Reviews for Da Baranin
Review 1:Simple breakfast selection at this price to compare with others.
Review 2:Room with good view of the mountains and sea. Quite large room. You need to take the luggage walk all the way up to this place, but this area usually like this.
Review 3:Need to walk about 15 minutes from the train station uphill with heavy baggages. (the "cost" for a good view).
Review 4:Wonderful breakfast, fantastic view from the balcony, clear and close-contact instruction from the owner before the stay!
Review 5:No biggie but lighting is dim, which we also found in our previous accommodation and location.
Review 6:The location, room we had and the breakfast were fantastic for our three nights. Since the coastal paths on either side of Manarola are currently closed, the alternate paths were in close proximity to Da Baranin. The room we had was in another building a few steps away from the reception/breakfast building. It was a studio with kitchen which we used for dinner.
Review 7:Nothing.
Review 8:Nicely located in Manarola, although if you cannot walk uphill, the location may be difficult for you to reach. The host was very kind, and the breakfast was nice. The room was spacious, 2 bathrooms was nice. Manarola itself is a very lovely location.
Review 9:The view from my upstairs room's balcony overlooked the ocean, and it was a clean room. The bedroom area had twin beds in the lavender-themed room and was not contemporary yet bathroom was, though it was perfect for me. Sara, a lifelong Manarolan, runs the place and was extremely gracious with my every question. She served me a cheese omelette in the morning, which was not on her menu yet she accommodated my strict dietary needs. I wanted to stay another night, and sadly, she was booked solid, which speaks volumes.
Review 10:Room was very clean, spacious and comfortable with a terrific view of the sea and town. Wifi and cellphone access was significantly better than my last visit three years ago. It is a long walk uphill from the train station but worth it for the views and quiet. Very good restaurant closeby.
Review 11:Friendly staff. Comfortable room with amazing view from the balcony. Great location if you don't mind climbing the many steps that will take you to the B&B.
Review 12:Cinque Terra is all hills, so expect hills to get there. The room we were given was up a flight of stairs and was surprisingly adorable with a kitchen and dining area. The room was spotless the shower was hot and the bed was comfy. What more could you ask for?! The breakfast was in a cozy spot with fresh food and pastries made locally. Manarola was our favorite of the 5 towns. Sara and Silvia were great. Trattoria Da bIlly was across the lane and was fabulous.
Review 13:Pack lightly, otherwise you will be carrying your luggages up almost to the top of the mountain from the train station
Review 14:It's a nice B&B with friendly & helpful staff. Internet is good. Breakfast are OK. good view
Review 15:As it was rather cold outside, would be cosier with heating in the room.
Review 16:Very special place. Our room had small terrasse with beautiful view to Manarola village and the sea. Room was quite basic, but spotless clean. Good breakfast with tasty coffee and cakes (included also ham, cheese, jogurt). Still Italian atmosphare not spoiled by tourists (as we were as well:)) Would love to stay again and definitely recommend to others, enjoyed Manarola itself as found it less spoiled by tourists than other villages.
Review 17:Very small shower .
Review 18:Great breakfast ... Very clean And quiet. A walk up the hill from town center but nice to be away from the busyness of tourist area
Review 19:The b and b advertised air-conditioning, but there was none in the room.
Review 20:Had access to our own bachelor style suite with free wifi. Breakfast was served on a nice terrace.
Review 21:Difficult to access with baggage...no porter staff.
Review 22:Beautiful location in the hills of Manarola with lovely terrace for breakfast and self catering double bedroom.
Review 23:Wi-fi could be better.
Review 24:Da Baranin is a very cosy place to stay at. The room is comfortable and the air-conditioning is working well. Breakfast is very good with salty products (cheese, salami, ham) and freshly prepared cakes.
Review 25:Around 10 mins walk from the train station. I bought a big luggauge, the slope from station to the apt. is killing me~ The apt. is at 2/F, not lift.
Review 26:I like to sleep at the balcony! Excellent view, great weather. The staff Sylia is helpful and friendly.
Review 27:Room was quite small for two adults causing us to feel a little cramped. Also, the directions for finding the place could be much improved.
Review 28:The view and the excellent breakfast. Also, dining at Tratoria da Billy's was an excellent recommendation.
Review 29:we ordered sea view room expecting a window toward the sea, but the room we got was not as perfect as we expected.
Review 30:Room is big and well furnitured, breakfast is quite good and the staff are very nice.
Review 31:Close to car park so you can hear some automobile noise in the morning...
Review 32:Love Sylvia! Love the breakfast!! And the room is decorated really cute and tastefully!!
Review 33:it got noisy at midnight when some young boys can back and the voice was very clear through the walls. could be tiresome if you are carrying the luggage… seriously!
Review 34:convenient, clean, comfortable, wifi is strong.
Review 35:1. location: the end of the top hill, need 20 minutes by walk from the raiway station. It is really a big challenge especially when carrying your luggage. 2. room size is too small.
Review 36:1. breakfast is excellent even if it is a small hotel with only 6-7 rooms
Review 37:We loved the location in Manarola as it is not as busy as the other popular towns. Our room had a small balcony overlooking other homes and the old church. Very comfortable self contained property. we enjoyed the generous breakfast and on 2 other occasions a nice cold beer and spuntini after a strenuous days walk. Our compliments to Silvia, Sara and Giovanna who work tirelessly to make guests have a memorable stay as we did. We definitely recommend it to other travellers.
Review 38:The staff was so nice and the complimentary breakfast was delicious. It is a hike to get up to the apartments, but the view while you walk is worth it! Check out time is a little early (10:30am), but they will keep your bags for you so you can explore Manarola.
Review 39:The terrace was excellent for the tasty breakfast and for enjoying refreshments after a day of hiking. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Room was quiet and comfortable and the building is in a great location.
Review 40:the location is Tough. it's located on the top of the hiil. and to get there with luggage wasn't easy. the bed wasn't Comfortable
Review 41:the place is pretty. the owner was wonderful happy to help. breakfast was very good. and the room was clean.
Review 42:The wifi wasn't perfect at the room. The check-out time is really very early (10 am) if you're planning to spend your day at the beach.
Review 43:The staff are really nice, especially Silvia, she is extremely nice and would go out of her way to help you! Nice terrace with amazing jasmine smell.
Review 44:Lovely place to stay...excellent value for money. Exceeded expectations. Really nice decor in apartments. Extremely clean and comfortable. Breakfast perfect-great lemon cake! It is quite a steep walk to the accommodation and there was a fairly steep stairs to our apartment so if mobility is an issue...might be a problem. But otherwise it is totally do-able. You can be at Manarola seafront in less than five mins. Add on a few minutes for the climb back! Loved staying here.
Review 45:It was a great location as it was close to the car park. Apartment was comfortable, with two bathrooms and a well-equipped kitchen. Liked being able to leave our bags until we were ready to leave. The breakfast was good with freshly baked pastries and a good cappuccino.
Review 46:The hotel is perfect to hike the Cinque Terre! It was clean, comfortable and Manarola is a great place to stay, not as touristy as Vernazza but offers everything you need!
Review 47:NOTHING:)
Review 48:My husband and I spent the third leg of our honeymoon in Manarola and were SO pleased that we did. The apartment is quite a hike up the hill, but we were excited to get out and stretch our legs in Cinque Terre. The breakfast was fabulous and quite filling. The staff are so generous and willing to help with anything. The room itself was tiny, but more than enough for what we needed. The VIEW was exquisite!!
Review 49:Great location overlooking all of Manarola, the price and staff were great. Breakfast was great- very simple with breads, jams and cheeses but coffee and some muffins were also a nice treat. The staff was very kind and helpful
Review 50:It would be a bit inconvenient if you travel with a suit case, since the apartment is on the mountain, and you have to drag your suit case through those narrow alleys.. We asked for a room with sea view.. but yeah, we can only see the sea through the the corner of our window...
Review 51:The apartment is pretty cosy! We got everything we need :) The staffs are really friendly and helpful
Review 52:It is a bit of a hike up with luggage to get there, but we expected that in Cinque Terre - it's all hills. Since it was a paved road it wasn't bad with wheeled bags if you travel fairly light. Views of the water would have been nice but the view of town and hills was pleasant. Check for closed trails online before traveling. We still found places to hike, but it may have felt limited by the closed trails if we were there for a long stretch of time.
Review 53:The location higher up in Manarola kept it quieter and away from the bustle which was restful. Enjoyed the patio. Bed was comfortable. Breakfast was good. The best restaurant in town was very nearby (da Billy). Staff was kind and helpful. We loved Cinque Terre. It was gorgeous.
Review 54:The staff was extremely welcoming and went out of their way to accommodate any requests. We were a little late for check in due to the train and this was no problem. Location is superb: it is out of the main traffic area which allowed for very quiet sleeping and is mere steps from the hiking trails. Terrific view from our balcony. Breakfasts in particular were outstanding. Thirty seconds from the best trattoria in the village. Value for money is top notch.
Review 55:Not good breakfast range. Fruit and muffins tired and old. Not as good compared with other places we stayed at in Italy. Room not cleaned or prepared daily in a satisfactory manner. Tiny mouldy bathroom.
Review 56:Little bit hard to find.
Review 57:More than comfortable for our stay. Hosts very friendly & helpful, arrived hours before check in time but room was cleaned whilst we had complimentary morning tea. Lovely room with sweet balcony overlooking terraced hills, very modern, clean bathroom. Tasty & filling breakfast choices on the gorgeous terrace. Easy walk down to the village / train station.
Review 58:none
Review 59:Very good location. Although on the hill but quite near to Manarola station. I stored the lugguage in La Spezia Station and brought a little bag to Manarola. It only took me ten minutes to the hotel. The room was well equiped with everything and the most important thing was that I could have a very nice view to the sea and watch the star at night. The hoster was very warm and helpful. I hope I could come to stay at the hotel again.
Review 60:Very friendly service. Beautiful view over the city to the sea. Clean and peaceful. Great location when arriving by foot from Riomaggiore. Beautiful cathedral nearby.
Review 61:Despite some of the negative reviews on Booking.com, we had a great stay. The staff were lovely and helpful, wifi was fine, and beds were fine. Our little balcony had a great view over the town. And to the people who complained about the walk up the hill, well the town is on the side of a mountain, so if you don't want to walk up a hill, don't come here. (Or to cheat, We got a cab to the top of the hill, so didn't have to pull our bags up.)
Review 62:Amazing View (we stayed at room number 8)!!! Room is very small but we've spend most of the time sitting at the small balcony or traveling between Cinqe Terre little towns, so it wasn't a problem for us. Owners are very friendly and helpfull. Rooms are cleaned daily and fresh towels given if needed.
Review 63:The sea view was distant and a terrace or balcony would have been preferred
Review 64:the facilities of our studio flat were great with an excellent kitchen and lots of space
Review 65:It was a littler pricier than some of the other places we have stayed, but I think it was about average for Manarola.
Review 66:We had a very comfortable bed, TV, fridge, kettle, air-con and a little balcony where we could eat or relax while enjoying the great view of the surrounding mountains. It's just a 5-10 minute walk from town. Good breakfast. The staff were very friendly and helpful and let us leave our luggage there in the morning.
Review 67:Long walk up the hill from downtown and ocean. Small breakfast room made for cramped quarters on rainy days. Bathroom design very cramped.
Review 68:Nice room, but starkly decorated. Good breakfast selection. Great views of hillsides. Very quiet.
Review 69:We had the room on the first floor with two windows. One went directly to the breakfast patio so you could reach out and touch the tables and chairs (didn't make for a very private room). The other window went to the walkway between buildings where many people would stop to chat, loudly, for long periods of time (again, didn't make for a very private room and had no view whatsoever).
Review 70:The location was nice (despite the hike up the hill) as it was away from all the tourists. The bathroom was clean, new, and big. The free breakfast was delicious. Has a TV with one English channel :)
Review 71:Hot water low pressure, church bells at 0600.
Review 72:Location (small hill, fine if not unfit), room and lounge space with kitchen, friendly staff, solid wifi.
Review 73:Here's the mixed emotions - we were disappointed that we didn't have an ocean view, but that was compensated by the relaxing sound of the river across the way while we sat out on our deck; and we weren't overly excited about being so far away from the main part of town, yet again, that was compensated with peacefulness of the area we were in.
Review 74:We liked having our own little deck outside our room; delicious breakfasts and cappuccinos; the sound of the river; the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff; wi-fi in our room; the cleanliness and the privacy of the room; and how peaceful and serene the area was.
Review 75:Firstly, I’d like to summarize several key words, which is “Rude stuff, poor service, compulsory hidden charges and avoid”, for those who don’thave enough time to read the whole review. If you have enough time to read further, I’d like to share my experiences out here. I have been compulsorily charged £30 for the 30 minutes late. Here is what happened. I was traveling from Pisa to Manarola. I noticed the check-in window is closed at 18:30 and the train in Italy normally don't on time, so I emailed them and told them I may arrive later than 18:30. They agreed and said a surcharge of £30 will be applied. Then I replied to discuss with them seeking for a solution to avoid this fee, like using a key box or something similar. No response was received. I noticed they were trying to avoid this topic. Therefore, I send another email to them. Still no reply was received. It was boring to make this kind of communication. I rang the bell when I arrived at around 19:00. After 30 seconds, a member of stuff came down unhappily and gave me the key. When I checked-out after two nights stay, I want to gave some feedback regards to the late check-in fee. The stuff just kept repeating, “I don’t care, just choose another hotel”. I have been travel a lot in Europe, but this was the first time I met a hotel like this. They were so eager for tourists’ money. How ridiculous was this! I just wanted to give some feedback. If the fee was clear on the booking confirmation email or the stuff could explain it, I can totally understand. However, as I stated above, I don’t think such rude attitude and 30 seconds distance walking can be excuses for £30 charge. Because I needed to catch the train, I didn’t have time to argue with them and I am quite sure they used to utilize this point to get the money as they wish.If you can make sure you will arrive on time, I don’t know what will happen. If you want arrive by train, please remember the Italian railway will guarantee you nothing but late.
Review 76:The owner is very helpful and proud of her establishment and for good reason. The entire inn is well constructed and in very good condition. Their is a wine bar within the inn and breakfast on the terrace can't be beat. Seriously the breakfast was superb. The owner her self prepares it and makes coffee at request (Americano, Cappucino, Latte Etc.) Stay here!
Review 77:The bathroom was a bit hot and humid with little ventilation.
Review 78:Very clean with nice terraces for relaxing after climbing all the hills. The breakfast was great with wonderful croissants.
Review 79:It was in the best town in Cinque Terre. Access from the parking lot was allowed for 20 mins by the parking attendant, which allowed us to unpack our luggage from the car.
Review 80:We traveled from Florence by train and it was a difficult climb up the road and many steps to the location.
Review 81:The location is difficult to get to especially when traveling by train with heavy luggage but it was authentic Liguria, beautiful views and in a lovely old town. The hosts were lovely and helpful.
Review 82:If I have to come up with something, the only thing I could say is that the view is not a full-on view that is visible from all areas of the room. This was not a big factor for us--the whole package charmed us.
Review 83:We loved it all! The staff, especially Sara, were very helpful and welcoming. It is a lovely, charming spot, and we would go back there in a heart beat. It is high up on the hill, so if mobility is an issue, you might not want to stay there. However, we loved being located in one of the narrow European streets, with a lovely view of the sea. The view is a partial view, seen out of one of the windows--but it is special! Wish I were there right now. The breakfasts are hearty and tasty, they offer snacks and drinks in the afternoon, and we could not have asked for anything more.
Review 84:We did like it - but a small caveat ... De Baranin has a great view over Manarola and out to sea. Which means that it is at the top of the hill. If you don't like hills and views, don't stay at this hotel!
Review 85:We only stayed for one night, but it was perfect. We had a magnificent view from our balcony, the room was clean, and everything worked fine. Breakfast was lovely too. It is very close to (and on the same level as) Dal Billy - which is helpful if that is where you're going to have an evening meal.
Review 86:Great breakfast. Location to the town - a short hike up the hill. Restaurants, shops and the harbour were a ten minute walk from the accommodation. Clean rooms, our room faced the mountains
Review 87:The walk up the hill through town with our luggage was a steep climb -- but the payoff is worth it.
Review 88:It was a challenge on a very hot day to get our luggage up to Da Baranin from the train station, but when we opened the windows and stepped onto our balcony, we knew the trek had been worth it. Our reward was a memorable, fantastic view overlooking the town of Manarola and the Adriatic Sea. Our twin-bed room was comfortable and quiet, the bathroom had all the necessary amenities, the Wifi worked very well, and the mattresses were nicely firm. The facilities were up-to-date and clean. Normally, I don't like to spend much time in the room, but here, it was pure bliss just to sit on the balcony and drink in the atmosphere (along with some wine). The manager was friendly and very accommodating, and her staff was equally pleasant. Breakfasts on the terrace were delightful. Trattoria dal Billy, an excellent restaurant, is an easy one-minute walk away, and the manager helped us get a reservation our first night. Our stay at Da Baranin was a major factor in our enjoyment of the Cinque Terre.
Review 89:The price a bit expensive, but I can understand it. And there is not a lot of hotel. Still great.
Review 90:The place is great. Quite, beautiful, nice service. The breakfast is awesome on a terrace. One of the most important things is the proximity of the parking. We really enjoy our stay here. Thanks. I would come back again.
Review 91:It requires a little walk up the hill from the station, but just ten minutes and everywhere in Manarola would also require a little climbing. TV doesn't offer english channels, but who really needs TV in Manarola.
Review 92:The room we stayed in was like an apart, consisted of a living room, bedroom with a little balcony, bathroom and a kitchen which had all equipments. The owner was really nice and helpful. The breakfast was good, which included delicious bread types, cakes, cheese, eggs, salami and delicious marmalades. The facilities were clean, wifi was working properly.
Review 93:very friendly and helpful staff. tasty homemade breakfast.
Review 94:Room was very clean and I love the view from my room. Good breakfast.
Review 95:No bad experience, but no views from our rooms.
Review 96:Having 2 bathrooms for 2 single people. Good breakfast.
Review 97:beds are too small...
Review 98:SUPER B location with amazing view of whole Manarola since its on the hill and really great breakfest!
Review 99:awesome breakfast!big shower!
Review 100:Pillows
Review 101:Very kind staff, great breakfast
Review 102:Great location - just above the crowded town centre with a fabulous view out to the sea. Comfortable room and great breakfast.
Review 103:The small breakfast local was very nice and the staff was friendly and helpful.
Review 104:Lovely staff, good location.
Review 105:The balcony view was amazing. The room was large and clean. Breakfast was pretty good as well.
Review 106:We enjoyed the quietness away from the hustle and bustle, the position, homemade breakfast ser ed on the patio, friendly and helpful staff.
Review 107:nice appartment, we hv a short stay here, good for everything
Review 108:Wifi was a bit hit and miss.
Review 109:Loved the view from our room. And the fact there was a minibar and kettle to use!
Review 110:Excellent breakfast with homemade pies
Review 111:Hike to the top of the hill
Review 112:Cinqueterre towns and villages, hike between villages, swimming.
Review 113:We had a very nice sea-view room. We enjoy our stay there.
Review 114:Challenging walk uphill with luggage.
Review 115:Clean, quiet location, beautiful view, strongly recommended.
Review 116:No issues
Review 117:view overlooking Manarola was well worth the walk up the hill approx 7-8 mins walk with bags from Train station
