Reviews for Ard na Breatha Boutique Guesthouse & Restaurant
Review 1:Its a bit outside town. But who cares with that restaurant and that service.
Review 2:It was like comming home. Excellent. The restaurant alone is worth to come back.
Review 3:It was all perfect. Theresa was so helpful in every way. She was lovely to talk to and made us feel very welcome. The breakfasts were amazing and both dinners were absolutely delicious.
Review 4:Absolutely beautiful location, home and restaurant. Teresa was lovely and kind, made me feel at home and so lucky to have talked to in passing a throughout the day and night. Food was excellent, staff wonderful and so kind. Hands down the best place I've stayed in Ireland
Review 5:It is a beautiful purpose-built B&B outside Donegal Town. Besides including a full irish breakfast they also offer dinner. It was nice, for once, not to have to go looking for a place to eat dinner. Theresa the owner and Sarah our hostess couldn't have been nicer or more accommodating.
Review 6:Our twin room was so small that there was hardly anywhere to put two suitcases down. The heating was centrally controlled so had to ask the owners to turn off the heating as the room got so hot. There was no bedside table next to one of the beds.
Review 7:The owners were lovely, breakfast was very good and surrounds were beautiful.
Review 8:Gorgeous property and very friendly people. Room and bed comfortable. All facilities good and nice common rooms for guests. Not far from town and easy to get to with car. Good parking. Breakfast terrific. Shame we didn't stay longer.
Review 9:The property is just a bit hard to find. Perhaps a map or some directions may have helped (although it is possible that I missed these on the website.)
Review 10:Ard na Breatha is a wonderful haven on the outskirts of Donegal. We were met with the warmest of welcomes and found the property to be absolutely delightful. As we didn't want to make the journey back to town for our evening meal we chose to eat in - and were treated with the most delicious dinner - well beyond our expectations. Highly recommended.
Review 11:Our bathroom was damp so smelled a bit musty.
Review 12:The farm setting, welcoming staff, fabulous food, and proximity to Donegal. We watched fireworks exploding over the town from the dining room. Lots of room to roam in the morning before breakfast.
Review 13:Lovely peacefull guest house with exellent food in the restaurant and the breakfast was really fresh and a good choice. Sarah was a very friendly and attentive host and made the stay very enjoyable. Thanks sarah :)
Review 14:What's not to like!!
Review 15:Great location near town center. A warm welcome with staff attentive throughout stay. Comfortable room with a great breakfast provided. A little 'gem'.
Review 16:Bit of a mix up when we arrived,we had booked a one night stay but had added on an extra night, the proprietor insisted booking.com had only faxed a one night stay and was fully booked for second night. We did stay a second night, but if there is an on going problem between ard na breatha and b.com confirming bookings, it should be sorted out and avoid making your guest feel uncomfortable.€6 for a large bottle of water???
Review 17:Reception and bar/ restaurant were comfortable and cosy. Sarah couldn't do enough to make our stay enjoyable, she was so friendly and treated all the guests like friends.
Review 18:The beds were soft - and for many, that would be fine. I just like a firmer mattress. But, still felt fairly rested.
Review 19:Loved the rustic surroundings, and yet close to Donegal town. The hosts and staff were so friendly and helpful - attentive to our every need. The children enjoyed the living room and had fun playing the piano. Would definitely stay here again.
Review 20:Excellent restaurant is part of the very cosy B&B. Staff and ownerwere very helpful. Close to Solis Hotel with nice spa area. Very goodlocation to explore the North of Ireland.
Review 21:WE LIKED EVERYTHING !
Review 22:Great Location. Very nice and comfortable Rooms . Very friendly Staff and fantastic Restaurant ! We give it 5 Stars ! One of the best B&B's we have visited !
Review 23:Ard Na Breatha is just a marvelous place to rest, relax and be spoiled. Theresa, Albert and their staff are friendly, welcoming and seek to make you feel like you are staying right in their home. We loved the peaceful scenery out the windows and the great access to Donegal Town and Slieve League cliffs.
Review 24:Worse breskfast of all trip unfortunatly. The bacon was so hard unable to cut it. Looked like bacon from a couple days ago
Review 25:Nice place, great room but a little bit out of town
Review 26:No bad experience - only rated location 'good' instead of 'excellent' as we loved it but it was a little out of the centre of town so for some people may be too far out.
Review 27:Friendly and warm welcome, nothing was too much trouble. we had 2 evening meals there which were wonderful. They use their own produce when possible and cook it to perfection. Beautiful views from the dining room. Cosy atmospheric bar.
Review 28:Nothing
Review 29:We had amazing service from all of the staff. The view was breathtakingly beautiful. The B & B was clean and spacious. The food was delicious and was presented with style.
Review 30:Genuine, warm hospitality. We called to see if we could have dinner and it was much later than we thought. We emailed and were told they would accommodate us as long as it was before 9:00 pm. We arrived at 8:50. The service was wonderful and the dinner was exceptional! Everything is from farm to table and tasted sensational!
Review 31:View from the property is glorious; house is large and well-appointed, common room with comfortable furniture and even a piano! Everything is elegant, clean and beautiful. 10-15 minute walk to town centre.
Review 32:Extremely comfortable stay in a fantastically run hotel. Close enough to town to walk but out of the bustle. The owner recommended that we go into town for traditional music at the reel inn and that just about made our holiday. Had the best french toast ever for breakfast. Worth going back to.
Review 33:Lovely room and setting. In all aspects of the property they add extra touches that enhance the ambience. Booked dinner in the restaurant. It was elegant and delicious as was the breakfast. Highly recommend this lodging.
Review 34:The beds we had in our singles were not the most comfortable.....you could feel the springs when you rolled over. This was our only negative at the Ard na Breatha, though!
Review 35:Service was spectacular at this beautiful Bed & Breakfast! Walking distance to town yet quiet. Food was plentiful and delicious at both breakfast and dinner.
Review 36:Theresa and the rest of the staff are lovely! The house is a easy walk away into town. It's very well maintained and an absolute treat to stay at. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious. If our travels bring us back to Donegal, I will definitely stay here again. Highly recommend it!
Review 37:The staff was very friendly and helpful. The first night we were there I left my purse in the lounge. The owner found it and kept it safe until breakfast. The breakfast was delicious. Be sure to try the French toast.
Review 38:Lack of maintenance in the room, failure to advise that you need to pull cord outside bathroom to use hot water.
Review 39:The host was pleasant and friendly and the breakfast tasty
Review 40:Brilliant customer service and fantastic breakfast. Loved the relaxing guest living room to chill out and the beds were really comfy. A good night sleep guaranteed and a yummy breakfast to greet you in the morn. Could not recommend highly enough. Great value
Review 41:It was very hard to find with our GPS from the car rental place. It kept telling us that we had arrived when we were on the highway. We had to stop and ask and we had to go back around and cut through a housing development which took us to a road that went under the highway and up to the place.
Review 42:The food was tremendous, the host was very nice, our waitress for dinner was Excellent!! Quiet location, nice room, nice sitting area with a fire place, right next to a farm where we went for a walk.
Review 43:The locations was great, and the view from the family room was so lovely. The breakfast was delicious, it was really good to have a fab mix of continental options and hot meal options.
Review 44:There was nothing I didn't like.
Review 45:From arriving we were made welcome, shown around the premesis and then shown to our room. Our room was spotlessly clean and well appointed. We had dinner that night which was delicious. Service was impeccable. Breakfast was as delicious as dinner. All and all I liked everything about our stay.
Review 46:The owner, Theresa, was lovely and full of helpful information. Sitting by the fire enjoying an after dinner drink at the bar chatting was a perfect end to our evening.
Review 47:Didnt get a chance to sample restauant however breakfast was always delicious!
Review 48:Overwelming beauty of the location was a joy to wake up to x theresa and her family were fantastic and very accomadatingx
Review 49:Bedroom didn't have a view over the land but no big deal as we spent very little time in the room.
Review 50:Clean,pleasant place to stay. Theresa is a very accommodating host & her husband cooks a very scrumptious breakfast.
Review 51:Nothing not to like
Review 52:This guest house is A lovely place to stay, the rooms are immaculate and the staff are attentive and more than pleasant. For a refreshing break on a road trip like ours I thoroughly recommend this place. It's about a ten minute walk into Donegal town but if you don't mind that then please do book, you won't regret it.
Review 53:Theresa and the staff were so helpful and amazing. The breakfast was great and there were many options. There was a mini bar right at the B&B and a nightly evening fire.
Review 54:The rooms were beautiful. Cosy but spacious, gorgeously decorated. Great facilities too. The breakfast was delicious, and the location wonderful. Such a lovely stay!
Review 55:THERE WAS NOTHING THAT DISAPPOINTED.
Review 56:A VERY FRIENDLY AND WARM WELCOME BY STAFF WAS FOLLOWED BY A SUMPTUOUS DINNER AND A PEACEFUL NIGHT'S REST. IN THE MORNING, OPENING THE CURTAINS ONTO SUCH BEAUTIFUL COUNTRYSIDE WAS A LOVELY WAY TO START THE DAY AS WELL AS A WONDERFUL FRESHLY COOKED BREAKFAST. WE WILL DEFINITELY BE BACK!
Review 57:Staff very friendly , excellent food, great service, terrific value for money, thoroughly enjoyed our stay & the dog was welcome which is always a big plus for us.
Review 58:The welcoming and friendly staff. They rang to make sure we can find the place and on arrival, gave great tips for local resturants and pubs (great night out). Really want to go back again and felt at ease and at home.
Review 59:wish location was in town, but if you like a country setting this is lovely
Review 60:lovely facility, very comfortable, excellent food. one of the best dinners we had on our trip. staff very friendly and helpful.
Review 61:Not a dislike, for me. .... But literally at the end of "the beaten track" you would need a car to spend the evening in the bright lights of Donegal town.
Review 62:Regularly travelling the length and breath of Ireland this is definitely one of the best guesthouses I've experienced. Friendly owner, warm and comfortable room, wi-fi that works, it's free, and a wonderful breakfast.
Review 63:What's not too like. It was simply great
Review 64:I picked up on Ard na breatha because it was pet friendly. What a lucky choice. It was simply great. Teresa the owner, was so helpful and friendly. Breakfast delicious. We were only there for 4 nights but would recommend any time. Will try a summer visit next time as unfortunately she has not your yet got control of weather but would make it sunny if she could.
Review 65:Water ran cold when having a bath at night.
Review 66:Lovely hospitality Very good facilities overall Friendly helpful advice. Good breakfast selection. Catered well for gluten free.
Review 67:Nothing!
Review 68:The staff the room, and the breakfast was extremely good! They were waiting for us, despite of we arrived in the late evening! We were informed well, where we can reach the hotel facilities! Beautiful breakfast place, and living room!
Review 69:This B&B was within walking distance of the town (don't be put off by the way to it). Good size room & very comfortable bed. There was a good lounge with a trust bar. Breakfast was excellent.
Review 70:Hairy blanket and a sheet instead of a duvet - very old-fashioned and not warm enough!
Review 71:Airy, light, clean and spacious room. Lovely friendly and helpful staff. Good location well within 15 minutes walk from town.
Review 72:Perfect accommodation in a beautiful setting. We arrived early & had to keep an appointment in town @ 14:30. We were allowed to check-in & freshen up shortly after mid-day.
Review 73:Service for breakfast was excellent, excellent variety and delighted to have fruit salad too. However, the rashers were rather hard. Decor could be brightened maybe a few touches, colour schemes appear a little dated and a few touches using a fresher colour could lift the over all colour scheme.
Review 74:I'm not familiar with current B&B prices but was expecting to pay a little less. Of course, the town was very well booked that weekend and we were delighted to find Ard Na Breatha.
Review 75:The owner was driving by when saw us walking into Donegal town in the evening...she stopped her car and came back to give us advice on a shorter route...Very thoughtful of her. The view from the Guesthouse is lovely...Breakfast was excellent.
Review 76:Nothing to dislike but we wished we'd noticed we needed to book the restaurant in advance because it was a quiet night and was not open in the normal course of business. It looked excellent but we didn't get the chance to try it. Maybe next time.
Review 77:Our welcome, the facilities, being able to walk into town and the breakfast.
Review 78:Leaving.
Review 79:This place is wonderful, it is located just out of the main part of Donegal town. The guesthouse rooms are very nicely decorated and spacious. There is a communal guest sitting room downstairs which is furnished beautifully. We had dinner at the restaurant on site and the food was excellent as was the breakfast the next morning. The lady who runs the guesthouse is extremely nice and helpful. Also the lady who served in the restaurant was also very nice. Lots of parking on site and wi-fi worked well. This place is highly recommended.
Review 80:If using satnav enter the coordinates they provide, as otherwise can be hard to locate
Review 81:Freshly cooked local produce by the owner/chef with personal touch and comfortable intimate surroundings, close to Donegal town and all local attractions
Review 82:No adverse comments at all.
Review 83:Absolutely loved everything - Teresa and her husband have great taste, the décor, attention to detail , food , comfort and, best of all, friendliness ensures I would stay there again and have already recommended it to friends.
Review 84:A little difficult to locate off main road - some more detailed directions would be helpful. Otherwise, staff and facilities were exceptional.
Review 85:Everything was of a very high standard - in particular, the restaurant meal was superb (the best jamb dish we had in Ireland).
Review 86:The owner was so warm and accommodating. She brought us dinner in our room (which was amazing) and gave us tons of helpful information about the area and country. The location was great - 10 min walk into town yet up on a gorgeous hillside/farm. Everything was comfortable and we truly enjoyed our time there.
Review 87:Leaving!!!
Review 88:Staff couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. Food was fantastic, both breakfast and dinner. Well worthy of its high rating. We will definitely stay here again when in the area.
Review 89:Having to leave to go home.
Review 90:Being made welcome and that nothing was a bother for our host to do.Theresa & her Husband were away for the weekend and we had Sarah as our host and you could not get a better host, she was the most friendly being my wife and I have come across in the various places we have stayed nothing was a problem to her and this really made our stay there a wonderful experience. As for the evening meals they were superb. As for the tranquility it was excellent. The Location to Donegal town was no more than a five minute drive away yet the view from the rooms seemed that you were in the middle of the country I would highly recommend this Guest house to anyone seeking a friendly atmosphere to return too after a long day traveling around Donegal.
Review 91:very well furnished, spacious room Beds (queen beds) will assure you an extremely quiet sleep Bathroom keep all the confort you need Irish breakfast is superb! You are just a few meters from N56, but you will feel as in the country
Review 92:Nothing - plan to return to stay at this location again!
Review 93:Great food - meal to order at breakfast Super large bed Clean bathroom Nice sitting room in guesthouse Quiet - country setting with easy urban access Friendly staff
Review 94:Felt disappointed about: room description said wrought iron beds which we didn't have. Window facing a wall, no view whatsoever, room rather small. Expected much higher dining experience after reading about rewards. (Hardly any veg with main course, no salad, meat undercooked, cheap tasting sorbet with awful after taste.)
Review 95:Lovely place, very friendly and accommodating staff, nice clean room with really comfy bed.
Review 96:Courteous, competent, kind staff who make you feel like family from the minute you arrive. Beautiful location, beautiful setting and wonderful room. Teresa was so kind as to leave a box of chocolate in our room on our wedding anniversary date! What a charming hostess. Having 3 unmarried sons, my only complaint about my stay is that Sarah is already engaged ( and to a charming gentleman).....she will make a charming daughter in law and I hope my boys find girls just like her. Again, I highly recommend this guesthouse as the BEST I've ever stayed in.
Review 97:Every moment enjoyable. Nothing to not like.
Review 98:I arrived in Dublin and met my husband who arrived from Iraq where he works. We then drove to Donegal to the Ard na Breatha. I had e-mailed Therese and let her know we May arrive early. We were fairly early and was able to check right in. Theresa made sure we had every thing we needed to be comfortable. Our entire stay was wonderful beginning to end. We had a lovely Irish breakfast every morning. Teresa's husband is the chef and we had 2fabulous dinners there. We ate at the Castle Bar in town recommended by our host, good Irish food there also. There is a lovely girl named Sarah who works for Theresa and Albert she is a sweetheart, very friendly and was very helpful on places to see and things to do around the area. Very quite, wonderful food, very relaxing. Everything we were looking for. Will return as soon as possible. Highly recommend this quest house!!!
