Wonderful hotel beautiful poolarea , best Mochito ! Excursion organized by the hotel 100 %satisfaction . Wonderful place and lovely people . Thank You Very Much
Review 49:The wifi didn't work in the room, but that was fine as there is plenty of space to use it in the bar and breakfast area.
Review 50:This is a lovely family run hotel in the quieter area near Perissa beach. The staff are wonderful, especially Ritza she suggested and organised a great value tour for us to do one day of the island and surrounds to the volcano crater and hot springs, Oia and other places. The breakfast is nice and the pool is nice as well. I can highly recommend this place for the budget traveller.
Review 51:I had a couple of difficulties with hot water and the wifi but both were quickly sorted by the staff.
Review 52:The service was excellent and so was the breakfast. Perivolos was a lovely, peaceful location just 45 mins from Fira.
Review 53:The room was not clean. There was trash from the previous guest under the bed. The hot water was not hot enough. The canalisation of the jacuzzi was appearing (not romantic at all). The decoration of the room was different from that one on booking: I would prefer the previous one.
Review 54:Good breakfast with the exception of the orange juice. Transfer from and to the port was great. Staff is available and sympathetic. Very near from the beach and restaurants.
Review 55:We stay in thi hotel and everything it was amazing!!!Familly is very friendly the young familly boy pick up us from the port and drive us back at the end of our holidays for free.the last day we had late check out and they show us a shower room to change and they gave us a fresh towels to take a shower.Breakfast buffet is very tasty with many choices.Roos clean every day with fresh towels and sheets, room is very clean with nice view to the amazing big garden.Hotel is very beautiful close to the beach restaurant shops and bus station, bus is running every 20 min.is very eazy to use busses to see the island.I recimended 100%.Thank you Villa Olympia
Review 56:The hot water was not warm enough for the bath.
Review 57:The staff is extremely helpful. They made our transfer to the hotel free of change, they managed the car rental and everything we needed. The beach is very near to the hotel (5 min walking) with different options of restaurants offering fresh sea fruits etc.
Review 58:During my trip in Santorini I stayed in Villa Olympia. I could only say this accommodation is just perfect for me. If I have the chance to visit Santorini again I will revisit the hotel or I will recommend this hotel to my friends or family if they are going to Santorini!!
Review 59:Great people! Really enjoyed staying there, the place was really good, very confortable with all comodities and all the owners were amazing! breakfast was very complete too. Definitely to go back!
Review 60:"Hot tub" on balcony is a corner bath!
Review 61:Close to both Perivolos & Perissa beach Pleasant staff Basic but good meals Return airport transportation Efficient maid service
Review 62:Was an easy walk to the beach, anyone who says its too far is just lazy. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The beach out front is the best on the island
Review 63:Not so good wi-fi
Review 64:We celebrated our wedding in Santorini. All of our friends, my husband and me were accommodated in Villa Olympia. Everything was great. It takes around 10 minutes to get to the sea. On the beach you can find a lot of restaurants and bars. But you can find tasty snacks and drinks in hotel's bar. Hotel staff is very friendly. Thanks a lot Ritsa for all your help! You made our vacation!
Review 65:Room leaves something to be desired.
Review 66:A very helpful option is transfer from and to ferry station/airport, free of charge! Friendly staff. Very good breakfast.
Review 67:This is a lovely family run hotel very near to the beautiful beaches of Perissa. Ritssa and her family were ever so nice and helpful with information, renting cars and excursions to do. The room was nice and very quiet, the hotel very pretty and the food very fresh and cheap drinks at the pool bar :) lovely holidays

Review 70:-They transfered us to port(15euro for person) -receptionist lady washelpful and friendly.. -Swimming pool location was nice to sit andrestin the darkness of night..
Review 71:The Wi-Fi was not always 100% reliable - but all in all it worked most of the times - best place to use the Wi-Fi was around the bar area. However holidays should be holidays without internet anyway ;)
Review 72:The hotel is run by a lovely family that showed me that working together and with joined forces makes everything better. They were all together so lovely and helpful my entire stay through! All of the staff cared about the facilities and especially about us guests and that really makes a big difference to any holiday! I felt amazing my whole stay. The pool and bar area is lovely and invites you to spend time there!
Review 73:Leaving

Review 78:Great hotel, great location. We visited all parts of the island and we wouldn't stay anywhere else, but Perivolos. In Villa Olympia the staff is super friendly and very helpful. Satisfied. Hopefully we'll come back again.
Review 79:The room was not what we had booked. After we complained, we were moved in another one, which was better. The hotel needs to be restored. Breakfast was poor in terms of quality.
Review 80:Very helpfull and kind personnel. Nice garden. Has a private parking place.
Review 81:Bathroom gloomy, because of the way the Hotel had been constructed ! (lack of sunlight & ventilation)
Review 82:Bit far from the Beach, as you can gather from previous reviews, but for Value can't be beaten during Holiday season, as there are only very few other alternatives available nearby. It is is quite obvious that the Hotel had seen better days. Good varied Buffet Breakfast is included which was wholesome.
Review 83:Ten minute walk to beach, friendly family staff who speak good English. Great pool and bar. AC worked well. Nice shower room if you leave late in day.
Review 84:price too high for offered standard, very poor and small bathrooms, poor aircondition, far away from beach and other attractions
Review 85:pool, nice and helpfull staff,
Review 86:This was such a perfect family run hotel, Ritsa and her family were so lovely. It's a perfect location off the main strip but 5 min from restaurants and beach. They picked us up the port and dropped us off at the airport. I will definitely be going back. A perfect mini break. Would highly recommend :)
Review 87:The staff were excellent, friendly and very accommodating. The hotel is only 10 minutes walk from the beach so it means you don't have to be surrounded by the crowds. This is an absolute bargain and I would highly recommend!
Review 88:Basically everything. When we saw the pictures on this website, we were very excited about coming to the hotel. Though the pictures are indeed taken at the hotel, it does not represent the quality of the hotel at all. Let's start with the room: it smells awful. There is mould on the walls and the light in the room is bright white like in a cheap night shop. The sheets were stained. They did replace them on request, however the next day we got new sheets with stains aswell. The bathroom was the worst of all. The smell was even worse than in the room itself. There were flies in the shower and red stains on the tile floor. After taking a shower, the water poured through the wall on the floor in the room. This hotel should have been closed ten years ago, or at least thouroughly refurbished. The swimming pool area looks quite allright, though the beds are scruffy and the (leather!) furniture has not survived the elements of multiple greek seasons. We don't understand how so many people can give this hotel such a high rating. Unfortunately we were happy to leave.
Review 89:You could flush the toiletpaper. The pictures on the website. From the outside seems pretty nice.
Review 90:No water in the morning and some nights Wifi was terrible - couldn't get it in our room Location quite poor, at least ten minute walk to the beach - photos are deceiving
Review 91:The pool area and the pool itself Transfer from the port to the hotel
Review 92:Very bare and barren area of Santorinia but if we had stayed longer we would have ventured further afield
Review 93:the pool and bar area and easy access to tavernas. Room comfortable with good sized balcony with seaviews in distance.
Review 94:The villa is a very short walk to the beach restaurants and bus stop. Ritsa and her family were very warm and friendly. They work hard and do a good job of keeping the villa clean and tidy. My sister and I really enjoyed staying there and only wish our stay could have been longer
Review 95:Villa Olympia's staff were very accommodating and I love that they do transfers to and from the port/airport. We didn't do any planning before our arrival but Ritsa gave us many options and made calls on our behalf. Thanks for a wonderful stay!
Review 96:All in all quite basic, breakfast was poor, noisy - you hear everything from around, voices, slamming doors, water pipes etc. included; walls and interior need a bit of refreshment.
Review 97:Spacious room, clean, big bathroom, hot water morning and night, good towels. Good choice for young budget travellers, Perissa + Perivolos with numerous beach clubs are near. Very friendly & helpful receptionist Ritsa.
Review 98:The wifi was poor but it is not only in the resort...
Review 99:The resort is beutiful! The staff was great! The location is perfect! We was very seticfy about everything! Thank you for all!
Review 100:The shower was very cold and never really got warm no matter how long you ran the water.
Review 101:The cost of the room was good value. We appreciated the ride to and from the airport. The food at the hotel is good and of good value. Breakfast was hearty and tasty. The pool is a nice size and it is close enough to the beach but not too close to be in the business of Perissa beach. The owners work very hard to make sure that you are taken care of and enjoy your stay.
Review 102:Everything from the drive to the Villa Olympia to meeting the fantastic Rita at the pool was amazing the family is very kind, helpful and go out of their way for you! Rooms were awesome with air con, tv, comfortable beds and shower room. The pool is the perfect size for the whole villa and the food is brilliant and very quality for the price.
Review 103:Room and furnitures old and outdated, scruffy bed with awful matterss, breakast poor and not particularly cared for. Shabbiness dominates this Villa, which should be refurbished from scratch.
Review 104:Perivolos beach and restaurants within walking distance. Room air conditiong and fridge working. Nice pool.
Review 105:Teeny tiny shower. And the group of young people staying were too loud, but the family asked them to be quiet, then they were.
Review 106:Ritsa at the front desk was amazing. Pool was lovely, airconditioning was a life saver, food was good, location was quiet and breakfast was really enjoyable.
Review 107:Nothing
Review 108:The staff are fantastic very friendly and willing to help you with whatever we needed - bigger room, order in quad bikes and where to eat. They even drove us to the port free of charge
Review 109:Showers are a little primitive by North Americcan standards but super clean and well stocked:
Review 110:I loved the locatio, away from the tourist traps but close to the beach.
Review 111:The only surprise was the distance of the beach. It was 700m, not 250m. It was not a problem to us, but maybe someone with little children.
Review 112:The staff was amazing and superfriendly, so helpful in every case. Ritsa helps you by arranging your vacation from car hire to shiptour. The place was also very clean. The breakfast was very good, I have got my own omelette because of my allergy.
Review 113:Everything was amazing at villa olympia. The houses are owned by afamily that all work at the hotel.Anything you need taken care of they can arrange. We felt like family .We had late flight and they picked us up from the airport, the last night we do late.Check out for free and the deliver us back to the port, very help ful rooms are guite confortable, clean as a whistle, excellent AC. Good wi-fi.Breakfast buffet full of choice with home made marmalade from olympia[ owner]is the best cook chef. The location couldn't have been any better relax hotel with big gafden and a lot of palm trees. We has a beautiful holidays.thank you.G
Review 114:It was a nightmare! The worst "hotel" ever. Impossible to sleep! So noisy all nights we can hear everything from any room. The bed was awful, the bathroom disgusting, the staff barely speaks english and doesn't care about anything, not even saying hello. The breakfast was uneatable. We cancel all the rest of our nights there and left.
Review 115:They accepted we cancel our reservation, because they realise their hotel was so awful...
Review 116:The breakfast was awesome, the pool clean, wifi was good everywhere. When we had a problem the staff acted immediately to fix. Location was fantastic. About 500 mtrs from the best beach in Santorini. Just far enough away so that the hum of party goers doesn't disturb you all night. Supermarket close by.
Review 117:Nothing except Wifi signal.
Review 118:Really helpful staff!! Free pick from airport and port, even offer to drive us to the bus station!!! Many excellent advice and warm smile, we really enjoyed staying there. Breakfast were sooooooooo delicious!
Review 119:None
Review 120:the owners are very friendly to us! I lost my charger in the hotel when I have already arrived at airport. The owner drives the car to send it to me before the flight taking off. Very nice!
Review 121:The wifi in room does not works well. Connection poor. Bathroom sink water can't go down. The shower place also will leak out water and bathroom become super wet.
Review 122:Location close to the longest beach in Santorini. But if you want to go to city(fira or Oia), it takes time.
Review 123:Lovely staff, relaxed atmosphere and really good wifi.
The Fine Print
