Reviews for The Gateway Lodge
Review 1:Breakfast. Not the full irish.
Review 2:Motel type accommodation with carpark. Biggest bed I've ever seen. 2minutes walk to donegal town centre. Lovely staff. Yes I will be back.
Review 3:The location was perfect - just around the corner, literally, from the town centre, so quiet but very convenient. The owners were wonderful, we arrived very late with a sleeping toddler and they made every as easy for us as possible.
Review 4:Noisy group returning in middle of night. Was only fault, security guard may prevent this. Or a written warning on information folder in room of cctv cameras stating its family friendly.
Review 5:Clean and new, walking distance to town
Review 6:I could only stay one night
Review 7:Rooms were way beyond what I expected from the price. First class, giant comfy beds and beautiful bathroom. The staff were extremely friendly and happy to help. I would highly recommend this for anyone staying in the area.
Review 8:Staff were friendly and helpful and the location is ideal for a stay in Donegal Town with only a short walk to the centre and plentiful off-street parking
Review 9:The room was clean and spacious, the beds were comfortable and the water temperature/pressure was excellent. The front desk guy was very nice and recommended a place nearby for dinner and music. Loved this hotel.
Review 10:Difficult to find due to booking.com inflexibility of listing correct address.
Review 11:A very friendly welcome. Room was spacious and tastefully decorated. Easy 2 minute walk to town.
Review 12:Breakfast not included :(
Review 13:Location: 5 min walk to center. Very clean. Beds are huge (like 1,80m or so). Very comfortable. There's extra pillows. There are towels and soap provided. Very quiet and warm.
Review 14:The wifi wasn't great...kept dropping out which was unfortunate as we were trying to keep in touch with family back in Australia. The staff were very good about it though and I believe they were getting it fixed
Review 15:The room was very clean and spacious and the staff were very helpful.
Review 16:Nothing everything was great
Review 17:I think the girls name on reception was rosie lovely person couldn't do enough to help the service she gave me was above and beyond thankyou
Review 18:No Comment Needed No Issues
Review 19:The Hospitality The Staff are 100 per cent excellent. They treated me and my Son Like Family They went out to help me they couldn't be nicer
Review 20:I would have liked something more than a continental breakfast.
Review 21:A beautiful, relatively new facility. Couldn't be in a better location for a leisurely stroll into town.
Review 22:Slightly sparse furnishings, two comfortable chairs would be a huge improvement. Strange that the room was not serviced during our stay.
Review 23:Good position easy walk to town, very comfortable bed. Large room and good bathroom. Would stay agian
Review 24:Of 3 weeks of B&B stays in Ireland, all but this one, which was by far the worst, were very good or excellent. If a place looks like a motel, feels like a motel and operates like a motel then it is a motel, not a B&B. The tone is set by being asked to pay up front before keys were handed over. Breakfast was pitiful - the only place where we had orange squash rather than juice and no cooked option. Room was austere - no pictures.
Review 25:The room was clean, modern with a very good bathroom. Everything worked.
Review 26:Great once we arrived. Friendly staff. Hard to find though address and gps coordinates led us to another location at the end of dead end road two blocks from the hotel. The staff did redirect us after a phone call.
Review 27:Only one thing we stayed in the apartment and it was perfect but in the evening time it was so noise and difficult to sleep.
Review 28:The location is perfect . Very close to town and the staff very helpful and friendly.
Review 29:8 am was a bit late for breakfast when travelling .
Review 30:Very centrally located, very clean and spacious . Close to pub for evening meal ( restaurant wasn't open ) .
Review 31:Breakfast was rather simple. The bedroom has a green light that stay on during the night which is a nuissance. i wore a mask to circumvent that. They could asd some cosiness to the rooms but overall a very good experience
Review 32:I thought it was great value for money! The staff in reception were very friendly and helpful. The location was perfect as we were attending a wedding nearby. The rooms were spacious and very clean. Great value for money. I didn't get breakfast so I can't comment on the food but I assume it would be to the same high standards of the accommodation!!
Review 33:The walls were paper thin. Unfortunately we had a couple of noisy neighbours who had just rolled in at 4 am and the noise level was terrible.
Review 34:Staff very professional and friendly. Beautiful location. Modern rooms
Review 35:We had an excellent stay right in the centre of Donegal Town. The staff were friendly, rooms very clean and the hotel obviously newly refurbished and very comfortable.Special diets were successfully catered.
Review 36:Joan the receptionist was so warm, helpful and really welcoming. The bed was very large and extremely comfortable. The bathroom was really spacious. Ideally situated near the centre of Donegal. Spotlessly clean.
Review 37:Loved everything, would have liked a cooked breakfast instead of continental, however the lady looking after the breakfasts was very helpful, chatty and attentive.
Review 38:Arrived to a very friendly welcome, although the published address is vague, lady on reception was lovely and chatty, the room was exceptionally clean and comfortable for the price, close to the town centre
Review 39:Over priced. 'Continental' breakfast priced at €9.99. It is essentially a motel and should state that
Review 40:Clean, comfortable and in a good location
Review 41:Exceptionally welcoming and helpful staff - went out of the way to ensure we had everything we needed and were comfortable. Room very comfortable for our 3 night stay. Continental breakfast was very good. Trouble with wifi but they were trying to sort it out when we left.
Review 42:Nice new shower but shower base is very dangerous when wet I nearly slipped on it but managed to grab tap holder it should have anti slip mats fitted, I did report this to member of staff who said they would look into this. I hope so before some person is caught by surprise when they step in.
Review 43:Good location Good pleasant staff Nice room Good price
Review 44:Location and facilities was excellent. 2 minutes short stroll over a babbling river, leads into the main square. A night in the Reel Inn, made our stay extra special with Irish musicians and dancers. Excellent seafood restaurant near the Quay called The Harbour.
Review 45:Clean, comfortable, great bed, friendly staff. Perfect quiet location, which is only a 2 minute walk away from the center of town. Would highly recommend. Unfortunately I was in a rush so didn't get to stay for breakfast.
Review 46:Room a bit spartan (no cupboard, just hangers and "open-air" drawers, a small low table), breakfast good but nothing special.
Review 47:5 min. walk only from Donegal town centre (central square). Quiet and clean, room spacious.
Review 48:No shampoo/conditioner is the only fault
Review 49:The family who run this are lovely & very friendly and helpful. Lovely area of Donegal town, very comfy beds and modern.
Review 50:Great location for Donegal town and really friendly accommodating staff who checked us in at midnight due to flight times/coaches. The rooms are really modern and clean with a really good shower.
Review 51:Ground floor rooms get the noise of footsteps from guests on secondfloor. The only flaw in this excellent lodge.
Review 52:Lovely rooms and friendly helpful staff. Brunch next door wasdelicious and again staff took time to chat and reccomend things to doin the area.
Review 53:A more detailed welcome pack in the room could have been useful with information on the local area.
Review 54:Great location, friendly helpful staff. Good value for money. Rooms nicely decorated in simple modern style...very comfortable beds!!!
Review 55:Being picky, the soap dispenser in the bathroom was rusty and a bit unsightly compared with the lovely decor and cleanliness of the room.
Review 56:Very nice place, newly opened. Would definitely visit again. Free continental breakfast with lots of choice. Wasn't expecting breakfast at all, so it was a lovely surprise. Two minutes walk to the town.
Review 57:Couldn't fault anything.
Review 58:We liked everything about this place, attended a wedding in Harvey's Point, very handy location. Staff were exceptional. We got up late and still got breakfast. Thank You
Review 59:Everything! Especially the fabulous big bed, the rain shower, the beautiful decor, the adjoining restaurant (best fish pie I've ever eaten), and the friendly and helpful staff in both facilities.
Review 60:The upstairs rooms are reached by a common staircase at one end with a exterior walkway. Each room has it's own door and window onto this walkway. This means that if you are at the staircase end of the walkway , then everyone accessing their room on the first floor walks past your window. The breakfast was a bit thin - even considering that it was advertised as a "continental breakfast". The adjacent restaurant doesn't open on a Monday
Review 61:Thr location was good and the bed was excellent. The en-suite bathroom was quite adequate.
Review 62:A wonderful friendly place to spend with family and friends. Great hospitality and great location. Will certainly be back, brilliant time had by all. Thank you.
Review 63:Nothing all more than expected at the price
Review 64:Very comfortable room, very welcoming and friendly staff and the complimentary farmhouse breakfast was very nice
Review 65:I would have liked to have a few drawers/wardrobe in the room. Needed some type of unit or shelf in bathroom to put stuff
Review 66:The room and bathroom was very clean and fresh
Review 67:You could hear roadnoise in the room (when it was quiet).
Review 68:Very friendly staff, superclean rooms and nicely decorated. Also only a minute walk into donegal center. Attached restaurant serves excellent breakfast and dinner!
Review 69:Didnt get to stay longer.
Review 70:Staff very friendly and helpful. Location was great for us (at a wedding to Harveys Point), but with it being 2 minutes walk from main square, would be great for weekend breaks. Breakfast was alos great. Lovely setting to the rooms. Great sized rooms and bed with modern bathroom.
Review 71:Great location, at a great price.
Review 72:Nicest people I've ever encountered in a hotel!
Review 73:The shower while good pressure temperature fluctuated slightly but was grand.
Review 74:It was quick clean and convenient.
Review 75:No carpet , i would like if you had carpet so you can take off the shoes off .
Review 76:Cost efficient comfortable accommodation
