Reviews for Nafplia Palace Hotel & Villas
Review 1:The ol-fashion style of the furniture. The poor lighting and the horrible smell of cooking in the room and in the corridor in the third floor. This comes probably from a bad ventilation system in the restaurant
Review 2:The sea view from the balcony
Review 3:no internet, only in main lobby 100 meters away, I had to go down town or in a café to have a good WLAN and that when I am waiting important e-mails for a new job. upgrade to a bigger room was nice however only a little view down on the town. No coffee machine in the room, TV program not adjusted to the screen size, head runners not to be seen. Expensive for those facts. It seemed a bit empty
Review 4:It a superb location on the mountain top very large rooms, nice private outdoor pool very nice breakfast, huge Hallways and nice Restaurant, elevator going straight to town is awesome, my daughter didn't believe me at first
Review 5:The pictures on Booking.com are not representative. They show modern rooms, but we had a room that looks more like an 80s museum. The room was ok and interesting, but this gives you the feeling they're trying to mislead you.
Review 6:Wonderful view from the balcony, friendly staff and easy to park the car.
Review 7:Even though the hotel was remodeled and the rooms were meticulous, the facility in general needs maintenance.
Review 8:First they upgraded us to a room with our own pool and not sharing as we had booked. The rooms as it was a two room suite plus large bath with a fabulous view out over the harbor.
Review 9:I loved the view are room had a jacuzzi that was nice loved the pool private shared pool. The wifi is slow and thy should take better care of there plants.
Review 10:Main building facilities "left" back in the 70s. Visible worn out signs in doors (scratches etc.), carpets, room furniture etc. Breakfast could have been better.
Review 11:Perfect location, very friendly staff. Stayed in main building: large room with excellent view.
Review 12:everything is too old - furniture, doors, walls, stinky elevators. The hotel rooms and facilities doesn't match any of the pictures provided on this web-site. The hotel doesn't worth money you're paying
Review 13:view from the balcony
Review 14:The room needs BIGGG RENOVATION. It seemed like 1960. There was a bad smell in the corridors The bathroom's marbles were ruinned and the toilet was so old with scrathes on it. No slippers available. The balcony door when it was windy made a terrible noise that you couldnt sleep. Infront of the balcony was a small garden deserted with no plants. .I regreted having paid 200 euros for a night. I dont know how it has 5 stars and it is so expensive while all the facilities look like 2 stars.
Review 15:The location and the parking facilities were very good.
Review 16:the WIFI was terrible. hardly worked in my room. breakfast was not good. old fruit, bad coffee. I left 2 glasses of old ice coffee outside my room and it took 24 hours for the cleaning service to pick up the dirty glasses.
Review 17:loved the location
Review 18:The hotel was very tied and needed significant Capex.
Review 19:The staff were great especially Georgia on front desk. Pool was also great with a brilliant view.
Review 20:Jacuzzi in room "cleans" itself with huge noise about 15 minutes after use (and startles the sleeper); the pool bar (and main pool) were closed and the book about the hotel in the room wholly confusing (bad English) - implied there was a pool at sister hotel (there's not) and offered massage but the masseuse does business delegations most days and so not available
Review 21:The room was great and the small pool outside it stunning (infinity pool); breakfast particularly good - great staff too
Review 22:I could not fault this hotel during our visit.
Review 23:The whole Ambiance of the hotel was excellent. The location is wonderful, as it is perched on the on the top of Nafplio. The staff were friendly, helpful and professional. We were given an upgrade to a bungalow with a plunge pool which demonstrated how they were concerned for customer satisfaction. This is truly an unusual, luxury hotel with easy access into Nafplio (by elevator).
Review 24:There is immediate need for restructuring. There were two elavators but only one was working and the smell inside was unbearable. The carpet was too dirty and this was indeed extremely disappointing & annoying! The room & bathroom did not seem to have been renovated since the 60's.
Review 25:The personnel was very polite & helpfull. The view was the best in town. The breakfast very nice too. The beds were comfortable & the rooms were cleaned twice per day.
Review 26:Would have been good to mention the pool situation on the website or on arrival - although it wasn't a problem in the end.
Review 27:The whole culture of the hotel made for a very relaxing holiday. The staff are extremely professional and friendly. Breakfast was delicious and beautifully presented with a wide range to suit everyone. The whole look of the hotel (someone else described as 'faded Bond villain glamour'!) was actually very much to our taste. It was immaculate and spotless everywhere and although the hotel clearly has areas that could possibly do with a little modernising it wasn't at all 'frayed around the edges' as some other reviews suggest. The position of all of the balconies mean that every room has a stunning view over the harbour and Bourzi Castle. To achieve this you are up from the beautiful town of Nafplion but the lifts that take you through the rocks to and from town make it a 5 minute walk to the main square - so a brilliant location! The main hotel pool is out of action and looks to have been this way for a while. Although this was initially disappointing there is a beautiful infinity pool available in the villas that all guests can use. For us, in the middle of August, it was essential to have a pool and this was perfect with it's views over the bay! All in all we would whole heartedly recommend the Nafplia Palace and hope to return soon.
Review 28:the breakfast the signing of the hotel (we couldn't find it by car) the entrance lift to town the edge of the bath contains water, bad design...
Review 29:My Private Pool the Jacuzzi bath the check-in services the restaurant the dinner dishes are great the view from the Pool the Pool the room services the housekeeping
Review 30:Main hotel needs urgent refurbishment and lacks atmosphere. Main pool not in use and smaller pool crowded at times.
Review 31:Upgraded to Villa rooms, which were very nice and having use of swimming pool was a benefit. Able to walk into city from hotel via a lift (10 mins).
Review 32:A majestic location (on top a historic castle on a hill overlooking Nafplion) in a beautiful city full of history (recent and antique). Very friendly staff. For serious travellers
Review 33:We booked this hotel for our first year anniversary. We had a spacious room with air-con and with large bathroom on the 3rd floor - much better than 2nd floor rooms. The sea view was great although we would have preferred to be able to see a bit of the old town as well, but the hotel was full on the 3rd floor, so we couldn't move room. Handy lifts take you to the door-step of the old town, so no walking up hill in the sun. The infinity pool was nice, although we were expecting it to be a bit bigger to accommodate for more guests. The room itself was spacious, with dark wood everywhere and switches by the bed that were a nice touch left from the 70s.
Review 34:The hotel is really old-fashioned, it looks like there was no renovation since 1980-s, so the price seems too high for such place. The pool was closed, but there was no notification about that.
Review 35:Fantastic views, varied breakfast, friendly staff
Review 36:Expensive - for the rooms you were given, only in terms of the rooms needing updating. Décor needed to be updated. Otherwise everything else was excellent.
Review 37:Staff fantastic. Position was excellent. Breakfast was great.
Review 38:View of Nafplio city and restaurant menu
Review 39:Difficult access to town.
Review 40:Great view from our room. Very nice breakfast. Staff were friendly and efficient.
Review 41:Standard rooms has not been renovated since 70's don't take
Review 42:Great view and location, breakfast super!
Review 43:the free wifi not working optimal.
Review 44:excellent staff. beautiful spot. i like the feel of 70s style hotel.
Review 45:Spectacular location. Excellent breakfast.
Review 46:The elevators smells horrible- old fashioned - no value for the rates they asked
Review 47:The staff/swimming pool
Review 48:All was very well.
Review 49:Service was excellent. Employees very nice and very accommodating.
Review 50:Food & Bev section needs total redesign
Review 51:Location and premises comfort
Review 52:deserted facilities poor staff
Review 53:The view
Review 54:Wifi wouldn't work.
Review 55:A bit overprized
Review 56:The view from the hotel was spectacular. Staff super friendly. Cozy pool area in the Bung. part of the hotel. Great Rooms
Review 57:everything else
Review 58:view
Review 59:The hotel needs major maintenance on the buildings and the pool is not functioning so using a picture of it in the website is very misleading.
Review 60:This hotel would have been stunning when it was new and still retains quality fittings and provides a very comfortable experience and stunning views over the bay and the Venetian Fort. The desk staff are very knowledgable and gave us very good information and recommendations for restaurants.
Review 61:The pictures seen on the website aren't realistic. Indeed half of the hotel has been renovated but we were initially given one of the old rooms which at best can be described as tragic. The breakfast and reception areas are nothing like the photos. They are extremely outdated and old and the breakfast was definitely subpar. Certainly not to a 5 star hotel standard.
Review 62:The staff did their best to make sure that we were satisfied with the visit
Review 63:The stuff although very kind was not up to the standards of a 5 starhotel. The breakfeast and the food were nothing special and typicalgreek tastes were absent from the buffet. The suite was spacious withmany electronic amenities but the overall impression of the hotel wasbetween 3 to 4 stars. So for 200 euros less it would be very good butfor the price they charged it was overated.
Review 64:The location in really the best in Nafplio. There is also an elevator inthe hotel that offers quick transport to the center of hte old townwithout the need to take your car. The hotel is in a very quiet locationnext to the fortress overlooking the old town and Bourtzi.
Review 65:Pricing structure is wrong. They apply same discount for one night stay with multiple stays. As a result, cancellation of the last night out of multiple stays is not be refunded. They loose customers' loyalty, and rely on the customers who never come back. I doubt they still are working on another couple of years.
Review 66:mediocre breakfast in comparison to other **** hotels. wooden area around sink was in bad condition private dipping pool was disgusting. Full of bugs, dirt and debris
Review 67:beautiful view wonderful staff
Review 68:We were upgraded to bungalow which was wonderful. Had private patiowindows that fully opened and great view.A Little learning curve withelectronics that will not appeal to everyone. I felt like royalty. Weused infinity pool and found breakfast wonderful. We had visited thistown three years ago and saw this hotel. I think they offer good valuefor the money but not for everyone. Too bad property not more occupied.I would definitely return as town is very charming.
Review 69:~the light switches/other swithces need to be labelled as its impossible to know what turns what on, i.e. curtains, do not disturb, lights etc.
Review 70:The hotel room was absolutley beautiful, the staff were fantastic and I would really recommend your hotel to any other couples/families.
Review 71:Restaurant was terrible, there is no spa although literature says there is, too many things went wrong in the rooms, highly overpriced. Hotel feels suitable for conferences, no romance.
Review 72:The position, the view
Review 73:The bathroom. Not well isolated from the main room. Here we see Design to beat Functionality. Mirror at bathroom was ...portable! It is a oity for that great and spectacular view...
Review 74:The spectaculat view and the restaurants posotion not the food...
Review 75:Dreamlike location wonderful hotel rooms View special design best hotel experience is recommended. ofir haifa
Review 76:Value for money,wi fi
Review 77:Location,location,location
Review 78:Everything else
Review 79:View
Review 80:very old room and furniture old facilities that need renovation poor breakfast
Review 81:great location great view
Review 82:No beach (5-10 minutes by car), no fitness, no spa, you shoud go up to reach the hotel
Review 83:Rooms, view, maybe best hotel in nafplia.
Review 84:Executive villa was very high tech
