Reviews for Hotel Residence Maggiore

Review 1:the underground garage is a challenge for parking but the staff took care of this

Review 2:Wonderful host, full of useful information. Idyllic small Italian village close to Cinque Terra by train

Review 3:The staff was AMAZING!!! They gave us a wonderful suggestions for how to spend a day in Cinque Terre. When we arrived, we were hungry and made us dinner reservations to one of our best meals in Italy. The location is just a couple stops from the tourist traps, and a special gem. The hotel is along the water and you can lay out on one of the chairs and relax. Be sure to catch the second to the last train so you can guarantee you don't miss it.

Review 4:Convenient location to take the train around Cinque Terre. The hotel was very clean, comfortable and the staff service was great. Gave us advice and maps with instructions to make our experience better and easier.

Review 5:Nothing !

Review 6:Everything is prefect !!!!! Best stay in Italy . I will strongly recommend to all my friends , only take one min walk to the beach , and 5 mins to the train station. All staffs are welcome and perfessional , thanks for everything !

Review 7:The staff/owners are fantastic!!! We had a great view of the sea and the pleasure of watching an old woman every day walk out and feed the birds bread as well as some unknown fish. The area takes you away from the bustle of cinque Terra. We had wonderful meals. Breakfast was absolutely wonderful with lots to offer.

Review 8:What didnt we like! This lovely town, Moneglia was outside of the over-busy 5 villages of ChinqueTerre and we were SO impressed and SO happy to have chosen this instead of any place in those 5 busy villages. What a sweet, easy to get around village this was! The BB is within easy flat walking distance of the train and right within all the great restaurants, shops and BEACH of the area. The room was large, updated bathroom with a large enough shower, great water pressure in shower and very clean. The closet space was amazing. A desk, comfortable bed and chair was part of the room. Best yet, the windows opened up (very long) and overlooked the beach.Breakfast was delightful, delicious and plentiful. Breakfast room overlooked ocean and all windows opened up for a lovely breeze. Staff was extremely helpful- printed out our train passes, gave us maps and hints to get around . So nice!

Review 9:Walls very thin can hear people in other rooms. Beds like concrete and pillows the same. Coffee tea facilities would have been nice.

Review 10:We only stayed for one night and the weather was terrible. Cold windy and wet. The service from the moment till the end was awesome can't fault it. Very welcoming and happy to help.great balcony but terrible weather so couldn't use it. Very close to train station so easy access to the Cinque Terre towns.

Review 11:Very much liked the owners and the city. City is not touristic but very close to all cities you would like to visit. Owners are helpful in every aspect

Review 12:-wi-fi was very bad, -no soundproof between rooms that we can hear all the noises, even talks from other rooms

Review 13:+Location is very good, between cinque terre and portofino, close to train station +room, bed linens and towels are very clean +helpful hotel owner and staff +breakfast

Review 14:We loved the view and the location (at the sea, in nice little city, close to train station from where you can easily go to Cinque Terre or Santa Margherita Ligure or Genova) and the staff is very friendly and helpful. There is great atmosphere in the hotel.

Review 15:Location is perfect, just in front of the beach, the view from the terrace; breakfast. The owners were very kind and helped us with the parking and infromation about the area. Wifi works very good.

Review 16:This Inn is well located, offering personalized, exceptionally good and friendly service. The family also owns a beachfront restaurant located a few hundred meters from the Inn. It offers an excellent menu, the food is refined and the service is fantastic. They are must go places when in Moneglia.

Review 17:Wifi could be better.

Review 18:We love our room with sea view, staff was very friendly and helpful. Lovely place to say, close to the beach and train station. Strongly recommended. :)

Review 19:Very noisy location eventhough the windows are sound proof. Toilet is really tiny I had trouble raising my arms to wash my hair.

Review 20:Management is outstandingly cooperative and friendly. Right on the beach both free and for fee. Close to train station.

Review 21:nothing

Review 22:very, very ... very close to the beach, althought... it's located on the other side of the road - which has to be passed under the tunel - it's not a problem at all. perfect seaview form the room (if you have that one - worth to pay a bit more - especially the morning view - unforgetable :-))) the owner - very helpful and kind - open for any questions and request lovely location if you want to see the Cinque Terre if you travel by medium or bigger car - ask the owner about possibility to park outside, very thight under floor parking - especially the entance

Review 23:Minor issue was the noise from the road right outside. This was only during the day (and we were out on the beach most of the time anyway). Nighttime we were so tired we didn't notice it.

Review 24:Excellent staff. Fantastic view over the sea. Lovely town within short walk away. Many restaurants and bars. Breakfasts were extensive in the lovely breakfast room with superb views.

Review 25:The entrance to the garage will give you goosebumps ;)

Review 26:It was very pleasurable stay in this Hotel. The location is perfect, so close to the local beach. Our room had a perfect view of the sea. Ideal place to visit Cinque Terre as the the train station is just in walking distance.

Review 27:I was really impressed by the perfect service of the hotel especially from the side of reception where s. Antonio did all the best to make my holiday comfortable ,for instance, the information about surrounding places of interests, the best beaches, equipment for them.I am really gratefull this person for his kind support.Certainly, the charm of the Moneglia itself influences positive opinion

Review 28:The family that manage the Hotel are very kind. I was impressive by their attention and kindness to supporting us during our stay. I recommend this place for turistis that wants to visit 'Les Cinque Terres'.

Review 29:The hotel was in a great location close to the beach and not far to walk to and from the train station. Moneglia itself is also close enough to the cinque Terre to be able to get there easily. The staff were very helpful and friendly and on the day I left it was raining so they drove me to the train station. The staff service was great!

Review 30:The rooms' furniture seemed quite old. But it didn't make our stay worse, still love it and would return more and more.

Review 31:Would highly recommend this lovely place. We specially liked the owners who were very attentive and helpful.

Review 32:Parking in the area is VERY tricky but this is not the fault of the hotel.

Review 33:Excellent all rounder, fabulous management, absolutely ideal for sampling the Cinque Terre while being based outside of the busy tourist area.

Review 34:No fridge in the room. Air condition went off if door was opened.

Review 35:Lovely welcome. We were given beach towels without asking, and were told of all local ammenities.

Review 36:nothing...they were great!

Review 37:Hotel is family run, dad and daughter are excellent. Cousin was so helpful to us. Breakfast was beyond awesome, fresh squeezed orange juice from a great do it yourself machine! Spectacular views from our rooms balcony.

Review 38:Lack of air conditioning. July is a very hot month in this area, and it is not cool during the night. Wi-fi was a little bit erratic at my room

Review 39:Staff very friendly. I arrived at 9am and my room was not ready yet. Since I was leaving very early on my check-out day and wouldn't be able to have breakfast, they offered me to compensate this with having breakfast at my arrival while waiting for the room to be ready. I liked the attitude. The hotel was right across the Mediterranean Sea. Awesome view and nice beach. Just a 5-min walk to the train station.

Review 40:The noise from being close to the road was annoying however it was not a major and completely beyond the control of the hotel.

Review 41:The spacious hotel and extremely friendly staff.

Review 42:He staff were fabulous, we've been travelling for nearly 3 months and this was the best service so far. Breakfast was delicious. Best free breakfast so far aswell! Real scrabbled eggs! Location was perfect for visiting cinque Terre and moneglia itself was a beautiful spot for a holiday.

Review 43:Nothing

Review 44:The breakfast is excellent! I can say that this is the best breakfast I've ever had! The location is good as well, 3 minutes from the sea, and could enjoy the sea view in the balcony. The owner of the hotel is an artist, he makes many beautiful and creative stuff by himself. My friends and I love this hotel so much. Highly recommend!

Review 45:Very friendly staff and atmosphere; rooms overlooking beach and the main road near tunnel entrance but very little traffic noise at night so not a problem.

Review 46:no issues what so ever

Review 47:Staff and owners very friendly, welcoming, accommodating (we arrived very late), accommodation spotless, close location to beach, town restaurants and station just perfect all excellent value.

Review 48:Hotel is located by the sea, nearest beach was across the road. Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful providing advise about local attractions and directions.

Review 49:Easy walk to rail station, restaurants, beautiful views of beach and water. Immaculately clean, very good breakfast including freshly squeezed juice.Staff all friendly and helpful. Missed a coffee maker in room and extra pillows. Hair dryer not very powerful. Nice shower with curved glass doors.

Review 50:restaurant not open for dinner during our stay

Review 51:Convenient for local facilities and sights, and ideal for access to Cinque Terres and Portofino. Good on-site parking and excellent local transport.

Review 52:Moneglia is an amazing town and staying at this hotel made the experience perfect! Mr.Antonio and his wife are wonderful, caring and nice people that will help you in anything you need!

Review 53:Great location as a springboard to Cinque Terre. Wonderful hotel, right on the beach within a short walk of all sights of the town. The staff was super helpful, great English, brilliant dinner recommendations. Best place to stay if you want to see Cinque Terre and then get some R&R on the beach. Spacious rooms, spotlessly clean. Hands down the best place we stayed at, during our 3 week trip throughout Europe.

Review 54:The mattress was rather uncomfortable .

Review 55:Great location, worth spending the extra for a sea view. Friendly staff always available for any needs. Child friendly, my 2 year old loved it. Great base for visiting the Cinque Terre.

Review 56:Very friendly staff (family owned hotel); the rooms are slightly old but very clean and charming. Very close to the beach. Cars and motorcycles can be parked in the hotel garage for free. Great breakfast buffet. Very close to shops and restaurants.

Review 57:The hotel was the perfect location! It was a short walk to the train station to catch the trains to Cinque Terre. The staff was very friendly, spoke English, and were able to help us figure out the times for the trains and ferry boats. We couldn't have asked for a better situation!

Review 58:Excellent location, only 3 minutes walk from the train station, if you're traveling Cinque Terre, it's really convenient. Everything in this little hotel is comfortable, my room faced the sea, literally by the sea with excellent view. The canteen has a panoramic view of the sea, having breakfast in it feels good.

Review 59:Garage was tough to get into, and I didn't like having no access to the garage between 11pm and 8am to get into my car, but not a big deal.

Review 60:Owners were very helpful in telling us about good restaurants and hiking trails around Moneglia. Good breakfast, great location to town and train station. Great view from our room.

Review 61:Beds, like all Italian beds we have found are too hard, floor tiles need replacing, shower way too small , toilet space very tight, as is the bathroom in general but we managed!

Review 62:Location is great, can train easily to Cinqueterre and Portofino areas, restaurants in Moneglia are great, fabulous food. Breakfasts at hotel best we have had yet.

Review 63:Proximity to busy road.- My husband is a light sleeper, but maybe if we moved to a back room it would have been quieter

Review 64:Staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was lovely. Location great for the beaches

Review 65:The proximity to the road, but then we sleep with ear plugs anyway and so it didn't disturb us but might others.

Review 66:very helpful owner, his family and staff. Despite arrving early room was quickly made available and coffee was offered whilt we waited. Breakfast was more than adequate. We enjoyed our two nights there.

Review 67:I found the service excellent, they went out of their way to make me feel comfortable. Great knowledge of the area and tourist facilities. No private beach, but the public beach was 5 minutes away. They even offered to do my ironing. Thanks to all staff.

Review 68:The hotel owners and staff. The room. The view. The homely comfort of the hotel. The breakfast. The owners tour guidance. We just loved everything about the hotel and town. Very relaxing place to stay and better than La Spezia as a Cinque Terre exploration base.

Review 69:Just a little bit far from cinque Terre tourist attraction, take some time & cost by train. But it's worth staying here cos u will be treated so well.

Review 70:Wonderful staffs, so generous & caring. Good location close to the beach & train station. Great ocean view. Big comfortable room & useful furnitures.

Review 71:Nothing.

Review 72:We chose this hotel to stay for a couple of nights on the way to Tuscanybut were so delighted by this hotel that decided to come back after ajourney to have more nights at the seaside. The hotel is really great:- Beach is just 2 min away, the restaurants of wide choice are also near, the hotel is easy accessible from the road which is important for travelers with cars - Hotel staff was really nice to us. Antonio and his daughter were very helpful, special thanks to them. - There is an underground parking which is a huge plus - the rooms are good and clean. We stayed at the 4th floor which has a wonderful big terrace with a sea and mountain view, so you can sit there with a bottle of nice wine and enjoy your time:) Thanks to Hotel Residence Maggiore for a warm and pleasant stay!

Review 73:Great comfy memory foam mattress. Good selection of food forbreakfast. Free wifi (Although it dropped out on top floor in thebedrooms). Whole place was very clean. Great location and view. Helpstaff especially Antonio.

Review 74:Nothing!

Review 75:A couple of minutes from the sea Close to restaurants and shops Amazing staff - can't do enough for you Great breakfast Good rooms, comfortable, free wifi, very clean

Review 76:The service mind of staffs and owner here is exceptional. People, location, services, are perfect for me and my friends. Pls come to stay with them, it likes you stay with your close friend.

Review 77:The staff were perfect - kind, attentive, and helpful. The hotel is nicely located; it is close to everything and still very quiet and peaceful. The view from the breakfast area was amazing, especially in a storm. Plentiful breakfast, good coffee, excellent oranges & pastry. The floor in the room was tiled - a great idea for summer, though I am not sure it will work equally great in colder seasons. Air conditioner had a dehumidifier option, which is a big plus in my book.

Review 78:Wifi is slow, but this appears to be the norms for the hotels in Italy.

Review 79:The owner took his time to plan out the hike, train, and boat connections in the Cinque Terre for us. We had another family joining us from another town and he let the family park in the garage free. I insisted on paying the parking fee but he would not accept. I invited him to come visit us if he ever travels to the Puget Sound area. The included breakfast buffet was great.

Review 80:Some noise from street.

Review 81:So nice and warm staff and I had every morning wonderful breakfast with fresh bakery & food. Great location for family and so calm to stay. Best and excellent hotel ever!!!

Review 82:Unfortunately, there is main road in front of the hotel. It is necessary to close windows for better sleep.

Review 83:Nice staff - location close to beach and to centre

Review 84:The owners and staff are very friendly people. It is a nice cute hotel with a superb location. Only 5 minutes of walk away from the train station. If we ever visit Cinque Terre or Moneglia again, Hotel Maggiore will be definitely where we stay.

Review 85:There was nothing to dislike.

Review 86:The owner, Antonio, couldn't be more helpful and welcoming. Location on beach was fantastic, and it is very convenient to all local attractions (great train service to Cinque Terra).

Review 87:Actually there isn't any

Review 88:Location Service Cleanliness Stuff Feeling comfortable as in my home I was treated very nice Definetely value for Money

Review 89:The staff here were the best we had whilst traveling so so helpful with everything. The breakfast was amazing! And the staff recommended a resturant for dinner that was beautiful. The wifi worked in our room and we had a lovely view of the beach. The hotel owner even drove our luggage up the hill to the train station for us. Would definitely stay here again! Thank you

Review 90:The Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The location of the hotel is excellent, close to main shopping, restaurants and beautiful beaches. Nice breakfast with good variety. Definitely will come here again.

Review 91:There is one drawback. The traffic waiting to take their turn through the one way tunnel was quite loud as that main little drag is right smack between the hotel and the beach. So was loud at times and go figure the trash truck came every single day and promptly at 7:00 a.m. ......the trade off for the view was worth it to me.....Bring binoculars and you can see a lot of ships and fishing boats out on the horizon....I was hoping to see dolphins but nada....or you could take a room to the back side which I am sure would be a little more quiet.....

Review 92:The view from our top floor room was directly looking over the water. Absolutely gorgeous. Wish I had made reservations sooner and would have been able to get a balcony. Wi Fi in the room was very fast and never had trouble connecting. The owner and his daughter were always so friendly and helpful with restaurant reservations and tips on visiting Cinque Terra and taking the Ferry to Portofino....after visiting all five villages of Cinque Terra, I was so pleased that a friend had recommended staying in Moneglia and taking the train which was a super short walk from the hotel and very cheap as well and only maybe a 30 min. ride. The hotel even supplied beach towels for us and we paid only 5 euros a day for parking in their underground garage. Moneglia is a sweet little town, not nearly as crazy as the tourists in the Cinque Terra and by far has the best beach of all. Hated to leave! Breakfast was nice. Very attentive to any of your needs.....fresh orange juice machine....Italian pastries and goodies....scrambled eggs and ham, assorted cold meats and cheeses and fruits and yogurt....very nice. Do not miss Portofino ..... I wouldn't stay there if you want the beach though.

Review 93:Was not there long enough!

Review 94:The phrase location, location, location is only part of what made for a fantastic experience! After a LONG day of driving we were warmly welcomed by Michela who made sure we had everything we would want or need. A family owned and operated establishment, it is perfectly run from the emmaculate rooms, the beautiful flora, to the amazing breakfast boasting local meats, cheese, eggs, fresh fruit and freshly squeezed oj! Antonio(Papa) is on hand to share his knowledge of Moneglia and neighboring Cinque Terra and help in navigating the territory. Bellisima!!!

Review 95:We stayed a week in the appartment and not one time our bedlinnen or towels were changed. They never cleaned it during our stay, and we brought the garbage to the reception ourself and had to ask for new bags. We were confused, maybe we should have asked for cleaning, which we didn't. But it was never mentioned that we had to ask for it.

Review 96:Very friendly staff, close to the beach in a nice village.

Review 97:Staff and the view

Review 98:Noise from highwaybwas annoying. The fans were old, irritating , & annoying.

Review 99:Locstion across from sea & proximity to town center

Review 100:Family run, kind service.

Review 101:friendly staff. great location.

Review 102:Very friendly staff.

Review 103:The friendly helpful staff and the clise position to the beach

Review 104:Loutish chambermaid

Review 105:Several meters near the sea, private parking, good view from rooms.

Review 106:The bed and pillow was to hard

Review 107:Breakfast was very good

Review 108:Great family that runs the hotel. Great location at the lovely beach. Station is very close and connects you easily to Cinque Terre.

Review 109:Very nice hotel!!!!! A little story: we have lost a watch in the hotel, and they post us to Riga ! is very thanks !

Review 110:no late checkin possible. old futniture. overpriced.

Review 111:good position close to the beach

Review 112:no refrigerator

Review 113:great location, friendly staff, good breakfast in comparison with what is served usually in Italy; simple decoration but very nice!

Review 114:1 minute away to the beach, clean room, nice view, very attentive and helpful staff
