Reviews for Harvey's Point

Review 1:Being here was an amazing experience came home and have booked Harvey's point again can't wait to go back a very special place to spend quality time in and the staff very experienced and friendly. Dinning outstanding thank you all for an amazing stay.

Review 2:This hotel is absolutely gorgeous! The staff are all welcoming and friendly including the manager who made sure we had complimentary drinks for my daughter's 21st !

Review 3:Harvey's Point is a touch of luxury. Our room was huge and had everything you would need. The bathroom was fabulous with a hot tub, double sink and power shower. I used the treatment rooms while there and came out relaxed. The food in the bar was excellent and the restaurant was amazing, so many taste sensations. Breakfast had a lovely selection and definitely suited our requirements. But the best thing about Harvey's Point is the staff. So friendly and efficient, always welcoming and ensuring you are having a fantastic stay. A wonderful treat

Review 4:The only criticism was that the menu for the restaurant was too 'gourmet' for us. A few plain dishes without fancy sauces would be good. We didn't understand what half of the dishes were.

Review 5:The rooms are unbelievable. We stayed in an 'ordinary' executive suite and as the door is opened it's just amazing. The bathroom had underfloor heating and was luxurious. Such a change from small minimal rooms.

Review 6:The breakfast staff were not at all helpful. We were not advised you could order from a menu rather than eat the buffet food. The lady who served us ask if we wanted tea or coffee, I asked for tea, and never got any.

Review 7:Our suite was amazing. Never seen a bigger room. It was very dated though, as was the hotel in general.

Review 8:One small recommendation would be daily specials on the bar menu.

Review 9:We decided to celebrate our first wedding anniversary in Harvey's Point. From the moment we arrived we felt relaxed and at ease. We received a wonderful welcome at reception. Staff throughout the entire hotel were so friendly and helpful. Our suite was stunning, so spacious with everything you could possibly need. I particularly loved the large bath. The scenery is spectacular with lots of local walks and rambles to chose from. The breakfast, overlooking the lake was excellent, with lots of healthy options. It was out first visit to Harvey's Point but definitely not our last. We loved it!

Review 10:loved it all.

Review 11:Even with a young child this hotel was so relaxing and enabled us to unwind. Staff very helpful and will definitely be back but hopefully for longer the next time. Very peaceful but warming. Couldn't have asked for anything more.

Review 12:From approach road to the hotel, the setting on the lake, and the beautiful large room (we stayed in an executive suite), everything about Harvey's point was stunning. They have a beautiful reading room downstairs to enjoy views of the lake and the breakfast has a choice selection of fresh varied and healthy options.

Review 13:We were both very disappointed with the very limited bar menu and that it didn't alter bearing in mind the excellant standard of the breakfast the bar food was quite mundane.

Review 14:There was almost nothing to dislike

Review 15:The comfort and general ambience. The helpful & very friendly staff. The weather was excellent, but even in bad weather we'd have been quite comfortable in your excellent reading room.

Review 16:This was the first time we stayed in Harvey's Point, having stayed close-by in the past. The hotel was excellent in all respects, location, comfort and food. A must-return venue.

Review 17:I loved the room, the bath. Bliss. The grounds were lovely. The staff on check in so nice and down to earth and friendly. Possibly the nicest staff ive ever have contact with in any hotel. The waiting staff were great. A really fantastic team. Our dinner was gorgeous although a little on the cold side. Breakfast was delicious. I loved that food was cookes in front of you. The black cat was super cute. An animal friendly hotel.

Review 18:Everything was superb and I will be telling my friends where to go for a relaxing break

Review 19:The room was one of the best we have stayed in the staff are so helpful and friendly the linen soap I used in the room was so nice when I got home I tried to buy some but found out to my disappointment it was for hotels only

Review 20:Having to leave

Review 21:Harveys point is a 5* hotel with 4* prices. We have travelled nearly all of western and eastern Europe and stayed in many hotels from 2* to 5* and found that no hotel comes anyware close to Harvey's Point

Review 22:The friendly staff as you arrived .Standard and choice of food .Service in restaurant excellent staff very helpful but not over powering . Cabaret great value and entertainment . Room spacious and comfortable we really enjoyed our stay .Thank you .

Review 23:Evening meal served 1 course per hour. Shambles Most tables not eating but waiting Food itself when arrived great Breakfast was great and self service / chef service nearly made up for ruined nights dinner

Review 24:Most things

Review 25:No actual short walks/paths to enjoy at hotel. Thought more could've been done with the grounds and more made of beautiful location at back of hotel, overlooking lough, eg seating, walks, coffee bar etc

Review 26:Parking facilities excellent. Size of bedroom and bathroom, brilliant! Very clean. Loved the tea and coffee facilities in room. Complimentary cookies a lovely touch.

Review 27:Much too far to walk because the hotel is so spread out. I would not have coped if a wheelchair had not been found. Gluten-free breakfast cereals were a bit grim. Cornflakes bought from most supermarkets (Tesco, Sainsbury) are gluten-free, but Kellogg's Cornflakes are full of gluten.

Review 28:Lovely food and brilliant bathroom (especially the hottub.

Review 29:Nothing....maybe a taxi drive into donegal town but this time we didnt do that so not an issue

Review 30:Just about everything....quiet relaxing and well worth the money...slightly on the expensive side but sometimes you get what you pay for...agree on this occassion

Review 31:It's hard to find a negative. Fires are used to keep the bar and dining room warm Unfortunately, this made the lounge area so smoky it was difficult to enjoy.

Review 32:The rooms are what sets this hotel apart from all others: very large, well furnished, and beautifully decorated. The food is excellent as well, and so is the service.

Review 33:What's not to like??

Review 34:Rooms are fantastic, spacious and very comfortable. The hotel is off the beaten track but quite easily found and the lakeside setting is beautiful.

Review 35:Only complaint was that we only discovered the library on the of our departure. This is a lovely comfortable room looking out on a the lake and well kept garden.

Review 36:The staff were outstanding in their helpfulness especially the head porter Sean

Review 37:The fact that we had only booked for one day, but we will be back.

Review 38:Nothing was too much trouble for the staff who really understood Customer expectations. The dinner was of the highest standard served by staff that were knowledgable about the menu and served the four courses at exactly the right time for our pace of eating.

Review 39:The rain..!

Review 40:Lobby between bedroom and corridor which cut out the hall noise, background music in bathroom and separate seating area for television. A good breakfast and meal

Review 41:Couldnt find fault with this hotel.

Review 42:The setting was very relaxing food was excellent rooms very spacious and luxurious staff were polite and helpful

Review 43:My wife did not like the mattress. It was uncomfortable to her but ok for me. My wife has a bad back. We would have liked a pool to swim in. In saying this we did have a fabulous time and will be back.

Review 44:The overall staff welcome and always ready to assist. The room was great and the food in the resturant was superb.

Review 45:The location a little far out but the beauty of the place is really more than enough to compensate for that

Review 46:The rooms very posh cosy and beautifully decorated

Review 47:none

Review 48:Friendly welcome, great atmosphere, beautiful setting on the lake nice walks and swans ducks geese and cygnets what a sight. Bedrooms excellent and perfect with all the facilities. The perfect place to stay would recommend 110%.

Review 49:Some staff were downright surly. Food mediocre and not enough variety for a four night stay. Bar was too "pub like " and frankly vulgar in taste. Dogs allowed in our rooms which were dusty and looked unclean Restaurant staff sometimes verging on being surly and conversely at times ott friendly! Not being informed about the reading until the morning of our departure. Similarly not being told about road works right outside the hotel which severely restricted access.

Review 50:The location and the room size. Splendid bathroom with good toiletries. Reception friendly and welcoming

Review 51:There is nothing to dislike about Harvey's point.

Review 52:This is the most pleasurable and luxuriant hotel I have ever stayed in and I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to all my family and friends. There are not enough superlatives in the dictionary to explain how goo Harvey's point is.

Review 53:Size of room, friendliness and willingness of staff to assist, buffet breakfast, tranquility of lake ... the list goes on! (Julia and her housekeeping team have earned a particular mention.) my wife also thoroughly enjoyed the massage on offer.

Review 54:The room wasn't ready when we arrived at 3.45 and we were asked to wait 15 minutes in the bar where we would be served complimentary tea.. this was lovely. We went back to reception after 30 minutes and were told to wait another 20 minutes. We went for a walk and came back to be told to wait another 5 minutes. This time a really lovely lady was quite apologetic and told us she would find us in the bar and take us up.We went to the bar and got a drink and she arrived with the key. When we finally got to the room , it certainly did not disappoint. However, I was a little put off at being charged for the "complimentary " tea as it was on the bill at departure- only a few euro so it wasn't the price but it put a dampner on it when leaving after such a lovely time. I was too embarrassed to mention it and cause a fuss.

Review 55:Attention to detail...real fires, fine choice of wines, excellent food very friendly staff... Sean is a gem! The views are fab.. al very peaceful. The room was superb and the bed so very comfortable.

Review 56:The staff were so welcoming and friendly. The upgrade to a deluxe suite was appreciated so much The atmosphere around the hotel and grounds was so so relaxed -exactly what was needed! :)

Review 57:Lighting over the bed made it very hard to read a book in bed

Review 58:I loved sitting by the fire in the bar or by the fire in the library over looking the lake. We loved the huge Jacuzzi bath in our ensuite.

Review 59:We booked a weekend night away, as we are expecting our first child in Septemeber and enjoying our time together before little one arrives, We had just revelled to our friends and family that week! Was a lovely treat! Staff were very friendly! We had bar food for dinner, the mushroom risotto was out of this world!! My husband had the beef ciabatta which he though was delicious! Will definitely be back!

Review 60:The location is perfect if you really just want to completely chill out & enjoy some delicious food. The great thing is that it seems to be so remote but Donegal town is just a few kilometeres away!

Review 61:There was nothing bad about my stay here

Review 62:I liked all aspects of the hotel eg the location the staff the grounds and food. I'm Glad I booked this hotel

Review 63:No negatives only positives.

Review 64:Second visit and it was as good as the first. The staff are very friendly and the food is delicious. The rooms are big and the bathroom amazing. the scenery is beautiful and the dusting of snow made it even more spectacular.

Review 65:Difficult to find something negative about the stay. At a stretch I would have to say my restaurant experience could possibly have been better. The only other negative was my stay was too brief.

Review 66:The comfort of the luxurious rooms; the excellent food and service with a smile. Top class hospitality and a pleasure to spend time at such a beautiful place.

Review 67:The only comment I would make as a very frequent hotel user was that the quality of pillows, linen and duvet for a hotel of this price was rather less than I would have expected.

Review 68:Lovely use of space and views. Great to see the restaurant so busy at the end of January. Food was lovely and every member of staff seemed to be so proud of the place, it added up to a real feel good atmosphere.

Review 69:we loved everything about our stay from our beautiful room great breakfast and fabulous dinners. The staff were very friendly we felt very comfortable.

Review 70:-some drafts in the windows in the bar -seats in the bar were not comfortable

Review 71:-beautiful room -food was stunning -staff were friendly -setting was idealic and relaxing

Review 72:We both had a lovely, relaxing stay at Harvey's Point. The location is lovely, the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel itself is sheer luxury and it's a wonderful experience to stay in it. We went to the Christmas cabaret, which was great fun and the food was very good. We ate in the bar the following night, and while the menu was small, the food was very tasty. I would highly recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a relaxing, luxurious and enjoyable break away from it all.

Review 73:Absolutely nothing

Review 74:Just about everything Fabulous walks around ground and surrounding area, beautiful view from dining room out into lake. Pay the priced its worth it

Review 75:swimming pool/spa etc. but not that bothered

Review 76:weather was horrible, but who cares! No need to leave :-). Great room, great staff, gorgeous food, extremely comfortable stay!!

Review 77:Menu quite limited in both restaurant and bar. Also surprised to see barman pushing ice into crusher with his fingers - not very hygienic!!

Review 78:Excellent location particularly if you like walking but also for sheer relaxation.

Review 79:My partner and I have travelled and stayed in quite a few hotels and I must admit this was the best hotel we have ever been at. We were attending a friends wedding which was outstanding. The attention to detail was something I had never seen before. When the hotel realised we had got engaged they upgraded our room to a premier suite - out of this world. The staff were friendly and inviting. The food was outstanding. A definite winner of all their achievements and recognition. Will definitely be back and will highly recommend to my family and friends.

Review 80:Signage from the main road could be better.

Review 81:Luxurious accommodation (including upgrade). Very pleasing decor in keeping with the choice of the Swiss owners. We found it a great place for a celebratory weekend.

Review 82:I wanted to get some pampering done. Got phone number to a massage therapist from girl on reception. But massage therapist didn't answer her phone. Not even second day. I thought you would have a spa with a personal in it so it would be possible to choose several therapies to get myself spoiled.

Review 83:The food at your restaurant was exquisite.

Review 84:Very difficult to find fault with anything but a spa would complete the package.

Review 85:Location sublime with unspoilt natural beauty. Accomodation and food all 5 star quality.

Review 86:Special mention for the lady working in the bar Saturday night, Maria, she was an absolute gem & what a lovely manner & way she has with the guests. Also, Nancy in the restaurant, lovely friendly lady who made us feel like there was nobody else in the restaurant only my hubby & I. We were also upgraded, complementary & words could not describe the comfort & luxury we stayed in. Thank you all so so much for a truly wonderful weekend & I cannot wait to return.

Review 87:nothing

Review 88:The whole experience was excellent and will be repeated in the near future. The staff from your welcome to leaving could not have been more friendly and helpful,as for the food its mouth watering. As for the location beautiful lots of walks and lovely scenery. I will be recommend Harveys Point to friends and colleagues alike. A great stay.

Review 89:Bar prices

Review 90:Friendly helpful staff. Quality food. Luxury suites. The owners appreciation of the surroundings and history of the location. It`s evident they place great importance in recording the heritage of what went before. Very interesting.

Review 91:Leaving

Review 92:We absolutely loved every thing. From the moment we arrived until we left. The staff, the scenery, the friendliness, the beautiful room, the food!

Review 93:Nothing

Review 94:Highly impressed with the accommodation. Staff were cheerful and a model of professionalism. The standard of quisine was high and well presented. Attended the Cabaret which I thoroughly enjoyed and would have no hesitation in recommending it. The 'family' connection was much in evidence and made our stay there all the more pleasant

Review 95:I can think of nothing that I didn't find outstanding!

Review 96:The rooms were exceptional and everything was so quiet and relaxing. The dining room has outstanding views of the lough. The food was beautifully cooked and served and such good value for the quality. The staff were so friendly and polite.

Review 97:the food was a tad too pretentious and the amount too small for the price

Review 98:The room was simply amazing, the comfort of their beds is unparalleled... Very relaxing surroundings, the staff is very friendly and helpful

Review 99:We felt we would have preferred to have been in the main hotel and not outside in the one of the chalets. We felt that this should have been told to us before we arrived. Also in the chalet next door there were 2 dogs that did quite a bit of barking and disturbed us. This should have been pointed out to us too prior to our arrival.

Review 100:We loved the friendly and welcoming atmosphere throughout the hotel. Food was exceptional and we were lucky with fabulous weather which enhanced the setting of the hotel too.

Review 101:Nothing.

Review 102:From arriving to leaving we were treated excellently. Down to earth friendliness and fun. One of the best hotels we have ever visited. We will be back for certain. Highly recommended. Give it a go.

Review 103:Too much salt in the food. Why not let the diner add salt and not the chef? All staff were well trained and provided excellent service - but some were distant and lacked warmth.

Review 104:Spacious, beautifully appointed rooms. Great location with Lough Eske spectacular for 3 beautiful days. The antics of Harvey, the long resident duck.

Review 105:Everything about this hotel is amazing, from the rooms to the food, to the hospitality of the staff. We had a wonderful time and would hope to return in the future

Review 106:Harvey's Point is a marvellous hotel with pleasant helpful staff, a great location and a great restaurant. The room we had was the largest room we have stayed in with a lovely mountain view.

Review 107:Our bed though a perfectly large size was very creaky when you turned in it.

Review 108:The setting, the room, the food. And the fact that we got this as a wedding anniversary gift from our kids.

Review 109:Everything! The welcome at the reception desk, the friendly staff, the huge room, with music in the bathroom, and a comfortable bed. The corridor was very quiet day and night. Delicious food, served in beautiful surroundings. Great entertainment. Separate access to the car park, very handy for bringing in luggage etc. I will be back and would highly recommend the hotel. Judith Belfast

Review 110:Lift out of Order Not good when your on 3rd Floor Unacceptable when troubled with arthritis. This affected the quality of our stay

Review 111:Location Food Room

Review 112:The lift broke down on our first day at the hotel and remained out of service throughout our stay, as I was carrying a leg injury it meant climbing a flight of stairs with crutches.

Review 113:This hotel is in a class of its own, the executive suit we stayed in was absolutely amazing we did not want to leave. The staff were excellent and friendly, very clean hotel I can't understand why this is not 5 star, food was excellent, nice atmosphere, excellent location on Lough Eske, we will defiantly return, money well spent... Keep up the good work.

Review 114:What did we like EVERYTHING. We have visited many hotels throughout Europe and found this one is the best one we have visited. Should have a 5* rating

Review 115:The location the service the room the food all were excellent There was nothing I could fault the hotel on Not the cheapest hotel to stay in BUT you get what you pay for and you get a wonderful stay

Review 116:Staff well trained and very friendly and helpful Restaurant staff friendly, attentive and nice sense of humour Wonderful location Wonderful room Quiet and peaceful location

Review 117:The hotel is excellent-a beautiful location, spacious room, delicious food and very friendly staff. We had a wonderful time and would definitely recommend a trip to Harvey's Point.

Review 118:The seating in the bar, the seats were comfortable but not close enough to have a cosy chat.

Review 119:The food , the decor , attention to detail, the ambience, the room service , just another world , looking forward to our next trip

Review 120:The beds were not the most comfortable although I did sleep very well despite that.

Review 121:The beautiful lough side setting, the excellent staff, the elegant and very spacious bedrooms, the wonderful food, the lovely orchids everywhere....in fact just about everything.

Review 122:I loved the attentiveness and friendliness of the staff on our arrival, it was a really generous touch to be upgraded to a premier suite. The whole ambiance was perfect, the smell of the Turf fire, the fantastic setting on Lough Eske and the absolute feeling of peace and quiet. The brilliant show on Wednesday night, great entertainment, great food and superb wine. Harvey's Point Hotel is set in truly spectacular surroundings, we did a few of the recommended walks and wow the view from the walk along the road to Ardara is really special, Donegal at its best!! And yes we did go much further than we had planned. This was a special occasion for us and we wanted a bit of pampering, we weren't disappointed Harvey's Point Hotel delivered on all counts and we highly recommend it and look forward to returning next year. Best wishes to Deidre and her staff. Ronnie & Bernie Kane
