Reviews for Renvyle House Hotel
Review 1:€8.50 for a reasonably well known bottle of craft cider was a bit excessive I felt.
Review 2:Food was exceptional, really cosy with turf fires and comfortable armchairs and couches. Service was also excellent.
Review 3:Nothing bad
Review 4:This hotel is such a lovely, friendly, relaxing place to stay. It's situated in beautiful grounds & on it's own private beach & the surrounding scenery is stunning. The food in the restaurant is fantastic. Lovely smell of turf fires at night. Would definitely go back.
Review 5:Room cleaning and bar service could have been better.
Review 6:The wonderful atmosphere of the old house, particularly the cosy entrance area and the lounge. Restaurant staff were super as were reception staff. The extensive grounds for walking, the closeness of the sea and spectacular location.
Review 7:Gamekeeper Kevin was a washout when his only gun didn't work. No apology from either him or the staff that arranged our clay pigeon shooting. Hotel is outdated with rusty handrails and broken locks.
Review 8:The food
Review 9:The location is excellent. It's a unique experience staying at Renvyle. We loved the Arts and Crafts architecture in the main areas of the hotel. We loved the peat fires and the ambience. The quiz night was great fun. Our room was small but maybe that's because we brought our small dog. The staff were excellent.
Review 10:Not much choice on bar menu and bar food bland and for pricedid not expect frozen chips to be served. Restaurant costs too high for families. Not enough food served on plates at breakfast and little buffet choices compared with other even lower star rated hotels. WI-FI connection is awful once away from reception area connection gone almost no connection in rooms.
Review 11:Very friendly and curtious staff. Location and outdoor facilities.
Review 12:I loved Renvyle House Hotel. The scenery, location & grounds are so beautiful. The staff are lovely and I fully intend to return in the near future. I have stayed in many hotels around Ireland and this was my favourite!
Review 13:Temperature of water in the bathroom is at times difficult to control. Hysteresis :)
Review 14:Location is fabulous, right at the shore, surrounded by lawns and gardens. Food is good, both in restaurant and the bar
Review 15:Nothing - a wonderful stay from the moment we arrived until, with regret, we departed!
Review 16:Our leisure visit to Renvyle House Hotel was a delight! The staff, reception, restaurant and cleaning staff, were all very helpful, efficient and friendly. The location is superb, with the Atlantic and three sides of the hotel and a lake at the front. The rooms were clean, spacious and comfortable. The breakfast had everything that you could wish for. Dinner was a delight and served with efficiency and charm. Altogether a most memorable visit and one that will certainly be repeated.
Review 17:We liked the house, the comfort, the food, the house surrounds,Renvyle Beach, the cultural connections, Yeats, Oliver St.John Gogarty,Augustus John, Lady Gregory, the wonderful production on Monday evening by 'The Curlew Theatre Company, the peace, calm, tranquility.Just what we needed after long months of hard work.We are very grateful. Thank you all.
Review 18:No biscuits in the room for our tea. I would like cups instead of mugs for tea in our rooms as we have mugs at home.
Review 19:All the facilities. The food. The friendliness of the staff. The view of the sea from the bedroom.
Review 20:The staff were extremely friendly. When we arrived in our room, once we turned on the lights, the sockets blew.We asked the receptio nist for a sidelamp as we were only staying for one night and did not mind staying in the same room.Instead, we were upgraded to a fabulous room.so unexpected. The food was amazing in the restaurant also.We loved our stay here.fabulous location and grounds.Would stay here again
Review 21:very dirty rooms full of dust. double bed was sunk in the centre. not a nice thing to look at the moment you enter the room. the room key was attached to a big dirty wooden block. staff were very friendly and helpful but the hotel charge way too much for what you get. i would class this hotel lower than a hostel
Review 22:Bar food finished at 8pm and there was no chicken or steak on main restaurant menu. Not everybody likes fish/shellfish.......
Review 23:Location was lovely, just walk out the door and you were on a beautiful beach with all amenties just a stones throw away.
Review 24:The hotel is way too big, it is unpersonal, too expensive and cannot cater for individual requests, despite offering them through the booking portal (i.e. single beds or double bed). The food is simply a disgrace and ranges among the worst ever consumed in Ireland.
Review 25:We had a quite room. The location is beautiful.
Review 26:Nothing even 50 years after we first went there.
Review 27:Nothing was too much trouble for staff- Heather was even able to visit in the kitchen to see wheaten bread being made.
Review 28:The room was completely airless and suffocating in warm weather. No aircon. Had big window but only a tiny section of it opened, letting in very little air. TV set was almost unusable and last century's technology.
Review 29:Restaurant, outdoor facilities and location.
Review 30:No 6 . the bed was not comfortable. Well we paid 190 euro for b andb and it was just about worth 90euro.The hotel needs a make over ifyou are to continue to charge these prices. Its dated and those bedsneed replacing

Review 77:Too many kids running around the place at night
Review 78:Location is stunning Good food

Review 80:A bit inconvenient for older generation.
Review 81:Tranquility is the word that comes to mind.
Review 82:Loved the incredible grounds, relaxed atmosphere and very friendly staff!
Review 83:Reception person not enthusiastic or particularly helpful on first morning when we tried to find out where there were good walks in the grounds and nearby. We were at the end of our 48 hr stay before we discovered all the facilities the hotel had. We thought the room was rather basic for 149 euros per night!
Review 84:The location, wonderful setting, great sunset, beautiful gardens, excellent food and most of the staff very friendly.
Review 85:Leaving.
Review 86:The friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. The facilities available at the hotel and also the surrounding area. Shopping in Clifden. The scenery. THE FOOD- yum, yum, yum.
Review 87:Whole place bit dated, Restaurant old fashioned 70s style. Rooms like wise,It is what it says 3* hotel in lovely location. No more no less..
Review 88:Meal in restaurant very good. Service very good, place very clean.
Review 89:Casual dinner would have been better at proper tables rather than coffee tables.
Review 90:Location very relaxing and picturesque. Accommodation comfortable and peaceful. Lovely older section with cosy lounges. Interesting gardens and right on beach. Breakfast offered good variety and excellent service from staff.
Review 91:Bathroom needed updating.
Review 92:The turf fires, which were so welcoming, after returning for the evening, to lovely comfortable beds. There is also some wonderful scenery from the hotel and surrounding area......magnificent sea views. Staff were very polite and helpful too.
Review 93:Relaxing areas were dark and conservatory was too cold to sit in comfort. Vegetables were poor at dinner time the night we were present. The roast pototoes were greasy/ oily.
Review 94:Staff were very pleasant
Review 95:Nothing, really. The upstairs internal corridors felt airless and smelt a bit too strongly of artificial polish - but that's a small matter.
Review 96:The wonderful location, the charm of the building, the pleasant garden surrounding the house, the fact that you could walk from the hotel without always having to take the car, the views, the air, the light . . . the staff were friendly and the food was good too.
Review 97:Room was a little dated in terms of decor and furniture. Had an old style tv but in fairness it had a good selection of channels
Review 98:Location was fabulous right beside the sea. Food was top class. Had a wonderful evening meal in the restaurant and a very tasty full Irish breakfast. Brought our dog along and she was allowed into our bedroom. Overall a very comformatable and relaxed environment in a beautiful setting/ Will stay here again in the future
Review 99:Everything was excellent. I was driving to the hotel when in the dark, the wind was rushing furiously and it was rain like in tropical country. I tried to peer the road through the sheeted rain and hardly to hope to get to any decent place. When i have came everithing changed in my mind. There was warm, noisy, merry lounge, friendly staff and confortable room. The breakfasts were wonderful. The general opinion is good, friendly hotel in wonderful place even in winter.
Review 100:There wasa small problem with heating in my room but it was dealt with gracefully and efficiently
Review 101:Just about everything but particularly the wonderful staff, wonderful restaurant and top class location
Review 102:The rooms are a bit basic. Some of the waiters werent as good as last year but this is nit picking as overall they were great.
Review 103:A hotel that values children is a huge plus for us, they have a massive playroom for winter and swimming, playpark and fishing in the summer, they are not seen as a nuisance and are welcomed with open arms as much as the adults. Food is fabulous.
Review 104:It's not our first time there, but it's a place that we will continue to go back to. It's a hotel that is very friendly and comforting, with great food and a wonderful location.
Review 105:While the kids club did include a mini play on one night, the rest of the time there were not many activities arranged for the children. Also, at €15 each, the cost of the kids meal was too high.
Review 106:The food was excellent and general ambiance in the hotel was great.
Review 107:Nothing - it was fab!
Review 108:The staff were exceptional, and did much more than expected to make our stay enjoyable. Food was excellent! The children loved it too! Scenery out of this world!
Review 109:The rain on weds meant I only did a short walk on my first day.... Buthey it's Connemara & even the R.H.H. is not God !!!!
Review 110:Location.... Friendliness.... Easy-going informality.....food......Getting in a good 6 hour walk on my 2nd day....
Review 111:Dining room service was marginal. Once the staff started setting up for breakfast, they made every attempt to avoid eye contact or be available to advance dinner. The room was awful. Tiny and spartan. It would have embarrassed a dorm room!
Review 112:Excellent food. Nice public spaces, although a bit run down.
Review 113:The 9 hole golf course and putting green needed attention. The croquet set was broken.
Review 114:The food was excellent and the staff friendly and helpful. The swimming pool was fine.
Review 115:I have only 1 comment and that is that some of the seating in the foyer and elsewhere needs to be more back friendly. I appreciate that it takes a punishment but it really is hard to get up from as the sofas sag a bit. I do not care about fancy upholstery or fashion, just that they give support to bad backs.
Review 116:I liked everything: staff, location, facilities, food and atmosphere - lovely place. It was a real oasis of tranquility.
Review 117:Bar food limited. Type-face on Menus very hard to read - could be designed much better. Evening dinner quite limited as well.
Review 118:Very Friendly. Loads of activities for children. Pet friendly. You could really chill out. Brilliant breakfasts.
Review 119:The cost of the rooms-each room had a double bed, and two single beds which was excessive to our needs and this was not clear from the website. Nothing could be done at the hotel and so I paid well beyond the odds for the accommodation (for only 4 people) which was not as good as it could have been. Specifically I really dislike not having a top sheet before the duvet. Very poor considering the overall standard of the hotel. The public spaces are charming but a little more attention to detail would make them topclass-lamps and furniture piled in corners and in rooms eg library. Pool was a little dirty???
Review 120:I loved the place, weather brilliant so we had a great time. The food was excellent. Staff friendly and kind ....
Review 121:it was cold, no fire on which i was not happy about, there were no turf, dinner and breakfast were cold,
Review 122:it was lovely place to stay for peace, time out..
Review 123:nothing.
Review 124:The setting was stunning and the free use of boats canooes, tennis courts etc meant that we had no desire to leave the space we were in. The breakfast was excellent and the staff were more than accomodating. This home from home had all the added extras that excuded years of experience when it comes to satisfying peoples needs on a break away.
Review 125:The best hotel in Connemara...the setting is perfect, people are very friendly and they always try to make your stay memorable. We will definitely come again!!! :-)
Review 126:Water was not hot enough for bath or shower which was a big disappointment. Reception meeting could have been friendlier. Beds and bedroom could do with modernising.
Review 127:The food was fabulous so were the dining staff. The surroudings were also extremely good. Rooms were very clean.
