Reviews for Castello di San Marco Charming Hotel & SPA
Review 1:I wish that the bar didn't close early. But there is a restaurant/bar right outside of the property where you can have a late drink.
Review 2:The staff was very accommodating. They treated us very well from the time we arrived. The facilities were very nice and clean. The location is amazing & everything you need is located on site.
Review 3:Food could be more tasty and prepared with a passion , so we went out every dinner even we were tired , just wanted to enjoy every moment
Review 4:Nice Location, pleasant people, good management, atmosphere, design , perfect everything except food, next time I would also stay here
Review 5:- shower water temperature and pressure a bit unstable - slightly funny smell of the old carpets in our room - sound insulation, we could hear our loud Italian neighbors - Flavia could have been more accommodating with our check-out requests after one week stay
Review 6:- unique property that is very well taken care of - very good wifi connectivity across the property - excellent and clean pool area - private beach - friendly staff - very good breakfast with local and home-made stuff
Review 7:We arrived by car and were collected and shown around the grounds on a golf buggy! The staff could not do enough for us and we were made to feel very special.
Review 8:Surrounding area Rooms are not in the main building, but are in effect chalets, but good chalets. Weddings held regularly, with little disruption but added an element of discomfort
Review 9:Garden, swimming pool
Review 10:Only minor downside, if I have to find one, is that day time mealtimes are inconvenient. You can only eat between 1pm and 3.30pm. Not great if you have hungry kids at noon
Review 11:I loved everything about this hotel: the room was of very high standing, the staff were lovely, the setting beautiful with a great pool and beach, the food delicious with a great spread at breakfast.
Review 12:Nothing
Review 13:Everything in this hotel is perfect. I would appreciate the reception staff and barman, who are demonstrated highest professionalism and attention to the guests. This was one of the best hotel of hundreds I've stay. Breakfast and dinner food were very good. I would recommend this hotel to get relax after busy cities.
Review 14:Nothing really - it is a quiet location (mid-May) and about 1km from the local shops so it's probably better to have a car.
Review 15:It's a beautiful hotel with exquisite grounds and lovely bungalow-style rooms set in the gardens. Friendly and helpful staff. The property borders the beach, which was very quiet. We revelled in this little paradise for three days and didn't want to leave. It is definitely on our return list - so very relaxing.
Review 16:The breakfast could use an upgrade as it is too basic and could have fresher food. Also the beach in front of the hotel needs to be cleaned up. It's not complicated to send someone to pick up the trash and to install a bin.
Review 17:This hotel was amazing. Staff is incredible, the rooms are great and the view of mount Etna is really nice. We had drinks at the bar and dinner at the hotel and both were great. We will be back.
Review 18:Friendly, warm and helpful staff, wonderful breakfast buffet, superb Sicilian cuisine in restaurant, beautiful grounds, relaxing setting, very private and quiet lodgings, easy access to Taoromina and "The Etna". We had a wonderful time. The perfect start, or end, to a Sicilian tour. Loved it.
Review 19:1. Blankets were extremelly worn and pillows not confortable. 2. Same for the carpets on the floor - worn and not so clean. 3. Breakfast selection rather slim 4. We were highly dissapointed because they forgot to prepare for us as agreed in advance, the take away breakfast that we asked for, because we had an early departure and breakfast hours were only 8-10.
Review 20:Extremelly nice garden great perfume from the blossom lemon trees and orange trees.
Review 21:Situated in an amazing park, Castello di San Marco is the perfect location to explore the Eastern side of Sicily. The wonderful gourmet restaurant was a great surprise for us and we had dinner there most of the evenings.
Review 22:The hotel is an absolutely stunning environment in an old palace which had been converted by adding chalet style rooms in the grounds. The rooms are spacious and comfortable and the gardens were very beautiful in early April. The weather was warm enough to swim in the large outdoor pool. The spa facilities and the restaurant and wine bar were excellent. There is a magnificent view of Mount Etna.
Review 23:The restaurant is good, but the menu is a bit limited and did not change during our one week stay.
Review 24:The staff were friendly, helpful and always cheerful.
Review 25:What we didn´t like has notheing to do with the hotel: As it was after the season, there+was no possibility to eat somewhere else, unless you had a car. And we had bad weather nearly the whole week.
Review 26:The Atmosphere due to the romantic building, The "decoration" of all places was perfect.
Review 27:Poorly lit and rather scruffy route to car park. Directions from the Autostrada to the hotel were not clear and misleading, especially on exciting the toll booth.
Review 28:The delicious food & wine-all meals. The delightful well equipped garden rooms with space & so well laid out. The well kept but simple grounds with so much space and colour. The helpful fun loving reception staff. The pool and its cleanliness. The proximity of the simple beach.
Review 29:Absolutely nothing.
Review 30:Everything including the location surroundings, grounds, facilities, restaurant and staff were all excellent and greatly exceeded expectations. Value for money considering the facilities. Great attention to detail and needs of guests. Good for a quiet and relaxing break or function
Review 31:Having to leave so soon !

Review 34:Lovely place & lovely surroundings, extremely comfortable room. Great Breakfast, we also had lunch & dinner there too & the quality of the food & service was excellent. Huge pool. Staff were extremely nice, helpful & accommodating. Wifi available in all areas. Would definitely return again.
Review 35:On the middle of nowhere , far away from the taormina and Catania . Taxi is very expencive to get to taormina, we had to rent a car to save little bit of money. Beds are super uncomfortable.
Review 36:Good wifi. Nice breakfast. Beautiful castle . Good for family with kids or old couples
Review 37:Superb staff. Superb location - the castle and the grounds are lovely. Good food.

Review 57:This was a luxurious treat so could only afford 2 nights! Maybe some deals?
Review 58:A magnificent building in the most beautiful gardens. Staff were charming and helpful. Very comfortably rooms.
Review 59:An absolutely fabulous hotel with great staff who always went the extra mile. The director and his family are charming and very welcoming. It is a small and intimate hotel with great facilities, food and wine and a wonderful location. I cannot recommend it enough!
Review 60:The hotel is very dog friendly!! The rooms are very vell equiped and a good size. The staff where very friendly and helpful! The beach is 1 minute away. Good food in the restaurant and a good buffet selcetion for breakfast!
Review 61:Some things in the room were a little run down. The mattresses were uncomfortable for such a luxury hotel. The heater in the room wasn't functioning properly. Given the overall experience it was easy to look past these things.
Review 62:The Castle and the grounds are beautiful. The hotel is immersed in a citrus tree orchard. The staff were very accommodating and helpful.
Review 63:Limited food options during the day. It would be nice to be able to order hot food during the day, not just sandwiches and salads.
Review 64:The castle is very charming and staff accommodate your every wish. You can stay by the good sized pool or go to the private beach just across the road. It is a perfect relaxation getaway with the hotel grounds very private and quiet,
Review 65:Firstly this hotel is a fraud and I suggest that booking.comlooks into it.1) The promised private beach is actually a public beach with chairs rented out to anyone who wants it. Not even the first row is reserved for guests of the hotel. 2) The rooms are all located in little houses or bungalows (that's what the junior suites are: bungalows looking into an unkept area with some bushes far away from both beach and the main building!...so I was forced to upgrade myself into a more expensive room just to be in a reasonable location within the property) outside the actual "castle" so calling this hotel a Castello is deceiving. 3) The staff at both beach and swimming pool is unprofessional to say the least: I was lied to about the privacy of the beach or the availability of a space on the first row in front of the sea (they had rented all out to people exterior to the hotel), had to tolerate music by the swimming pool (instead of a relaxed environment) as the staff said this was part of their ambiance and ended up with the lifeguard swimming in the pool as if he was a guest, basically sending water to everyone's faces in an attempt of demonstrating his great swimming style. 4) Finally the value for money of this hotel is just unexistent so I recommend anyone to stay from it (and from Sicily in general...you can get much better for the same money in e.g. Croatia or Portugal). I will no comment on the decoration of the rooms but these quite kitsch, not at all castle-like, just royal wannabe.
Review 66:The fact that I could leave was a very positive point.
Review 67:Lovely hotel. Very helpful and friendly staff
Review 68:SPA is expensive, blankets are very, very old and torn, sad!
Review 69:Excellent breakfast, extremely kind , food in the restoran is superb .
Review 70:Castello San Marco is a good option as a quiet place to stay to avoid the crowds in Taormina.
Review 71:Nowhere to snack. .Beautiful restaurant but no other eating choice
Review 72:The rooms were beautifully designed in traditional Italiandecor.....stunning
Review 73:No internet connection in my room
Review 74:Relaxing by the pool. Calm, clean, beautiful park, amazing room.
Review 75:Hotel grounds and park very peaceful and beautiful!
Review 76:Recent renovation and rooms were tacky and the exquisite luxury expected.
Review 77:Beautiful hotel and very helpful and friendly staff. Lovely grounds and pool.
Review 78:A bit far from everything, and hard to find.
