Reviews for Hotel Villa Belvedere
Review 1:Awesome views, nice sea town in Bonassola, great access to cinque terre, good time of year to visit, weather a little colder, fewer tourists, but everything still operational
Review 2:The room was basic with perhaps too much furniture in it but the view from the balcony was stunning. The hotel was also situated in a beautiful garden with lots of places to sit and relax both outside in the garden and inside.
Review 3:Mature couples need to know there is no elevator, and there may not be people available to help with bags (as when we were leaving). Wifi is very difficult in this location.
Review 4:The view was lovely and staff was available upon arrival who graciously helped with our bags. The breakfast was quite enjoyable. Did not eat there in the evening but went down into the main village area. There is a path down to the town which is not too difficult. Several good restaurants there. This is a 3 star hotel so rooms are sparse, but location was quiet and quite beautiful.
Review 5:Thin walls - neighbours noise, luckily everybody was asleep by 23.00hrs :-). No Wi-fi in our room. I think they should mention that in some rooms is no Wi-fi available. Bathroom very small. No shuttle offered to the train station at 6 in the morning. We paid 30 euros to go by taxi to Levanto as it is to difficult to walk to the station in Bonassola with the luggage. 950 meters stairs plus another km to the station. If you arrive by car than there is no problem.
Review 6:The terasse, the dining room, the reception area, not to forget the massage chair (absolutely beautiful), the winterterrase.Always Wi-fi on the terrasse and the reception area.
Review 7:If you're not used to driving around the mountains of north western Italy, getting here can be a bit nerve wracking. Down one mountain, up the other side and then down into Bonassola. But if you can do it, it's so worth it! We upgraded our room to a balcony room for only 15E per night and it was the best upgrade we ever did! Enjoying a bottle of wine up there in the early evening was a highlight of our stay. The staff is very friendly; the food is very good. WiFi on the third floor was impossible to connect to, but that was about the only negative I can think of. It's a great relaxing place in a quieter seaside village. Absolutely loved it.
Review 8:If it's five minutes walk to reach city center, down, it is more to go back to the hotel, up. Essentially after a good Italian dinner. But that's worth the effort !!
Review 9:Fantastic place to visit le Cinque Terre without being part of the touristic crawd. From the hotel, five minutes walk to reach city center, and train station. See view from the rooms And after a long walking day, an exceptional massage relaxing chair is available for customers. Priceless !!
Review 10:Tiny bathrooms. Toilets were extremely close to shower door. Pillows on bed were like hard cement.
Review 11:View and property were beautiful. Loved the convenience of having dinner on site.
Review 12:Hotel was comfortable & relaxed with lovely informal garden areas to sit & read or have a glass of wine or a coffee.Staff were pleasant & helpful & provided a shuttle service to train station. Hotel is on hill so could appreciate setting on Italian riviera. Town is small & not with many tourists so kept the small town Italian atmosphere that was what I personally like. Only negatives were that room was a bit warm in the heat with no airconditioning - only a room fan & was only able to access internet on an unlocked site on main floor & close vicinity patio/garden areas. My single room had a single bed & am used to having a double or Queen bed in Canada when book a single room. The breakfast served was basic but satisfying & restaurant was ok for dinner but not great. However was a relaxing stay for someone wanting an Italian, small town cultural setting & not looking for North American style amenities.I would go back & recommend this place for others wanting the same type of experience as I enjoyed.
Review 13:Nothing
Review 14:Just far enough up the hill to be away from the town. Quiet, magnificent views, relaxing, GREAT breakfast, lovely staff, loved the meal in the restaurant, beautiful and well-kept grounds and gardens.
Review 15:The hotel is on the green hill, looks like real villa, has a magnificent panoramic sight and a picturesque view of the sea. Very nice and cosy terrace and recreation area. The place is very tranquil, away from the bustle of the overcrowded Cinque Terre, but locally very close to it (easy access by train). The neighbouring villages are as well available by bike in 10-30 min (Levanto, Framura), the bike paths are scenic and safe, coast-wise through the old tonnels. The hotel suggests nice cuisine for dinner, the breakfast is very good, a kind of English :) The interior of the hotel and of the room is elegant and charming. The beach and the downtown are in a few minutes walk, the sea is smooth and clean.
Review 16:There was nothing to dislike
Review 17:Beautiful place with nice private garden. Pitoresque beach with crystal clean wather is just some few minutes apart. Staff of the hotel is friendly and helpful. Contrary to rather overcrowded and busy Levanto or Monterosso, Bonassola is intimate and quiet.
Review 18:Only one thing. There is no aircondition only a fan, so it gets pretty hot during The night...but nothing you can't live with.
Review 19:One of the most beautiful places we have ever been! It has The most incredible view, and they have just made The place so comfy, and homely. You really just want to sit in their comfy chairs and sofas and watch The view, it is totally breathtaking.
Review 20:No air conditioning, and terrible fans in the room. Way to hot inside. It is high up on a mountain and you have to climb many stairs to get there. Wifi only works in some parts of hotel and not very well.
Review 21:Once you reached the location, it had a beautiful view and outdoor facilities. The rooms are small but adaquit and the resturant was very good.
Review 22:The warmth and welcome from the hosts and staff was wonderful after navigating the steep winding roads. The food was excellent and the ambience of the hotel was very relaxing. Beautiful surrounds, with seating at vantage points to make the most of the views.
Review 23:The room we were assigned was such that the window was at ground level giving concern of safety and security. Window didn't lock but outside shutter did. Shower was so small one could not even bend over to pick up soap if necessary. Room was small by comparison to other places however it was neat and well equipped.....
Review 24:The hotel and its view was perfect. The hospitality was what you would expect from such a fine place. The view overlooking the water was incredible. We will definitely return if we revisit this area. Short walk to the train station.
Review 25:If you want to be where the 'action ' is don't stay here! If you want secluded quiet yet efficient caring staff this is for you. Beautiful surroundings, comfortable room, good food. Not cheap but good value for money.
Review 26:Wi-fi doesn't work in the bedrooms.
Review 27:The hotel is beautiful and clean! Amazing view from the room and very cozy. Friendly staff. Close to the train station. The small town of Bonassola is also very cute but everything closes very early. It was hard to find a place to have dinner after 9pm. Make sure you have a reservation. :)
Review 28:Just outside the main tourism area, but walkable (old railway tunnel) to next main town and direct on train to cinque terre area. Also great walks in the area
Review 29:Restaurant was closed, check ahead in low season. Also, not many restaurants are open in Bonasolla in low season.
Review 30:View is good, we enjoyed being able to walk easily to adjoining villages via the rail tunnels. Easy to get to the Cinque Terre but nice to get away from the main tourist towns.
Review 31:We loved everything - the view, breakfast on the terrace, the location. My husband and I stayed here for two nights while visiting Cinque Terre. The location really was perfect, a small and quite town with a small beach and train station that gets you to Cinque Terre within 10 minutes. I can't say enough good things about this place!
Review 32:Evening dinner menu was expensive, with very little choice, and not to our taste. Ceiling fan in our room helped during some very humid nights but air conditioning would have been better. No lift.
Review 33:Quiet seaside town just outside the very busy Cinque Terre. Good local train service. Great views from the hotel's terrace and from our room. Breakfast was good.
Review 34:We found one of the receptionists to be rude and unfriendly.
Review 35:We loved the location of this hotel and we could not get enough of the spectacular view. The room was spacious and we enjoyed the feeling of homeliness. We can not wait to return and next time we'll stay much longer.
Review 36:Replacement of coffee, milk , etc. very unpredictable and had to go down and ask for refills on several occasions when we returned in the evening.
Review 37:Friendly helpful staff. Sea view balcony room brilliant Location fantastic
Review 38:The hillside location, and parking was not easy when hotel was busy
Review 39:The character and charm. The ambience, relaxed but caring attitude and general wellbeing. Good food and excellent breakfast.
Review 40:Within the ancient walls and therefore a relatively small hotel in general terms, but everything else is spot on. One of the best - Mario understands his customers requirements to the last detail and delivers in spades
Review 41:really nothing
Review 42:Location of the hotel is perfect - comfort walking distance to beach, city center and train station. Bonassola is quiet town and very well connected with Cinque Terre villages. Hotel itself was very pleasantly furnished and gently mixed with some modern elements. Staff was friendly and always helpful. Smart solution for luggage transport from bit remote parking place.
Review 43:Quite a long, steep walk from the train station (we found out that the hotel will provide a free shuttle to/from the station). A quicker but still quite steep walk on a walking track to the main town (may be a problem for people with mobility issues but was fine for us). The wifi didn't work in the rooms.
Review 44:Beautiful view of Bonassola from the terrace of Hotel Villa Belvedere. Friendly and accommodating staff. Comfortable rooms with clean bathroom.
Review 45:The hotel is beautifully situated above Bonassola. The rooms facing the sea have a gorgeous view. Barbara, Vincento & Fabio were very welcoming and friendly, ensuring that I had a pleasant stay. I enjoyed the generous breakfast buffet.
Review 46:the road to the hotel is quite narrow, steps to seaside, but not too much, parking not so simple in the village
Review 47:fantastic seaview, kind personal, oriental furniture, mediterran garden and beautiful flowers, terrace, italian food, rich breakfast, nice cats :-)
Review 48:rooms could benefit with a/c as it gets a bit hot in the summer, having wifi in rooms rather than just common areas would also be a plus.
Review 49:lovely idyllic location overlooking the sea with excellent views from the outdoor dining area, owners superb in how helpful and friendly they are to make guests feel at home
Review 50:This was the best hotel we stayed at during our three weeks in Italy. The hotel had a delightful atmosphere created by its friendly staff, inviting sitting areas and charming decoration. The breakfast was also wonderful.
Review 51:The view is beautiful and free parking is a nice benefit.
Review 52:The free shuttle from train station very handy, friendly staff
Review 53:Nothing we didn't like
Review 54:As above. Also owner's alternative restaurant in town.
Review 55:Some difficulty getting to the hotel from the station.
Review 56:The staff, the view, the food.
Review 57:Dated decor , poor breakfast
Review 58:Views
Review 59:wonderful view, charming staff.everything was ok
Review 60:Beautiful location!
Review 61:very nice and peaceful location with nice view on sea. Very helpful staff, top service. excellent restaurant in house
Review 62:Excellent breakfasts in the garden
Review 63:No AC
Review 64:Nice surroundings Unique decor
Review 65:No lift!!!
Review 66:Staff were very friendly and helpful
Review 67:Rooms are clean but dated. No air conditioning.
Review 68:Staff are great and very helpful. Barbara was excellent source of info and very helpful and friendly. It is a family run business and they are supportive and accommodating. Bonassola (less touristy) is a great place to stay on the edge of Cinque Terre (very busy), away from crowds yet a quick walk or train ride away. Would stay there again and recommend it to friends.
Review 69:We did just fine without AC or an elevator on our visit but some folks might not like that when it is the hot summer.
Review 70:The view was absolutely the best. I could stay on the terrace forever. all the flowers and decorations on the different outside levels were wonderful. Barbara and Fabio were very nice. The food was delicious.
Review 71:Would be helpful for non-smokers, if smokers could be encouraged away from the building. Would be convenient to have Wi-Fi in the room.
Review 72:Wonderful room with sea-view from balcony. Recommended for peace and quiet, away from, but easily accessible to Cinque Terre. Restaurant food was excellent and changed on a daily basis.
Review 73:There was nothing not to like. Access on foot may be a little challenging for some .
Review 74:Communication via email was excellent. We were met at the Station on arrival and taken to the Station on our departure with friendly help with our luggage. We had been travelling for 7 weeks and the Hotel and it's Staff provided us with much needed respite in a unique and beautiful location. We would certainly recommend it.
Review 75:no wifi in the rooms
Review 76:Very friendly and helpful staff, spectacular sea views, lovely veranda, comfortable rooms, good location near cinque terre but less crowded town
Review 77:You have to be a cat lover there are quite a few that wander around if you were allergic to cats it is not the place to stay. Besides that great place in a great location.
Review 78:Great location with great view. Excellent meals in the restaurant. Very peaceful really enjoyed our stay.
Review 79:Rooms not air conditioned Not enough information on local walks (Bonassola)
Review 80:Relaxed friendly atmosphere Lovely traditional food The fantastic views of the sea Style and size of the hotel
Review 81:2-3 minutes stairs shortcut to the beach and village is ok, but could be a problem for tired legs.
Review 82:The hotel is more than 3 stars. Terrace view is unbelievable. Breakfast and dinner are very good. Fridge in room allows to keep your prosecco cold and ready for evening. Bed is comfy, linens and towels are of high class feeling. Room and bathroom are comfortably spacious. Maybe not US Hilton size, but really enough space, nothing is squeezed. It was not hot in room with garden view, so I did not miss air conditioner. Hotel offers a shuttle to train station on arrival and departure, helps a lot. In general, Bonassola is more quiet than 5 Terre, but it is very well connected to Levanto, via train or cool walking\cycle tunnel.
Review 83:It was too hot and there is not air conditioner. In August, it means itall. I was impossible to sleep and you just want to scape from yourroom. It was the only really bad thing about the hotel, but a veryimportant one. I would recommend this hotel, but never during July andAugust. They should really install AirCon.Apart form that, I felt a little rip off with the "lateral views to the sea" room. OK, there were views, but the window was so little that we where unable to enjoy them. Also, you want to keep the shutters shut in order to avoid more heath coming from the sun light. So just don't choose "lateral views" if you decide to go. One other thing I dind't like was the noise. You can listen all the other guests and even the stuff of the hotel screaming while they work (!). It all doesn't let you feel intimacy at all.
Review 84:The hotel was extremely clean and the views were breath taking. In anarea with very little offer of services, it must be almost the onlyplace where you can stay at a reasonable relationship quality/prize.
Review 85:Drive up the mountainside was a bit frightening.
Review 86:Close to the beach, Cinque Terre hiking trail and train WITHOUT being amidst the daytime tourists. Breakfast was really good (eggs, cheese, fresh croissants, fruit, etc). Rooms not air-conditioned but stayed cool even in the summer due to cliffside location.
Review 87:My husband and I loved everything about this hotel. Barbara and Vincent, the owners, work very hard to make their hotel beautiful and comfortable. It has a very peaceful feel to it. The restaurant is vegetarian friendly- there were options on the menu and Barbara offered to make something special for us if desired. The dinner was absolutely delicious! The Bonassola is also not only beautiful, but ideal for visiting Cinque Terre.
Review 88:No air conditioning. Would be nice to have for the hot July evenings
Review 89:The room had a balcony with a great view of the ocean. A good breakfast in the garden overlooking the ocean. Friendly, helpful staff.
Review 90:Everything!!! First of all one of staff, Anna, answered our questions promptly when we emailed, the view and property is gorgeous, Barbara, owner, suggested a great hike to Levanto along the hilltop and and a return through the old railroad tunnel, the beach and water was great--clearest water we have ever seen short of mountain streams--food delicious and loved our balcony!
Review 91:A little tough getting to hotel from parking lot with luggage.
Review 92:Very quaint, unbelievable views overlooking the Mediterranean. Would definitely recommend upgrading and getting a room with ocean view. Breakfast was generous and had variety of fruits, meats, cheeses, and juices. The ocean was just a 5-10 minute walk from the hotel. Also, free parking was provided.
Review 93:zero.
Review 94:EVERYTHING. The design of the hotel, the setting, the garden, the view of the bay from our room, the food. The very friendfly staff. The proximity of the train station and access to Cinque Terre and boat trips.
Review 95:Only problem might be that trains from Bonassola to Cinque Terre run every one hour,.
Review 96:Excellent choice: just 8 min from the beach at Bonasolla, with a great view and a cosy garden to relax and enjoy. Family owned, the staff is very charming and helpful. Highly recommended to visit Cinque Terre while staying out of the craziness of the tourist crowds.
Review 97:We stayed in two different rooms, the first, without balcony, looked on to a wall and was very dark.
Review 98:Friendly helpful staff and a beautiful location. The balcony rooms have amazing views.
Review 99:The door was really thin and you could hear every sound from the corridor. This was a minor problem as there seldom was people in the stairs.
Review 100:Fantastic location and a beautiful garden. The relaxing atmosphere and great view was worth every penny. Simple but clean and nice room and bathroom. The village was just what we were looking for. Calm and friendly with a great beach. Cinque terre is just a couple of minutes away.
Review 101:Wonderful hotel, atmosphere and rooms so charming, the staff and owners are fantastic, the food in the restaurant is exellent, we can only recommend this place.
Review 102:There is no air conditioning. In the evening the room cools down and there is a fan.
Review 103:We love everything about the hotel. The staff is really nice and the location is fabulous if you are coming by car or train. This is our second visit. We stayed 5 nights and wanted more!
Review 104:This is mosquito country - come prepared. Tea/coffee facilities in the rooms and aircon wouldn't go amiss.
Review 105:Very friendly and involved proprietor/chef with good staff. We had a lovely dinner in and they have a few very interesting red wines in their collection. Fantastic views from our room's balcony.
Review 106:The setting was amazing, the staff were so obliging and caring we could not have stayed in a more charming atmosphere. We were unable to open the train door while traveling to the hotel and went on one stop too far, had to call the hotel and explain our predicament and they were so helpful. The food in the restaurant was to die for and nothing was too much trouble. I would highly recommend the stay if not for the views but the charm that was created by both owners and staff
Review 107:some drawbacks already described herein, but we many of them we find advantage. For example, cats etc :-)
Review 108:hotel has exactly the atmosphere which belongs to such places as the Bonassola
Review 109:Wifi only works in the lobby and shared areas. The room was quite small, and the bed had those low, hard edges that are hidden by the bedding which make it almost impossible not to hit your shins against when you move about. No provisions in the bathroom save a soap dispenser that you're supposed to use as hand and body soap as well as shampoo. Towels were thin, shower awkward. We requested a room with an ocean view but our view was quite obstructed.
Review 110:The breakfast was reasonably good and the woman at reception was helpful in understanding how to move around the area. The place has some charming, bohemian details in its decor and has a terrace from which you can enjoy your meals with a view of the sea.
Review 111:Cats. The hotel has several that wander in and out at will (including the dining room) and lounge around on the furniture. If you're allergic, avoid this hotel...or pack plenty of antihistamines.
Review 112:The hotel grounds are a really nice place to relax in, and watch the Mediterranean.
Review 113:Hotel provided easy access to Cinque Terre without the crowds. Lovely, friendly family run hotel, very good meals available in restaurant. Lovely gardens and terraces with beautiful views of the water.
Review 114:The Villa Belvedere is an extraordinary place. Unusual and somewhat ecletic, in the best possible way. Beautiful location and view, beautiful plantings, delicious food, helpful staff and great cats! We loved the feeling of the place. It was romantic, relaxing, peaceful, inviting, and warm. The aroma of the jasmine (I think it was jasmine) and roses that lined the gravel path to the hotel was equally significant. Add to this the birds that were singing and you find the villa pleases all of the senses!
Review 115:Almost zero sound insulation. Our room was on the 1st floor and we could hear every sound coming from the lobby, restaurant, hall and the neighbouring rooms as if it was coming from our room.
Review 116:Beautiful charming hotel in a great location. Room was of a good size, clean and had everything needed. The views fromt he hotel are just amazing and the breakfast is very good. All is perfect except for one thing.
Review 117:You have to be a bit energetic to climb the steps up to to the hotel from the beach and town but its well worth the effort. Delightful gardens, friendly staff, wonderful old fashioned hotel with first class food.
Review 118:The ambience and atmosphere of the hotel are very special. One has to come and experience the space, the spirit and the location of this hotel. A wonderful, loving and positive energy emanates from it and their owners. I love this place.....
Review 119:Nice view on ocean side.
Review 120:Location was beautiful. Rustic but close to la cinque terre. Friendly staff and authentic hotel and rooms. Excellent resto in house
Review 121:Staff was great
The Fine Print
