Reviews for Amalia Nafplio
Review 1:None
Review 2:Excellent helpful and polite staff. Large hotel with all facilities expected, well furnished, good TV programs choice in room, free and fast WiFi, excellent service, good parking facilities. Very close to Nafplio & Mykines for visits.
Review 3:Some of the breakfast buffet items were a little odd but overall decent variety. Coffee way to strong and the only choice was French brewed which is quite bitter. Pool service could have been better.
Review 4:Wonderful hotel. Very comfortable and clean. The pool was great. Certainly the best value for your money in the area. We had a car and liked the out of way location and views of the mountains.
Review 5:Extremely boring, bland, isolated place to be with nothing to do on property or nearby. Blah food. Staff seemed bored and not helpful.
Review 6:Nothing terrible happened.
Review 7:The wifi was a little slow. Can't fault anything else.
Review 8:The hotel was beautiful big and in a quiet location. All the staff were so friendly and polite. The breakfast was fantastic as well. Rooms clean and big.
Review 9:If you don't have a car it costs a lot in taxis to get into town. Half hour walk but unpleasant on main road with no real footpath
Review 10:Gorgeous hotel. Great pool. Great breakfast. Quiet.
Review 11:we takes 2 days in Amalia Nafplio. it really nice hotel. the room is pretty, clean and very comfortable. all the staffs are turely kind and heplful. we will miss here so much.
Review 12:Old fashioned decor Carpets in the corridor that had stains Limited activities
Review 13:Free wifi Big rooms Personnel ready to service Nice outdoor pool Easy access to the city
Review 14:Wifi was not strong. Not a hotel for people with disabilities. No Gym
Review 15:Old World beautiful hotel, needs some upgrades. Large rooms and great service. Nice pool area.
Review 16:Hiccups with credit card / booking system which were not from my side as I have been assured by my bank - nothing major however. Ants in the room, despite the fact that all visible parts of the room were very clean. Small parking.
Review 17:Beautifully organized and run hotel. Excelllent facilities. Good rooms. Great pool. Breakfast catering to most needs.
Review 18:It has a nice pool, so you can relax and enjoy it before heading to the city Center or the beach. Or at the end of the day as it closes at 8pm. Staff was very helpful and nice to us. Hotel facilities were awesome with nice green areas and far enough from the city Center. Just a 5 min drive.
Review 19:I almost never write reviews, and I do so only when a hotel is eitherexceptionally bad or truly excellent. I have to say that the AmaliaHotel in Nafplio was truly excellent and I wish to highlight the manylittle details that made my stay worthwhile. The reason I say this isbecause you do not expect management to take care of so many littledetails in a hotel with 170 rooms (ie., A large hotel) or add a personaltouch to make the rooms and stay of the guests even nicer. So, I shouldstart by saying that the hotel has lovely architectural design (withFrench windows and grass lawns) that is not typically Greek--moreresembling of a European hotel. There were gorgeous paintings allthroughout the hotel and even in the rooms. The hotel and rooms arerenovated and apart from having lovely common areas with nice design, Iwould like to highlight the following assets: -Double-glazed windows inthe hotel and in the rooms. This is a *very rare* amenity in Greece! This was perfect as resulted in a feeling of quiet and one could sleepundisturbed. -While one has to insert the card in order to have powerwhen in the room, the air conditioning turns on automatically when oneis outside the room which results in one having a nice, cool room toreturn to! This is also *unheard* of in Greece, and very important whenone considers the summer heat! What hotel, with the economic crisisgoing on, would invest in such a useful and costly amenity (electricitycosts obviously, so to have the air-conditioning on when guests are notin the room is a luxury). -We had complimentary fruits (2 tasty peaches,a banana, and 2 apples), a bottle of wine, a bottle of water, andchocolates for us in the room upon arrival, along w/ the personalcompliments of the manager. Again, this is something that hotels havestopped doing (due to cost-cutting), and my partner and I very muchappreciated it!
Review 20:WiFi sometimes was not as reliable/strong as I would have liked.
Review 21:Comfortable sized double room that didn't feel crowded even when a single bed was added for our 3-year-old kid (free of charge). Clean pool which is important plus all the facilities were well taken care off. Very polite staff ready to help with a smile. Loved the black-out curtains, hate to wake up early from the sun sneaking in the room. Breakfast was very good with a decent selection.
Review 22:This is only a very minor criticism, as overall our stay was very good. At times there weren't enough sunbeds around the pool, or if there were enough it wasn't possible to get out of the sun. Also there were days when no face cloths were provided (but clean towels every day :) ), dirty glasses were not removed from the room and so no clean glasses supplied. As I say only very minor in the scheme of things!
Review 23:The staff at the hotel were very good, friendly and welcoming. The facilities at the hotel were good. The pool/restaurant menu limited, but always a good quality, quantity and well cooked/presented.
Review 24:We asked for a double bed and not for two separate beds, and a room not on ground floor. None of our requests was granted. The parking lot is small and you have to walk if you 're not lucky enough to find a space. It was rainy that night and I had to walk in the mud to get back into the hotel from where I parked the car. The wifi signal was extremely weak in our room. The pool was too small for all those people, and the available seats/sunbeds were minimal. There was a stench of mould in our room that wouldn't go away. All in all, for 120 euros per night I was expecting much more than what I got.
Review 25:Staff was extremely polite Breakfast was nice Garden was exceptional
Review 26:The staff were not too friendly, the pool area was too small and overcrowded.
Review 27:A good value hotel with easy parking and access to Nafplio - the breakfast was also very good.
Review 28:-Crowded pool area, far from the city, big hotel mostly of business character
Review 29:-Big room, great variety for beeakfast, gentle personnel, complimentary fruits and wine at the room at check-in
Review 30:Hughe hotel made to receive mass of tourists. Reflected in atmosphere and (for dinner) quality of restaurant (servings).
Review 31:Friendly personnel, always at your disposal.
Review 32:All that is not cheap, so iif your budget is not high, try and get a deal.
Review 33:This is a perfectly appointed modern hotel, that cares about the details and offers much.
Review 34:Horrible food; our room has a balcony shared with other room without privacy: this is a problem of security and privacy unacceptable. Low quality breakfast and served in a dark room; this is incomprensible for a hotel with garden. The priority for the hotel are the tour groups, for example, the restaurant was no available to dinner for individual clients.
Review 35:Cleaness and garden.
Review 36:nothing, loved everything about this hotel and will revisit
Review 37:I liked that the hotel was in a quiet tranquil location with great views of the mountains. Staff were very polite and attentive. Great, great swimming pool and towel accessibility. Lots of unique areas for you to chill out. Prices at hotel very reasonable
Review 38:Week-end a little crowded with exuberant students, but a comment from a couple who like calm & serenity!
Review 39:Ease of parking & location outside of town. Breakfasts a particular treat! Staff helpful & attentive.
Review 40:This is a beautiful property, located a few kilometres from the port and the old town. The principal rooms - reception, lounges, are lovely. I loved some of the antique pieces. I also found the tray of loukoum awaiting guests at reception a lovely touch. All the staff I dealt with during my stay went out of their way to be helpful.
Review 41:Nothing. It has grandeur of a luxuous hotel and can not be compared with the cosiness of the most luxiorious of the smaller family hotels which are also available in the area
Review 42:Extremely client vriendly and helpfull personnel. Welcome on our room with a free bottle of wine and fruit. Fantastic (although we did not make use of it). Very good location to discover the very interesting environment. Very good Piano player in the bar that knew and plaid all our songs
Review 43:eating room is the ball room and you get lost - worst place of the hotel food is mediocre (breakfast good) for short stay too far out of city
Review 44:very nice hotel with excellent park aera good to take as basis for excursions during several days
Review 45:The staff is focused on quality service; the grounds are maintained beautifully; the plentiful parking and strong, multi-zone WiFi are much appreciated benefits. Plan to return soon...
Review 46:Dinner in the restaurant was poor. There was a wedding which went on until 4am with loud music.
Review 47:Pool area was excellent. The lounge area was quiet during the day for reading.
Review 48:The rooms are comfortable and stylish affording fine views over the surrounding countryside to the sea and/or hills with a night chorus provided by frogs, birds and other wildlife. The hotel has a good coffee shop/bar with friendly attentive staff who will serve your drinks at whichever of the comfortable relaxing areas you choose to sit including poolside, orangery, patio or lounge area. The breakfast was excellent and varied. Overall the hotel far exceeded our expectations which were based on the hotel website and the reviews of previous guests. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone wishing to visit this area to enjoy the ancient sites and the beauty of the hills during the days and relax in any of the may excellent restaurants in nearby Nafplio with its lovely seafront in the evenings.
Review 49:No negative comments
Review 50:The Hotel has great facilities, very helpful staff that is willing to help with some local information. The bed is very comfortable. Clean and neaty.
Review 51:Welcome fruits had gone bad Glasses were dirty (sticky) Door would not close had to fix the loose door frame rubber Very small balcony, could not sit outside Generally overpriced
Review 52:Friendly staff Big room Quiet room
Review 53:Elegant hotel with lovely gardens and pool area well provided with loungers and umbrellas. Rooms spacious, well fitted and good bathrooms. Excellent breakfast and good value evening buffet. Staff friendly and helpful. Welcoming plate of fruit and bottle of wine on arrival. Out of town so car essential.
Review 54:Minor point that hot food was rarely hot at breakfast. There are lots of overnight coach group stays here, but this meant we ate breakfast a bit later and then had the place to ourselves for most of the day :)
Review 55:Really comfortable bedroom. Palatial public rooms and very friendly staff. Beautiful pool.
Review 56:It was NOT a bad experience but an observation. The hotel, quite correctly, attracted a large numbers of guests from bus parties and it would have been very advantageous to independent travellers like ourselves to have been provided with separate facilities for our breakfast etc. as the hotel had the facilities and provision to do so. We regularly felt somewhat overwhelmed at breakfast by the 'bus travellers'. Perhaps this is something the hotel should consider and as I say it is an observation rather than a criticism. My wife and I would happily return to this hotel but would prefer not to be mixed in with the volumes of bus groups.
Review 57:The hotel was well positioned and the facilities and staff were excellent. The hotel was spotless and it was very tranquil both within the hotel environment and the room situation. There was sufficient parking within the hotel grounds and this was most appreciated.
Review 58:A bit too far from Nafplikn to walk into town. No dirdct access to the sea. Many tour groups (busses).
Review 59:Pool. Spacious room with a small balcony overlooking the garden and sea from a distance. Great breakfast buffet.
Review 60:Breakfast was a bit busy and loud as it was full of families, but very good breakfast anyway.
Review 61:Big hotel but personal staff. Nice big rooms with both balconies or patios. Huge pool and sun patio. Near the town but quiet.
Review 62:Nothing at all. Hotel is perfect!!
Review 63:The facilities are excellent for both couples and families with young children. The service is fantastic. The hotel even had a piano player every afternoon escorted by a lady singer later in the evening. Outstanding hotel with great staff. Congratulations.
Review 64:Not really possible to walk into town as suggested in the description; it is quite far and along a busy road without a footpath
Review 65:Clean and comfortable room, good breakfast. Easy parking compared to other hotels in Naphlio, good wifi.
Review 66:Can not think of anything at the moment.
Review 67:Very friendly staff happy to help anytime, will recommend this great hotel to anyone, this is my second stay n have already booked another stay for next year to bring my partner with me.
Review 68:Surrounded with a beautiful garden. Very good location for travelers with car. Less than ten minutes drive to Nafplio and a convenient base to explore the antiquities of ancient Greek.
Review 69:Food was not brilliant, although not terrible. If you are looking for a hotel with loads of character, this is not the place for you.
Review 70:Same standard as many UK 4 star hotels we have stayed in. Very clean and quiet, with loads of space both in the room and communal areas. Beds OK, large ensuite bathroom with nice, big towels. Pool would have been great if the weather had been better - shame it wasn't heated! Location good for exploring Peloponnese but best if you have a car as about 5 mins drive from town which suited us.
Review 71:Not a decent proper double bed! Only two single beds together which were inclined to come apart during the night
Review 72:Excellent Staff and service, lovely swimming pool situated for easy access to all sorts of interesting places and beaches
Review 73:The style is International business hotel so if you want a very Greek experience, look elsewhere. The out-of-town location means you will need to use a car or taxis.
Review 74:This is a high quality hotel with quiet, modern and well-furnished rooms, comfortable lounge areas, attentive staff, a nice swimming pool where towels are provided, and good quality buffet-style meals.
Review 75:Single beds joined together but a nasty gap emerges over night.
Review 76:Lovely swimming pool. Really good breakfast. Every thing spotlessly clean. Staff very eager to please. Extras not over priced
Review 77:Nothing
Review 78:Friendly and helpful staff Comfortable, spacious room with good view over the bay Quiet both inside and outside the hotel Large breakfast buffet Decent on-site parking
Review 79:The cafeteria (or restaurant) is rather utilitarian and could be made more attractive.
Review 80:We were delayed and arrived hungry and with our son, daughter-in-law and toddler. Although restaurant was strictly closed, they got food for us. Staff couldn't be more helpful. The hotel and grounds are very attractive.
Review 81:No possibility to have breakfast and dinner outside in garden. Inside restaurant has no nice atmosphere, "cool" environment.
Review 82:Nice room, good facilities
Review 83:The air-condition in the room made a lot of noise. The room telephone was unplugged and I could fix it. I had to go to the reception and when somebody went to my room to fix the telephone he found the door open - in fact, it didn't close unless you pulled it really hard, which I hadn't.
Review 84:Very helpful staff. Decoration and items in the room, which was prepared even with a bottle of red wine waiting for us. Their beautiful attrium and the hotel in general, as a building.
Review 85:I felt upset with the fact that the management ignored our comments about the mess with the car parking... During the last night of our stay 10 cars were parked on 20 spaces... because it was convenient to them. We had to park at the fields outside the hotel. A manager next day gave us no answer and just turned his back and left after I complained during check out... The hotel's staff didn't seem very happy... The breakfast is typical with low cost ingredients, not at 4 star level. The bar was nice but with heavy carpets and dark, it doesn't fit to a sunny country... it was like I was in Wales or Scotland.
Review 86:The views of Palamidi were great. We had requested rooms with view and it was really beautiful. Nice rooms, although with old furniture, at least they were in good condition and made our stay pleasant.
Review 87:The hotel has great facilities. The hotel staff was very friendly and catered to all our needs. We did not have a car but the hotel would call us a taxi in 2 minutes to go to city center. They recommended some great places to eat. try Souvuras for fresh fish.
Review 88:Short drive ( 5 minutes) outside of town , so you would need to take your car and look for a parking spot in Nafplio which is not easy to find in weekends
Review 89:Spacious , clean room and bathroom . Beautiful grounds . Staff were responsive and helpfule.
Review 90:Eveything: professional and smiling staff, hotel location and facilities, a wonderful pool, great landscaped gardens, spacious rooms with comfy beds, the nicest breakfast buffet in Peloponnese (20 meters long). We will come back. 10 marks out of 10.
Review 91:Food wasn't great and very over priced. Located outside of Nafplio so had to use taxis to go anywhere of interest
Review 92:The hotel is very grand and the staff were friendly, good choice for breakfast. Clean comfortable room.Nice pool
Review 93:Too many children shouting by the pool. Mostly Greek
Review 94:I really enjoyed my staying there. I highly recommend the rooms with a garden access. Breakfast was rich and tasteful although sometimes you had to look around for a place to be seated. I guess because most of the tables were large and not suitable for solo partners of couples. Staff was very friendly and helpful. And Nafplio is just 5 min drive.
Review 95:A super hotel, the rooms were very comfortable and the bathrooms were superb with lots of space and really powerful showers. On the ground floor, our french doors opened onto a sweet patio area with a small table and chairs.Enormous pool, very well maintained and good amount of shady loungers and unlimited pool towels. Busy at breakfast times but good quality and lots of choice with pleasant service. The whole place was very spacious and ideal for families..although there were lots there it didn t seem overcrowded..near to the town by car but in an attractive setting. We were very happy with it .
Review 96:Would have liked to have been close enough to the town to walk there rather than having to use a car. There was a problem with the water supply on our first evening but I understand this was the case throughout the town and there was no recurrence .
Review 97:The hotel was very well laid out and all rooms including bedrooms were spacious and airy. Despite there being 2 weddings during our stay ( one of which we attended) noise was not a problem as bedrooms were well away from social areas. There was an excellent choice of food at breakfast which was available from early till late to suit all risers. The pool was a good size and spotlessly clean with an excellent range of tables chairs loungers and parasols. Never a problem to find a free lounger despite the busy time of year and poolside towels provided. Had a wonderful relaxing week and would certainly return.
Review 98:As all the big hotels, a bit impersonal. The A/C too noisy but was actually not required.
Review 99:Well located to go to Epidavros and Mikenes. For Nafplio, better to go early in the evening to find a good place to park the car. Breakfast is excelent. TV has international channels.
Review 100:The bar food took a long time to arrive and it wasn't what we ordered. They added an extra soft drink in our bill so doublecheck the bill when you receive it.
Review 101:Friendly staff, spacious bedroom and bathroom, a lot of common rooms to chill out
Review 102:The hotel is a few kilometres outside nafplio. Taxis were €7-8 and arrived in 5 mins. Greek service is slow pace everywhere including at the hotel.
Review 103:The staff were very helpful and friendly. The pool and facilities were just what we needed for a family get together before the wedding. Buffet breakfast and dinner were very good quality and variety.
Review 104:Pool . Dirty, lack of service, lot of unattended kids and no lifeguard present. Dinner buffet. To expensive for the quality and quantity of food offered. Staff. Very friendly but lacking of experience
Review 105:The time i spent last year, because this year hotel was not what i expected.
Review 106:The breakfast room is looking tired - it desparately needs re-decorating. The breakfast "hot food" was always cold. Plus staying for nearly two weeks - I got very bored very quickly of the the breakfast menu, it did not change. Food - in the evening was n't very good, and relative to the restaurants in town - the hotel prices of food & drink are very expensive. A G&T is the same price as London. I tried the "buffet" in the evening - and was really poor, and 16 euros for a child who eats very little - it just was not worth it. It is better to jump in the car and go to town, where its half the price & twice the quality. The hotel is really missing a trick with its food offering.
Review 107:the staff - people buy from people all the staff are helpful, courteous, all very nice people. Very professional - waiters, bar staff, restaurant manager, chambermaids - could not be better.
Review 108:Nothing notable
Review 109:Rooms are large and clean Bathrooms as well AC worked well Wifi worked Breakfast was good and copious Pool area was perfect Staff was courteous, attentive and helpful Location has not much charm but was very convenient and well indicates
Review 110:The location is a bit out of town (only a couple of kilometers though not walking distance), so a car is needed to go to dinner in Nafplion. However, a car is needed anyway for beaches and touring at Mycenae, Epidavros, etc. If I were traveling solo or with friends, I might want something a bit more central. Nevertheless, the staff was very helpful in giving directions.
Review 111:Hotel is luxurious with extensive breakfast and easy parking. It has a swimming pool. There is a gym very nearby. I was traveling with elderly relatives and it was great for them, and I also noticed a lot of children. The staff was very attentive.
Review 112:The bathroom was not clean when we checked in. The table in the garden/on the balcony was dirty. The breakfast was very poor. The boiled eggs were cold. The omelette horrible. The milk was not fresh, it was concentrated/condensed milk with water! Unacceptable for a 4* hotel!!! The only eatable food were fruit and pastry. It is a shame and a pitty that we paid for a 4* hotel and we got no value for our money!
Review 113:Lack of staff (especially at the pool),Organisation of Breakfast.WiFi could not be relied on To be fair the Hotel is set up for Coach Tours who only stay for a couple of days not longer stays
Review 114:The Pool, the Gardens and breakfast range. The Welcome.
Review 115:The unexpected loudness from summer night bars in Nea Kios. The worst situation if you would like to sit out on the balkony or at the gardens to enjoy the quite summer night
Review 116:Wonderful place with comfortable and big rooms.many facilities and the best breakfast ever!!!
Review 117:No shade for the cars, which got very hot under the Peloponnese scorching sun. Once they had not made the room by 2 pm.
Review 118:The location. The room was quiet. Breakfast was fine.
Review 119:The hotel is located ~5km out of the town- an due to its location is not ideal for a lazy daily stroll. Without a car a traveller is better off staying within the old town area of nafplio
Review 120:Hotel itself is fantastic with good facilities, however it is similar more suited to travelling tours than travellers wanting to spend a few days exploring nafplio
Review 121:Everything! The rooms are very spacious and the facilities of the hotel will satisfy most travelers. Also, the breakfast buffet is amazing. The big swimming pool is a big plus in the summer.
Review 122:A little far from town unless you have a car. Breakfast has a good selection but items are not replenished.
Review 123:Good staff. Upgraded. Clean. Comfortable. Reasonable facilities.
Review 124:It is quite a distance from the city centre so if you do not have a car be prepared to spent on taxi fare
Review 125:The room was spacious and comfortable. Loved the bathroom
Review 126:Bad organisation . Unprofessional staff . Bad food
Review 127:House keeping staff . Very hard workers
Review 128:There some flies in the bathroom..
Review 129:It was very old nothing like the pictures
Review 130:The staff was very kind and helpfull
Review 131:Big spacey common areas as well as bedrooms and bathrooms, quiet
Review 132:It was to bigg, noice in the restaurang.
Review 133:My first visit to Greece was enhanced by the hotel experience
