Reviews for Naya Gawana Resort and Spa
Review 1:Spa was way too expensive and they offered no discounts. As there were no other options I wouldn't stay here again as I need my massage every day! Little old and tired, needs some sprusing up. Entrance in is very underwhelming
Review 2:The Infinity Pool made this hotel. Staff were lovely
Review 3:As honeymooners, we booked a Mangrove Suite and they first checked us in a Bayview. I had to show my booking confirmation to get the good room, without any excuse for the staff (all trainees by the way, also in the restaurant). Private pool of the suite not so clean.
Review 4:Very restful hotel with an amazing spa (best Balinese massage of our journey in Bali). Rooms are very spacious and very well stuffed and decorated. Perfect breakfast with on-demand omelets and plenty of fresh Indonesian fruits.
Review 5:The number of Mosquitos even in the netted bed. We spend 20 mins swatting middies in bed before sleeping. They could plant shrubs or offer natural aromatherapy oils to fend them off the room.
Review 6:The room and bathroom were very clean and we love having thermal water coming out of the tap (pardon the sulphuric odour!)
Review 7:Best snorkeling we've ever done. Absolutely spectacular. Beautiful Bayview Suite with outdoor bathroom and private garden. Lots of options for tours/activities.
Review 8:Having to leave! I will be back.
Review 9:Everything.... especially the incredibly beautiful and helpful staff. The hot tub spa and the infinity pool, the massages in the resorts spa, the diving with the on-site dive company.... the food .... 04 BayView Villa (with its enclosed backyard) ... heaven really
Review 10:Trying to find fault with this place would be like trying to criticise an angel.
Review 11:Everything! We stayed in one of the bay view rooms and it was perfection. All the staff were super friendly and willing to help you with anything. The buffet breakfast had a great variety and was delicious.
Review 12:Lack of treatments at spa. Cost of food and beverages, especially given the seclusion of the resort, we simply had no choice but to pay the hotel prices
Review 13:Location
Review 14:Even though reservation was for 3 people, bed was prepared only for 2 people - make sure to check this when making a reservation Location is really nice & peaceful but it takes quite a while to get there and the last part of the road is in quite a bad shape
Review 15:Quiet & peaceful place in a beautiful location Nice & comfortable rooms Very nice pool A lot of activities available, snorkeling highly recommended
Review 16:The seclusion means that there is not much nearby except a couple of other resorts if you want variety in menu, etc. But there are a few small shops in nearby village for some items. Otherwise its about a 15 minute drive to other resources.
Review 17:This resort is paradise, complete with all the beautiful grounds, food and service you could want, at moderate prices. Our BayView room was gorgeous, comfortable bed, lovely porch with view (though just a glimpse of the bay) and a swing, plus a private back yard which includes the luxurious outdoor bathroom. We stayed five nights here and had a few injuries due to a recent scooter accident. The staff so graciously arranged for a massage expert who game by frequently to check on us. They delivered many meals to our room. When we went to the restaurant the staff was always so concerned to ask how we were doing. The chefs easily accommodated our veg needs and made delicious food for us. The infinity pool is large and deep and has a great view. There are many activities one can arrange here, such as forest treks, jeep and water safaris, birdwatching, snorkeling and diving. We did the most of them and were treated so understandingly. There are also kayaks and bikes for rent, although we were not able to take advantage of these. The dive shop is on-site and diving and snorkeling take place at Menjangan Island, a magnificent spot for both. The reef is lush and the fish spectacular. The dive master was very sensitive to the injury and all went well as a result. The forest and mangrove areas of the park are easily accessible and the scenery and birds are wonderful. These guides, too, were arranged by the resort and very knowledgeable. Our experience here was magnificent and we highly recommend it.
Review 18:Quiet resort. Not cheap, but worth. Great place for diving at Menjangan! Dont expect much to do there except diving and doing nothing. Great place! You will love the open bathroom. One thing your should know: There are mosquitos...
Review 19:The Mgt haven't trained the staff well and the welcome was poor. Even though we stayed five nights, and it isn't a large hotel, no attempt was ever made to find out how we felt and the manager avoided us on a number of occasions. The website suggests that properties have sea views but they don't. The Lumbung suites have inadequate (poorly located) air-con, very limited clothes storage space. Very poor range of alcoholic drinks and not much knowledge of them either by bar staff.
Review 20:The swimming pool and the link to the diving school (snorkeling) and the proximity to the National Park. The junior staff were very friendly and keen to please. Food was pleasant.
Review 21:would like to have had a small map of the resort and immediate surrounds, and a list and description of the massages.
Review 22:Quiet, beautiful rooms and location, excellent food, great swimming pool.
Review 23:You need a car to get around if you stay longer; we had one.
Review 24:Breakfast and Mangrove suite are excellent. Padi base on premises.
Review 25:Absolutely everything
Review 26:Rooms and commodities look Very cheap.
Review 27:Swimming pool Breakfast
Review 28:hard to find anything
Review 29:view
Review 30:i really wish they understand halal food for us to enjoy the meal. but no complaint
Review 31:the suite the staff
Review 32:All good
Review 33:Nice and calm place. Perfekt for romantic couples that want to relax
Review 34:Excellent location Great snorkelling off the island
Review 35:almost 5 hours from Denpasar. Has a very limited choice for breakfast. We dine at the hotel, the taste was delicious.
Review 36:We took Lumbung Suite, it was Spacious, Nice and unique natural design, amazing tranquillity location. The hotel has its own jetty which is more comfortable to go for Menjangan island. Menjangan island is very amazing. Actually Menjangan island is the reason why we stay here. The hotel provide their snorkling program tp kami ambil di luar krn lbh mur-mer (wonderfulmenjangan.com).
Review 37:No WIFI during two days Breakfast not very rich and to light for such a quality and price hotel Hotel expensive for a fair service
Review 38:Quality of the bungalows and swimming pool
Review 39:The Bay View and standard bungalows are nice but basic, lack the character and privacy of the older Lumbung Villas & Mangrove Suites. The tropical garden in this area is more a future plan than current reality, but will be good when established. The gardens elsewhere on the property are lovely. The Dive Centre seems well run and I'm sure the dive trips and courses are great. If you're snorkeling though (we were) it would be worth checking out local charter options instead. Our guide did his best, but we were essentially tagged on to a dive trip, and had to follow their schedule & locations. The first stop in particular was rough water and not suited to snorkeling with a child. Mangrove suites are in the mangroves... so mosquitoes abound.
Review 40:One dip in the amazing infinity pool and any tension melts away! A starlit evening in the smaller hot spring pool was one of our trip's highlights too. The area's natural environment is very different from elsewhere in Bali - much drier (in October) - giving Naya Gawana an almost African safari lodge type feel. The animal-spotting tour was great, included a remote temple where Macaque monkeys played around people praying, and watching rare black monkeys in the trees. We were booked in one of the new Bay View suites - lovely views. We were then upgraded to a Mangrove Suite for the last two nights as an online error had led to a double-booking. Really impressed with how management handled this, made the move easy - and the Mangrove Suites are lovely and so private; well worth paying a little extra for if you can. We would do this next time. They also gave us a free spa treatment so can recommend the spa - overlooks the water, so peaceful, reasonably priced. The location is remote so you don't easily have the choice to eat elsewhere - but luckily the restaurant is great.
Review 41:It was quite isolated, and many items that were on the menu were not available.
Review 42:The location was great for those that wish to go snorkelling at the stunning Menjangan Island.
Review 43:The very new bungalow (we were the first who could stay there) are really nice especially the outdoor bathroom is a stay worth... Only some very small details should maybe be done. No sitting possibilities for the amount of People in the backyard, drinking glasses, safetyness of the Windows
Review 44:The Main Building, the Great infinity Pool, the beautyful Restaurant... It gave us the feeling of beeing on a real special feeling as it is. To the Stuff a Big and warm thank you for everything you have done for us...
Review 45:Just too bad that it was very windy that day and that there was no beach, you always had to rent a boat to go out for snorkling or swimming.
Review 46:Staff was extremely friendly. Good restaurant.Beautiful pool. Highlty recommended!
Review 47:I know the concept is to back to nature but I think TV is required for seing news or for kids while we,re at suite
Review 48:The staffs are very friendly, the view is beautiful and the snorkeling journey was outstanding! Menjangan island is one of the best reef in the world you must see...
Review 49:no beach very isolated location frog in the room:)
Review 50:great pool great villa
Review 51:bumpy drive leading to the resort; some pavements hard to walk on; the area in front of bay view villas not covered by grass
Review 52:the whole experience
The Fine Print
