Reviews for Imperial Hotel
Review 1:The car park is very handy but it could do with a little fix. The drop at the entrance caused my car to clunk off the ground. May have damaged the oil sump! A small fix is all that's needed to soften the sloped entrance.
Review 2:The staff were very helpful and friendly. Location is central.
Review 3:TV reception is very poor. Pillows are pancakes. Water (hot and cold) in the morning took about 4-5 minutes to come to the third floorin the shower.
Review 4:Right in the center of town. Very clean with an old world charm.
Review 5:It was far too hot in the rooms, I'd have liked to be able to control the heat in my room myself.
Review 6:The hotel was charming from the front door,to the bar, into the dining room , and the rooms too.
Review 7:The staff were so polite and very accommodating always helped if necessary very reliable very honest the rooms were fabulous very well kept very comfortable I most definitely will be returning in the near future
Review 8:the only negative thing we have to say about all the place we stay, is the rooms are to hot at night. some place we can turn the heating down and some we can't.
Review 9:Cannot think of anything to fault
Review 10:we could not fault this hotel in any way. The staff were amazing, nothing was too much trouble for them. Would reccomend it to anyone.
Review 11:On my first visit, I stayed in a room overlooking the street on the first floor. Lovely spacious room, noise from the street was minimal and wasn't an issue for me.However on this visit, we booked directly with the hotel over the phone and were assigned a room on the 3rd floor. That night as we went to sleep, we were awoken to what we thought was an alarm ringing so I rang reception to ask if we needed to vacate, she said it was just the pipes and would stop shortly - I asked if that would happen again as we both had a long day of driving ahead of us and didn't wish to be woken from our sleep again, I was assured that it wouldn't happen again. They rang for a few minutes more (this was so loud it genuinely sounded like an alarm) and then stopped but I was already awake and could not get back to sleep, my mum fell asleep after 1am, I was still awake at 4am.We were then awoken at 645 to the same long loud ringing noise. 645am isn't super early but when you are on a break away, it's expected you would get to have a lie in.I am sorry to have to write this review as I had a truly wonderful experience on the first visit but I don't believe the room we stayed in on the 3rd floor is up to standard for paying guests. There was more than the noise issue from the pipes that frustrated me in this room but I could forgive those things, however the sleepless night was my biggest irk - you cannot expect guests to listen to that loud ringing at any time of the day and especially late at night and early in the morning. I understand it's an old hotel and you can't do anything about the pipes but don't open that room to guests.I did make a complaint the next morning (I have never once felt strongly enough to complain but I felt cheated on this visit) and the (apologetic) receptionist assured me she'd let the manager know. While I was driving home that evening, I did have a missed call from the hotel.
Review 12:The employees of this hotel are very first class. I found them to be very welcoming, friendly, approachable and professional. I had stayed a week previous and enjoyed the visit so much because of the wonderful staff, that I returned with my mum.
Review 13:Street outside front of Hotel was noisy late at night on weekends
Review 14:Secure parking is available to rear of Hotel , staff very helpful at this family run Hotel
Review 15:everything is really basic so if your preference is for location and price then this fits the bill comfort and nice hotel stay prob look elsewhere.
Review 16:great location good price.
Review 17:really noisy room at front of hotel a lot of street noise. Parking a nightmare, really tight access down side of hotel to tiny car park. Had to spend a fortune on on street parking with discs
Review 18:good location close to the town centre
Review 19:It didnt really bother us but may bother a light sleeper planning to stay ..... Noise from the bar below our room and noise from floor boards in the hall(even though they are carpet covered) noise from people returning to their room and noise from the street. We could also hear the doorbell when other people returned later that night.
Review 20:Room was warm and spacious. The bed was extremely comfortable. The shower was amazing, very powerful. Breakfast was fabulous. STAFF WERE VERY PLEASANT ESPECIALLY AT BREAKFAST☺
Review 21:there are no lifts in the hotel no powerpoint in bathroom. toilet roll holder too far away
Review 22:Ability to get a room with late notice. Sleeping on a queen/double after 2 weeks of sleeping on singles Very helpful staff Good hot breakfast
Review 23:as I am a fire service engineer couldn't but notice some extinguishers had the gage in the red which could mean the extinguisher might not work and also the powder and co2 extinguishers had foam ID signs over them.
Review 24:the bar food was excellent really enjoyed the steak both evenings.
Review 25:Private car park difficult to negotiate if you have a big car. I rented a people carrier so access via the 90 degree alley way entrance requires careful precise driving. You get used to it.
Review 26:Excellent customer service
Review 27:Everything was organised on arrival and we were given early check in, also a room at the front as requested. This was not our first time at this hotel we will be back. The breakfast is brilliant and one evening when we were late getting back they were very helpful and made food available for us.
Review 28:The fact the hotel doesn't have a lift this should be mentioned in the description of hotel because we were originally given a room on the 3rd floor alot of stairs, we were changed without any hassle after request due to partner having walking difficulties to 1st floor room
Review 29:The friendly staff,
Review 30:We were on third floor. No lift. But staff did bring bag up for us.
Review 31:Hotel was lovely inside.staff were so nice. Food was lovely. We had lunch dinner and breakfast. Could not fault the food.
Review 32:the room we had was the size of a store room far to small for two people also we had no hot water in our room and a noisy fan right outside the window the tv was the size of a matchbox
Review 33:the bar area was nice but the barstaff finished early and the porter / barman was only there in between hovering, cleaning etc so we sat for 25mins waiting for a drink
Review 34:No bad experience
Review 35:We've stayed before and knew what to expect in terms of being quiet, homely, cleanliness and some old familiar staff to greet you. The food and presentation was excellent.
Review 36:The standard of the room was beyond expectation and the staff were very helpful. There was also a great variety for breakfast and evening meals were very reasonable priced.
Review 37:We booked free parking but it was full including trades vehicles; upshot we ended up paying for on street parking which had to be topped up every 2 hours. We checked in, having advised of our arrival time in advance through booking.com (we were 2 hours late checking in) when we got to our room, housekeeping had not serviced the room and the room had to be prepared while we waited.
Review 38:Bar staff couldn't do enough for guests.
Review 39:If its weekend noisy no fault of the hotels thou' can't be helped
Review 40:Shop till you drop and drop bags right back to the hotel everything just walking distance brilliant
Review 41:Room very clean but basic & I thought very expensive but I know it was peak season & we we didn't book much in advance. Great central location but room far too expensive & also small room
Review 42:Hotel very central, friendly & relaxed.
Review 43:The room was a little dated with a view of the parking lot which included a rather LARGE propane gas tank.
Review 44:The staff were professional and helpful. The hotel and rooms, although a little dated, were clean and tidy. The included breakfast was excellent.
Review 45:Our bedroom had a double bed in what was a single room. No room to move. Only one bedside locker and there was noise all night from air conditioning unit outside our room. Wouldn't stay there again.
Review 46:Just the location.
Review 47:First given small noisy room. Had to complain. Breakfast not included in overpriced accommodation. No leisure centre. No lovely rooms to sit and relax.
Review 48:Liked having a base in Kerry.
Review 49:The location was perfect, right in the centre of town without being too noisy. Our room was very spacious with a lovely shower! Great breakfast and nice staff!
Review 50:Had no problems however would note to people who wanted a lie in to request a room at rear
Review 51:Friendliness and helpfulness of staff especially Martin and lirie
Review 52:Very warm in bedroom
Review 53:Staff were very helpful and informative. Breakfast was very good, bar food was excellent and staff very friendly. Would stay here again.
Review 54:No lifts. Rooms very cramped, very dated décor. Didn' feel freshly cleaned. Strange noises from radiator woke us both up several times during the night. Walls let in a lot of noise.
Review 55:Friendly staff
Review 56:Bedroom standard was below what I expected. This was mainly due to toilet seat being broken on arrival in room. Not a major issue but it's the small things that matter!
Review 57:Friendly staff; great location.
Review 58:No elevator, so not entirely suitable for travellers with small children. No cleaning, at least there was none during our stay.
Review 59:Central location, historic building, helpful staff.
Review 60:Very small car park ment we had to park on main road. Hotel wifi wouldn't connect to either of our phones.
Review 61:Very comfortable laid back hotel, staff were excellent and very friendly. Would definitely recommend, a good bargain for the price
Review 62:Didn't have a lift in the building.Excelent clean & very comfortable
Review 63:Staff were excelent & went out of there way to help you if you needed anything, food great & hot
Review 64:Parking space behind hotel extremely narrow, avoid, park in the street instead
Review 65:Location great, nice breakfast, parking in the street in front of hotel very good, friendly staff, charming old hotel
Review 66:Room was to the street side and therefore some noise during the night. Then again it's in a great central location.
Review 67:Staff was very friendly. We had a excellent dinner in the Hotel bar.
Review 68:Our room was at the front of the hotel on the third floor. The hotel doesn't have a lift so you need to be fit! The room was way too hot so we had to open the windows - It was very noisy that night, constant traffic & people, until well after 2.30am. Smell of fumes in the room probably caused by opening the windows! The choice was Bake or Suffocate!
Review 69:The location was excellent, in the middle of Tralee town.
Review 70:Noise levels - could hear everything in adjacent bedrooms. TV, door slamming people making tea. Rooms at back of hotel face the kitchen so loud fan noise. Breakfast was dry and unappetising. Scrambled egg overdone and dried up rashers. No extra toast provided
Review 71:Location was excellent. Staff friendly.
Review 72:No lifts, the Blind in the bathroom was very dirty & wasn't working. The room was to small for three beds. The tv in the room wasn't working.
Review 73:The hotel was very central
Review 74:The temperature of the room was far too high when we arrived.
Review 75:The room was quite spacious and the staff were extremely friendly on arrival/departure.
Review 76:Wifi did not work in room which was facing the back car park (did work in front rooms). Car park was full when we arrived and had to park on the street at an hourly cost. Breakfast was ok, however over cooked (however it was included in the price of the accommodation so no major complaints)
Review 77:Very close to town centre, nice helpfully staff. Would recommend to stay here or the Grand Hotel next door due to the location.
Review 78:Single bed Pillows were like rocks. Bed was hard. Quilt was hard. Worse sleep ever. Actually i didnt sleep. upgrade needed. Letting down rest of hotel.because the rest of the hotel was fab. Lovely breakfast. Great location
Review 79:Style, clean, good value for money
Review 80:There was no lift which although this was not an issue for me personally, it might well be for others. The building is of it's age which has a charming quality but could do with a facelift on the bedroom side.
Review 81:Jenny at front desk was helpful, professional and unassuming. . .most impressive!! Location very good. Breakfast was good with lovely healthy options. . . egg white scrambled egg with spinach and vine ripened tomatoes. Check out Baily's Corner pub around the corner. . .a real find. 90+ whiskies on display
Review 82:There is nothing about the hotel that I disliked.
Review 83:The Imperial Hotel in an excellent town-centre location is a delight to stay in. Immaculate cleanlinesss, friendly and helpful staff, very comfortable bedrooms (equipped with wi-fi, television, tea and coffee-making facilities, iron and ironing board, hairdryer, en-suite bathroom) makes this one of the most desirable hotels in Tralee town. The breakfast - which offers a huge choice - is probably the best I have eaten anywhere. All in all, I recomment this hotel most highly.
Review 84:I loved the room me and my fiance stayed in. The room was lovely and we went in the dining room for breakfast really old fashioned which is what I like. I would suggest people should stay there I give a rating 10/10. Staff are very friendly.
Review 85:The bed was very uncomfortable and squeaked with the slightest movement and the walls could be sound proofed better.
Review 86:price and location were idea and facilities in the hotel were very good.
Review 87:There was only a net curtain in the bathroom. there was in my opinion no privacy.if the light was switched on. you anyone on the outside could see what you were doing.
Review 88:parking area bit of a disaster and not help with the large dustbin which seem to be right in the middle of the way trying to get out in an extremely dark and narrow lane way ,no access to hotel from car park
Review 89:room was comfortable bright and quite , hotel was central and accessible. Nice and friendly staff, good breakfast
Review 90:Receptionist in the am who did not respond when I said "good morning" on my way to breakfast, this does not create a good impression. The fact that I had to eat in the bar with a big TV and football on while trying to read.
Review 91:The location The Price The food.
Review 92:Leaving to go home
Review 93:Staff were very helpful and accommodating .... Nothing was too much trouble. The hotel is warm friendly and clean and very central for the shops. I would highly recommend staying here .... Breakfast freshly cooked .... All meals excellent and happy friendly service. Would definitely recommend this hotel and will be back
Review 94:We were on third floor with no lift We arrived in the room and the windows were unlocked
Review 95:Staff were so nice on check in and out. The breakfast was brought to the table The food was delicious. We had two kids with us and we were continously being offered help by the staff Forgot my iphone charger and on arrival home rang hotel and it arrived home in the post the following day
Review 96:shower was very small and noise from the hall. Was hoping for a snooze after breakfast, but through no fault of the hotel we had someone playing the bag pipes outside our window, no snooze :-(
Review 97:location, comfortable room. good breakfast.
Review 98:Car park only hold about 10 cars and is extremely tight to get into and get out from.
Review 99:I found the staff excellant, very professional and homely. The recepitionist who greeted me was brilliant, i was looking for directions and she went out of her way to google it and give me a map as to where i needed to go. The 2 barmen i was dealing with had great humour and a great relationship with the locals who came in for food. Very impressed.
Review 100:Old building with creaky flooring. Sound travels easily so be prepared for limited sleep. Even though hotel wasn't busy there was still a lot of noise from other residents, not their fault, just poor sound proofing.
Review 101:Breakfast was good. Car parking free but limited spaces. Good location. Staff friendly enough but did not go out of their way to make you feel welcome. Wouldn't have been impressed if there on holiday.
Review 102:We requested a twin room in a quiet part of the hotel which was duly provided but it was unbelievably small for 2 people.
Review 103:Location convenient for local places of interest such as Siamsa, the museum, restaurants, shops and railway station Staff were friendly, welcoming and attentive.
Review 104:Parking limited unless you pay for it Room could do with bit of decorating
Review 105:Ideally located Food very good and reasonable priced Homely atmosphere Staff very helpful
Review 106:The car park is tiny so we had to park on street and pay, its just a new since to remember to go out and put tickets on th car. The bed was really uncomfortable.
Review 107:In the center of tralee, in walking distances to everything you need.
Review 108:The room was ok, but kind of pricey for what it was. The room was not dirty but was not as clean as the other places we stayed in Ireland. Would definitely need refurbishing. I would not stay there again.
Review 109:Nice breakfast, hotel well located in the center of Tralee. Good shower. It was allright for a one night stay on the way to Dingle Peninsula,
Review 110:There was no lift which is something we were made well aware of before we booked!
Review 111:I loved the location. The hotel was spotless! The staff were very friendly and chatty and helpful. It was nice to sit in the bar and have the staff talk to us.
Review 112:The pillows were a bit shallow and firm. The fan noise, perhaps from the kitchen?
Review 113:Friendly and efficient staff. Lots of hot water. Comfortable beds. Excellent food. Central location.
Review 114:Noise the room was too warm and when you open the windows the street was too noisy. I did request a quiet room. Parking was almost impossible we had to park on the street most of the time.
Review 115:Location and service
Review 116:The smell of smoke from rooms was sickly TV stuck on wall in top right of room why???? Shower curtain stick to bath so can't run bath without getting in!!
Review 117:Staff friendly Good location
Review 118:We didn't like the long walk up the stairs as there's no lift.
Review 119:Staff were very helpful and friendly. We had food in the bar and it was excellent. We loved our stay in the imperial hotel and we go back again.
Review 120:Pillows very hard. Room far too small for two adults. No room to lay out our suitcases. Nowhere to set out our toiletries. Only one bedside table and lamp as no room for more. Only one upright chair as no room for more, so not possible for two to sit in comfort to read or watch TV. No porter available on departure to carry cases from 2nd floor.
Review 121:Location and breakfast were satisfactory. Bed size was also satisfactory.
Review 122:Hotel situated in centre of town, own off street parking. Food excellent. Staff very friendly and helpful. Will stay there again. Recommend to friends & family
Review 123:We had a room to the back of the hotel, a fan of some sort outside our room was running all night!!
Review 124:Perfect stop over in Tralee on our way to Dingle on our bikes. The staff were great and really looked after us. They even stored our bikes in a secure location at the rear of the hotel.
Review 125:Parking not great only down side of the stay.
Review 126:All the staff could not do enough for us and where so friendly. You could tell they loved there job and where so proud of there hotel. Great value stay, had dinner there was fabolous and breakfast to.
Review 127:Small, cramped room facing front with old sash windows that wouldn't close properly. Noise from outside and cold draught all night.
Review 128:Staff were really friendly and helpful.
Review 129:Only thing is there is no lift! Although staff will assist with luggage.
Review 130:Fantastic location, lovely food and the staff are so friendly and yet professional.
Review 131:parking very poor ,hard to get to hotel during our stay for the rose of tralee festival as denny street closed most of the time , not being told about those things i believe was terrible,
Review 132:staff very friendly ,food very good, room very comfortable,
Review 133:windows opening on a noisy street with some late night revellers- nothing much the hotel can do about that!
Review 134:The welcome and helpfulness of staff quiet fellow guests
Review 135:noise on the street during night off-street parking limited but staff very helpful re accomodating us to park in the afternoon
Review 136:breakfast excellent and rooms very good location very good for shopping
Review 137:For the older person a lot of stairs to get up. Car park tight, lucky we got one.
Review 138:Locality Quiet Near the Rose garden Able to drive to places eg.Fenit, Banna Strand Spacious Breakfast excellent
Review 139:Street in morning was very noisy. Sea gulls, crows fighting over rubbish bin opposite window woke us very early. Street cleaners working etc. Place itself was in need of a face lift and not worth the price charged . Breakfast was only OK. Very tight car parking facilities but we were left stay there after checking out and they don't charge you for it!
Review 140:Very central to town, shops, bars etc. Staff were courteous Would recommend it if you weren't staying too long!
Review 141:Travelling with my sister and elderly parents. Staff were fantastic especially Jenny on the front desk who was pleasant and very helpful. Will be back and will highly recommend to others. Cheers Helen Curry Australia
