Reviews for Fels Point Hotel

Review 1:On check out the receptionist said she had taken the payment out of my card which I had reserved the room with. I was annoyed about this as my boyfriend wanted to pay cash. This has never happened me before and I've used booking.com for years. Also I've stayed in this hotel before and they didn't do that....

Review 2:We had room 305. Lovely spacious room with bathrobes. Very quiet which was great. The hotel is under construction at the moment but that didn't affect our stay in any way.

Review 3:The comfort was amazing. The place was spotless from top to bottom. Sheets and bath towels were fresh. Staff couldn't be more helpful. Loved it. Stayed here previously and will definitely be back again.

Review 4:The hotel is a little out of the way but it is next to a cinema complex and a walking/running track.

Review 5:We had a large room with a comfortable bed and a great bathroom. The best thing about the hotel, however, is the gym. It has heaps of quality equipment, unlike most hotel gyms. The wifi in all areas of the hotel was excellent too.

Review 6:Old TV, weak wifi, poor lighting in the room, tired fittings.

Review 7:Staff were friendly, place was generally nice. A little bit of TLC could make this a really lovely hotel.

Review 8:Nothing couldn't have asked for more

Review 9:Fabulous hotel, couldn't do enough for me. The Staff were superb Andy went beyond the call of duty to ensure I had everything I needed for a comfortable stay & being disabled this was very much appreciated. The Restaurant manager was also incredibly helpful making sure I had everything to hand. I Can't thank everyone enough for making my first trip over since my accident as comfortable as possible highly recommend !!

Review 10:When we returned to the room at midnight there was a smell as if someone had used the toiletNOT GOOD

Review 11:Good location very clean and very reasonably price

Review 12:Just view of rooms opposite from window. External view rooms would have a great view. TV reception was poor for some reason.

Review 13:Great room, very pleasant staff, good breakfast, good value for money

Review 14:I had breakfast at 7.40. It is a buffet style setup but the food was over cooked and pretty tasteless when I got there. It is continuously cooking under the heat lamps. The fresh food a had for dinner was lovely.

Review 15:The setting is great. There is a nice walk along the river lee at the back of the hotel

Review 16:Only thing I can think of is no pool but the receptionist said the aquadome is around the corner.

Review 17:Food was very nice and the rooms are very stylish everything u need.

Review 18:Smell of cigarette smoke in the room. Shower wouldn't work. Reported to reception, but was not fixed. Paid extra to have breakfast, but when I went down to breakfast room, was told that it wasn't included in my stay.

Review 19:Twin room lovely and spacious.

Review 20:We like a pool however its absence would not stop us staying again.

Review 21:Even though the hotel is beside a busy road there was very little noise. The breakfast covered all choices even for a fussy eater.

Review 22:Nothing

Review 23:Everything the staff was lovely... The room was excellent... Overall brilliant few days on my first trip to Tralee. will definitely be returning to this hotel and the lovely scenery in Kerry.

Review 24:My girlfriend and i stayed for about four days, we really liked the hotel but... and this is a big but....One evening , some one in reception booked another party into our room by mistake and gave them a key to our room . Imagine the shock we got when someone walked into our room and explained how she was given this room. After going to reception we were told that they would look into it and get back to us and received a very poor apology. On checking out a few days later they still had not got back to us and when pressed we were told that it was a former guest who had kept the key, an obvious attempt to evade blame. When asked what they intended to do to put things right , reception told us they would look into giving us a free stay in the future as a gesture of good will. Some weeks later i received a voucher from the manager for one night in the post...just a voucher..no apology, no acknowledgement as to what it was for. All in all a very unsavoury experience, completely unprofessional and that's not even getting into the safety and security aspect. Imagine if this happened to a single girl (one of next years roses for example ),and some unsavory character was given the key to the room ? The thing is we were really enjoying our stay up til then, it's a pity the situation wasn't handled in a more professional manner.

Review 25:Previous occupant of the room had clearly vomited next to the bed and this had not been adequately cleaned! The hotel was dirty. The bar/ restaurant staff were stressed and unhelpful and could not accommodate us for a meal, and the hotel then wanted to charge us for room service! Noisy, dirty hotel on a horrible main road outside the centre.

Review 26:The duty manager and receptionist responded professionally to our complaint about the dirty room and agreed to refund us immediately.

Review 27:Bar food. They got my order wrong so by the time I received the correct order my husband had finished his meal so we both ended up eating separately

Review 28:The room

Review 29:Having booked an evening meal at 8pm and been shown to a quiet table for two was disappointed when at 2100 a couple with three noisy children were put on the next table. We are not against children, we have four great grandchildren, but do feel that a hotel of this stature should have a seperate area allocated in the restaurant, or only allow young children until a certain time in the evening. The management were informed.

Review 30:Breakfast was freezing only helpful staff were in the bar. Had to ask reception about times food being served until for dinner and breakfast. Didn't ask how was our stay checking out. Manager at breakfast was very off. Asked our room number and showed us our seat nothing else

Review 31:Cleanliness of hotel public areas immaculate and room

Review 32:The breakfast was very poor . The orance juice it tasted like water the same the coffee . No taste . Some times when you try to save money on things like a breakfast . Is does in look good for the hotel . Don't do cut backs it's not good .

Review 33:The staff were lovely and the hotel was great .

Review 34:One of the best 4 stars hotel we have ever stayed. There was very clean rooms and very comfortable beds. Bathrooms were clean and modern. Very good location, especially when you go to Aqua Dome! Breakfast just delicious (especially scrambled eggs)! Highly recommend to every one!

Review 35:Didnt like that I had only time for a one night stay..:-)

Review 36:The Hotel was really fab..spotless and bar staff were very friendly..will definitely recommend to my friends:-)

Review 37:Requested a travel cot for a ten month old. On arrival it wasn't there. On our way for a walk we asked at reception, when we returned we found a cot with no base, mattress or sheet to lay a child on! The cot also had a broken side. Hotel was busy with the Rose of Tralee festival but obviously too busy to look after my baby also. They got the simple things wrong, not a good sign!

Review 38:Disco in the bar extremely loud and could be heard all over the hotel until 3am. I know it was the Rose of Tralee festival but did it really need to be that loud

Review 39:Staff weren't that friendly. Receptionist told me that breakfast starts from seven so i thought my room included the breakfast, then i was charged an extra 10 euros for each person because my room didn't include it.

Review 40:Good location, and a very pleasant atmosphere

Review 41:there is a multi use event venue right next to the hotel, which happen to have a very noisy boxing event tonight we checked in quite late. Although we had to move our room, the smaller room we checked into was just fine. In an ideal world the staff should've notified us up upon check in are room with the tensely be noisy which we were initially assigned to.

Review 42:The hotel is in the excellent location in the center of truly, which is close to the Dingel Peninsula and router a lot of destinations in Ireland. The facilities and room are top notch and will beyond The normal quality and character for an older bed-and-breakfast. The building is quite modern has an easy access ramp to the lobby, and a lift. The dining area and bar are very cozy and comfortable, and the staff were eager to help.. I strongly recommend this hotel for business travelers, or others who want to not show up from a normal bed-and-breakfast accommodation, and one little bit more comfort under vacation.

Review 43:Staff in the bar/restaurant were a little bit pre-occupied setting up for the roses festival the next day rather than dealing with the customers that were there the night before.

Review 44:Very grumpy receptionists! Also extremely slow! Set a bad first impression That was hard to shake off. There was that impersonal big hotel factory feel! Would not stay again unless there were no other place in Tralee, and even then I would probably travel to another town instead....

Review 45:There wasn't much to like. I suppose it was nice to have a bed for the night....

Review 46:Lovely helpful staff and a beautiful modern hotel. Short nice walk into the town centre and close to the aquadome. Really enjoyed the whole weekend in this lovely hotel.

Review 47:Receptionist quite surly. Changed our room number very quickly when she saw we had bike gear on. I asked why and she said the other room wasn't ready (4.45pm) Not convinced but we were tired and cold but we were quite happy with the room anyway.

Review 48:Nice big bedroom and underground parking which was a bonus when travelling by motorbike. The €49 meal deal is very good value.

Review 49:It was a little bit dirty, internet worked for a while and then not anymore, when I contacted the reception he said it works downstairs at reception so he cannot help me.

Review 50:Room was big enough and cosy and colors of the room was nice.

Review 51:One side of the double bed was lower than the other (I could look up to my other half) and the bed felt to be too soft as well. Sticky toffee pudding in the bar had very little toffee sauce, which is good for my lines, but not so good for the gastronomy experience :-)

Review 52:The hotel easily accessible. In walking distance to the cinema complex and Aqua Dome (good for families). The staff was kind and helpful, the room and other facilities were clean.

Review 53:No complaints

Review 54:We had awonderful stay at Fels Point Tralee, staff very friendly, food v.good, rooms clean, bed comfortable, very good value for money. We look forward to staying there again soon.

Review 55:A little Pricey!

Review 56:First time I have stayed in this hotel I had a very comfortable two days. The room and facilities excellent. The staff were extremely friendly and efficient. Restaurant / breakfast faultless Ideal for business and for leisure. I would like to come back and stay here if the opportunity arrises again.

Review 57:The room, an executive double room fell far short of what I expected based on the website. Stained toilet roll, stain on the wall between the two windows, awkward coffee making facilities, dated furnishings, no bathrobe or slippers as advertised.

Review 58:Public areas were beautiful

Review 59:being asked if i would like to pay as i signed in.....horrible....no welcome greeting from lady at reception.....bit of work needed all over hotel after nama..... breaky bit hit and miss....why cant hotels toast bread any more????? bank of household toasters would do better toast than most hotels....

Review 60:location....car park underground.....nice reception....room good....lifts fast....

Review 61:The area in the front of the hotel looks very overgrown and empty. Found out its for the dome.. just takes away from the look of the hotel

Review 62:Everything was lovely no complaints :)

Review 63:We stayed at the fels point hotel during the ROK CYCLE, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and highly recommend, great location with Aqua Dome and Omniplex within walking distance and big hit with the children

Review 64:Hotel was absolutely fabulous. Couldn't fault our room it was amazing . The bed was super comfy and facilities were amazing. Hotel staff very helpful when we couldn't work the tv :) can't wait to stay again

Review 65:Cold breakfast buffet had limited meat cuts. Wider selection of fruit would be nice. Healthy options of rye bread / wider selection of cheese / some tomatoes etc would be a nice addition to this section.

Review 66:Great location. Very clean. Would use in personal capacity if it was pet friendly (pets to stay in room not an arrangement with local kennels).

Review 67:Just a little hard to locate The bar area ?

Review 68:Staff very help full and friendly Could share a laugh directed towards the keep fit instead of dinning room very funny.

Review 69:Attention to detail with the cleaning of the bedroom left a lot to be desired. Breakfast selection could be improved.

Review 70:Location was perfect for sightseeing. Bright cheery hotel. Staff friendly and helpful.

Review 71:The spa- according to the brochure in the hotel room, access is allowed to hotel guests to use the sauna, steam room and relaxation room on Sundays until 8 p.m. On arrival at the spa, I found there was no one there. I was able to walk around the spa unsupervised. I went to the gym, again no staff there. I eventually met a member of staff from the gym who told me the sauna and steam room were turned off. This was at 7,15, prior to closing. It was very difficult to find the spa as signage while there, is not very clear. The whole area is a maze to be honest. Perhaps its easier to navigate after staying a few nights. I went again on Monday morning at around 10.15 a.m., again no one was there. I asked at reception was the spa open, I was told it was and that I could use it on my own, the impression I got was that I could just walk in and use the sauna unsupervised, which is crazy. No one would have known I was there. The room is comfortable, however a few details let it down. There are no saucers for the cups. There were toiletries for 1 person. No stopper in the sink. The tv was difficult to turn on- when I rang reception- there was no answer despite trying front desk and O. I did get through to someone at 11 after I stood at reception for a few minutes.

Review 72:The breakfast staff were welcoming and helpful

Review 73:The best thing about our stay at the Fels Point Hotel was the juxtaposition of a chic, modern hotel with a rural setting of hills, meadows, cattle, open sky and the River Lee (along which there is a river walk). Our room was huge and clean with a good-sized balcony, comfortable bed and modern bathroom. We had a late dinner in the bar. The bartender was friendly and explained why you can't get a martini in Ireland and what a waste of money it is to order cocktails (due to liquor laws that limit the amount of alcohol in a mixed drink). The location is perfect for day-tripping to Dingle, Killarney and the Ring of Kerry.

Review 74:The only issue were the public toilets by reception. Used them around 11am and they were filthy. However the room was well cleaned.

Review 75:The staff were so friendly and helpful. Some of the nicest staff I have come across. Breakfast offered a varied choice.

Review 76:During the Easter period the play area was not accesible being used for a paid activity, during the entire week!!!!!!!!. My child was not able to play, not knowing english it made no sense to participate in that paid programme.

Review 77:However, there is a serious issue with regard to Wifi access on laptops. It connects fine on an iPhone, but it was impossible to connect on my HTC and my laptop which, as a business traveller was a big problem. I contacted reception to discuss the issue, only to be told that they had received complaints before but there was nothing they could do. It appears to be a DNS issue but I was unable to troubleshoot it. The response I received seemed to reflect that this was an ongoing issue which they didn't care to resolve. You cannot claim to have free wifi across the hotel when it will not work on a laptop. Thats not good service at all, least of all in 2015. There was also an issue with the shower where the bit you pull up to switch is from bath to shower, would not stay up and so a shower was basically impossible. Again, not a good experience when the basics of a stay are not functional. Thats the reason for the 2 star review.

Review 78:On entry to the Fels Point, it looked promising, clean, modern and friendly. However it was a disappointing stay and one that I won't be repeating. Location wise, cleanliness and room size were fine. Perfectly acceptable and breakfast was good too.

Review 79:Sockets for lights on desk weren't working. Rang room service for ice and it nearly landed on the floor the bar man was in such a rush to get away and when I asked who I should ring about the lamps not working I was told he didn't know and I'd have to find someone who would know (???). Found him to be very rude and I understand the bar may have been busy or he was under stress but that doesn't excuse his demeanour or bluntness.

Review 80:Good location, lovely walks nearby

Review 81:the room was beautiful and very clean late check in was extremely handy and the location is ideal for those who do not want to go into the heart of tralee.

Review 82:€7.50 seems a little steep for room service, even if forewarned of charge beforehand. Found it difficult to find gym and a lot of info in hotel booklet (meal times, gym location etc...) says 'call reception'. Why not just put it in book? People don't want to be phoning reception repeatedly. Hotel isn't easy to find if you don't know Tralee well, could do with a signpost on main road in (perhaps there is one but I couldn't spot it)

Review 83:Fantastic staff, especially at front desk. I arrived late on a Saturday night but was advised to pay then because of queues on Sun morning which was a great tip. Receptionist also took care of bags while I ran in to bar to get in a late food order and staff there were equally lovely and helpful Well equipped gym.

Review 84:While the room was comfortable, it lacked a few basic amenities such as a hair dryer and iron. The breakfast was an absolute joke. It is hands down, the worst full Irish breakfast I have ever tasted in my life and I have stayed at many hotels. Everything tasted like it had been cooked several days previously and just microwaved as needed. The fried potato was inedible and felt like chewing on a piece of leather. Disgusting food. My boyfriend's sausages looked like wrinkled up old prunes (and tasted worse) where as my sausages were the only nice part of my breakfast, making it obvious that they ran out of the pre cooked ones and had to make some fresh for me. Absolutely shockingly bad food. Made me very angry for paying the extra money to include breakfast in the room rate. Such a shame as the hotel itself is lovely. The food lets it down big time.On a previous occasion I had lunch at this hotel when it was called the Carlton, and the food was also abysmal then. I thought under the hotel's new leadership, the food would improve but unfortunately this is not the case. On that alone, we will not be returning to this hotel ever. Not even close to a 4 star standard of cuisine.

Review 85:Staff were very friendly and helpful. Room was clean and comfortable. The hotel is nicely decorated and modern. There is a spa and gym on site. Tralee town is very nearby. The bar area is nice.

Review 86:The food in the bar -thai green curry was horrible. TV position in room all wrong.

Review 87:The convenience to the hospital where I worked. The staff are great. The bath in the room.

Review 88:Went for breakfast. As one of four couples queuing up to have breakfast, we were told unapologetically that there were no tables free and that we should wait in the lobby for about 15 minutes. There were clearly lots of tables which had not been cleaned. We left the hotel and had breakfast in the car instead. There was several items missing from the room which for a deluxe was unimpressive and a waste of money. Will not return.

Review 89:No bad experience. Only slight downside is that it's a 15 or 20 minute walk from town centre.

Review 90:Staff were welcoming and friendly. Room was large, clean and comfortable. Dinner and breakfast were excellent.

Review 91:The hotel was very busy the same weekend and staff were a little unprepared.

Review 92:We loved the hotel it was very modern and the facilities were great. Good value for money.

Review 93:i didnt like that having stayed the week before my shower would not work. on arrival this time my shower never worked either. thankfully we were moved to a room where one worked, the girl who came to check things out for us was brilliant

Review 94:we were allowed have late check out at 1pm fantastic bonus!

Review 95:I was not happy with the greeting I received from the member of staff on arrival. I did not have reception for RTE 1 on my T.V even though it was listed as a channel in the hotel's booklet and the T.V signal for the rest of the channel's was quite poor. The lighting in the room was very poor (even when the blackout blinds were opened!)

Review 96:I was quite happy that I was able to control the temperature of the bedroom. The bed was quite comfortable and the blackout blinds were an additional bonus. The complimentary use of the hotel's sauna and steam room was also good.

Review 97:We asked if the receptionist, Shona, knew which direction we should go to Galway and she printed off detailed directions which were fantastically helpful. Thanks

Review 98:The bar food wasn't great, husband couldn't eat his fish dish, one staff member serving n the bar and waiting on tables, was cold in and around the lounge n bar area!

Review 99:I'm not usually one to complain but constructive criticism is good I suppose. I was really looking forward to using the sauna and at 10.30am on a Monday it was not available to use. The lady at reception rang the leisure suite but there was no one there. The second issue was that the hot breakfast was luke warm but maybe that's just me-I like my beans and scrambled egg piping hot! Anyway all good otherwise :)

Review 100:Lovely bedrooms, nice dinner and friendly staff.

Review 101:Dinner and breakfast was rushed the second plate was empty a staff member took plate. No entertainment put on for guests as we were staying on new year eave any good hotel would have arranged this. A DJ was pulled from another ticketed event at 11.45 when guests complained.

Review 102:Food was good and 12 o clock check out.

Review 103:One of staff dident make up room and promised sham peen to make up for it but never arrived but another member made up for it as we checked out so we will be back ps don't let standees drop

Review 104:Great spot

Review 105:On the day of our departure housekeeping knocks the door at 10.30am - not what you want when you have a long drive ahead

Review 106:The staff made the hotel. They were so friendly, from reception to the restaruant to the bar - great staff and nothing was a problem.

Review 107:Poor bathroom facilities. Shower option broken on tap. Toilet didn't flush properly. Extractor fan didn't work and the room was very damp as a result...

Review 108:Friendly Staff

Review 109:No music in the bar on a bank holiday weekend. Sink in our bathroom was blocked. Shower took a few turns to get it working. Some loose tiles/etc outside the window kept us awake at night. We asked for clean shower towel twice but they never arrived. A cup of coffee on the house would have made up for the bad points but it didn't seem to matter to the reception staff!

Review 110:Efficient check in. Good sized bedrooms. Bar man was very cheerful and good to advise where to go in town.

Review 111:Could not fault this hotel.

Review 112:We had a lovely stay for one night in the Fels Hotel. The room was very plesant and very modern. We got this hotel at a great price through Booking.com

Review 113:No music on a Bank Holiday weekend

Review 114:Friendly helpful staff, good location, we brought our 3 year old grandchild with us who loves music so a bit disappointed there was no music. Stay there every year will be back

Review 115:Too many young children not being supervised by their parents.. Thankfully we had a lot of visiting to do.. So we didn't have to be in the hotel for too long.

Review 116:The hotel is very nice, lovely decor. The breakfast is amazing! We chose fels point as my mother had received gift vouchers for her 75th birthday last year. They were for the carlton as the hotel had changed hands. The hotel honoured the vouchers and that's why we stayed there.

Review 117:We had no complaints at all only sorry we could not stay longer.

Review 118:Booked this hotel in the late afternoon on the Day we were travelling. It was easy to do great value for one night for two people and didn't need a credit card. Very brisk and efficient.

Review 119:booked and paid for breakfast for the room which was not receive and was told it was the new porters fault . No compensation given.

Review 120:Lovely sized rooms very comfortable

Review 121:Delay with food order in afternoon

Review 122:Close to town and other hotels Close to countryside and town Very comfortable Quiet location where room was so easy get sleep Allowed late check out

Review 123:The breakfast was very poor The hot food was dried up and this was at 7.15am I Didn't have time to wait for a fresh breakfast as I had a meeting to attend

Review 124:There was no atmosphere whatsoever in the public areas. The bar was impersonal and we felt like we were just another number to the bar staff!! The bar food was awful except for the Fels Point Sundae which was the only saving grace. I won't be staying there again!

Review 125:The room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was very good and the staff were pleasant.

Review 126:The restaurant was absolutely freezing, the food was awful and I don't mean the menu the chef obviously is In the wrong job , I was in a training group and everyone on the group totally agreed at how terrible the food was , one of the ladies on the group at at lunch time received a sandwich which had mold on the cheese. The sound was cold, the list was endless , such a pity for a absolutely beautiful hotel that the catering side let it HIGHLY down .

Review 127:A beautiful hotel outside and in. Most of the staff were really helpful and nice.

Review 128:Nothing comes to mind

Review 129:Stayed here whilst travelling down the West Coast and then across to Cork. Lovely large hotel with easy and secure parking. I opted to upgrade to an executive room, which was excellent with bath robes, mineral water and a dish of fresh strawberries waiting for me, the room was very large and also had a nice large balcony. Very comfortable large bed and great pillows. Nice bathroom with shower and separate bath tub. Had a meal in the Bar in the evening and the Sea Food Chowder was excellent. Good friendly staff made the stay excellent. would definitely stay here again when in the area.

Review 130:Great hotel great welcome from reception, bar staff great, leaving about 11:30 the following day reception staff not friendly, but will be back again as location is brilliant as you can walk into town in five min and still feel like your in the country when you want to sleep

Review 131:If you need to wake early, set an alarm!! The black out curtains are fantastic, and I couldn't believe it wasn't the middle of the night when I woke, I almost slept it out!

Review 132:Comfortable bed and a lovely, quiet room
