Reviews for Marianna
Review 1:Wonderful experience at Marianna. The owners were delightful and helpful, and the location could not have been more beautiful. Our room had a wonderful view of the shoreline in Nafplion and the hotel had a pretty rooftop with its own great view. I would 100% recommend to anyone looking to travel to Nafplion.
Review 2:There is nothing I did not like.
Review 3:Beautiful location and view. Friendly proprietors. Love the layout for breakfast. Comfortable bed and pretty bedroom.
Review 4:Friendly and helpful brothers who run the hotel. Room had a great view of the old town, harbor, and Palamidi Fortress. Surprisingly great parking for an old town location.
Review 5:The bells were a bit much at times.
Review 6:The breakfast on the terrace and the view were both fantastic. It was a generally quiet spot away from the bustle of the tourist streets, but very close all the same.
Review 7:too many stairs!! Not so good for the luggage and the pushchairs!
Review 8:very friendly stuff, they even helped us with the pushchair up the stairs, nice breakfast, great location
Review 9:Hard to find. Sign too small and none on route to hotel. No way to reach hotel without going up or down many stairs.
Review 10:Owners very helpful even with luggage.
Review 11:Very small room. A bit old... There were no snacks available during the day in the cafe of the hotel. The breaksfast was very poor. Parking can be a bit tricky, and be preapred to be walking a lot of steps to reach the hotel.
Review 12:Excellent view from the roof bar. Good location, close to many shops and bars/restaurants.
Review 13:We didn't mind this, but do be prepared to walk up several flights of stairs, and parking can be a challenge.
Review 14:Our hosts were so friendly and helpful, and we loved the view out over Nafplio. Outstanding breakfast.
Review 15:Parking is a little tricky, but that's just the nature of the way the town is built. Breakfast was satisfactory but that's been our experience throughout Greece. Mostly processed meats, boiled eggs and breads. The yogurt never disappoints though!
Review 16:Great location with amazing views from the breakfast room. Our room for three didn't have a great view, but it was very comfortable and spacious. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Review 17:The staff were very friendly, we had a lovely stay. The view from our room was stunning! Pension Marianna's location is fantastic to discover Nafplio. We forgot a small bag, which the staff found quickly and kindly kept for us until we could pick it up.
Review 18:Parking is hard to find and dragging luggage up or down the stairs can be difficult. Shower is too small in the room we had. Breakfast in many Greek hotels is weak but this was one of the weaker breakfasts that we have experienced. The GPS will only take you to the nearby parking space but finding the hotel and hotel faded signs can be difficult.
Review 19:Well maintained property with very nice balcony and excellent views. Excellent WiFi at over 3mbs speed. Easy access to the old town and the Castle. Great location with lots of restaurants and shops nearby. Very well cleaned rooms. Very quiet and very comfortable rooms.
Review 20:We had a wonderful stay here - beautiful view overlooking Napflio, cozy room, and best of all the very friendly staff. This was our first stop in Greece, and we couldn't get enough of the delicious breakfast every morning!
Review 21:Nothing
Review 22:Just a wonderful stay, a wonderful experience and we want to come back in the near future. Room was really nice with a beautiful view, and breakfast were really pleasant on the terrace. The owners are amazing and really helpful. This was probably the best hotel experience we had for a long time.
Review 23:nothing, everything was perfect. / rien tout était parfait.
Review 24:everything: good location, staff very welcoming, friendly and helpful. nice breakfast, very quiet... / tout: bon endroit, facile de se garer, le personnel est très accueillant, disponible et chaleureux.
Review 25:Lots and lots of stairs. Unfortunately would not be considered an "accessible" hotel. No matter where you entered from, there are stairs both to and within the hotel.
Review 26:I stayed in one of the "stone wall rooms" which live up to the photos. The brothers who run this hotel are fantastic and really focus on customer service. When I first arrived one of them took the time to research which pharmacy was open that day and even offered to take me there. When I left they insisted on changing my reservation to a single (although I stayed in a double room) because they refused to charge me for the cost of a double room when it was just me. Within a week of my return I recommended this hotel to others that are traveling to Greece.
Review 27:Our 3 brother hosts were charm and smiling hospitality at all times. They were unbelievably generous and welcoming. Maraianna is high up above Nafplio and the views are superb. We would recommend this delightful place to all our friends.
Review 28:I loved everything about this hotel.
Review 29:The room was beautiful and we had a great view of the harbor. The hotel is cared for- the owner is very proud and should be. The bed was very comfortable. The location was great- easy access to fine restaurants and shopping. The breakfast was good.
Review 30:No negatives for this one! Our stay was perfect :)
Review 31:We absolutely loved our stay here - the staff was super nice, breakfast on the roof was amazing, the rooms were clean and comfortable...our favorite hotel of the trip!
Review 32:Upon arrival, there was a dead worm on the bathroom floor. Carpets on the floors didn't make me wanna take my shoes off (dirty). 2nd bedroom was really tiny, just enough room for the 2 twin beds and nothing else.
Review 33:Good breakfast. Nice staff. Not too far from city center by foot. Heating worked just like it should have. Not too expensive for an apartment with 2 separate rooms that fit our family of 5, but too small to stay for more than 1 night. Attractive courtyard.
Review 34:Beautifully decorated rooms, traditional style. Excellent location in Nafplio and beautiful sea view from the lovely shared terrace. Marvellous owners who care a lot about their guests. This is a little charme hotel with lots of character. Would recommend it to anyone.
Review 35:had gotten quote based on room with out breakfast, but was greeted on first day by owner saying "Breakfast is served upstairs" so we thought it was included; surprised that our daily rate was fair amount higher when we checked out. would have preferred to go out in Nafplio one morning, but assumed it was part of our room charge so stayed in
Review 36:very interesting, unique lodging next to ancient castle. felt like what the ancient Greeks in nearby Mycenae must have felt like, as we stayed in the "castle room" with rhe stone wall all around us in the cozy bedrrom
Review 37:The wifi signal was not always very powerful.
Review 38:We had a great two days in Nafplio, it is a very romantic spot, and our stay at Marianna was perfect! Three very sweet brothers manage the place, and they are of great help if you need advice for restaurants and places to visit. The room was charming, clean and comfortable, with its own private entrance which keeps each person's privacy! We had breakfast on the roof terrace, with a lovely view on the town and the sea! It was perfect, we highly recommend it!
Review 39:Nothing.
Review 40:We liked everything about this hotel: its location, the view across the bay from our bedroom window, the generous breakfasts eaten on the sunny terrace, the courteous and friendly staff, the total lack of pretentiousness, and so much more. Perhaps above all it was the hotel's atmosphere and charm that made it so difficult to leave. One of the best hotels we've ever stayed in.
Review 41:The brothers were very helpful with parking in the fort above the pension. They took an interest in our trip plans with suggestions for an interesting side trip from Mycennae. Interesting history of the family running the pension and the stone bedroom we had which was part of the nearby church years ago. The breakfast buffet was plentiful and attractively presented. The town was charming.
Review 42:The number of steps to breakfast is exhausting, but the view when you get there is worth it.
Review 43:The rooms are very imaginatively designed , elegant and comfortable. Breakfast nice. Owners extremely helpful
Review 44:Our room was right below the breakfast and office so we heard all the chairs and noise starting at 7 am, so next time will request different room. The shower is very nice but way too small. Everything else was great!
Review 45:The hospitality was out of this world. Beds were comfortable and room was clean.
Review 46:The location is awesome in regards to the market square but parking and having to walk a ways with our luggage was unexpected but not to awful.
Review 47:I loved the staff, cleanliness and comfort.
Review 48:Our room at the top was spacious with a great view, but some other rooms were a little dark with limited outlook
Review 49:The double beds are I huge and very comfortable
Review 50:It's a bit hard to locate once you're in Nafplio, but you'll soon figure it out. Fair amount of steps to climb from the town back to the hotel each trip you make, but the walk is so interesting you won't mind.
Review 51:This hotel has a beautiful setting, old world charm, the friendliest and most helpful hosts you will find, and is a great place from which to explore both Nafplio and the Peloponnese. Being right next to the Palamidi fortress offers a great view and a fun but challenging walk up the 999 steps to the fortress.
Review 52:Nothing!
Review 53:After reading wonderful reviews about this pension, we were thrilled that it was as good as it had been reviewed. The view, our room, staff and breakfast were exceptional and such a comfortable bed! Couldn't ask for more!
Review 54:The room was smaller than we had hoped, the bed a bit stiff and hard, the shower was plastic and too tiny for a large person to turn in. We had expected a more beautiful view from our room. It was more of a "basic" accommodation than we had expected or hoped for. But the good things made up for the disappointments, and we had a lovely stay.
Review 55:So charming a place for a Greek village vacation! After settling in and adjusting to the small and somewhat spare room we loved the whole place, and especially the wonderful hosts, the bright colors of the building and decor, the terrace views, and delicious homemade breakfasts. Also the charm of its location on the hillside above the village.
Review 56:Finding the hotel was fairly challenging when arriving after dark. However, the view from our room more than made up for this. Also, I was hit with an extra €20 charge for my wife. I booked a "double" room but they said my booking price only covered one person. This appears to be standard practice in Greece so I blame this on Booking.com not being clear with the room price and terms on its website. The final price was still reasonable; I just hate being hit with unexpected charges.
Review 57:The three brothers that run the hotel are very friendly and welcoming. Rick Steves was right in recommending this hotel.
Review 58:Marianna is a great place to stay. The owners are welcoming, friendly and helpful. It is a very pretty place nicely located at the top of the town. The rooms are fresh and very nicely decorated and we had great views. The breakfast was generous and delicious
Review 59:nothing, it was perfect!
Review 60:Pension Marianna sits above the beautiful town of Nafplio, with a bird's eye view of all. It is an easy walk down the winding stairs to arrive at the center of town. The Pension is run with expert care, nothing left amiss. Our room was beautiful, loved looking out the window to the town below. Air-conditioning was a gift in the late summer heat. Breakfast was an intimate experience on the outdoor terrace with more than enough to last till dinner that night. Our hosts were most helpful in assisting us with suggestions for places to dine as well as side trips not to be missed. Pension Marianna has lived up to all the hype and then much more. It is an incredible value, luxury at budgeted prices.
Review 61:a little hard to find hotel by the internet directions
Review 62:The owners and their sons were wonderful! so helpful,friendly,effi-cient and it made the experience even better!
Review 63:I just wish that the cats won't go inside our room every time we open our door, they go straight to our bed and sleep. I have a bad phobia with cats.:(
Review 64:The view was phenomenal from the breakfast area. The food Is simple but fresh and the staff are the best!
Review 65:Derelict concrete shell of hotel prominant on ridge about spoilt the view behind the hotel
Review 66:Old buildings beautifully converted into a hotel Great views Easy access to old town Friendly very helpful staff Great breakfast Home made lemonade
Review 67:We absolutely enjoyed everything, but if you can't handle stairs or are looking for a typical US hotel with swimming pool, bar, etc., this place is not for you.
Review 68:The gentlemen staff/owners (brothers) were superb hosts. One of them walked with us 6 blocks to fetch our car when we checked in as we had gotten lost in the beautiful town. We didn't even had to ask. They were just as helpful the rest of our stay. The hotel location couldn't be better as it sits atop the town from which you enjoy a wonderful view of the port, the surrounding mountains and the village. It's literally next to a castle, a block away from a stunning beach on a cliff and across the road from another huge castle. The rooms are arranged in layers down the steep hill where the hotel is located which just goes perfect with the town character and feel. You feel like you actually are part of the town for a few days. Our room was like a castle chamber with its rock walls and floor but it had all the modern conveniences and the bed was sumptuous. The value for money could not be better.
Review 69:The budget rooms are small and have extremely small showers (but have nice balcony). Some other rooms have limited light (only small roof window). The breakfast offers limited choice and low quality products for non-sweet items. Bad wifi connection. Parking may be difficult.
Review 70:Lovely family-run hotel, great view on the town and sea from the hotel terrace, nice balcony for some rooms, excellent service, perfect location under the walls of the old city, very quiet although close to Nafplio centre
Review 71:WiFi difficult in the room but fine in public areas
Review 72:Great stay. The three brothers are all welcoming and happy to help. The room we stayed in was comfortable and fun with the brick and stone walls. The climb to the rooms and the office and breakfast area is great exercise. The first morning we were there everyone in the entire hotel decided to breakfast at the same time. The brothers handled it with grace and humor. Highly recommend.
Review 73:Wish they had informed us were to park(park above the hotel very easy). We arrived parked on the narrow street couldn't find the hotel, walked up and down streets that turned onto steps. Not a great start! No safe in the room. Bad coffee.
Review 74:Very tasteful rooms. Excellent view. Very clean. Very hospitable staff. Charming place!
Review 75:Our hosts were extremely friendly and welcoming on arrival and throughout our stay. Our room was beautifully decorated in a traditional style but also with a touch of class. We had a wonderful view from our window. The air con and wi fi were both efficient. Breakfast was very extensive and of good quality. Everything was well cared for and very clean.
Review 76:nothing really! perhaps not the cheapest place to stay, but it was a real treat. a suggestion: it would be good to have some washing and drying facilities for guests to wash and hang up wet bathing gear after swimming or wash a few items.
Review 77:We stayed in a 'traditional room' which is accessed from a leafy courtyard and feels like a small apartment, not a hotel. The views from the terrace at the top of the guest house complex is fantastic and enhances the breakfast experience of a nice choice of home-baked pastry, yoghurt, olives, home-made marmalades, fresh lemon juice and more. The 'Zoho brothers' are very friendly and ready to help. They made us feel very welcome.
Review 78:Using wifi in the room is impossible because of the stone wall but wifi works fine in the courtyard.
Review 79:The facility is spectacular and the staffs are wonderful. We parked our car in parking lot on the hill, by the fort which we found pretty convenient.
Review 80:This hotel is great! Without too much and without being very fancy, for me it is the best accomodation in Nafplion. It is always very clean and comfortable, the staff is great and the breakfast on the terrace is amazing! Also the view and the free parking adds great value to the hotel. Definitelly my number one choice in Nafplion
Review 81:Excellent location, excellent owners, very attentive.
Review 82:Perfect place to relax, spend a few days away from the urban bustle
Review 83:No bad experience.
Review 84:Breakfast, hospitality were great. Room was well decorated. Great view. Convenient location.
Review 85:Great location, helpful staff, overall lovely place to stay.
Review 86:Great location, with a view to the sea and the castle. Good breakfast and helpful staff.
Review 87:Freindly staff and lovely views!
Review 88:Parking was tricky.
Review 89:One of the best places we've ever stayed. Hosts were fantastic and the view was unbelievable.
Review 90:The cave room was really neat to stay in. Some rooms had great views of the town. The patio breakfast had a great view and everything was close by.
Review 91:Well located, family run business. Staff extremely helpful and caring to all clients.
Review 92:An excellent place to stay in Nafplio with hosts who are truly welcoming.
Review 93:Friendly, clean. Great location overlooking city. A little hard to find - but worth the look.
Review 94:Location and the view.
Review 95:That I couldn't stay forever.
Review 96:Location, the hosts, the breakfast, The beautiful historic town of Nafplio
Review 97:Views over Nafplio and a delicious breakfast.
Review 98:Staff are incredibly friendly and went out of their way to accommodate us. Location is great and the room was comfortable. I would book here again.
Review 99:Owners are friendly and generous. Home grown oranges are delicious and free to guests. View of the harbor and mountains is spectacular!
Review 100:location, breakfast, helpful hosts
Review 101:Great location. Excellent breakfast. Friendly attentive staff. Very good value.
Review 102:Some may find the steps challenging Shower compartment a little small
Review 103:Cleanliness Views Breakfast Helpful and friendly staff
Review 104:The friendly helpful staff were so welcoming. Facilities were absolutely clean and beautiful.
Review 105:Location, very helpful staff, very clean.
Review 106:Slog from carpark to hotel - not user friendly if you have luggage
Review 107:Location and view Excellent breakfast Very friendly and helpful staff
Review 108:This hotel was very charming and the staff was friendly and extremely helpful.
Review 109:directios to hotel not quite clear enough
Review 110:Great location fabulous views friendly and helpful staff lovely room great town.
Review 111:Everything. Great location with awesome views. Room was comfortable with great character.
Review 112:nothing to report
Review 113:Location, clean room, excellent staff, really helpful and professional
Review 114:The warm brothers that run the hotel make you feel at home immediately. The treat you as friends not as tourists. Highly recommended for your stay in Nafplio.
Review 115:Because of the location getting luggage to and from the hotel room is not easy, and parking nearby is not normally possible. But we had a great time and would highly recommend the Marianna!
Review 116:It is a family business, and they go out of their way to make your stay pleasant. A wonderful view of a picture perfect town loaded with history. Delightful!!!!
Review 117:There was nothing at the hotel that we didn't like. If you are going, try to find restaurants ahead of time. It's a place for tourists so there's a lot of bad food at the restaurants in the area.
Review 118:The location was amazing. We were at the top of the hill so the views were great and it was a quick walk down the steps to be near all the shops and restaurants immediately. We initially parked at the bottom and walked up all the steps to check in but you can actually park up at the palace and walk almost straight down into the hotel. The room was really comfortable and it would have been great to have a few more days here. It would have actually been a bit cheaper if we had called or sent an email to book the rooms directly - so we'll be sure to do that next time.
Review 119:Wi-fi was non existant in room. Had limited connection on patio. Parking was not too easy to find.
Review 120:Overall location was excellent. Close to the town on one side and the beach on the other. Very friendly and helpful staff. Good breakfast selection. Very clean rooms and comfortable.
