Reviews for Ilion Hotel

Review 1:Really nothing to complain about. The beds could be a little softer I suppose, but we always slept alright.

Review 2:The staff was very friendly, and there was usually someone available who spoke enough English to get you whatever you needed. They carried our bags up their very narrow, very steep steps (life savers!) and when we were the only two visitors in the hotel they made breakfast just for us! The location is great, right in the middle of old town Nafplio. When we first got there we were put into a room on the first floor, but a couple days later when a room with a belcony became available they gave us the option to upgrade free of charge and moved all our bags AGAIN! It was lovely.

Review 3:We ordered the economy room but it didn't have "real" window (the only windows in the room opened inside the house). I think that this should be mentioned in the description. So it was ok for 1-night stay, but if you stay for a longer time - I'm not sure it's the right choice.

Review 4:Interesting hotel in the center of the city. Nice breakfast and helpful personnel. Cosy small patio :) (if you find it :)). Close to city center.

Review 5:The owner's son didn't seem to have much interest in doing anything other than chain smoking in the reception whilst texting his girlfriend.

Review 6:The decor you will either love or hate...we loved it. Our room had a balcony and the shower was hot. Great location just off the main shopping street...so not too noisy. Breakfast was tasty and the woman preparing it for you was ever so kind, always offering you more coffee or fresh orange juice.

Review 7:Locks on doors were hard to work. Wasn't in the description of the number of stairs (30 to get to the lobby & 36 to get to our room)

Review 8:Breakfast was great as was the staff. Jacuzzi tub was a plus. View was great.

Review 9:Nothing

Review 10:Perfect location, great breakfast, friendly and helpful staff. They set up the baby crib in advance, and emailed to let us know. Really couldn't have had a better experience!

Review 11:Difficult to find parking in public areas. Several steps to get the hotel so not good for people with walking difficulties, but it could not be otherwise if you want to stay in such a central old building.

Review 12:Very nice staff, the lady who organised the breakfast has even done a laundry for us. Quirky rooms with lovely furniture. Excellent breakfast. Very good location.

Review 13:Not suitable for guests who struggle with steps. As steps from outside to get to hotel and no lift. We had no problems though and would go back tomorrow.

Review 14:Excellent location in the old part of the town. Very old building so full of character and sloping floors! Had a room with a bath - luxury in Greece! Good WiFi.

Review 15:We had booked a different room than the one we stayed. We've been downgraded to a room without windows without being asked and with same price.

Review 16:Nice location and staff

Review 17:The room was very spacious and the shower was big (for Greece!) and hot, very modern. The room was also very quiet and well air-conditioned and peaceful. It was perfect for what we needed in Nafplio.

Review 18:The room decoration is not so great and the air conditioner is not strong.

Review 19:The breakfast area is charming. The hotel location is great but our room was loud and you can hear everyone passing and walking above. The bathroom is clean and shower is great.

Review 20:We are in our early 70's and had no problem with the steps leading up to the Ilion or inside the hotel. However, someone with mobility problems would find it difficult. There is nothing much that the Ilion can do as it is located in the Old Town and it is an old mansion. People who cannot manage stairs should rather look for something in the new part of town.

Review 21:We enjoyed the decor, the wifi and the excellent breakfast. The selection of delicious teas was wonderful, as well as the fresh orange juice with its orange squeezer. We loved the Greek breakfast selection combined with the European touches.

Review 22:The wireless was not amazing, but it was free. It worked better in common areas. The stairs were very steep and not well maintained.

Review 23:The walls were covered in amazing frescoes, the furniture was lovely, and we got upgraded to an amazing room with our own courtyard.

Review 24:Not bad for a backpacker hotel, but the rooms and furniture were weirdly painted with floating cherubs and bathing nymphs. I suppose it could be a plus, if you're into those sorts of things, but to us it seem intrusive and contrived. Our room which was a cottage, away from the rest, in a small courtyard, was quiet, but tiny and outdated, with hardly any electrical outlets. Bathroom was ridiculously small.

Review 25:Great location and wonderful breakfast. Good price for a place in the old city.

Review 26:The only one thing was the wifi was a bit slow but this was no real problem

Review 27:The staff were welcoming and very good at recommendations of bars and restaurants The Hotel is in a very quiet part of town no roads so no cars and motorbikes. Rooms were great if you like cherubs...

Review 28:Plumbing issues. No duvet cover. Just scratchy fleece covered with thin white sheet for blanket (common practice in greece - but at cheaper pensions). The sound issue - every little creak can be heard.

Review 29:Breakfast and location was excellent. Hotel is a old building which has such potential - kitsch decor, beautiful lamps - a quaint hotel that needs to improve its facilities to become the gem that it can be.

Review 30:Very minor things to notice. We stayed in one of the ground floor rooms that had access to the backyard and all our windows viewed the hallway so not much sunshine reached the room. Also, the floors of the building are old and quite noisy. We could hear much of the walking that happened in the room above us. Overall though, we were not really disturbed by any of these.

Review 31:Very nice hotel situated right in the center of the city, just a couple of minutes walking to the central square of Nafplio and easy access from/to all the points of interest. The room was huge, clean, very comfortable and stylish. There was vintage furniture and lots of paintings. The slippers provided by the hotel added to the comfort. We really enjoyed the breakfast, there was a nice variety of salty and sweet options, hot coffee and possibility to prepare fresh orange juice. The staff was very nice as well and they also offered to keep our luggage in the departure day.

Review 32:There are many many steps to the hotel and getting your luggage yo the hotel entrance is not easy.

Review 33:This hotel is located close to everything. The breakfast was outstanding and included fresh squeezed orange juice and a wide selection of baked pastries, cheeses, etc.

Review 34:The shower really needs replacement.

Review 35:The hotel is very nice decorated and you really feel like you are back in time. We booked because of this. We choose the "Budget" room which is on the courtyard, where all the facilities are (airco, washing machine). We discussed this with the reception and we got a different room.

Review 36:When I went into our room (room nr.2) I saw that the bedside light didn't function. I needed it as I get up in the night. I went to the receptionist straight away, and although she promised , it was never mended. The bathroom was very large but the Windows were boarded up so no natural light came in,¨. The only light in the big bath¨¨ room was a chandelier which made shaving etc impossible. A chandelier in a bathroom isn't a good idea. The furniture is antique; some of it falling apart. There's a lot of step climbing in the Hotel, and nobody offers help with luggage. The Hotel is at the end of a very narrow road, so parking is at least 10-15 minutes away,

Review 37:the breakfast was good and because the Hotel is at the end of a narrow street it was relatively quiet.

Review 38:We had some cleanliness issues. I found hair in my clean towel the first day. Luckily, they change them daily anyway. There was also hair in the shower siphon and the wardrobe.

Review 39:A historical 17th century building nicely located in the old town. Unique decoration, spacious room. We liked the spacious shower and the breakfast.

Review 40:In the presentation it is not clear that to reach the hotel you need to walk at least 200m with the presence of stairs. this is not confortable with kids and/or lugages for a long journey.

Review 41:Very charming hotel great location in old town Nafplio. Historical home, only one hundred feet from the main square. Center for restaurants, nightlife and kids playing. Best complimentary breakfast, served with style. Freshly squeezed oranges in front of you. The staff was very courteous and helpful, short walk to the local beach and citadel.

Review 42:Not clear about location of the hotel

Review 43:Interior indoor

Review 44:Excellent place, in the centre of old town.the staff were very kind

Review 49:Wonderful colourful creative rooms

Review 50:Hard to reach by car.

Review 51:Great location in the wonderful heart of the city. Very nice setting and original style interior. Cool deco.

Review 52:the bathroom is too modern for the character of the hotel

Review 53:the room!!!!

Review 54:Rooms were hot when we arrived.

Review 55:Location is excellent in the heart of the old town. Continental breakfast was great. Rooms were spacious.

Review 56:The decor

Review 57:Hard to find. 30 Steps up a hill.

Review 58:Great staff. Felt very like a local there.

Review 59:Noting to dislike

Review 60:Just fab!

Review 61:none

Review 62:Everything: room, breakfast, price, location are ideal. No complains. Hotel is very quiet but one street from the crowd. No noise at all.

Review 63:Location, and sizable room and bathroom.

Review 64:Nowhere to park nearby to unload suitcases

Review 65:Central location on foot. Quirky decor.

Review 66:The room is amazing, and the bathroom is so good. It's in the old town but quiet enough from shops and restaurants.

Review 67:WiFi did not work. A bit complicated to find the hotel.

Review 68:Equipment of the hotel, tasty breakfast.

Review 69:- Breakfast selection

Review 70:- Location

Review 71:Rooms, hotel staff very polite and helpful

Review 72:The bed is a little hard and small.

Review 73:The location, breakfast, clean and quiet.

Review 74:The coffee at breakfast was like dish water.

Review 75:Very friendly staff, interesting decor very well personalised.

Review 76:Cool location in a house built in 1645, very nice staff, good breakfast in a cutely decorated room. Two thumbs up!

Review 77:Stairs to hotel. No place to sit outside in the sun.

Review 78:Decoration,food,service, shower facilities, cheerful staff with good English.

Review 79:Clean hotel, well located, very basic but ok for one night.

Review 80:noise, next clinning-laundry room, stuffy, small room, many stages

Review 81:Location, breakfast, the style of the bulding.

Review 82:Everything was very good, only problem is that there is no parking in the old town,so you have to park outside.walking distance is approx.6-10 minuts.

Review 83:Owner was very friendly and staff helpfull.we got better room for the same price because they didn't have enought time to clean up.room was very well decorated.breakfast was very good, fresh products from owners farm as he told us.fresh orange juice etc.good location in old town.would return again.

Review 84:The name 'Junior Suite' is a bit exaggerated. Our Junior Suite looked more like a not too large double room, but with a very nice bath room. According to our booking, all Junior Suites have a balcony, but ours did not. In fact, only 1 room in the hotel has a balcony.

Review 85:Nice location in the old town, good breakfast, very friendly staff.

Review 86:The building is a bit old but all in all, it is value for money!

Review 87:Very central location and very friendly staff. Breakfast with homemade products and kind people.

Review 88:The hotel is in bad condition. We stayed in the small suite:Smell in theroom from adjacent tavernas in the late afternoon and in themorning.Must close windows! Shower hose was deffective, water is floodingbathroom floor due to bad construction. No wardrobe.Shutters not closingproperly. The matraces overdue . The jacussi was not working after 4minutes. The warmwater was ending after a shower you must wait 10 minfor the next shower. The breakfast buffet very poor . Price of 100Eurosis very hight for a 2star hotel. The description is wrong

Review 89:Location is very good

Review 90:Corridors, staircases and breakfast hall are a bit narrow/small for a 2m tall person :)

Review 91:Room decorations are so beautiful. The location is perfect, just in the center but also quiet. There is wifi in the room and speed is ok. I haven't tried the breakfast but it was smelling good.

Review 92:nothing

Review 93:Very nice and friendly staff!!! They even did our laundry for free! Perfect location, romantic and interesting design, tasty breakfast. We loved our stay there! :))

Review 94:We stayed more than 2 days which makes it too tiring: rooms to small, no cupboards or "practical" drawers, so you have to leave everything in your suitcases or on the chairs....which gives you the feeling you are constantly in a "mess". Poor facilities in the bathrooms, with hydraulic problems....SInce it is a very old building with wooden floors, it also means "no isolation"! You hear everything...For diffiucult sleepers this is a problem!

Review 95:Nice hotel for 1 or 2 days. Different decorations than other hotels which gives a special atmosphere. Good location, good breakfast

Review 96:This was the second time we visited this hotel with a special historical flavour in a great location. The hotel hat improved even from our last stay a year earlier, now providing excellent breakfast made of local products. This little hotel deserves all our recommendations!

Review 97:Friendly management with family taking part. They helped us with our travel to Hydra. Breakfasts were different each day and very tasty. A big thankyou. A wonderful stay.

Review 98:Wi-fi almost didn’t work in the room.

Review 99:The hotel has very funny interior. It seems to be a parody to baroque, and there is a lot of interesting old things. Our room had a big balconywith a great view over the city. Also we liked to have jacuzzi, bathrobeand hair-drier at the bath-room. The breakfast was perfect: we even hadfreshly squeezed orange juice.

Review 100:Centerly located in the old town. Many steps lead to the hotel. Rooms are furnished in an old days colorful style that might look weird to some people. It is a good value, but rooms require some maintainance. Not for the weak in hurt

Review 101:Sometimes noisy, the rest was great!!!

Review 102:Wonderfull room,very romantic,clean,bubble bath,old furniture,colourfull,good breakfast,friendly owner,in the middle of the old town

Review 103:nearest car parking area at a 5min walk distance - not really a problem

Review 104:In the center of Nafplio but still quiet, spacy room with a huge bathroom, nice collection of very old pieces of furniture (matching the 400years old building)

Review 105:The acces by car is very difficult, so you have to carry the lagguage but this is minor to the advantages.

Review 106:The stuff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel is in the center of Nauplio, so you did not need any car. The decoration of the hotel is unique and inspires romantic mood. Even the breakfast cap, plates and cutlery were unique and you think that you live in older ages. The hotel is highly recomented for couples.

Review 107:Parking may be an issue.

Review 108:Excellent location. The hotel is a renovated old Mayor's house. The design of the rooms is "old style". It intents to travel you through older times. Breakfast was superb. Super friendly, clean, and very cheap

Review 125:Location, right in the center.
