Reviews for Hotel Gasthof Zum Schwanen

Review 1:The location of the hotel was great, beautiful views! From our balcony you could see the castle ruins and the worlds longest suspension bridge. The staff were very friendly and willing to help (we speak very little German). Breakfast buffet was delicious. My family and I really enjoyed this hotel and will stay here again if we travel to the area again!

Review 2:Very hot as there was no air conditioning. A little overpriced for the area/facilities. Also it was right next to the train station and thus a little noisy.

Review 3:Rooms were clean and hotel annex was new. Location was ideal for visiting castles.

Review 4:It would be better to have a curtain that can block the sun light.

Review 5:The owners are very nice. Our room has a great mountain view. The restaurant provides very good food and is value for money.

Review 6:Bunch of hair of previous guest in the shower and smelly bed - it has been a hot summer but still! Check-in was more like checking in to the army.

Review 7:Nice modern rooms, good breakfast with a lot of choice

Review 8:I stayed at the suite which is very good, relax, clean & spacious. Very impressive. Facing the mountain. About 15 mins drive to Fussen. Suggest to drive to Lake Plansee which is also very beautiful. My husband loves this hotel a lot.

Review 11:You need to remember to ask for WiFi accounts for every device you have since only one device can use an account at a time. (No real problem.) No elevator, so pack what you can carry.

Review 12:Fairly good location for viewing castles should you have a car. Very good kitchen for dinner. Run by a nice family! Comfortable, friendly & clean!

Review 13:Soundproofing does not work so well. For the trunk, the car that passes regardless of the early morning late at night is often the front road.

Review 14:Breakfast is substantial. 4 kinds of bread Including rye bread with sunflower seeds, 6 kinds of cheese, 7 kinds of ham & shinken, cut fruit and yogurt, boild eggs, 4 kinds of berry, whole apple, juice & teabags & automatic itarlan coffee machine, etc... Madam says little jokes awkwardly in English is friendly & diligent. Morning, to take a walk around the plateau it's refreshing.

Review 15:Seemed a little pricey for what you got, but this is in an expensive area.

Review 16:Good breakfast, hot shower, location right off the freeway, comfortable beds, it was a nice, clean safe place to stay

Review 17:Evening meal was a bit uninspiring.

Review 18:Our upgraded room was very comfortable. Easy parking. Nice breakfast. Nearby railway line turned out not to be a problem.

Review 19:It is a very nice place, typically Tirol and quiet area, which is good for the baby. The staff was very helpful and friendly. It is also a good place for trips in the area. Breakfast was also good, with lots of choice.

Review 20:Not much English spoken. Communication was a small issue.

Review 21:Atmospherewas nice... You woke up with Alps in front of you...Amazing! Breakfast was good too.

Review 22:We were able to get a "family" room so that our two older children could stay with us. The hotel staff allowed us to stay for a second night, when we asked that morning. It was a great hotel!

Review 23:WiFi seemed to be limited to one connection. Damp feeling in room and bedding but it had been rainy for several days. Didn't affect our sleep.

Review 24:Quaint town. Hotel literally by the train stop but no problem at night as train stops running until morning. Just remember to push train stop button or you might continue by to next town. Food very good and the owners were very accommodating when we asked for a non-meat meal. Koodos to the cook for making us a nice cooked veggie plate. Breakfast buffet was also very hearty.

Review 25:It was a wonderful small place. Everyone was so very friendly!!

Review 26:room is large, clerks are very nice

Review 27:location and huge room

Review 28:The room was large, had a great view and was very clean. The owners were very nice.

Review 29:I like everything

Review 30:very nice view around the hotel, nice food

Review 31:The friendliness of the owners who we met before. Room in annex, quiet and comfortable. Excellent breakfast and evening meals.

Review 32:Railway is close to the hotel.

Review 33:Nice place with perfect view.

Review 34:Just that it's a bit of a walk to Reutte centre.

Review 35:Nearly everything.

Review 36:Dinner was very good. Breakfast was plentiful ans very good

Review 37:Nothing.

Review 38:Lovely location near mountains, good breakfast. Private car park. We had a good evening meal at reasonable cost. All good.

Review 39:nice individual bedrooms in the 3-persons room. big bathroom and comfortable beds

Review 40:It's located in one small village in Austria nearby Fuessen. You can see the mountain in the room. The service group are very nice.

Review 41:Very nice room. Friendly staff. It's only 15 minutes driving to Swan Castle.

Review 42:no air-conditioning in the rooms. Quite limited offering at breakfast

Review 43:nice new rooms, with wooden floors and separate sleeping area for kids

Review 44:Very best restaurante, we enjoy realy!

Review 45:The check out was 10.30, not 11am as said in the booking and we were threatened to be charged for the next day if don't move out before 11. Which made check out very unpleasant and rushed. We booked 2 Deluxe double rooms and only one of them was Deluxe, another one was usual double (smaller). The restaurant was closed, as it was Wednesday. Sauna was opened until 7.30pm and we arrived 8pm, so we were unable to use it.

Review 46:The views are outstanding, spacious room

Review 47:nothing

Review 48:lovely room, good sized bathroom, firm bed, great views from the balcony. BEST of all: the food in their restaurant is outstanding and not expensive.

Review 49:During our visut the staff speaked only german. It's not a problem if you understand the language, otherwise it can be a difficulty to communicate.

Review 50:Nice family-owned hotel. Very kind staff. 10-15 minutes by car from the kings castles in Germany. Parking for guests right in front of the hotel.

Review 51:Location a bit out of the way in small Austrian town. Get directions before heading out to Castle Country.

Review 52:Very clean, modern, good-sized room. Excellent complimentary breakfast. Restaurant serves affordable, local cuisine -- wienerschnitzel was great!

Review 53:We spent ther one night, very nice people, nice clean room, nice view, nice breakfast. There's a train line right behind, didn't bother us, maby one train had passed, not noisy, good for the one that travel by train, a lot of free parking if you travel by car.

Review 54:We were a little concerned when we saw how near our room was to a railway line but we weren't bothered about train noise so wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Review 55:This is an excellent hotel. Our room included a separate sitting room and our bedroom had a wonderful view of the surrounding snow topped mountains. We had an excellent dinner and staff were very friendly. Good position too for having a country walk.

Review 56:The only complaints we had are minor. There could have been some eggs for breakfast and being limited to 5 hours on one device on the internet was difficult.

Review 57:The room was very comfortable and having a room that we could close off was very nice for our teenage daughter. The view was also beautiful and the location was close to the castles by car. The room seemed brand new. Also the apple strudel was amazing. We found the staff to be very kind and helpful even though they spoke little English.

Review 58:Everything about the hotel was fabulous. The restaurant located in hotel was super convenient with young children. The location was great for visits to neuschwanstein castle and fussen. The room we stayed in was newly renovated, clean and spacious. Staff was kind and helpful. There was only one man who spoke English, but he was there most of the time. I would highly recommend staying here!! :)

Review 59:Quite expensive for the standard. Didn't have bikes for hire asadvertised. Had to ask for the guestcard. Wasn't such a relaxingatmosphere there due to the people. Only had one person who spoke anyenglish who was not there much. Average menu in the restaurant. Overalli've stayed in better places for a much cheaper price in austria.

Review 60:Overall its a nice enough place, as you'd expect for austria and thestandard/price, however quite a few things tarnished the experience.

Review 61:I wish the staff knew more English or I understood more German. We askedto stay another night speaking in broken German and it was a 5 minuteback and forth (the waitress did know more English though and that was abig help). There is a small train stop next to the hotel. The trainwhistle does go off occasionally (1 or 2 times a day) but not enough tobe of concern. Do not expect anything in Reutte to be open on Sunday orafter 18:00. This does give the town a certain charm though.

Review 62:The rooms were very modern just like the website advertised and thedining area was more rustic. It was the best of both modern conveniencewith rustic charm. The breakfast was wonderful and the food for dinnerwas great, I would recommend eating there every night as nothing in townis open after 18:00. The views from the room were great. The staff andthe couple that run the hotel were charming. We liked it so much westayed another night. A perfect place to start many adventures.

Review 63:We asked for a de-luxe double but were given a sort of suite with an extra room with sofa bed, which we did not need. We would have preferred one of the more modern rooms. The menu at the front door was not the same as we were given and the choice for us was limited and not what we would have chosen.

Review 64:There is one man who speaks excellent English and he was very helpful. There was a lovely spacious modern bathroom.

Review 65:The stuff was very friendly, room is clean and comfy. Good breakfastincluded. Especially convenient is restaurant in hotel with rich choiceof meal, bear and wine and excellent quality. Also convenient locationnear to Germany's famous castles and Zugspitze and roads with scenicviews all around.

Review 66:Conveniently located in a small town close to start of the Romantic Road. Large, comfortable modern room, good breakfast. Right next to the train station, but still very quiet, with great views of the mountains and fields.

Review 67:When had some small difficulties reaching the location (some roads were closed). A very small inconvenience.

Review 68:The food you can eat in the restaurant is very good. Close to Neuschwanstein.

Review 69:Occasional train, right next to the hotel, didn't hear any duringthe night, earliest one was 7.30am.

Review 70:Clean spacious room, view from bedroom was looking at the mountains, quite spectacular. Close to one of the best driving roads in europe theHahntennjoch pass, well worth a trip.

Review 71:We were very late and reached the hotel at 10 pm, the staff patiently waited for us. Very friendly and courteous. The breakfast was sumptuous. The rooms very large and comfortable. We enjoyed our stay here.

Review 72:Restaurant was closed but we ate down the road at local pub and food was fantastic, very large portions. Bedroom was very new and quiet. Train just behind hotel but not noisy. Not far from Neuschwanstein castle.

Review 73:we had a great time at this hotel. The owner and all staff are very friendly and helpfull. The food is delicious and the location was very good because is very close to the train station and to the bus stop.

Review 74:Heating is not strong enough at night.

Review 75:Nice and friendly family-run ski resort in a small town of Austria.About 10 km from Fussen. Spacious room with balcony, where you can seethe snow mountains.

Review 76:Excellent location for visiting Popular castles and the children's museum At Ehrenberg. The staff is friendly & breakfast is good. The rooms have recently been renovated.

Review 77:nothing.

Review 78:Flexible staff. We arrived very late.and got a warm welcome anyway.Staff were very friendly and helpful. We got a very nice spacious room. In the morning we got our breakfast early even before official breakfast time. Breakfast was perfect.

Review 79:An excellent friiendly small hotel with very nice immaculate rooms, aconvenient elevator, good food and a good location for visiting KingLudwigs castles right over the German border .

Review 80:Our room was next to a train station. The train went by every 30 minutes (give or take), but not at night. It didn't make very loud noise and didn't bother me, but some people can find it annoying.

Review 81:The location was great. We visited the Neuchwanstein castle and it was a short drive away. The rooms were large, bathroom&toilet were large. Good breakfast. Very good value for money.

Review 82:We had a room that was fantastic. Was like right out of an IKEA catalog. The breakfast had a great selection and was kid friendly. I would stay there again. They had wifi and even though you had to pay, the host offered to me for free for a couple of hours. About a 15 minute drive to Fussen which is near Castle Neuschwanstein.

Review 83:Lots of smoking while I ate dinner. They don't speak any English.

Review 84:Very quiet and in the countryside of Austria. Close to Neushwanstein Castle, but not in in bustle of Fussen, Germany.

Review 85:The staff's English was not very good, but they tried very hard.

Review 86:Nice and clean, modern bathroom, comfortable bed, close to castle attractions. Had a great restaurant with a beer garden for outside dining.

Review 87:This was my fourth stay at Zum Schwanen. The location is great as it isonly about 15 minutes from Füssen, Germany and Neuschwanstein. Yet youare in a quiet, peaceful and lovely area. Since my last stay about ayear ago, the rooms have been completely remodeled. They are very niceand modern. They also have free wifi.

Review 88:The small refrigerator would be good for family with young children. The majority of staff don't speak English.

Review 89:We really satisfied. The staff very friendly. Amazing view of mountains and forests. Food was good. Location very convenient for travelling to Germany or inland of Austria. The room was big enough for our family (2 adults and 3 children).

Review 90:Liked everything about Zum Schwannen ! Friendly, warm reception ! Fooddelicious! Chef went out of his way to make my stay (and eating )extremely pleasurable ! Found the best (scenic) route for my trip toBregenz . Not to forget the complimentary glass of local fruit schnapps, after dinner ! Delicious ! Will go back there again !

Review 91:It's location was unusual..in such a small village, yet the hotel itself was very modern in operation, and Old World BAVARIA is style and comfort. The views of the Alps surrounded you, especially from the dining rooms. I would recommend this hotel to all my friends.

Review 92:Tissue box is empty, sometting wrong with the shower nozzle,

Review 93:10 minutes drive to the castle, nice view

Review 94:Staff could be more friendly

Review 95:Booking.com stated hotel has a lift....it does not!

Review 96:Excellent food and service. Good value accommodation

Review 97:When the owner offers you a drink on the house, be careful that stuff can burn a hole in you stomach

Review 98:When ordering a Pizza be warned they are big

Review 99:Location was great and the hotel was clean and comfortable. Also friendly staff.

Review 100:The hostel is awesome!! the best option if you have plans to visit the Ludowich II castels.

Review 109:Friendly staff, modern clean room, best shower on our trip so far!

Review 110:The location is great for visiting Neuschwanstein if you want to see a little of the countryside also. Comfortable rooms & good service.
