Reviews for The Dorsal Boutique Hotel
Review 1:It was like a prison cell with a view. Poor layout, no ambiance, no basic kitchen utensils. Not a plate or a knife. Bathroom had bench around the basin to put you makeup no towel rack just two hooks positioned so badly over the only two shelves covering anything you had on the small shelves. I have been going to Forster for over 45 years and stayed in many locations but this has too be by far the worst value for money.
Review 2:The location and the restaurant below (not owned by The Dorsil) were excellent.
Review 3:Extremely happy with the friendly and efficient young lady who checked us in them came up and demonstrated the EZILIFT .. and well done for getting rid of the old catering setup and creating The Sicilian ... what an amazing dining experience .. magnificent food brilliant atmosphere .. thankyou.
Review 4:500 dollar a night was way over the top for that sort of room. I've had a full 2 bedroom appartment in the heart of Melboune for 300 a night with kitchen and views over the city..
Review 5:The view.
Review 6:Quite a few things were of concern, our self closing door NEVER shut, we had to use excessive force to close. The water filter is WAY overdue for replacing (took over 90 sec to fill 600ml bottle) Both access cards failed and had to be re issued, & we weren't the only ones impacted with this fault. limited tea/coffee supplies considering no housekeeping xmas day, not advised restaurant was not opening xmas day. Basic toiletries supplied, not even body moisturiser (come on, we are at the beach..) Bed was 2 singles pushed together
Review 7:Fantastic view opposite beach and ocean pool
Review 8:Lacked any personal touches in the room such as paintings on the walls. Very basic, but really wouldn't take much to give it a lift. Missed some simple things like a small plate or knife in the 'kitchenette'. The name 'boutique' hotel is quite misleading, it's really not, so it's a bit pricey for what it is. If I was staying more than one night I'd be very disappointed.
Review 9:Great location and views of the beach. Large room and comfy bed.
Review 10:Not a bad experience but terribly let down on the decor and ambience of the room.
Review 11:The location was fabulous, but the hallways and the units were disgraceful, about 15 years past a redecoration. What a shame as I was prepared for something a little more upmarket
Review 12:Excellent location. Never being in Forster before we were unsure of where to stay. But I don't think there is another hotel in a better spot. Excellent restaurant downstairs. Pricey, but was very nice.
Review 13:Lack of cupboard space for clothes. lack of a microwave
Review 14:Position and quietness of room, off street secure parking. Views of beach and closeness to town.
Review 15:The lighting in the bathroom was really poor. We were attending a wedding so using the mirror for hair and make up was impossible. A little mirror above the desk down the light end of the room would be of benefit.
Review 16:The location was great. Perfect views, close to beach, shops and cafe's. Restaurant downstairs was excellent.
Review 17:Weather but that was completely out of our hands!
Review 18:The restaurant down stairs, The Sicilian, was fabulous. Gorgeous views and very quiet on floor 5. Lovely stay.
Review 19:Room has a kitchenette but no appliances other than a kettle. A toaster and some cutlery for takeaway meals would be nice.
Review 20:Location and view of the room was excellent. The room was quite spacious and comfortable. House keeping staff were really friendly and helpful.
Review 21:Lady on duty at reception on Sunday check out was very abrupt and blunt with my wife when she enquired about a late check out. Not friendly at all...!
Review 22:Great location, Fee at reception on Saturday was very friendly and helpful.
Review 23:Staff didnt smile. Room over rated small on corner paid 260 expected better.Requested a upper storey room booked 3 weeks in advance but still got bottom floor
Review 24:The bath all tho small
Review 25:Had trouble accessing car park at night with key. Night Manager dealt with issue quickly. Quite run down and carpets and chairs were pretty dirty.
Review 26:Location was great. Front staff member dealt with air conditioning not working in a prompt and efficient manner. Bed was comfortable.
Review 27:Bathroom shower screen stuck toilet smelt like urine blown light in bathroom screen door didn't lock room noisy from restaurant and went for dinner at the restaurant the chefwas yelling at his staff the waitresses were running overpriced food and undercooked .If I stayed again I would ask for a room on a highet level away ffom restaurant.
Review 28:Location Pleasant staff
Review 29:Cigarette smoke from neighbouring balcony drifted into our room if we left our balcony door open. Yuk! Even though we had a small kitchenette, there was no provision for eating a meal -- no plates or cutlery.
Review 30:The position overlooking the beach, is magnificent. Appreciated the secure parking and the restaurant, although expensive, was very good.
Review 31:Curtains wouldn't close properly, screen door falling off. Lack of basic facilities in room for a three night stay.
Review 32:Cleanliness, close to beach and town centre. Could leave the car locked up and everything was within walking distance.
Review 33:The lady on reception appeared quite stressed when we arrived and when we arrived at our room the door key didn't work
Review 34:We liked the size of the rooms and the view. The restaurant underneath was lovely and very convenient
Review 35:Very basic. No doors on wardrobes. Two cups, no glasses, no plates, no cutlery, no pictures, NO wifi, gym useless, holes in bedsheets, Very strange smell in apartment. Yuk.
Review 36:Balcony, view and restaurant below
Review 37:Late check ins have to be phoned through but are accommodated
Review 38:Great location by the ocean, relaxing after a long day travelling. Restaurant on ground level Sicilian is very good and welcoming
Review 39:The lack of atmosphere in the room. Very stark. No chair for the desk. The fittings were cheap. The bathroom sink was completely inadequate.the property is more 3.5 stars. Overpriced by at least 50 dollars per night.
Review 40:The location.
Review 41:There was actually nothing we did not like.
Review 42:As we spend a lot of time travelling for business and have stayed at various accomadation at Forster, was extremely happy with The Dorsal and its location. We will return.
Review 43:very poor with amenities,no toaster or implements to have you own breakfast had to go to the restaurant or shops very basic would not stay there again
Review 44:position was all it had
Review 45:While beer was in fridge, no bottleopener supplied, nor cutlery or plates in the obvious kitchenette. A Microwave would be handy if staying longer/with a family.
Review 46:Location was excellent. Hotel clean and secured parking.
Review 47:No microwave, plates or cutlery in kitchenette, not even a bottle opener.
Review 48:Sounds of waves lapping the shore just outside your window, waking up to the glorious sunrise over the water. Walk along the shore or go for a swim before breakfast. Can't beat it!
Review 49:The bed was painfully uncomfortable. There were cobwebs everywhere. The room was sterile and bland looking. The bathroom was not cleaned properly. There was no dish detergent to clean dishes. There was no microwave or other utensils or simple cooking equipment.
Review 50:View of the ocean.
Review 51:No Blankets or Electric Blanket for the colder winter nights.
Review 52:Location, Easy "Free" Parking, Good Room, Great View, Very Comfortable, Very Helpful Staff, Cleanliness, Not Crowded, Very relaxing
Review 53:We found the kitchen had no crockery or cutlery, which would have been okay, if the cafe below had provided an adequate breakfast menu. We also found the bed hard.
Review 54:We liked the view from our room of the ocean, watching Dolphins in the bay was special.
Review 55:Noise across the road from people drinking late about 2am in the morning
Review 56:Lovely view room was clean and spacious every thing was close and easy walking lovel restaurant over all very good
Review 57:bathroom handbasin too small and the split in the king bed to noticeable.restaurant to expensive after spending a lot extra on accommodation.
Review 58:the unit, the building and surrounds were all very nice. for us it was all about the view. my partner and myself spent so much time enjoying the balcony as we were on level 4.
Review 59:Misinformation from staff re booking.com charges when we queried a variation in tariff Door keys did not operate properly Hard pillows Bathroom cramped and we had to request soap Exorbitant wine prices in restaurant
Review 60:Location very good Cleanliness very good
Review 61:For the price per night I thought there should have been selection of toiletries including shampoo, conditioner & body lotion. I also thought there should have been some wines & nuts for purchase.
Review 62:Great location right opposite the beach & we were able to walk everywhere The restaurant called The Sicilian (not affiliated with The Dorsal), was fantastic - great atmosphere, great friendly staff & superb food & wines!
Review 63:I was not advised that the office closed at 7, but I was still able to check-in when I arrived at 8. The TV is too small to see from the bed (the room is large), but the two comfortable chairs could be moved to see the TV more clearly. Check-out was way too early at 10, and they would not accommodate my late checkout request. I was unable to take incoming calls when no one was in the office.
Review 64:The room was large and clean, and the mattress was firm and comfortable. Though not a luxury hotel, everything in the room worked, and the room was very quiet. The AC worked well, though there isn't any AC in the halls or elevator. It rained nearly the whole time I was there, but I still had a very nice, relaxing stay, and I would go back.
Review 65:Large shower door unworkable...should have had a slider.Large facilities door added to the lack of space in the bathroom. No shelf along wall for personal effects, just a small desk & a blank wall. No ice facilities in fridge. sleeping for 3 & seating for 2, no doors on wardrobe.
Review 66:position , size of room , size of balcony
Review 67:Door keys hard to make work. Restaurant down stairs fairly ordinary but I think is independant from hotel.
Review 68:Comfortable room with a great view and right on the beach. Staff very friendly and helpful. Will return.
Review 69:The restaurant is not owned by the motel so you hsve to pay as you go not that's a big deal. The food being slightly average is a bigger deal especially for the price. Better off eating out in town.
Review 70:The hotel is a lovely boutique style hotel right across the road from the beach. It's also a few minutes walk from the main town centre so it's very central. The room is lovely with the usual finishings so it's an easy place to live. The staff are friendly so overall it's an excellent stay.
