Reviews for Pico Sands Hotel

Review 1:The hotel personnel were very accommodating. Security, shuttle drivers and the staff taking care of the resort grounds were very friendly. The resort was kept clean and well maintained.

Review 2:The food was not bad but it also was not the best. The buffet shouldn't be pricey at P800 per head but because the choices were very limited, the food was cold (at 1230PM) and even the gelatin was runny.

Review 3:I've been to Pico before and this is our 3rd time to visit. My family loves being there - the facilities are great, the beach though not white sand is well-maintained (it is cleaned everyday- can you believe that?) and that there are several pools ensures that it is not crowded even when the hotel is fully booked. Food is not the best (if its soup it should be hot!) but it is not bad either. Don't expect the buffet lunch to be 'out of this world'. The staff are great and I would like to commend most specially Bella at Front Desk who did all within her means to make sure all (including us) who came with a problem walked away with a solution. She's amazing and was there during all our stay which was Christmas weekend. Lastly, do not miss a visit at the spa!

Review 4:I didn't like my room's decor. Might be different in other rooms but mine felt unfinished. However, I was still comfortable despite that. Oh and the sand at the beach was so hot that it busted the threads of my Nike tsinelas :) but other than that, no complaints.

Review 5:All of the staff were very accommodation. Especially Ivanne. Very friendly and easy to approach for all transactions.

Review 6:Not too much option on restaurants or choices of food in the menu. You'll run out of option if you stay for 3 days. The reception during check-in is not too friendly and really slow. We requested ahead of time for rooms beside each other as part of the comments during the booking and that was not provided.

Review 7:2 hour drive from Metro Manila coming from the South Complete facilities Big Room and its own air-con housekeeping staff are friendly Try reserving the private cove (2 days ahead of time), it's a nice place to swim with finer sand

Review 8:Some charges were a bit expensive for us like extra person for 2,200

Review 9:Despite the low review score before we came here, this place is actually breathtaking!! We were 12 in the group and everyone is raving about it and are already planning to come back! Our stay is definitely one of the most memorable in our family getaways. So many facilities to enjoy (we especially liked bowling), dinner and breakfast were both delicious, and the shuttle takes you to places picture perfect. Special mention: Upon checkout, the receptionist who took care of splitting the total amount into the appropriate balance for each of our 4 rooms based on expenses and proportion to the number of people, I think was very reliable and amazing. Who would want to do any math when relaxing? :) Thank you, you are on the top of our list in family destinations in Batangas.

Review 10:The overpriced, badly cooked food in the hotel & lagoon area. The members-only dining area by the beach are off limits to hotel guests, even though there is nobody eating in that exclusive area, (maybe the food there is worse?)

Review 11:The magnificent view, and the way the buildings blend in nicely with nature.

Review 12:We were pleased with the resort facilities though we were not warned that most of the amenities/activities-beach, bowling, tennis, etc- were chargeable( not inclusive of the daily rate. The food at the Pico Sands hotel was average but very expensive. We had a salad, a small starter of bread(4 small slices) with sardines, pancit habhab and soda drink..we were charged 1,500 pesos for 2 person sharing the meal. t was ok but I expect more for that price. Also, there was a party going on with loud music until after 12mn. We were there to relax and rest! I phoned the reception to inform about the noise(that was around after 10pm), we were told the party will carry on until 11pm...it stopped actually after midnight. You should have facilities for sound proof room for parties as other guests were adults/elderly who need to rest and relax.

Review 13:The staff were polite and courteous. A swim to the big pool, at least was not chargeable. Buffet breakfast was ok.

Review 14:Rooms are big and practical, not very luxurious for the price you pay. Same with the hotel restaurant, nice but hoped for beter, luckily there are other restaurants that are up to the standard.

Review 15:Very beautiful location, great pool and also nice beach. Indoor play area with airco, very good. Lovely people as staff.

Review 16:The use of some facilities should be complimentary for hotel guests like the gym and sauna.

Review 17:Exclusice area, calm, peaceful and tranquil location. Excellent facilities, good internet and corteous staff.

Review 18:The resort is showing signs of age or maybe lack of maintenance in some areas. There are several restaurants but the menu is the same for all. The menu is also a little unimaginative. The hotel rooms and corridors are all ceramic tile which make the rooms very noisy. But I guess you can wait till you get home for a good nights sleep.

Review 19:Thie resort setting is spectacular. Staff are genuine and friendly. The range of activities is was a surprise. It's a short trip from Manila. The location also makes day trips to local attractions like Mt Palay Palay National Park easy.

Review 20:Everything individually chargeable, which was annoying. Constantly signing receipts for everything

Review 21:Would be excellent for families with children - lots of activities. Pool area is great

Review 22:The hotel is so nice, the view is breath taking especially on d beach side. The design of d pool is cute, & d chapel also, the whole place is clean. The hotel staffs are very accomodating, friendly, all smiling & very quick about their response regarding our needs & especially on d time we ask for emergency assistance, d emergency aid staffs are very helpful, they brought my nephew in d hospital & even waited longer until my nephew had stabilized his condition & when d fever subdided, fortunately my nephew was not confined in hospital so they brought back in d hotel. After then, They checked my nephew fr time to time while we were staying d rest of our day in d hotel... thank to all d staffs! I would love to go back there once again & i would highly recommend this hotel to all my friends!!!...

Review 23:Awful food. Far too crowded. Poor room quality vs price (dirty smelly shower) / cheap bed / parking lot view. Poor service (40 minutes for cold pizza). Long check in / check out lines. Dirty ocean water / no marine life. Poor quality beach and pool chairs. Large bothersome flying insects on beach. Overly crowded pool / difficult to find seating. Bothersome life guards constantly blowing whistles for unknown reasons. Kiddie slide shutdown all day on second day of two day visit. Bowling alley constantly fully booked. Very poor quality food and drinks. Wilkins / viva water products not offered.

Review 24:Proximity of hotel to Manila / 1.5-2 hour drive. Nice sandy beach.

Review 25:Umm the wifi was really slow, but it did say that due to the location the wifi is kinda bad, so it was ok, since i had a data plan on my phone anyway. And when we came, the clubhouse restaurant was closed since it was being renovated or something, which was a little disappointing, but again it'sok.

Review 26:I guess you're experience really varies what season you go, We came off season so there were only a few other gusts staying in the the vicinity. With that said, we were able to capitalize the big beach front for ourselves! Our main worry was the Beach Ckub Only Area, don't fret, the only difference, from what i can see, is a big lounge area where i guess, you can hang. One thing we were surprised about is the price of the convenient store, the restaurant, and the gift shop weren't surprisingly marked up like what you usually see in other hotels. So the consumable you pay at the front desk is enough for a 3 night stay. I say if you're going as a couple or a small family, the price difference between renting a condo and booking for the hotel is small, for us , staying 3 night the difference was 2~3k so we were glad we booked the hotel. Would definitely go back!

Review 27:Nothing much to do because of limited time staying outdoors, like: beach closes at 6pm while swimming pool at 8pm, beach resto closes as well, limited menu both indoor & outdoor restos, etc.

Review 28:Room service/Housekeeping:It took so long everytime we asked something from the housekeeping/room service like ice, make up room and more.

Review 29:Great service from staff name Jeff from Pico Resto during breakfast! :-)

Review 30:missing the place on our last day...

Review 31:The lobby was bright and elegant, crispy clean and smells fresh. Big happy smiles on all the crew and staff of the hotel, restaurant, tiki-bar, and spa. Love the clean white bed sheets and towels. The drivers were very cheerful and conversant.

Review 32:There are restricted areas for non-members: pool beside the beach, air-conditioned restaurant near the beach. Air-conditioning is not enough inside the rooms and in their restaurants especially during hot days. During weekends, peak months, breakfast buffet areas were not enough. Long lines in the buffet, not enough seating capacity. Food choices are limited and tends to be satiating already.

Review 33:Nice pool and rooms. Nice view of the lagoon.

Review 34:There was a puddle of water one time during our stay because the aircon was malfunctioning. The room was okay but falls short of the luxury hotel category. The line to check out was very long.

Review 35:Beach front services more benefit towards members not hotel guest , a required 2,500 pesos per room expense charge so you are forced to eat at their restaurants or spend money. Awfully expensive price range for activities for hotel guest..

Review 36:Scenic view

Review 37:You pay for everything, extra towel. There was a few hidden fees, like an 1800php sports and rec Vat???? Can't find that in T&C's. just be aware, what ever you pick up, you pay for. Other than that, stay is pleasant.

Review 38:From other reviews i was a little worried coming into our stay. But when we turned up, it was lovely, location is excellent, check in was a breeze, room was large and clean. Beach was great, pool was great. I really enjoyed my stay there. Spa was also very good.

Review 39:i didn't like the idea of paying 2500 consumable deposit, and the guards in the front gate weren't accommodating enough, we even drove back home for his misleading info.

Review 40:I like that the hotel is nestled in a serene area. The place isn't also crowded which is a great factor so you can enjoy more. They have maintained their facilities well!

Review 41:a confirmed booking at the spa was re scheduled without proper notification. we were scheduled at 10 pm, all 7 of us and it tuned out that only 4 could be accommodated at 10 and the rest at 11. this was confirmed but when we checked one hour before, we were told that only 4 can be accommodated.

Review 42:the property development is well developed with plenty of activities for children. staff were pleasant and easy to talk to. \manager on duty was very helpful and welcoming.

Review 43:The Wifi too slow we didn't use it althrough out our stay the facilities closed early night we can't access the pool gym karaoke etc .

Review 44:The location is partly perfect but expensive ..

Review 45:Poor food rude staf There is worms in the salad and thy didn't apologize Also booking . Com wasent helpful Thy didn't refund my money Never again t

Review 46:Nothing

Review 47:Customer service. Lots of room for improvement. The price tag is the same as a five star hotel but the concerns and accommodating service were not at par. Only the luggage crew have initiatives. The room needs sofa, sound system alarm clock to name a few.

Review 48:Landscape is superb. Relaxing place. Other amenities such as bowling billiards and videoke

Review 49:*too expensive, rates are too high. In one room (w/ loft) it can accomodate up to 6pax, but only 2 are allowed, the rest is extra person with extra cost. *and the wi-fi sevice, oh too bad, so bad...

Review 50:Everything you requested like additional blanket for my children it will cost additional charges to our room. If we did not complain and reacted they will simply add to your bill

Review 51:The place is somewhat new so the ambiance is relax and quiet.

Review 52:However the business model of packing as many people in as possible through the hotel, club, condos and day trippers, especially on weekends, is a pain. It feels cheap with your identifying wrist band and segregated areas. Plus you pay for the extras like using the gym or kids play area. The cost is minimal but you feel nickel and dimed all the way through. Still the convenience factor is huge if you have limited time and want to get out of manila.

Review 53:The hotel setting is spectacularly beautiful. Its hard to believe you are just a couple hours outside Manila.

Review 54:Price-/performance Client not seen as guest, but as ATM Staff untrained (some friendly, some not) Everywhere extra charges Long c/i procedure

Review 55:- restaurant staff (ladies) were friendly - SPA employee

Review 56:The hotel room is not impressive. The staff in the restaurant doesn't know how to treat the customer right. They were very unfriendly. We also asked to reheat our "sinigang" coz they served it warm, they serve it after 15 mins! Oh boy! Money is not worth in staying in pico.

Review 57:Swimming pool

Review 58:Location, the resort is like a prison- security at every stage. Nothing to do outside of its walls except private guide hiking on a nearby hill which was a good experience. The restaurants bar one all close at 8pm!!

Review 59:Beach, nearby hillwalking on mountain, although need private guide

Review 94:Proximity

Review 95:Beach

Review 96:Beach has jelly fish. On top of your hotel payment, you have to pay additional PhP 2,500 consumable.

Review 97:Road going to Pico de Loro is scenic

Review 98:room rates are expensive & the extra charge per person is expensive too!

Review 119:Good location, nice rooms, friendly staff

Review 120:the rules

Review 121:the whole vicinity

Review 122:All!

Review 123:Everything is good except for the quality of food, most specially the breakfast buffet, needs improvement, few selections and unsavory and pricey

Review 124:Poor service POOR FOOD ROOM SERVICE EXPENSIVE FOOD PRICEY STAY

Review 125:Lagoa restaurant the food is really great

Review 126:restaurant service, food options for buffet breakfast, lack of room comforts like slippers, inferior bathe supplies.

Review 127:Location, beach, amenities

Review 128:There were too many rules to follow. This didn't make us feel relaxed and totally comfortable as guest. Also, there totally no exclusivity whatsoever. Thus, on the weekend, the resort was just too packed for comfort. You can't enjoy the beautiful nature surrounding you.

Review 129:The staff were friendly and helpful. The grounds and surrounding areas were lush and beautiful. The rooms were comfortable and had a beautiful view of the mountains.

Review 130:Very poor staff . Breakfast was a disaster. The could not handle the number of guests.lack of everything including plates, juice glass. Very limited facilities . Will not come back and not recommend to anybody

Review 131:slow service due to heavy influx of guests poor treatment to the drivers considering a driver is needed to reach such an isolated area(not allowed to sleep in own cars, driver's area is at the other end of the resort and costs p500 to stay there)

Review 132:great ambiance and amenities

Review 133:There was jellyfish in the beach and I knew more about first aid than their staff. The food was limited in assortment and the food in "Reef" was not good. Not worth buying. The food service should be more premier considering the prices they are charging. The balcony door in our room was malfunctioning.

Review 134:The place was a very nice place for a weekend trip. I love the service and the staff was courteous, friendly and very accommodating. I especially liked the executive chef of Lagoa, Lia, and the staff Alex, who accommodated us in the restaurant even if they were closed that time. The pool was very nice and I liked how peaceful it felt there.
