Reviews for Vandiris - Odeyo Sas

Review 1:Extraordinary location. You can see sunrises and sunsets lying i the bed! Although main purpose was hiking we were able to see famous Manarola presepe every day during our staying (25-28.12.2015).

Review 2:Not a high standard but good value and view. The entrance is very narrow for handling with baby carriage, But ok without it.

Review 3:The location is great, also the view. The cleaner helped us also about the train times and was very nice.

Review 4:Wifi was weak or, rarely, turned off. Detailed instructions were sent for accessing the room, however the message sent made it so confusing that we were trying to enter the pin code at the closed reception instead of at the hotel room which was another building.

Review 5:Sea view

Review 6:I didn't think this was good value for the cost of the room. The beds where not comfortable, we only had an electric jug to make a hot drink with.

Review 7:Great location and we really enjoyed watching the sunset

Review 8:We arrived early in pouring rain. Cleaner let us in as room was ready. Unit 3 is to the front of the building with a deck over the cliff above the landing point for the ferry, brilliant for a few wines and cheese as the sun sets. This room has a queen bed and a rough single suitable for a teen or that extra! The walk up from railway is all path with no steps. My WiFi worked all the time, contra to what others report. Photo - the second building from right is Unit 3 with deck.

Review 9:Wish the wi-fi was available in all the rooms. But can not complain much about it since the wi-fi was required so less with beautiful nature all around...:-)

Review 10:It was brilliant location beyond words can describe, beautiful sights to soak in. Clean, comfortable and a wonderful room. Felt like home.

Review 11:There was nothing we didn't like. However, some may find the walk up to the apartments a little hard. But then it's all the same in Cinque Terra.

Review 12:What a view and it was right outside our window and door. We were a little worried about the public access to the lookout right outside our window to start with, but hardly anyone used it except us. It was like having our own huge private balcony overlooking the Mediterranean which we took full advantage of every afternoon with drinks at sunset. Debora who looks after the accommodations couldn't have been more helpful. We have no hesitations recommending Vandris Manorola.

Review 13:Long walk from station. The station could be heard. TV doesn't work and kettle no safety trigger switch. Never saw owner but only the employee.

Review 14:The view was breathtaking. Basic amenities up to standard except TV.

Review 15:Wifi was weak if it were working at all. It's great if you are wanting to escape but not if you have some business to do. The trek up the stairs is brutal wife suitcases. Found out there is an incline ramp all the way to the room if you take a right from the train tunnel and then the next right.

Review 16:Room 3 is perhaps the best view in Cinque Terre. Not that there is a bad view, but this was spectacular. Sunsets were picture perfect.

Review 17:We didn't end up seeing anyone who worked for the accommodation. The instructions said to go to another property to check-in in the morning but we didn't know where it was, so we filled in the paperwork ourselves. I thought we had our own balcony, but instead our room had a door open directly onto the pathway that overlooked the water. So with our door open we had people walking by our room to check out the view. You could easily walk there yourself and sit on the wall or bench seating near the accommodation and have the same view as we did.

Review 18:The view was amazing and the property was the last stop along the pathway to a small area overlooking the sea. There was wifi though the connection was spotty unless you were in the entry way. Beds were comfortable in the triple room. Besides the tourists walking by our front door, it was very quiet.

Review 19:Room was VERY small, wi-fi unreliable, or non-existent; shower door broken; no air-conditioner, but fan was sufficient.... Would NOT be during summer!

Review 20:Located up quite a climb, but the views from our room, was WELL worth it!....STUNNING!!

Review 21:we did not no there was no reception we advised we will be late and we have to call a phone number to get a code for the door the three first call there was no answer so someone in a store help us to joined the owner it was stressfull the wifi did not work in the room but in the corridor

Review 22:The room was very clean the location is quiet and the view from the room

Review 23:WiFi was very sporadic, sometimes ok and sometimes nothing. Actual view from room was not much until you went outside onto public walkway.

Review 24:Location at the end of the walkway was great with stunning views. Quite private, even more so as the evening passed on.

Review 25:the noise from the trains and the visitors to the patio below, but the worst part was that the sheets were stained with an old blood stain!

Review 26:the view of the ocean

Review 27:Room gets pretty stuffy and hot during the summer. No air-con unit. only a small fan is provided however not much concern to us as we are out 70% of the time. Fridge isn't working

Review 28:Very good view of the sea. Near the train station and also the eating area. Owner of property is prompt in replies.

Review 29:To be fair, I like this property very much. But I was unhappy about the check-in when I arrived. As requested by the people who manage the apartment, I sent my arrival time several days in advance. However, when I arrived, I found the room was a mess and had not been cleaned yet. I had to wait for more than an hour until the room was cleaned and ready to stay in.

Review 30:The room has a great view of the sea, and locates in a quiet area, which is rare in Manarola, and very close to the sea side and the center of the village.

Review 31:The windows do not have screens and there is no air conditioning. The breeze from the sea was helpful. But since there were no screens, there were spider webs filled with small bugs in the corners of our ceilings. The place feels more like a sea side cottage. Again, well worth it-but be prepared. It is a plain, simple, place with a view that will never be forgotten.

Review 32:The view from our balcony was spectacular. The stroll uphill to our hotel was somewhat strenuous, but there are so many beautiful locations along the way to pause and catch your breath and take in the scenery, it is well worth it! (I'm 56, and have had a knee replacement and need another, And was wearing a backpack-and made it without a problem!). Since the hotel is out of the way a bit, it is extremely quiet.

Review 33:The WiFi is iffy. However, I do understand it is a hilly environment and it may be a challenge to get a good signal always. The only way to make that room better would be if there was a big picture window on the front of the room. (We stayed in Room 1). Just a side note: this neighborhood would not be suitable for anyone with any mobility limitations.

Review 34:The view was amazing!!! The staff was very helpful. Via Belvedere was easy to find, especially from the tip of one of the previously submitted posts. I usually stay in a hotel in Manarola and it is my favorite town of the five, but Vandiris did not disappoint. And many of the locals in this neighborhood were very friendly, which I enjoyed!

Review 35:Handwash sink inside restroom was draining too slow. Wifi was not consistent and would lose signal. Router too far from room.

Review 36:Location and balcony overlooking the ocean.

Review 37:A fan was not provided the first night and there was no A/C. Unacceptable in 95 degree weather. Also, bathroom sink would not drain. Manager and staff were not on-site or nearby. Cleaning staff came early in the morning. Complicated to find location.

Review 38:Manager was helpful and got a fan.

Review 39:The room is a little bit old and small. The room is double booked by another couple at the same time, (they had exactly same confirmation letter and instruction of how to get into the room from the host as me) I don't know which part is wrong, but if i checked in later than that American couple, then I may lost the my room, because all rooms are booked, I don't know how the host solved the problem finally.

Review 40:The location is perfect, my balcony is face to the sea, very nice view! Considering it's peak season in Manarola, and almost all B&B is full, we are quite lucky to get a room.

Review 41:Can hear train station beeps & announcements when windows are open ... though these stop at night.

Review 42:Awesome views. Room has all the facilities that you would need. It is the last building on the right as you look from the water upwards ... It has unrestricted views & few people walking past. Manorala is a great small village with good swimming from the rocks & lots of good restaurants. We toured all of Cinque Terra & like this village best

Review 43:No quick way to get coffee in the morning

Review 44:Our large balcony and windows that faced the sea, sound of the waves, very nice staff. Love Manarola and Cinque Terre!

Review 45:We had difficulties with the fridge and wi-fi that were eventually resolved.

Review 46:AMAZING location with 180-degree views of the sea and coastline and a great balcony from which to view. Room was basic but comfortable and very adequate.

Review 47:The wifi was unreliable and you had to sit in the common hallway for it to work. Wifi seems to be challenging in a lot of the more remote places we stayed so we dealt with it, but we are spoiled Americans so it was frustrating when we couldn't get on or had to sit in a dark hallway to get online. Certainly not a deal breaker for us but for some it might be.

Review 48:We loved being perched up on the top of the hills of Manarola overlooking the see. The terrace adjacent to Vandiris was worth the price alone--we sat out there and picnicked, watched the sun rise and set. The room as fine--not deluxe but we weren't in it that much. The shower was awesome--lots of hot water and pressure. Close walk to town and train station. We stayed 3 nights and it was a great spot for our group of 4 women in our 60s.

Review 49:Room is very clean, comfortable. Nice shower. Great location with a small balcony that overlooks the water... Didn't receive the instructions for 'checking in' (I had been travelling with intermittent access to email), and had to call the telephone number. Deborah was immediately helpful and very kind! Wonderful experience and would stay here again!!

Review 50:No cutlery or plates old dirty kettle and the tiled floors were dirty.no maps or information of town was provided. Balcony chairs poor. Not a cheap place so a few of the things stated would have been good.

Review 51:Position.for the view huge balcony.

Review 52:The room was cold and no way to turn on the heat. There was no internet the entire stay and even though we tried several times we were unable to contact the property manager.

Review 53:The view from the room was great.

Review 54:-the service is not very convenient because the check in and check out time is only morning. There's usually no staff in the building.

Review 55:-location -the room on the first floor is big and with a private acces to the room from outside, with a sea view, like a private balcony. -the room is clean

Review 56:Deb will email you prior to your stay. I didn't get the email but we worked it out. Cost me some time in a beautiful area but it worked out and she was very helpful. I would do it all over again.

Review 57:Take the train into Manarola. Walk the tunnel. Turn right (away from the sea). About 50 meters is a hidden walkway. It almost looks like the tunnel you just came out of but no steps. Lots of steps otherwise. Deb was great and worked things out with us after a bit of confusion. The wifi didn't really reach our room but there are other places for that. And the views. Holy smokes! If there are better ones in Manarola then you've made a deal with the devil - this place is outstanding!

Review 58:We booked our room in the morning BEFORE leaving Tuscany (so we had a drive) but had not heard from owner how to find her and we're not given code to get in the building. We went into Manarola in search of phone since we were US and did not have phones to make a call. A nice lady helped us call the owner but after three failed tries over a two hour period and two emails, we were very frustrated. Luckily two of us stayed at the door of B & B while the others were trying to call. Finally a laundry service person showed up and she was able to get a hold of the owner for us. She stated she just got the confirmation from bookings 5-6 hrs after we made the reservation-

Review 59:We had two rooms; one with a sea view and the other a small balcony. Both lovely and the rooms were nice size. Loved the coffee pot and glasses, plus refrigerator. Fabulous location.

Review 60:wifi is not so strength in the ground floor room N1. Avoid the millipedes outside the room, at the terrace. But they are well trained, do not come inside.

Review 61:Location, view, staff, clean Would have been best to get the room in 1st floor or above. Nonetheless a good place for staying.

Review 62:Staff just left the key in the door and on check-out date were waiting at 10AM to kick you out of the room. WiFi only works at front door and light does not stay on in this area. Had to constatnly push the timer to use the WiFi

Review 63:The view was unbeatable

Review 64:Nice view. You don't need to use the stairs to get to the appartment. After the tunnel, turn right and follow the first path to the right until you reach the apartment.

Review 65:This is the room you see in advertising photos but never get to stay at. Our son stayed there and recommended it. Got off the train at Riomaggiore by mistake and left our luggage there, except for backpacks with essentials. Couldn't find the path first time, so climbed vertiginous stairs to via Belvedere, but it was worth it. Debora the owner, and Ms Simona were very helpful at all times. The view from the room (our was #4) can't be adequately described, has to be experienced. Manarola is such a beautiful peaceful village in September.

Review 66:Though the beds, furniture and bathroom was clean, the floor was littered with fine dust and lint. The tea service was not restocked nor the floor cleaned the next day. No ac even for hot days.

Review 67:The hotel is located over looking the cliff face and railway station of Manarola. The Room No.1 appointed to us was large and had a good sized bathroom. Tea service and TV was provided. Our room door opened on the path of the sunset viewing point and we had stunning views of the sea and the toy model like railway station in a distance. We could hear the sea and waves through the night.

Review 68:no breakfast. the bed was too small for a couple and it was not comfortable. the room looks a bit like dorms, and there was a door in the room that was locked, and we didn't know where it's lead to. bad wi-fi connection inside the room so we had to use the internet in the hall. for the worst part, i think the most disappointing thing was that because its a small family hotel (5 rooms) i didn't meet any person from the hotel, except from check-out (that we had to go to enother building). all the arriving instructions were given by email, no explanations about what there is to do, no welcoming, nothing.

Review 69:nice sea view, although from our room (number 5) you could also see and hear the trainstation. the location in manarola is great. the room is big, specially the bathroom. tv.

Review 70:Nothing really to complain about...the fridge was a little noisy at night, we had to turn it off.

Review 71:It is located away from the busiest parts of Manarola, and as a result is quiet at most times of the day. At night you only hear the lapping of the waves below. We stayed in Room 1. Though this is the only Vandiris room without a balcony, the door opens up onto a terrace with a brilliant view and the owner provides an outdoor table and chair to use - watching the sunset here was lovely. Facilities were excellent and clean. The shower was always as hot as required, and powerful.

Review 72:Wifi is weak but still ok. Nothing relevant to the hotel but... if you have a lot of spare time get there by train, if not, take your car as a train are cancelled on a regular basis. Parking is available and the walk isn't that bad

Review 73:Room gives a view of the sea and the train station. Minimalist but we didn't need much anyway.

Review 74:We were travelling for 5 weeks, and of all our bookings, I felt that this was going to be the least desirable. I was very wrong. The Location was phenomenal. The view from the window is directly out to sea, and you lie in bed, and listen to the waves - unbeatable. The room was a great size, the bed was comfortable. There was a fridge, safe, and kettle - all that you need. The Bathroom was clean, again, nice and spacious. Room was secure, as was building. This building is not staffed - yet our communication prior to arriving was unfaultable. Would recommend these apartments to anyone, and would absolutely stay again on return to Cinqure Terre

Review 75:Nothing much, just be aware no breakfast is included in the room rental.

Review 76:Vandiris is one of the top notch places commented on various sites and I can see why. The location, the view, the apartment was all good.

Review 77:The room really has no view The cups were chipped and boken No useful information provided about Manarola or the region This room is very expensive for what it is We stayed 5 nights and there is no real provision to eat in the room The room is directly on a public path so not secure and noisy into the night ie 1 oclock

Review 78:The shower and bathroom

Review 79:The view was amazing and the hotel sits at the end of a street with it's own large little "square". Room n. 1 was very large based on European standards and comfortable. No issues what so ever and I would definitely stay here again. Communication was very good from the staff. Did not see them other than the firsts morning when we paid and gave a copies of our passports. I would suggest printing out (or saving to your smart phone) the email that has the instructions on how to enter the room as well as how to find the hotel. It was very easy to follow but I could see it being a nightmare finding it/getting into the hotel if I hadn't saved and printed the info beforehand.

Review 80:Great localization, amazing view from tarace (i think one of the best possible views in the hole town), very clean, everything You need is available in the room. Definitely the place to go back to!;)

Review 81:it's a pink building on a cliff which you can see it from the train station. All u can see from the window of room is SEA. Although it's not very clean, and no staff at all, The view worth everything.

Review 82:The room itself was basic, comfortable and clean. The view was the best part, it was not possible to have a better ocean view and made our trip to Manarola truly unforgettable. I would definitely stay here again.

Review 83:We wanted to pay by credit card, but weren't able to. A couple of plates, & knives would have been handy.

Review 84:We were thrilled with this accommodation, it was well located, with beautiful views from the deck. Nice apartment, modern, clean & tidy.

Review 85:Difficult to find; no locals seemed to know the street name. We resorted to GPS. Luggage had to be carried a long distance (500+ meters and uphill)from the closest point accessed by vehicle. So we packed the bare necessities in a back pack leaving the luggage in the car. Had to call to get code to access unit. Although I was told an email was sent with code, I never received it. It was nerve racking for a bit. And staff was most interested in knowing time we were checking out to have someone on site collect payment and check passports. I believe the room was advertised to have A/C. None was available.

Review 86:Being so remote and high in altitude offered great views and uninterrupted sounds of the surf. Room very clean and comfortable. Slept with window opened and had a nice cool breeze and sound of the surf.

Review 87:The bed was not the most comfortable, but not terrible either. You'll have to walk uphill from the train to the hotel with your luggage, which wasn't a problem for me but could be for others. And finally, the staff isn't around much so make sure you have their number if you need them!

Review 88:Amazing views, I was in a room with a small balcony that overlooked the water. The room was spacious with a great bathroom and shower, very modern and excellent water pressure.
