Reviews for Giovanni Rooms

Review 1:Nothing to do with the hotel, in January it's so dead there are no restaurants open. The value seems way to high for this season.

Review 2:Great location, clean, quiet, no one around, maid came every morning

Review 3:During my three days there, I never met the b&b owner. Hospitality, which to me is quite an essential element expected from b&bs, was absent in this b&b. And no breakfast was served. The room had some renovation problems: the bathroom sink and the toilet were both leaking.

Review 4:The interior design is simple but special. The lightening is bright, much better than most b&bs and hotels I've ever stayed at. The windows are well sound-proof. The view facing the balcony is very refreshing. The young lady who does the room cleaning is friendly. There are sufficient sockets in the wall for all your convenience.

Review 5:Sadly there was an electric cable in front of the window (hence the view was not perfect).

Review 6:It was easy to access (close to the town parking) and the room has a view (not perfect but still).

Review 7:It was hard to find the hotel location, you had to asked few local people then finally find it in a middle of small street, no hotel name and it was modified from residence building. 100% self service.

Review 8:Good view of town.

Review 9:We didn't get a view of the sea from our room which was a bit disappointing.

Review 10:Check in was very smooth and simple. They even provided services to wash our clothes which was excellent because we had gone through all of our clean ones. The room was clean, very spacious and had everything we needed.

Review 11:Nothing

Review 12:Everything was great. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Great view from our window. AC worked great. Convenient clothesline right outside window. Friendly and helpful staff. Would definitely stay here again.

Review 13:We had a stressful travel day, which resulted in lost luggage and an extremely late arrival at Giovanni Rooms. Giovanni sent polite text messages, checking in on the status of our arrival. When we got to the hotel, at nearly 11PM, we found Giovanni to be extremely welcoming and friendly. Additionally, he provided great assistance for three days in our attempts to locate our luggage and facilitate the delivery. He is the kindest hotelier we have experienced. Additionally, the room was exactly what we needed for a great experience in Cinque Terre. The bed was comfortable and the shower was great! We would definitely stay at Giovanni Rooms again.

Review 14:We liked the quietness of the town (after the train and ferries stop bringing tourists for the day). Its not as commercial as some of the others we visited in Cinque Terre area. Discovered excellent places to eat where the locals hang out; Bar Enrica and Billy's. A hike to Riomaggiore is steep, straight up and down, with gorgeous views.

Review 15:Nothing to dislike .... just be prepared for the hike up the hill (not difficult but perhaps not for couch potatoes or the elderly)

Review 16:There is little left to ask as the owner sends you a confirmation with all the details you could need. Added to this is the offer (chargeable) for transport to and from the venue. Arriving late in the evening with my mother, and several cases in tow, this was a God-send!

Review 17:there is some problem with the drain in the toilet, the water doesn't go away My room is a bit small

Review 18:the owner is so chill and nice, the big bed is comfortable

Review 19:Accepting no credit cards and having no change available is not very professional. With the cash machine out of order it took us 40 minutes to find people who were able/ willing to change the exact amount

Review 20:My older companions didnt like the hike up to reach the place but since its typical 5Terre character anywhere u go its tolerable.

Review 21:Owner was super nice. Perfect location with a killer view of the ocean n colorful cliff houses. On our 2nd day we just stayed at this place and enjoyed the view from our balcony. Very relaxing.

Review 22:Nothing really.

Review 23:Very convenient location at top of the village. Easy reach with luggage. Great view. fantastic customer service by Giovanni and family.

Review 24:The place was neat and cleaned on a daily basis but our bathroom had a funny smell - this more a comment for the owner.

Review 25:Loved the village and the atmosphere. It was close enough to everything we needed at cinque terre. Our kids are walkers so we didn't mind so much that the flatter route in the national park is closed from old land slides

Review 26:The bed get separated while sleeping, it was enjoying and you couldn't enjoy a bed for a couple. There was a bit of flooding in the shower. No breakfast inclouded.

Review 27:A nice comfortable and clean room for two. Great view. Not far away from the train station. The owner arrived quickly as we rang the bell.

Review 28:Couldn't find a wine bottle opener in the kitchen. No kitchen dish towels. Not adequate hot water.

Review 29:The view was incredible. The space was clean and comfortable.

Review 30:confirmation showed that credit cards were taken but when we arrived they said only cash. No ATM's were working and banks didn't give cash. ended up having to go to Monterossa ATM but machine ate card snf bank closed (sun.) Next day we went back to bank and waited in line with 15 others; card returned, they did not give cash so had to go to ATM in town and finally got cash. Lotss of wasted time and inconvienence!

Review 31:We arrived within business hours and waited quite a long time at the door, before someone answered on the speaker and opened the door remotely. During our stay a lady claiming to be Giovanni's Mother entered our room without knocking and also later at night after we had gone to bed our door was opened again by a man who said he was a tourist. This was an invasion of our privacy and should not happen. A large set of keys was left behind our door and supposedly in all of the rooms, so they probably opened other peoples doors. We have stayed in many hotels and other types of accommodation and have never ever experienced anything like this. As lovely as the accommodation was we certainly will not be returning.

Review 32:Room and bathroom, very clean and modern and very comfortable.

Review 33:This apartment has marvelous views. Giovanni was very helpful. Directions were perfect. Up a few stairs to an open, sunny apartment. There were four of us and it was just right. Would definitely come back.

Review 34:We paid the same price for our room as our friends. However, their room was larger with a sofa & a view, TV was larger & worked, bathroom was larger & had a hair dryer. Our room had a back street view and did not include any of the things our friends room had. Therefore, for those reasons I believe we should not have paid the same since the rooms were totally different.

Review 35:Clean room, updated bathroom and good location and felt safe.

Review 36:There was a serious drain issue that made the room smell like a sewer. It seemed to come and go, but sometimes it was unbearable. The sink in the bathroom was also partially blocked so the water drained very slowly.

Review 37:Nice spacious room with a view to the sea. Comfortable bed and good bathroom.

Review 38:Climb from railway station pulling a heavy suitcase very taxing for an older person like me .. much more than 150metres!

Review 39:View from apartment amazing..facilities all good

Review 40:Little ants, but they sprayed them right away.

Review 41:The balcony and view - it was so beautiful we were stunned every time we looked out. We had the two bedroom apt. with front and rear balconies.

Review 42:Very comfortable room (the bed, the bathroom). There were cups, kettle, and instant coffee and tea in the room, I think it's an extrakind idea. Good location, few minutes from the station, from the car park (17 euros for a day), and from the sea. There is shop, bar, restaurant in a minute. Giovanni's room is a good choice!

Review 43:As noted in other reviews Manarola, as well as most of Cinque Terre, is a town in which you must be physically fit to get around. The apartment is up at the top of the hill (as described on the posting) and 2 flights of stairs to the apartment we stayed in. Minor problem with ants while we were there.

Review 44:Giovanni was very helpful. We were 2 couples traveling together and the 2 bedroom apartment was perfect. There were terraces on the front and back of the apartment giving us a lovely cross breeze on hot days. Kitchen was well appointed although we only ate breakfast in the room. Best part of this place is the view.....spectacular!

Review 45:Quite a hike uphill pulling your luggage.

Review 46:Beautiful secluded area away from the tourist crowd but still within walking distance of everything. Beautiful view.

Review 47:After you had a shower there is a slight smell from the sewer, must be a plumbing problem. Fixed by closing the door.

Review 48:The apartments are located in a original town building but have been totally fitted out. The view from our room overlooked the surrounding vineyards, town and the ocean. The bed was excellent.

Review 49:Until two days prior, I was unaware that this booking accepts cash ONLY! ATMs are hard to find in Italy, though there is one at the bottom of the hill near the train station. You will need cash for just about everywhere in Manarolo.

Review 50:This room was better than the photos! Waking up to the sunshine and Mediterranean Sea just outside our window was amazing! Everything was very comfortable and simply better than I could have ever imagined.

Review 51:too expensive no personal, contact only by mobile phone, also for payment (you leave the key and money in the room...), no breakfast no parking as mentionned in the description, the same carpark 20 min outside Manarola as daytourists

Review 52:the Room was there and pretty nice

Review 53:We really liked it but it was a bit on the expensive side for only being a room, with no breakfast and no reception etc. It was the most expensive accommodation during our whole trip to Italy.

Review 54:The view from our room was beautiful. A big plus for that. Excellent information on their website on how to find it. A little hard to find if you don't follow these directions. Very flexible with check in and check out despite not having a reception. Very good information left for us in the room which makes up for the lack of a staff member always being around. The owners mother was there to greet us when we came, she was very nice.

Review 55:No official invoice, only receives ash!!! Price too high, no staff. Very narrow stairs to access to the room.

Review 56:Location, view from windows, Rebuild facilities.

Review 57:Nothing!

Review 58:The room was clean, large and well decorated. It was a great location. The housekeeper let me use her phone, so nice! It was in a quiet area too for good sleeping!

Review 59:- It is a bit impersonal but we knew that already.

Review 60:+ Location + The rooms are great + WIFI works like a charm + It is not hard to find if you pay attention + The view from the window is fantastic

Review 61:Not seaside but view of sea. Required to pay cash for entire stay.

Review 62:Giovanni rooms were clean, newly renovated and easy to access with luggage in a very up and down town. Manarola was not so busy as other towns, had great restaurants, and could go swimming at beach.

Review 63:No breakfast, parking in the regional parking place for extra fee, get penalty easily and fast by parking in a wrong place (121 € or less)

Review 64:perfect location, maximally equipped room, beautiful landscape and room, very good WiFi, silent air conditioner, info booklet with every information, what can be needed, get an e-mail before arriving with map and a lot of important things, english speaking owner

Review 65:the view would have been better from a seaside room

Review 66:rooms were very clean giovanni was very helpful even went to trouble of buying us an iron as we needed lots of stuff pressed for our next destination would recomend a stay there

Review 67:Only cash payment. Also only 1 ATM machine in the town, which was out of cash for the day of, and prior to departure. Caused headache of taking train to next town which runs on infrequent schedules, etc. Waste of 2 hours there...

Review 68:Room was modern, simple, and clean. Had great view of town and sea. Little bit of hike from the train station, but seems like whole town is that way, and most people are coming to Cinque Terre for hiking anyway, right?

Review 69:Everything was great. Giovanni upgraded my room to the seaside view for no extra cost. The view was great. Rooms were clean and it had everything we needed. I would come here again when I visit manarola.

Review 70:Amazing views!

Review 71:Giovanni went out of his way to make us feel at home and made sure we had instructions to locate room

Review 72:Beautiful view. Lovely bathroom. Room had all that we needed.

Review 73:Seriously overpriced.

Review 113:Very nice, spacious and clean. Two separate bedrooms. Beautiful view of the sea from the balcony.

Review 114:A little bit exensive...

Review 115:Such good view from the hotel room window!

Review 116:well, you have to go uphill and then through some stairs to get to the place. it didn't actually bother me but it can be troublesome for some people.

Review 117:i had a very nice view from my room. the room was modernly furnitured. wifi connection was excellent. i had a chance to meet with Mr. Giovanni and he is a very nice person. i would definitely stay there if i visited Manarola again.

Review 118:The location was amazing! Accommodation great for a family of four. Would have been nice to have had a 'welcome pack' - say sachets of tea, coffee, certainly a bottle of water and a small pack of biscuits:) other than that Manarola out of this world!

Review 119:Narrow staircase up. Need to be travelling light else difficulty with lugging luggage although they have a paid porter service

Review 120:Home away from home! Fantastic work done by owner to convert into hotel style rooms with amenities. View from room on level 2 was excellent. Very good & fast wifi

Review 121:Nothing really but it's a hike up to the apartment and visitors should heed the warnings about packing light.

Review 122:I really liked this apartment and the layout was perfect for our daughter and us to have separate spaces. We had the top floor two bedroom the a balcony on the front and the back. Great views and ex excellent cross breeze. Giovanni was very helpful and provided an excellent transfer.

Review 123:We stayed in a room with a wonderful panaromic scene of Manarola. Giovanni was not there but he organized everything what we need. We had no problem at all. Room was very clean and nice decorated. Bathroom is very confy. Wi-Fi worked very well and there is an ipod speaker in the room. Manarola was our favorite within 5Terre. It absolutely worths to stay at Giovanni Rooms.

Review 124:Prefect location, perfect room (think just done the renovation) perfect washroom everything is so new and good condition. I would like to apologize to Giovanni for unable filling up the particular form as we forgot to bring our pen. Sorryz..
