Reviews for Hotel Villa Carlotta

Review 1:Old fashion hotel - neglected and unpleasant. It's better to pay a little bit more and stay in Stresa. It's not 4 star Hotel - or maybe was in XIX century.

Review 2:Badly needs updating - restaurant closed as out of season & nothing in the town open. Stressa is 3 miles away where we travelled for dinner no problem for us with a car. Breakfast adequate but boring for a 4 star hotel.

Review 3:Near to Stressa Warm room as we travelled in November.

Review 4:The hotel really needs some renovation. Especially the carpets in our room has seen better days. Breakfast was ok but I had to sit on a dirty table.

Review 5:The location was awesome - close to Arona, Stresa and other little towns around Lago Maggiore. The check in was awesome and instead of receiving a bedroom for four as we booked we received two bedroom with an adjoining door. It saved us some time in the morning

Review 6:It was very old and needs updating. The breakfast was very simple. Only fruit offered was watermelon and not every day.

Review 7:The pool was nice. Brioche rolls for breakfast were delicious. Staff friendly and helpful. Free wifi in reception.

Review 8:Slightly outdated decor

Review 9:Location Swimming pool & view Easy to get to Stresa Breakfast included in price Parking Friendly staff, speak English Breakfast selection

Review 10:WIFI-access charged 10~€/day. This hotel might have been a 4-star hotel in former times, but it's totally out of age. Carpets, paintings, ceramics, etc. Sound insulation of rooms !

Review 11:Location, kindness of personnel, bar, food, neighborhood

Review 12:Hotel is quite dated & in need of a major renovation! Everything just looks old & tired. The staff generally was very business like (not warm & welcoming) with the exception of an older lady who greeted us when we first arrived & another who had a good knowledge of the surrounding areas & lakes.

Review 13:Our family (3 young childten) spent 6 nights at the villa. Convenient location to Stresa where we would drive there for dinner. The village has some beautiful old villas (& free booklet about them from Tourist Info office) along the main street. Hotel has a lovely garden & pool with a great view. Our kids spent most afternoons there! Our rooms too face the lake. Considering what we didn't like about the hotel, it was worth the stay!

Review 14:The breakfast was very limitied and everyday the same. The jacuzzi in the bedrooms did not work. When asking in the reception to fix the problem, they said that they will fix it ... meaning that they will not do it in the short-term!

Review 15:The swimming pool. The area and the views from the hotel room.

Review 16:Breakfast was very plain, in this class of hotel, there should have been a wider choice of bakeries, better quality orange juice.and regular coffee (although decent coffee was available from the machine at no extra cost), and more fruits

Review 17:Good location in Belgirate, close to Stresa (6km), but a lot cheaper. Friendly and helpful staff Spacious rooms and common areas

Review 18:Noisy party late at night.

Review 19:Location

Review 20:Lovely and helpful staff in the dining room.

Review 21:Terrible room, bath, bed, basically everything. Don't bother to come here.

Review 22:Location and view. The staff were nice.

Review 23:shabby curtains, a mattress that felt like a solid block, awful 'art'

Review 24:Very nice dinner, the sound of little waves on the shore, friendly staff

Review 25:No hot water for a shower and a paltry explanation as to why with no apology; breakfast was atrocious and set out the night before (we watched them when we had dinner!). We were about the only people in the hotel - it was like a ghost town and one of the few hotels open in this area at this time of year. Won't be going back.

Review 26:Very little but it was a place to stay and the view was pretty awesome!

Review 27:Bathroom area was sub-standard, shower curtain was awful, wifi was very intermittent

Review 28:Close proximity to the lake, elevation and view from the swimming pool, relaxed atmosphere, proximity to Stresa, breakfast was excellent, shabby chic, beautiful grounds with lots of different areas to relax in, an awesome relaxing break

Review 29:Rooms and bathrooms need make over. Were very comfortable and clean and great views. Must have been 5 star luxury hotel in its prime days(60's ?), but need upgrading.

Review 30:Great Location, very close to Stresa.Lovely Lago Maggiore views all around . Fantastic pool, could have been larger.Professional staff, extremely helpful.

Review 31:Rooms very very clean, but need updating. Directions from the trainstation could be clearer, but the front desk was so nice to hop in theircar and pick us up.

Review 32:The staff were the nicest people we met on our trip. So helpful andattentive and even helped us rent a private boat. Great location righton the lake and close to Stresa. You must visit Isola Bella a few milesdown and eat at the German restaurant.

Review 33:Shower barely dripped out water. Had to rinse off with cup from sink. Carpeting in the room was heavily stained in entrance foyer. Mattress was very firm.

Review 34:Location on the lake was spectacular. The swimming pool was very nice. The grounds belonging to the Hotel were really nice. Staff was helpful and courteous. Windsurfers and parasurfers club on hotel beach, nice touch.

Review 35:Not a 4 star, hotel very rundown staff indifferent to the point of rudeness. Needs a complete makeover. Food overpriced and menu not changed often enough. Rooms are clean but dated decor and threadbare carpets. Not good value and would not go back.

Review 36:The view.

Review 37:We were a late booking - so our room may not be typical as it needs amakeover. However, it was very comfortable and clean. We would describeour room (371) as having charm, albeit faded charm. Overall, we reallyliked the hotel.

Review 38:First of all, the location was excellent being only a few miles south ofStresa which is a very nice small town with plenty of restaurants etc.Although the unique Isola Bella is a must, the gardens at Villa Tarantowere truly excellent. The hotel has a nice garden and an outdoor pool with excellent views over Lake Maggiore. The reception staff were very helpful and provided us with lots of information re. trips etc. The food and service in the hotel restaurant was excellent and it was a real treat to be served by professional staff who clearly took pride in their work - and smiled.

Review 39:Not enough in 300 words! Terribly basic rooms that no way deserves 4 Star. 2 star more like if that. Staying now in superb hotel with free internet for 70E including breakfast. Carlotta charges a massive 10E/hr or incredible 70E/day just for wifi!! Hugely expensive and pathetic breakfast. Rooms dirty, visibly hand sewn holes in bedding. Dirty wall paper, even sh*t still on wc brush! Basically this hotel is FAR overpriced ad they couldn't give a monkies! We mananged to cancel our second day booking. Definitely the worst 4 Star hotel ever and a rip off! Don't go there!!!

Review 40:Not much. Only nice bit is the reception area

Review 41:staff very unfriendly, room dirty, bathroom door didnt shut ,bath leaked water all over the floor, door hanging off wardrobe, balancy, all the plaster was pealing of the wall.No one told us that u had to climb up two lots of stairs and a steap hill to get to the pool, the pool man was misrable and was sweeping the patio whilst you were laying there,he was cleaning the pool while you was in it.The pool only had a small hut to get cans of drinks. We were celebrating our 30 years anniversary and they done nothing for us, we have stayed in lots of 4 star hotels and this is not 4 star it needs badly decorating and all the staff needs to go on a customer service course.

Review 42:The veiw fromthe pool was the only thing we liked, we would not recommend this hotel.

Review 43:Breakfast was limited and on Sunday the bread ( a major component was stale). It was Sunday of course Plenty of parking on the street but the hotel parking was often full.

Review 44:Good location, good aspect, friendly staff.

Review 45:Spacious hotel in Belgirate with lovely swimming pool in grounds lookingover the lake. Don't miss the walk to the old church which is beautiful.Short walk to the station for trips into Milan or other destinations.Good breakfast.

Review 49:Waiters at the breakfast buffet.
