Reviews for Relais Borgo Petrognano

Review 1:Loved the tower room!!! One of the coolest place we ever stayed at. Amazing views all around. Made it our home base with convenient location to our other destinations. The restaurant next door was so romantic with wonderful food! Breakfast was good, coffee great, the pool refreshing. We were on our honeymoon and loved it here!

Review 2:The service was disappointing overall in comparison to other Relais we stayed in. After we arrived our passports were copied and the room was shown to us. No help was offered with the luggage. No further information was given also nothing on the breakfast times. In the morning we were given a rather bad look when we came to have breakfast at 10. Overall we were missing the Italian hospitality which we found in both lower but also far higher priced relais with a same business model.

Review 3:The location itself is nice; good view and a nice garden + pool. The rooms are simple but the furniture fits in the overall style. The bathroom was new and very clean.

Review 4:Internet connection did not work most of the time...

Review 5:The hotel is beautifully restored, the swimming pool was great for the two y.o. girl and the people were very friendly.

Review 6:The price. It was far too expensive for what it was. There was a tiny window in the room and It was extremely basic. The wifi was available on the breakfast terrace only.

Review 7:The pool, the gardens, the garage, the lovely restaurant next door they recommended, the breakfast terrace, the lovely views of the Tuscan countryside.

Review 8:Only two minor things on my wish list - wish the internet worked better in the rooms, but am not sure they can do much about this due to the thick, stone walls! Would also be nice if lunch/dinner was available just in case you wanted to spend the day relaxing at the Borgo. But plenty of place in the towns you visit to pick up sandwiches, cheese, wine, etc. to bring back and guest kitchen is available to store and prepare snacks!

Review 9:The Borgo and surrounding countryside is beautiful and the views are amazing!. It was worth it just to sit on the terrace and look out - gorgeous! We also really enjoyed the pool, and breakfast was delicious. Our entire stay was very relaxing and just what we were looking for. It is also a great location to explore Tuscany with places like San Gimignano, Greve and Sienna all within 30-45 minutes of relatively easy and scenic driving. The staff and Silvia, the owner, were very helpful and accommodating (although we wish they were around more often)! We would definitely recommend the Borgo to friends and family travelling to Tuscany.

Review 10:I would just extend the reach of wi-fi to all rooms.

Review 11:The whole complex is well refurbished, has a nice view of the surrounding landscape with San Gimignano on the horizon. I loved the rich breakfast on the terrace. A place to return.

Review 12:The hotel is very luxurious but like the others said, after 7 in the evening you are alone and it becomes more like a hostel where you can use the communal kitchen. however it is extremely quiet and makes for a good opportunity to chat with some other guests.

Review 13:The place is beautiful, our room was large but no view. The pool area is fantastic. Very clean and very good breakfast. The staff are very friendly

Review 14:Nature prevails, a lot of bugs around and you could not open the windows. Not a real problem, but you should know... No reading lights for the bed.

Review 15:Buildings, terrace and garden Tower Room (Torre) was impressive, three levels, beautiful view and very quiet, but you have to like it: basically open bath room and a lot of up and downstairs. We liked it :-) pretty romantic Garage

Review 16:rooms could be a big more clean. the bathroom was big but the shower was very very small. living room had a kitchen but important tools where missing like bottle opener and wine glasses... reception was closed most of the time and the lady was kind but didnt volentear information unless you asked.

Review 17:view and location were perfect. hotel was very nice and quiete. rooms were more like zimer- big and comfort. big bathroom and bedroom plus living room. breakfast was nice lot of parking place and a nice pull we didnt use

Review 18:The staff could have been more forthcoming with recommendations in the area! No English news program on the TV

Review 19:Just about everything in this wonderfully located Relais was near perfect! The suite of two rooms and a small living room was ideal for us 3 mature guests! We would most definitely return!

Review 20:Well one issue. We had a scorpion in the room. They are harmless but my sister found it and scared the heck out if her.

Review 21:The senery food and accommodations great. Location perfect and yes they have fresh fruit on there premises.

Review 22:Stairs with heavy bags was difficult

Review 23:Beautiful accommodation in scenic surroundings. Had a wonderful 8 days and enjoyed it all. Very relaxing place to stay.

Review 24:- Very small TV in room - Staff was nice but got quickly overwhelmed - No wifi in rooms because of thick walls (as in many hotels in the region)

Review 25:- Very nice and quaint property and grounds, well decorated and kept - Intimate feeling, few rooms - Nice swimming pool - Mini kitchen available at any time - Close to San Gimignano and at an equal distance to other towns of the region - 20 min to Badia (top class restaurants)

Review 26:Without car rental you are stuffed! Taxis are a rip off and the was nowhere to get lunch or dinner. I'm guessing this is just for weddings. We had to walk 4km into town to try and get some food.

Review 27:The view and the room was great

Review 28:If you didn't have a car you were stuck here. No shuttle to bus stops. Taxi were available but expensive.

Review 29:The views were specatcular and ambiance was excellent! Our 2 bedroom suite was great and very comfortable! The front desk staff Debora and Samuel were very helpful and assisted us in everyway they could inclusing driving us to and picking us up from the bus stop. They were great!

Review 30:Would help to improve the wireless internet signal and add a few more basic items to the self serve kitchen.

Review 31:Beautiful views in such a great location which made it very accessible to the villages and towns around Tuscany. The rooms were well kept, the staff were very helpful and the garden and pool area were perfect.

Review 32:good view of house garden and nearby, nice arrangement of the house.

Review 33:Absolutely nothing

Review 34:An incredible view and very friendly people who run the place.

Review 35:A more modern coffe machine would be good.

Review 36:Location is perfect. Pool is fantastic. Staff is helpful and nice.

Review 37:Not enough chairs around the pool with shades. No wifi in rooms

Review 38:Nice lounge at the pool! Lovely town Barberinon val d Elsa nearby!

Review 39:Perfect relaxing place, great people!

Review 40:location, cleanness, bed, room, breakfast, view, staff, food from nearby restaurant,,,,,simply perfect

Review 41:No wi-fi in the rooms and bad connection in public area..

Review 42:view sleeping location terace

Review 43:check in and check out limited time (morning & evening)

Review 44:quietness cleanliness nature swimming pool food

Review 45:Beautiful place and surroundings. Great room and bathroom. Good breakfast.

Review 46:That we only stayed 3 nights.

Review 47:The atmosphere and culture of Relais Borgo Petrognano was divine. Perfect for couples on a romantic get away. Very peaceful, but do not expect much tourism resources. This is a place to truly enjoy the country, reflect and get lost. The vineyard Restaurant across to road is also superb.

Review 48:No electric kettle and tea/coffee making facilities in room. Fridge in room does not work.

Review 49:Beautiful historic building tastefully upgraded and furnished. Room overlooks serene Tuscany countryside. Rose terrace, good sized pool, sumptuous breakfast selection. Courteous and welcoming staff.

Review 50:Very nice place in a very nice location. Quiet and a beautiful view from de pool area. Very good place for relaxing. San Gimignano can be seen in sunny days. True Toscan feeling. Recomend it 100%.

Review 51:Our bathroom was not clean at all - somebody else's hair everywhere. In terms of comfort the main downside was the heating or, rather, the lack thereof. We spent the night with 8c degrees inside the room... One of the coldest nights in our lives!

Review 52:Stunning views of the Tuscan hills. Good breakfast. Welcoming staff.

Review 53:A little bit hard to find without a gps.

Review 54:Nice big house, we stayed during non peak season, so not many guests andcould enjoy the whole big house. Nice buffet breakfast. Beautifulscenery from outside.

Review 55:wi -fi signal was not strong enough in the room. The courtains in a bath should be replaced.

Review 56:-the beds in rooms were perfect. -the decoration of the rooms and of a hotel is above normal standard -we liked the past of the location of this hotel -the quietness around the hotel at the evening and during the night, - the breakfast was very good with cakes, hams.... -The magnificient view from the terace of hotel (san gimignano)

Review 57:Zero service. Staff is only there to check you in 3-6pm and for breakfast/checkout 7-10am. Otherwise you are totally on your own.

Review 58:Beautiful five star style accommodations. Amazing views. Rustic yet luxurious.

Review 59:Leaving!

Review 60:Great view and compound. Many spots to enjoy the sunset. Very privaterooms - we felt like we had the place to ourselves most of the time.

Review 61:It is an absolutely beautiful place. We watched the sunset beside the swimming pool with a bottle of red wine. It is one of the most memorable moment in my life.

Review 62:The setting was beautiful stunning views and the location was perfect for exploring. Breakfast was ample lovely pastries etc. We were able to use the pool even though it was out of season but still in the 20's so warm enough. Samuale the manager there was very helpful and gave us recommendations for trattorias in the area that were really authentic. we are definately coming back as we got engaged in San Gimagnano (which youcan see in the distance) and we've already planned to get married at the b&b as we loved it so much. definate novelty was the private underground garage that had a tunnel back up into the property! Photos just dont do this place justice!

Review 63:The wasps at breakfast were a big deterrent to sitting outside and enjoying the amazing view of the countryside. Recommend the buffet be set up inside only at least. Our room was supposedly self contained with cooking facilities but we had to ask for a sharp knife and fry pan as we wanted to prepare some of our own meals. We also wanted to have a glass of wine but there were no wine glasses provided, even in one of our rooms which had a wine cooling fridge.

Review 64:The location was absolutely beautiful and close enough to other interesting locations but far enough to feel secluded and private. The view and atmosphere was from a fantasy. The styling of the accommodation was luxurious and gentle. The gardens were perfectly relaxing especially on sunset. The spread for breakfast was very tasty with sufficient diversity. Having the ability to request a cafe latte or cappuccino was also a nice touch. We only booked the junior suite and one other room and upon arrival the staff kindly helped us reserve an additional room at last minute to better suit our small groups needs.

Review 65:Very relaxing villa. Excellent full European breakfast. Awesomecountryside restaurant next door. Best gnocchi I've had in Italy, and I am very critical of gnocchi dishes. Staff at the villa are topnotch. Feels like home.

Review 66:Just a little far from the city of Florence, but the location is soo beautiful (you need a car). Weak wi-fi signal in some areas, but who cares in a place like this?

Review 67:13th century residence completely renovated with great taste in Tuscan style. Fantastic staff, gorgeous rooms, beautiful and peaceful garden, great pool, complimentary breakfast, underground parking garage. Located in the middle of Tuscan countryside, offers absolutely stunning views of vineyards everywhere. We got great recommendations for nearby authentic Tuscan restaurants.

Review 68:unfortunately not very well equipped, no a personal atmosphere at all, no flowers in the garden, I would not recommend to stay, especially for that price!

Review 69:Absolutely peaceful and beautiful place to stay...From the gardens to the pool side, to the spa to the rooms, to the terrace view, the place is gourgeous...The Borgo Petrognano is a place to return...Perfect place to relax and forget about the world!!! Borgo Petrognano is the perfect location to discover the beauties of the Toscan countryside, villages and towns...Great restaurants nearby...Excellent place to stay!

Review 70:It is a shame not to be able to have dinner in this beautiful old farm but you have wonderful restaurants near by. Go to La Fattoria and eat the best roadtbeef ever but do not go to the restaurant close to the hotel, it looks good because in the middle of the vineyards but it is not!!

Review 71:the wonderful location, view, garden. we took the executive suite which was extremely spacious but at the same time cosy. It is a real romantic, quiet, charming getaway which makes you really feel you are in the heart of Tuscany. True relaxation!

Review 72:The pool was so c-c-cold! Also, our gps made us arrive from the sideother than the one going through Barberino Val d'Elsa and we drovethrough hair-rising, narrow roads which had us think we were really inthe middle of nowhere; it is much better to arrive from the little townas you can see the sign and driveway of the Borgo when arriving fromthat side. A larger sign pointing to the entrance might be helpful.

Review 73:Beautiful grounds and large nicely-appointed rooms, very clean, wellmaintained, with modern amenities. Nice cool garage. Best shower! Goodbase from which to visit Florence, Siena and San Gimignano. Thecomplementary glass of wine on the terrasse in the early evening wasvery appreciated, as well as the breakfast which was the best we had inItaly. Luisa was also very helpful and friendly. This was the nicestplace we stayed at in our whole trip through Northern Italy, and werecommend it without hesitation.

Review 74:The hotel is very isolated-15'driving from the nearest village -Barberino.noone in the reception desk after 6p.m .they gave us no mapsor any information about Tuscany .no fridge in the room ,no bottledwater,no room service no snaks . we stayed for 4 days and theydidn't change sheets or towels.

Review 75:Hotel newrly renovated.the room was spacious and clean.beautiful gardens

Review 76:Roberta and her Staff were excellent. (especially Luisa) They provided anything and everything to make for a perfect stay. We didn't ask for anything but they just couldn't do enough for their Guests. It was a very special experience and we feel very fortunate to have stayed here for 5 nights.

Review 77:Prepare for the difficulties to find it!

Review 78:Shortly: Excellent, historic, sophisticated, comfortable, spacious,.Longer. Friendly, smiling. Lovely personal. Delicious breakfast withfresh fruits in a historic room with quiet music. Excellent apartmentwith spacious rooms. Large, comfortable beds. Huge bathroom (withpersonal Jacuzzi inside)! Covered garage with a covered corridor to thereception. Sophisticated furniture and lights (Outside as well).Fireplaces as decoration in the breakfast room. And if you are lucky inyour apartment, as well. Etc., etc. I hope we can return! I recommend ithighly for everyone!!! Guests from Hungary

Review 79:Ideal Location within Tuscany (extremely quiet and in the middle of everything), lovely views (from and also towards the relais), great "shabby chic" design and good breakfast! Also the garage is a big plus. We will come again!

Review 80:Nothing!

Review 81:What a beautiful and comfortable place! The rooms were lovely with fantastic views of the Tuscan countryside. The terrace was a wonderful place to have a glass of wine, relax and start or end our day. It was too chilly to swim but the pool area was fantastic. Luisa and the entire staff were welcoming, friendly and attentive. The location couldn't be better -- it is about the same distance to both Siena and Florence.

Review 82:We can not imagine there was something wrong in this beautiful place!

Review 83:The location was perfect, everything was very clean. Beautyful gardenwith overwhelming view. A big underground garage, especially in summer isa great advantage. Staf very helpful giving information about dinner enother opportunities.

Review 84:During our stay, the WiFi did not work in the room, only in the lobby. In addition, the place is quite isolated, and if you want to go out at night to eat and hang out, you have to go somewhere else. Nevertheless, a charming and romantic place!

Excellent location of the hotel, in the center of Tuscany, a short drive from Siena, Florence, Chianti, San Gimignano and more. The hotel looks like a romantic castle, beautiful, stone-built, with beautiful flowered courtyard, lovely terrace, pool and enchanting views from all sides. Large and spacious room, beautiful, with amazing views. The bed, shower and bathroom are large and comfortable. Breakfast is modest but delicious, the hostess was very gracious.

Review 86:Fantastic surroundings at countryside.

Review 87:Nothing

Review 91:Excellent place to relax and visit Tuscany. Barberino di Val d'Elsa has great restaurants. Perfect !!!

Review 92:Expensive for what you get. Soulless, no atmosphere. No staff around, poor service. Nothing special.

Review 93:Not much.

Review 94:Serenity
