Reviews for Hotel Piccolo Mondo
Review 1:No resaurant and the one they have a relationship with next door closed. Difficult to find with a car.
Review 2:the staff were great particularly the breakfast girl and the roof top bar girl plus the receptionist.
Review 3:Biggest challenge is in room itself: old furnishings, bath/shower small and not well maintained. Minimal bath amenities provided (only shampoo).
Review 4:Couldn't ask for better views or location. Staff very friendly and helpful. Pool is well kept and clean, very comfortable on hot (and humid) days. Large number of steps should be heeded if negotiating unlevel terrain is a problem (not for us). Restaurant (where breakfast also served) had delicious dinner at reasonable price. Breakfast adequate with very friendly staff (same ones from night before's dinner).
Review 5:The rooms certainly need some maintanance, better rennovation, as the structure shows its date. Uncomfortable bed.
Review 6:Splendid location right at the seaside, big swimming pool, access to the sea, good food.
Review 7:Every morning 105 stairs to go to breakfast;no wifi on swimming pool; very dirty room .
Review 8:Swimingpool is perfect ; the lady that is on service there is perfect and do all to make your stay perfect .
Review 9:I would like to give a positive review because the staff were so lovely, however the owners need to spend some money, the pool chairs were broken, the pool was lukewarm, the room facilities were basic, and there should be a lift.
Review 10:Position perfect, staff excellent, restaurant really nice.
Review 11:The wifi worked sporadically and was slow.
Review 12:All the staff were very helpful and welcoming. Interesting layout and facilities - pool, tennis court, outside cinema(?), small beach with steep climb down etc - in a stunning location.
Review 13:The view was amazing, the food was excellent and the staff were so friendly and helpful. Overall the days we spent here were relaxing and very enjoyable, even all the steps to the beach!
Review 14:It's pretty isolated, the hotel wasn't quite what we expected. Our room was quite spare.
Review 15:Beautiful setting
Review 16:Beautiful spot with family like multinational personnel, who is welcoming you with a warm smile and passion for their gorgeous piccolo mondo.
Review 17:The hotel neds a refurb, feels dated.
Review 18:very good views
Review 19:The location is simply amazing, close to historical sites (walking distance) and the hotel overlooks blue pristine sea water The staff was courteous
Review 20:Some pieces of furniture need to be remoderned
Review 21:Excellent location, amazing view, mediterranean lunch by the pool. Friendly staff.
Review 22:The hotel and the area has an calm and friendly atmosphere. The cost a little bit north and south of Castro is more than beautiful. The view from the terrace where breakfast is served is unsurpassed.
Review 23:Dinner is not really value for money but ok... prefere walking to one of the restaurants in Castro old town. Tried to give us a smaller room than the one we booked and payed... but no problem once we mentionned it, they corrected immediatly.
Review 24:Absolutely great location. View is increadible. The pool is large and nice. You can reach the old Castro town by foot. Staff is friendly. Absolutly great.
Review 25:"suite" needs refurbishing: stained floor tiling, gimmicky door, shaky plumbing/bathroom, unattractive terrace Children had issues finding things to do
Review 26:massive rooms in the suite amazing ocean view good food
Review 27:This Hotel is absolutely not a 4 stars.Room was a 1m2, with just acloset to hang cloths, no drawers or chest of drawers, no hair dryer, nokleenex box, no mirror just the small one in bath room, shower systemwas half broken, shower curtain same & like back in the 60st, samefor the tv (even if you don't go there to watch tv) very old one,not very clean, floors & toilette. Swimming pool & area very oldand depressing surrounding. Breakfast should be "improved"& staff be more courteous. Also plates with food coming out of thekitchen didn't look clean, there were sticky same for servingspoon... First morning we were 2 or 3 tables still sitting having brkst& I decided to go to the buffet to have a fruit, I discovered staffhad already removed every thing from buffet without even asking us if westill wanted something else and this even before the time limit forbrkst....I Moved 3rd day to the room next mine, and when I went to bed Ifound out that the window had just a miserable drape as a curtain as theroller curtain was half broken and early morning I had the strong sunshining over my face in bed...Later I learned from a friend who is fromLecce that she had the same bad experience with them 2 years ago &was sorry that I didn't tell I had booked at Piccolo Mondo becauseshe would have told me to cancel and go somewhere else... Its an endlesslist of unpleasant things. The photos you are showing are very welltaken but don't correspond to the reality of now a days. It's amust that you indicate that it's not a place for any person withreduced mobility. There are hundreds of stiff stairs to go up and downwithout any handle along the walls (when there is a wall as in someplaces there is just mother nature ...) and difficult to walk around.
Review 28:The son of the owner was very kind & tried to make up for all mycomplains, reason why I left one night before and he reimbursed thatnight. One of the cleaning women tried to help improve thesituation...unfortunately it wasn't enough. If I choose a 4starshotel I expect a 4stars service. If I decide for a no star hotel I knowwhat to expect : the minimum. It's a petty because the viewoverlooking the sea is magnificent and apparently back many years ago itwas a nice hotel.
Review 29:For the price we paid the quality was sensational. The room was beautiful and its situation, overlooking the sea, perfect. The staff were very friendly and extremely helpful, especially Maria who was an angel and helped tremendously with our onward plans, even telephoning places we were staying later in our trip to make arrangements so we didn't have to try to do this in our limited italian and even though the Piccolo Mondo derived no benefit at all from her doing so. The views across the Adriatic to Albania from the terraced dining area were wonderful and the breakfasts were a joy. The wines we tried were excellent and incredibly fairly priced for such a nice hotel - an extremely refreshing (literally) change!
Review 30:- Rooms are run down. Need fixing. - Pool short of towels and this was not a busy period. - many stairs but no lift.
Review 31:- Location. - hotel layout has potential charm.
Review 32:We visited effectively out of season so no evening meals at hotel.Good choice of local restaurants in locality (need car) but many closed - out of season - just. Rooms would benefit greatly from tea / coffee making facilities in room. Electrical outlets need special slim pin adaptor - standard UK / 'euro adapter' pins too big. Was able to borrow adaptor from Mario (Hotel Manager) The elderly or infirm might find the number of steps to reception and the dining room a challenge but a small price to pay for the excellent setting. Also acted as keep fit regime ! Forewarned is forearmed. Toilets at reception would benefit from an extractor fan!
Review 33:Mario / Gianluca and the rest of the excellent staff looked after usextremely well indeed. They definitely 'went the extra mile' forus. We also met the owners son - Raphael - and his mother who weregeniality and kindness itself. We will definitely go back.Overall setting of hotel and rooms (effectively bungalows perched on a cliff with excellent sea views) are excellent Serenity Delightful quiet private chapel Access to secluded private beach at the base of the cliffs. Boule and tennis court Good breakfast continental buffet with excellent fruit and yoghurt to die for. Dining room has fantastic panoramic views of the coastline and sea. Hotel drinks not overpriced Very good, refreshing but warm seawater pool. Linen changed daily Shutters and fly screens on windows made for excellent night's rest. Air conditioning available (but not needed at this time of year - early May) Good, secure car parking. Overall a first class romantic and restful holiday which we will repeat.
Review 34:Although a great location in Castro, didn't realized that it was so far away from Brindisi Airport and/or Lecce. Many of us are used to complimentary shuttles...or at least to be mentioned that one way shuttle from the Airport would be around 100 Euros.. or... at least: "located approx. 1hr 30 mins away from Brindisi Airport. Shuttle transportation available for a fee. Please inquire in advance for the Shuttle fee option"...
Review 35:Amazing resort perched on a cliff, with access to the sea... or just a great swimming pool, with tennis court, great views, quiet place and very friendly staff: Mr. Mario, Gianlucca and Maria. I would call it Resort "Piccollo Paradiso"... "Little Heaven". Great option as much as for young / mature couples as for families!
Review 36:The fact the room furniture was different from the photo on booking.com and of low quality. Fixtures were really bad.
Review 37:The sea view was amazing
Review 38:Rooms are a bit old fashioned but location makes up for it
Review 39:Fabulous location, excellent laundry service, good breakfast buffet, spectacular views
Review 40:The site is really unique : the sea is everywhere around . The staff is really kind and helpfull. The room was large and comfortable.
Review 41:Long way to take the luggage
Review 42:The view. The staff did all the could to help.
