Reviews for Hotel Palatinus City Center
Review 1:Old furniture, old bathroom, old TV. Feeling of 80`s
Review 2:Clean, very good location, in center of Pecs. Nice staff, good breakfast, room at 5th floor with spectacular view.
Review 3:Excellent central location in Pecs. Easy walking to all old town sites. Staff were very friendly, most helpful, and willing to assist. If you have a car there is a hotel carpark where you can leave you car for a small fee. Restaurant has a good dinner menu and serves a very good breakfast. This hotel has great character.
Review 4:Guys, it's time for a renovation. At least the apartments looking to the Kiraly Utca.
Review 5:It's in the heart of Pecs, on the Kiraly utca. Parking back-door was handy
Review 6:Great location right in the city centre, beautiful retro style, friendly and helpful stuff, copious breakfast and very delicious dinner. We left very early in the morning before breakfast time and they packed food for us.
Review 7:The size of the room. It was very small.
Review 8:Reception very friendly. They did know what they were talking about and not afraid of telling you that there are things they don't know (wifi-working).
Review 9:The hotel got old in the past years, looks like it hasn't been renovated for decades. During weekend nights heavy bass of some bars can be heard even through the closed window. Once I've heard a waiter swearing in the restaurant, it was pretty surprising.
Review 10:Location is perfect, room is clean, most of the staff is friendly and helpful.
Review 11:Hard to think of any shortcomings, really.
Review 12:Excellent location - just a few meters down a quiet street, yet two minutes walk from the city's main square; easy walking distance to the historic sights, museums, galleries and restaurants. Helpful, knowledgeable staff. Expansive, delicious breakfast. Including six different types of honey for your tea or coffee!
Review 13:very shabby room, very dirty with sticky stuff on the night table I needed to remove, broken hair dryer, horrible bathroom
Review 14:amazing ground floor & exterior building architecture , good breakfast, great location, great morning staff allowed me to enter cordonned off atrium area to take pictures
Review 15:It's one thing to call something antique and an other to not renovate it for at least 30 years....the room has an awful '80 design, old furniture, too used beds, thin walls, etc...
Review 16:The location of the hotel is great
Review 17:Room was a bit small with little storage space for clothes.
Review 18:The staff were superb - friendly, helpful and thoroughly accommodating. Arnold and Dora were particularly helpful and so nice!
Review 19:Room small and shabby compared to the beautiful lobby. Bed uncomfortable. No air conditioning. Front desk staff seemed inexperienced and badly need customer service training.
Review 20:Perfect city-centre location in a beautiful art deco building. Secure underground parking (although you have to pay). Great breakfast with very accommodating wait staff.
Review 21:The room design may need some more home-classic touch. The size of the room is not that big as one would expect.
Review 22:We liked the location of the hotel. The restaurant and the service. Good breakfast and a decent Hungarian menu for lunch.
Review 23:The hotel is in a very beautiful and stylish art nouveau building, located in the very centre of Pecs. It is in a pedestrian zone, but still there is a very easy access to an underground garage. We also liked very much our balcony.
Review 24:Lack of air conditioning on a very hot night, but a fan was provided on request. Because the area is pedaestrianised taxi has to arrive thro' garage and there is no elevator for the initial part - awkward with cases or for disabled.
Review 25:The building itself is a gem -delighted to be able to stay there. The location is superb, and the view from 5th floor over the city at night excellent.
Review 26:The not yet renovated rooms are very cheap, but don´t have air condition. If you need that, you can pay 10 Euro more and change to a room with AC.
Review 27:A charming art-deco hotel with a long history in the very center of the town. I stayed in of the not yet renovated rooms in the top floor for incredible 40 Euro per night in August (a double room for single use). The furniture is a bit outdated, but everything is clean and comfortable. Great view above the roofs of the town. Fantastic breakfast in bead with no surcharge!
Review 28:Poor mattresses Breakfast fair. Evening meal quality very poor uess you prefer quantity rather than quality.
Review 29:Great location near city centre. Quaint old style and renovations
Review 30:Our economy room was very small and the furniture was old. However, at that price one should not expect more - or book a higher priced room in the building.
Review 31:The public areas of the hotel are spectacular.
Review 32:The maid shows up with chocolates and walks in the door 15 minutes after my arrival. I was indisposed but she wouldn't leave until I got the chocolates from her.
Review 33:The hotel is classic and beautiful. The lobby is so pretty it is a tourist location.
Review 34:Seeing how much it deteriorated over the years! This national treasure should be looked after and restored to its formal glory and splendor. Would get more tourists for sure.
Review 35:The friendly attitude of all the Hotel staff!!! The beautiful "Ball-Room" Central position.
Review 36:It was a wedding we were not informed about, but they turnef down the music at midnight so sleep was no problem.
Review 37:The location of the hotel is absolutely perfect. Very friendly and helpfull staff. Nice breakfast served everyday.
Review 38:Very comfortable stay. Lovely building. Perfect location. Upgraded for small fee received cakes and biscuits on arrival. Best breakfast in Hungary. Walk straight out into central area
Review 39:Although I am very sound sleeper, bed was so bad I woke up like three times a night. Breakfast coffee was undrinkable strange liquid.
Review 40:Hotel has really excellent location and one of a kind fin de siecle interior of the ground floor. Staff was friendly and forthcoming, and everything went smoothly from arrival to departure.
Review 41:Everything i s OK, I have no objections.
Review 42:Very friendly staff, hotel location, varied breakfast, parking at the hotel. Overall iimpression: I'll recommend the hotel to my friends.
Review 43:Wonderful design and décor from a previous era providing a unique ambience Huge restaurant with tables to match Helpful and courteous staff Great to see the classic British car - Austin Healey - in the wine shop next door
Review 44:amazing art nouveau building, very central. You could almost expect Hercule Poireau to appear. Car parking was in a secure location attached to the hotel
Review 45:When we arrived, there was strong smell of burned oil in lobby and corridors. I wouldnt attend the restaurant this evening. Rooms are small, and with a bit dated furniture. In spite of old building, there is no soundproofing from corridors or outside - noise. I was expecting noblessness and ancient elegancy of old hotels but here I was dissapointed.
Review 46:Old hotel in the very pedestrian zone near main square. Own parking garage with underground corridor.
Review 47:The room was a little cramped with one side of the double bed up against a wall.
Review 48:A beautiful historic hotel right in the centre of Pecs. Nice quiet room. Great nights sleep. Staff were very courteous and helpful. Great selection at the breakfast buffet.
Review 49:Despite having booked a room with half board, both waiters and receptionists constantly and annoyingly tried to bill extra charges for dinner.
Review 50:Excellent location in the very heart of the city. Underground parking facility. Marvelous Art Nouveau style architecture outside and inside as well. Comfortable beds. Bathroom equipped with bathtub. Nice panoramic view from the upper floors.
Review 51:Nothing bad
Review 52:Location perfect in the city Good breakfast Very nice staff Dinner at the hotel good Very good price Booked one night but stayed three
Review 53:We were shown a standard room but it was old, worn and had a stained shower curtain so we stuck to a tiny, but renovated economy room. Received washed but stained towels and towels that smelled like bleach. The rooms are highly variable and the restaurant staff was not good.
Review 54:The location is great and the breakfast room is pretty, but that's not enough to warrant staying here. Only stay one night, but really I wouldn't recommend this hotel.
Review 55:Friendly & Helpful staff; perfect inner city location. Above average breakfast buffet for 3-star hotel. Overall excellent value for the nightly rate.
Review 56:Some bits and pieces in the bathroom were missing, the floor was also a bit dirty from use, but overall the staff, location and overall quality are very high.
Review 57:Breakfast could be a bit better.
Review 58:Old-fashioned but very nice 3* hotel in the heart of Pecs. Friendly staff. WiFi works perfectly in the room. Room comfort and clean. Definitely value for money.
Review 59:the old fashioned non-friendly attitude of the older ( managing) staff AND...the quality of the very cheap toiletpaper
Review 60:I liked the atmosphere of fin de siecle grandeur, the magnificent lobby, the friendly attitude of the young staff
Review 61:The hotel is close to the main attractions, at the same time the hotel was quiet. There have really good views on the city. I recommend the hotel as good place to stay.
Review 62:The beds of room was not so good and small like the business poor hotel. Facilities of the room were not so fine.
Review 63:The robby of entrance is fine for alnuvo fashions. It is wonderful for us. The first impresson for the hotel gave the nice feeling to us.
Review 64:Breakfast a bit basic, but still not bad for the price. Would have liked a safe in the room.
Review 65:Hard to fault at around £40 per night. Parking very convenient.
Review 66:The walls are very thin, you can hear the neighbour speaking. The sauna does not work on sunday.
Review 67:The hotel is excellent located in the centre and has an underground parking space.
Review 68:Room was small, with little in the way of drawer space for clothes. Hand-held shower was awkward to use. Central heating but no air-conditioning. Room not very well insulated from other rooms and the corridor, so was occasionally noisy. No bar.
Review 69:Location was ideal in the City centre, with a variety of restaurants and wine bars close by. Breakfast was reasonable, with a good selection available. Bed was more comfortable than it first appeared.
Review 70:It's a pity that Danubius hotels have not lofted the tone of the hotel still further. The building deserves a grander hotel within. The underground parking is very good but impossible to find without a sat-nav. The food at dinner in the restaurant was rather pedestrian.
Review 71:A magnificent building with presence right in the centre of Pecs. Excellent position and a well-run mid market hotel. Much more could be made of it
Review 72:The property is falling appart, everything is broken, ugly and worn-out Dirty carpets, hair in the sheets, dead insects on the floors, smelly bathrooms, no toiletries. Breakfast was of apalling quality, coffee undrinkable.
Review 73:Location. Most of the staff were Ok (but don't speak any English).
Review 74:Noisey guests on our floor! Church bells woke us at 7am No tea and coffee in our room Room size restricting
Review 75:Very central location Decor lovely Breakfast good Staff helpful and friendly
Review 76:The hotel has a lot of character - but it is in serious need of renovation. The bed was old and not very firm. I'm not sure the hotel is very clean, either. This makes it too expensive for what it is. Shame, as the location is perfect and it has great potential.
Review 77:Great location, right in the heart of the town. Easy parking underground. Staff very helpful.
Review 78:You have to carry your luggage up some steps to get from garage to hotel.
Review 79:The breakfast was very good. The hotel is located right in the center of the pedestrian area. Many fine restaurants nearby. Classic style hotel very well maintained. Staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. Wonderful, inexpensive laundry service which is great when you are on the road for a month. Nice garage attached to the hotel.
Review 80:Definitely take a room with AC. We chose not to do it because we didn't feel it was really hot outside but it was really needed.
Review 81:Staff was really friendly and willing to interact with customers. Breakfast served in the restaurant is plentiful and very good. Decoration also contributed to it.
Review 82:The rooms do not live up to the beauty of the lobby and building itself. It's all about expectation - if we had known that the room and the salon were rather dingy and depressing, we would have been less disappointed. The first room we were given smelled very strongly of smoke, and the second one smelled like the window hadn't been opened in a very long time, and it was very small for the price. The AC didn't work (it only blew stale warm air even though we put it on the lowest temperature and maximum fan) so we had to ask for a fan and open the window. My Booking.com reservation included a "coupon" for a massage, which I understood to be free. It should be more clearly stated on the site that it means only a reduction. I had a misunderstanding with the poor woman working in the salon because of it, and if I had understood better, I would have been less insistent with her! It would have been nice if the receptionist had explained it more clearly as well. Also, we expected to be able to take advantage of the sauna straight away, but it was not on, and we had to come back 45 minutes later. The receptionist could have explained that to us as well because the lady in the salon seemed to be taken completely unawares by our arrival. Also, the Bartok ballroom was closed. Too bad we couldn't even take a look!
Review 83:The lobby is indeed gorgeous, and the breakfast buffet is fabulous in the beautiful dining room. The sauna was very hot and efficient, and we had the rooftop lounge to ourselves. The Pecs card that was part of the promotional offer was particularly useful and appreciated. It made up for the price that is out of proportion to the standard of the room.
Review 84:Very small room Note no double beds though ordered on 4th and 5th floor Outdated furniture
Review 85:Excellent location Nice lobby and building Complete breakfast
Review 86:Staff at reception unfriendly. we had two rooms on 5th floor in end on July, extremley hot couldn't sleep for a second.hotel needs a refurbishment badly.
Review 87:None that I can remember
Review 88:Everything was great! From truly helpful staff that speaks both English and German, and were able to get me headache painkillers in 4AM, to the general service in the hotel. Everybody was so pleasant and the hotel itself couldn't be on a better location. I truly recommend this hotel to anybody who wants great service and an excellent starting point for walking around the city.
Review 89:They don't have AC in the rooms, this is horrible, the carpet is like 20 years old, too dirty with a lot of bugs. The have just only a few rooms with AC and of course they don't give to us because we book our rooms through www.booking.com. I think if you book directly they have much better rooms in the second and third floor. I think the owners of these hotels doesn't care about the situation of their units in floors 4th and 5th. It's a completely a mess, dirty, without AC in these floors and the WIFI is horrible!!!! they don't have WIFI and AC just only a little in the lobby and restaurant.
Review 90:The location is outstanding. The mattress is good.
Review 91:Only cold eggs for breakfast
