Reviews for Maya Ubud Resort & Spa

Review 1:The Hotel is outstanding, beautiful gardens, super friendly staff, great activities, amazing spa, fun meal programs! The villas beautiful , decorated with traditionaand art, tasteful designs! A refuge in paradise!

Review 2:River cafe and spa off limits due to chain saw logging (the reason why we booked the Maya) so quite disapointed to get only one after hours massage and no access to pool due to excruciating noise. There should have been a compensation since it happened 3 days out of our 4 day stay.

Review 3:Staff very nice, problems solved rapidly, excellent morning buffet, stunning nature

Review 4:Heaven on earth! Stunning resort could not fault a thing. Nature walk is amazing down to the waterfall. Beautiful river. Both restaurant and cafe food was prefect. Service excellent. Views are beautiful. Loved every minute of maya.

Review 5:Someone from the villa had loud tv could hear while walking from breakfast- not very relaxing in such a peaceful atmosphere.

Review 6:The property is beautiful and architecture was stunning. Foot massage and body massage by Dwita and Ariani was amazing! My husband and I had body scrub also wonderful. We thought the 40% discount for best price deal was well worth spending for massage at hotel vs. A cheaper place in Ubud. The breakfast was high quality and delicious! Gym facility very nice as well. All staff were kind and welcoming-more than happy to help you have a wonderful experience! Also loved the espresso machine in room!! Thank you Maya Ubud for an unforgettable stay! Highly recommend this place magical!

Review 7:Everything about our stay was of a very high standard The Maya Resort is the ulimite luxury relaxation resort there is no need to leave resort .We started each day with a yoga class in the beautiful yoga pavilion follow amazing bullet breakfast lazy days by a choice 2 stunning pools .Free late afternoon activiys , guided walks were our favourite around this stunning property followed by complementary afternoon tea . There attention to detail is spot on .The day spa offers some beautiful treatments letting you take in the tranquilly of view while enjoy your treatment .We highly recommend the seafood buffet night & traditional feast night which included a traditional dance performance .One of the best resorts we have stay at .Well travelled couple in there mid 40s

Review 8:Everything, the treat, the location very near to Central Ubud, the breakfast, the food, the peace, the comon areas.... This was our best hotel stay in Bali!...

Review 9:totally overpriced ~~ the food was ordinary ~~and very very very expensive ~~~ the staff were greedy and inefficient ~~~ the place has some of mafia controlled taxi system trying to trap you in the resort in the evenings ~~~ even worse they wont let you use the free daytime transfer service after / before check out / in ~~~ the room felt much cheaper than it looked ~~ everything felt like a facade ~~~ the price was way over the top~~~ you expect not to want for anything but .... you get bare minimum ~~~ unfragrant reused flowers in the bath ~~~ and not enough to fill the bath ~~~ I just felt cheated not relaxed ~~~even with the overpriced taxis it is still better to go downtown (about a five minute drive) and pay local prices for fantastic food than eat the tasteless slop at the hotel and pay sky high prices ~~ the hotel was also overun with rude people with no manners ~~~ def never going back

Review 10:The spa and pool area are what you expect for the money ~~~I recomend using the spa only and staying somewhere else~~~ the nature is good but eaily found in other places.

Review 11:The water cooker was hidden behind the tv. A bit awkward for a high class hotel. Maybe they should make a Nespresso machine available instead of cheap instand coffee in the villas.

Review 12:The villa was great. So was breakfast. The setting of the hotel is beautiful.

Review 13:Breakfast selection could be better - fresher bread, more tasty cheese. The omelette was superb though :-)

Review 14:Beautiful grounds, great pools, spacious room, friendly staff: a great treat.

Review 15:only on the dance night open buffet food was not so good but it is nothing %99.9 !!!

Review 16:pools, free upgrade to a better room, honeymoon cake and amazing massage near river

Review 17:I had my room telephone not working for the all stay. Every night I told them it needed to be fixed, specially in case of an emergency, dice the villas can be quite far from reception. Only on last night it got changed.

Review 18:Loved it. Amazing place, really relaxing. Will surely recommend it!

Review 19:Free shuttle stops at five, a bit greedy for charging for transport after that. Dinner in the hotel was disappointing.

Review 20:Location, villa amenities, views, breakfast, staff, surprise cake for my birthday!

Review 21:-The room was a little below Bali standards of similar hotels. - the restaurant and food were the biggest disappointment. Obviously, the kitchen is the hotel's weakest point; below average food due to the single buffet option. The restaurant doesn't serve a la card menus confining guests to the below average limited buffet. Buffet was remarkably low in quality and variety. -To make it even worse, both my wife and I got food poisoning from the breakfast hot menu. After careful analysis, we believe it was the omelets that made us stay almost 2 days in bed, and were close to ruining the whole experience. The hotel doctor treated us, and we reported the incident. However, no one from Managment had the courtesy to contact us and offer us comfort. We were nice not to leave and demand anything, but I believe the hotel was total ignorant of not doing any corrective action about this. This can ruin the whole experience and going to Maya would be a health risk despite of all the Beauty of the place. - the hotel is 15 minutes from town by car. So having a breakfast somewhere else is not an option especially that it's included in the room charge. Lunch and dinner were manageable , as out door options in other hotels and restaurants are available. The breakfast, however, was our biggest problem. - If they can work on their problems, this can be one of the best hotels in Bali. Until then, we will not return to this hotel unfortunately.

Review 22:This was not our first one in Bali and we stayed for 12 days this time, and we believed the hotel facility to be paradise like. - The outdoor walks in the well maintained gardens and forest are hard to match. Activities were great. We enjoyed the 7 am yoga everyday in particular. - The meditation pad was mystical overlooking the river. Something u only see in movies. - The spa was almost magical overlooking the river so was the endless pool. - Nature walks within the huge real estate were something rarely matched in Ubud by any other hotel. - if u can manage not to eat here, and care about outdoors more than the room, do not think about any other hotel when in Ubud

Review 23:We had the breakfast buffet and the dinner buffet and neither were of great standard. The dinner in particular did not meet the standards that other parts of the hotel set.

Review 24:The location was absolutely heavenly. I can truly say it was one of the most beautiful hotels I have stayed in. The staff were very polite and accommodating.

Review 25:The grounds are spectacularly beautiful and sit on the edge of a deep river valley. It is both very sophisticated yet quite secluded and surrounded by wild countryside. The staff are warm, friendly, and helpful. The rooms were very comfortable and well furnished. Food and entertainment were of a very high standard. A beautiful place.

Review 26:1. For this price the rooms are not well kept and furniture is old. Not to say about interior design which was not even considered it seems. 2. The staff overall and communication within the resort is very poor. This goes for all levels. Again, for this price it was disappointing and made me to want to leave. 3. The quality of facilities are not same as it looks on the pictures. Everything needs to be renovated. 4. Overall looks not clean.

Review 27:1. The location of the property is great and really huge. All vegetation part is kept clean and cut. 2. The concept of the resort is nice with a variety of activities. 3. Spa menu is well developed and has many options.

Review 28:Nothing

Review 29:The friendly, nothing was too much trouble, fabulous co-ordination of the staff and the lovely smiles was a delight and best ever service we have experienced as seasoned travellers. The complex was top standard and a beautiful relaxing place to stay

Review 30:I wish the staff up front was more informed of how to get around, what to see. I took the shuttle to Ubud and really was at a loss of what to see or do. All I saw were hundreds of turist shops with the same things. A little walking tour with some information would have been invaluable, and fun...A little information of a temple, some off the beaten track store, a good little restaurant, anything. Everything to do at the desk came with a tour guide, took hours, and cost money. I felt lost and quite stupid not knowing what to do and consequently missed a lot. In defence of the girls at the desk, they were very busy with check in guests and didn't always have time to chat. I did check out library books which were wonderful to read about the culture. After I returned to Ubud a second time, I saw designer and gallery shops in Ubud in a less busy section which looked like fun. Dinner was not so great. It is O.K. but definately not outstanding. I think you should give your guests a complimentary sarong like your sister Legion hotel does. I bought two and still would have bought two. Your staff looked wonderful and were impeccable. I wanted to look as nice as them so that's why I especially like their sarongs. I'd still like two more!! Thank-you for having me as a guest at the fanciest hotel I've ever stayed at in my life

Review 31:I was overwhelmed with the accommodations. There were two different areas to go to for a pool....loved that. The spa pool is spectacular, private, and inspirational. The messages I received were the best I got in Bali anywhere. They were American prices I must say....not a deal but the best. Gift shop lady was very accommodating, polite, and patient. She was pretty and wanted it to be fun. It was. Breakfasts were out of this world....anything anyone could ask for. Library was excellent, an excellent ambiance as well. I had them as long as I wanted. I can tell you your staff is fiercly LOYAL. You are very lucky to have people like Mr. Duri and the other guides who took me around. I hope you give them something special to honor their dedication. I can only imagine your management must be excellent to have such fine people. Please let them know it made a huge difference to me.

Review 32:Everything about this hotel is right. The friendly reception, the delicious welcome drinks, the beautiful room, the fabulous pools, the restaurant, the cocktails, the very friendly staff. We stayed here for 2 nights and never left the resort because there is so much to do there. It is everything that you may expect for a resort of this price.

Review 33:Smell of dampness in bedrooms. Bus chattel to the city center stops at 5.30pm!!!

Review 34:The spa is one of the best I have been, even better than Maldives!!!! Beautiful, feeling ofl serenity and peaceful everywhere in the hotel grounds. I would not recommend this hotel for families with young kids.

Review 35:Villa room a little dark. Lodge rooms are brighter.

Review 36:Beautiful place. Every detail is perfect. I wish I had more time to enjoy the gorgeous facilities.

Review 37:First, we chose this place based on the pictures of the pool and river. Unfortunately we never even made it to the main pool because we got caught up at upper level one and spent a whole day touring the nature walk around the resort and exploring the river. You don't need to leave this place to enjoy ubud. Staff was extremely polite, it's quiet, tranquil, and enormous. Yoga every morning and a world class pastry chef (probably), I found myself often saying "I've never had better". Great escape by yourself, with a friend or recommended a signifant.

Review 38:Everything is really splendid!!! The atmosphere is so chilling ; birds singing everywhere ! While visiting this hotel, you can go deeper into the nature , relax, enjoy life and yourself! Breakfast has dishes of Balinese cuisine and that's so cute ! That every morning you can try something absolutely new and by this way to know more about the culture! Rooms have excellent size and design! The view on rice terrace is so impressing in the morning! It was our first time in ubud , so we have so many things to do , but really small time ! Due to it we were in rush and don't spend enough time at the hotel ! That's the reason why we want to come back to ubud - we want to stay whole week at MAYA!

Review 39:everything was great!

Review 40:Must try free nature walk here! Spa was great, we booked on its website and it included a wonderful lunch. Kind and helpful staffs. Food in both main restaurant and river cafe was great.

Review 41:The villas provide a perfect privacy. The second pool integrated completely in the valley surroundings is almost all the time quiet, next to it is the River Cafe providing excellent organic food and fruit drinks, the spa is just 3 min away. Spa service excellent.

Review 42:1. Actually the room is just normal, comparing to its price.

Review 43:1. It is just like a huge and beautiful nature park. It took our half day to walk around. The view from the SPA is amazing, we were just in the forest, with river passing by. 2. The staff is very nice and helpful, especially Ada, the manager of Food and Beverage. He helped me a lot with everything I want to know about this hotel. 3. It's really the happiest time to have their complimentary afternoon tea in the coffee bar.

Review 44:Not many dining options Not the hotel fault, but not really designed for family - would consider going back without kid to relax

Review 45:Interior and exterior space Staff Relaxing atmosphere

Review 46:Slight problem with house keeping. Blocked plug hole and basin leaking!!

Review 47:Simply heaven on earth! Spacious areas in the mind building and surrounded by beautifully landscaped gardens and acres of dense nature. The second pool and spa by the river makes this one of my favorite hotels. Excellent staff.

Review 48:The courtesy of the staff is unparalleled. The location is paradisiacal, with two fantastic pools and wonderful spa. The restaurant is very good, and organizes thematic meals. We ordered a "Romantic Dinner" in the deck of the upper pool that was superb.

Review 49:It was not directly close to ubud. There was a 10min drive but the hotel provided a shuttle(but only until 5pm)

Review 50:Very nice hotel. The design is very impressive and the views from the hôtel to the outside vegetation is amazing. Good hotel to relax and enjoy the pools.

Review 51:Leaving.

Review 52:The pools and the yoga classes, the room was top class, serene and large, and the bed was the best. Poolside food was alos incredibly the best.

Review 53:Excellent location Amazing SPA by the river, having a massage while listening to the river flowing Excellent food This hotel arrangement gives you the relaxing feeling of being alone I have travelled in more than 60 countries around the world. This is one place I would defitely visit again

Review 54:King size bed being actually two mattresses next to each other... Not at that price! Bed linens, would expect a duvet.

Review 55:Exceptionnal setting in the middle of a valley. Understated luxury, the hotel is very well integrated in the landscape. Far from aseptised 5 stars. Nice staffs

Review 56:I liked everything... very very much

Review 57:The grounds are breathtakingly beautiful, the staff are so nice and friendly. There is a shuttle bus service into town. The spa is lovely, as are the restaurants.

Review 58:The guy who helped us checked in was not being clear on why kids are not allowed in the River Restaurant, first he used safety as the reason but when we said we will take full responsibility he said it was because of the noise..so obviously this place is not child friendly. And there is no metered taxi in Ubud, you'll have to pay $8 for a 2km trip one way, so $16 total..if we didnt bring the kids it would probably be okay to walk.

Review 59:Daily activities, free shuttle and room was beautiful with a nice big tub to relax

Review 60:Maya ubud is great choice to one who want to escape from busy schedule and crowded places. Territory is huge. Personal is extremely helpful. Rooms are clean. Spa is a little bit expensive but is totally worth it. Then every day u can choose some activity - yoga, Tai Chi, nature walking etc. Or u can discover ubud by yourself. Anyway I will be happy to be back.

Review 61:Garden villa Pools, spa and massage Great dinner, menu, breakfast Evening entertainment Tennis court Morning Yoga Excellent service Staff is really helpful, speak good English

Review 62:We stayed for five nights at Maya Ubud Resort for the second time and we spend beautiful vacations. Thanks for Maya Ubud and and many thanks for all staffs.

Review 63:We loved it! The hotel is spectacular with all the services provided, we enjoyed the food, the individual cooking classes, nature walk down to the river was really amazing! They have yoga classes early in the morning where you can relax, exercise while listening the sounds of the nature. We enjoyed our villa with private pool, everything is relaxing. The staff is truly helpful. Definitely will reccomend this hotel!!

Review 64:We stayed in a villa. The ambience was great but the ease of access was not at all there. There is a narrow steps to the villa and a few more steps to get in to the villa. Inside the bathroom has gutter that was filled with pebbles and easily stumbled especially with the thin slippers they provide. The stub is quite low. If you are young and healthy, it's nice and fun room. If you are a bit mature, you may be better off staying the rooms instead of villas that are closer to the lobby and the restaurant as well as equipped with an elevator.

Review 65:I like that the staff are all attentive and very happy to serve. The location is close enough to the center of Ubud but far enough to enjoy the nature and repose away from the busy street noises.

Review 66:It is an excellent place but of course you pay for it and therefore you expect such hotel with such service, therefore I would say the value for money is OK. Free shuttle times to Ubud could be extended. There is room for improvement for tea time (pastries selection, magazines, etc.).

Review 67:You have a forest, river, even a small waterfall. The nature walk around the hotel is amazing, spa and the restaurants are superb. Breakfast was great.

Review 68:Staff not very good at what they do Restaurants overpriced and food very average - with the venues, it could have been so good, but they had failed... Spa was ok, but was lacking as well didn't quite get there

Review 69:The views The rooms The location

Review 70:we chose room based on picture ricefield, and we asked silent room we got noisy room when we complained, we were told we would get room with side view on rice field, we got room at tennis field. we arrived from westin nusadua. I missed the perfect service and smile we had there. in maya core staff restaurant is good, but others have to learn . getting smile from gardner was hard, sometimes confusion, i think staff asked 3 times about price we paid for paintings. Again, fantastic location, but for this price, we expected westin quality

Review 71:beautifull nature, breathtaking location

Review 72:The bed was a bit firm for our liking and if the private plunge pool would of been heated it would of been perfect

Review 73:Maya Ubud is a little slice of heaven! It has to be seen to be believed. Absolutely amazing and we would return in a heartbeat!

Review 74:We have just returned from 3 nights at Maya Ubud as part of our 11 day holiday in Bali. The Resort was completely beautiful & set in amongst immaculately kept tropical gardens running down to a river with gorgeous infinity pools on the upper & lower levels. We specially loved the River café & pool down by the river, serene & restful. The Spa was stunning set in private villas right on the rivers edge so while you are lying there, having your divine treatment, you can hear the sound of the river running past. The food at all 3 restaurants was stunning, great buffet breakfast with huge variety & then the option of a different themed buffet dinner each evening with entertainment or you had the option of the delicious Asian restaurant. The staff were superb & looked after us beautifully, catering for our every need. It was really close to Ubud, only about 5 mins but far enough away from the hustle & bustle & busy-ness. We hired one of the resort taxis on 2 occasions & Suganda drove us around Ubud to specific locations we wanted to visit & then on the last day, to the airport, great service. Our Deluxe Pool Villa was divine - quiet, private, loved the outdoor shower & big comfortable bed. We were very sad to leave & would love to return one day. In the meantime will be telling all our friends & family ! Thank you Maya Ubud.

Review 75:Over priced

Review 76:Location is excellent. Walking through the nature "the nature walk" was very good. It's a secluded place where you can just stay and forget the rest of the world

Review 77:Swimming pools too cold to swim in. Would expect the hotel to find a solution for this. Not really a hotel to bring kiids. More a hotel for honeymooners or couples

Review 78:Beautiful location, nice set up. Excellent food.

Review 79:English wasn't easily understood Lack of decision making amongst reception staff - depending on who you spoke to concrete drill all day outside my villa - for 2 days - with no warning - and no apology when i bought it up

Review 80:staff were friendly food was excellent

Review 81:Everything was charged as an extra (and very expensive). That offer hourly taxi from and to the hotel/ubud central, but only until 5pm (when the heat comes down and the town gets alive).

Review 82:The atmosphere of the hotel, amazing garden, really quiet.

Review 83:Incompetence on front desk- problems booking day trips. Lack of communication meant we missed out on a trip we really wanted to do. Expensive dinner- need more range of dining options. Spa was also very expensive

Review 84:Breakfast. Nature- location Cooking class Pools-view Driver and pick up from airport

Review 85:Nothing.

Review 86:Excellent resort, beautiful surroundings, perfect for relaxation.

Review 87:No fresh Vila. Smells no to fresh.

Review 88:Swimming pool

Review 89:Fantastic Hotel I will recommend this to anybody. Staff and facilities are absolutely breathtaking.

Review 90:Poor internet

Review 91:Very good property, spa and facilities, polite staff

Review 92:Some noise from nearby road in villa line 400 and 500's

Review 93:Villas Tropical surrounding forest and padi fields

Review 105:no complaints at all. strangest thing were any negative comments from others!

Review 106:fantastic resort, luxury and design in keeping with Bali. elegant.

Review 107:Amazing setting in between jungle and rice paddies. Everything was perfect, a little paradise :-)

Review 108:small room

Review 109:Beautiful place

Review 110:We love everything about Maya.

Review 111:Leaving

Review 112:The Yoga classes The shuttle The river / grounds The kids playing tennis

Review 113:Every thing is perfect.

Review 114:The resort is very big. You a client here not a human being.

Review 115:Wat een domein! Fantastisch

Review 116:The swimming pool the green area etc its like paradise

Review 117:room is small

Review 118:the whole environment

Review 119:room

Review 120:enviroment

Review 121:I found the breakfast very basic ,and the other meals to be over priced.

Review 122:Very friendly staff

Review 123:Evening tea was very limited variety snack and drink.

Review 124:Everthing , staff very helpfull
