Hotel Al Forte descritpion

Surrounded by the Dolomites, Hotel Al Forte is partly an ex-fortress from the times of the First World War. It offers a 180-m² wellness centre, and is ideal for exploring the Dolomites, whatever the season.
Rooms are decorated in traditional Alpine style and feature light-wood furnishings and either carpeted or parquet floors. Facilities here include an LCD satellite TV and most overlook the Dolomites. Free Wi-Fi is available in the main building.
Chalets in a separate building set 1.2 miles away are also available.
The wellness centre comes with a sauna, hot tub and Turkish bath. It also includes a Tepidarium, Kneipp hydrotherapy, massage room and gym. The hotel offers ski storage and a ski pass sales point.
The à la carte restaurant serves local specialities and classic Italian cuisine. The wine cellar features over 200 labels and all the delicious desserts are homemade. The half-board option features a wide selection of 5 menus. Breakfast is buffet style.
Located 1.9 miles from Arabba, Al Forte is great for hiking and cycling excursions during summer. In winter, it is in the heart of the Dolomiti Superski area. The 2 private ski buses take you to the ski slopes in just 3 minutes.

Reviews for Hotel Al Forte

Review 1:The staff were extremely helpful and friendly, especially the waiter, Neno. Made us both feel very at home. The rooms were spacious, and the wellness centre was a welcome treat at the end of each day on the slopes.

Review 2:Everything was ok, food was delicious, staff are really friendly, the room was nice and very clean. They have a room where we can store our bicycles.

Review 3:Wifi unstable

Review 4:The location of the hotel is not so good if you depend on public transport and/or you seek the bustle of urban life. The nearby touristic villages of Canazei, Corvara and Cortina d'Ampezzo are all a mountain pass away, and the closest village of Arabba is relatively small and quiet (at least during my visit in August 2013). I can only talk about the room I occupied ... Some room facilities need maintenance such as a shower cubicle that did not close very well with obvious consequences (made worse by the lack of bathroom mat ...attention to older tenants); a faulty sink drain stopper; a tap whose cap kept falling off. As I point out it in the 'likes' section the staff always responded promptly to my requests but the first day I lacked towels, on another day I lacked toilet paper, and for two days (until I overcame my weariness having to ask for items day after day) I lacked shower gel though not soap bars (which I don't normally use). Personally I would have appreciated a desk-lamp - it is very difficult to use a computer without the inconvenience of switching on the light on sleeping others. This is a suggestion rather than a dislike. Another suggestion would be to provide guests with Wi-Fi service in the bar and restaurant (hence the breakfast area) as well.

Review 5:The hotel is located in the heart of the Dolomites on a main road hence ideal for those who are touring the region by car, bike or other means of transport. Surely, the strongest feature of this hotel is the expertly converted fort. Now serving as a bar and restaurant it can be enjoyed even if you do not stay at the hotel. The food it good though not the cheapest you can opt for. The staff are very nice and quickly respond to guest's requirements when voiced. The rooms are spacious and adequately clean. Facilities include such detail as a big flat-screen television ... shower caps (though the later appears to be coming a standard for 3* hotels lately). This is one of the few hotels which actually provides free Wi-Fi in the hotel room.

Review 6:Everything was exellent.

Review 7:A room with a mountain view and a balcony was a spacious and clean. We booked a half board and that was our best decision in our trip. In dinner you can choose 3 different cources and they are serving exellent sallad plus all that! Breakfast buffet was great too. Can't think what it would be lacking. We were making day hikes in dolomites and this was perfect base camp for us. Saunas and relaxing showers were comfort for tired feet! The owner couple were helpful and gave us a good advises were to drive and what hikes are best options and what a weather would be like.

Review 8:The heating was too warm for us but as the window and door open onto a balcony and can turn off radiators not a problem. Water saving shower head and underpowered hair dryer.

Review 9:The staff!!! They gave excellent service including efficient transport to and from ski lifts. The meals were good especially for skiing. The atmosphere including the history of the fort. Expansive view from our balony. Comfortable beds, soft towels. Would choose to stay there again!
