Reviews for Hotel Minella & Leisure Centre

Review 1:Dirty shower. Staff were nice but when complained about the shower I didn't receive much reaction. Air conditioning was also faulty. Bar is a little outdated. This hotel is suited to an older clientele.

Review 2:Pool facilities

Review 3:Breakfast was a huge let down. No pastries, cheeses, yogurts. Had to ask for our tea and coffee twice. Everyone queuing for a four slice toaster and coffee machine turned off. Sliced pan was in its packaging not even in a basket just not 4 star standard.

Review 4:The grounds, the room and the leisure centre. Dinner was fabulous.

Review 5:The bathroom was adequately cleaned but under taps in bathroom not clean at all Breakfast was poor, bacon poorly cooked ,poor bread and fruit selection and breakfast room not particularly pleasant

Review 6:Location and pleasantness of staff. Nice view from room

Review 7:We stayed at this hotel for a family reunion. We have a 15month old and a 12week old,the staff accommodated us in every way to make our stay as relaxing as possible. The pool was spotless and fabulous. Food was excellent. Newly opened playground on site was a huge hit. Gorgeous hotel, lovely staff i will be recommending it to my family and my friends especially those with children. Our daughter was unwell at the end of our stay and fell asleep coming up to checkout time,it was no problem at all for us to delay until she woke at 2.30pm the staff were very understanding. Fabulous place, couldnt fault any aspect of it,we will be going back

Review 8:Restaurant is unbelievably old fashioned in terms of lighting and decor. Offers nothing for anyone under fifty years old and is not suitable for couples even though the rest of the hotel is very nice. They offer a set menu of four courses at forty euro. Main courses are quite pricey individually and staff were doing us a favour allowing us to order individual items as we didn't want four courses.

Review 9:Staff were lovely could not have been more helpful.rooms were great with fantastic views.

Review 10:Breakfast was a bit disorganised...had to ask for table to be cleared to use, which the waitress did by sweeping the crumbs onto the floor and didn't change the table cloth. They really should leave pots of tea/coffee on the individual tables rather than a waitress occasionally wondering by with a pot in her hand-we only managed a cup each as we couldn't catch her eye again!

Review 11:Nice hotel.big room with comfy bed.pleasant reception staff.

Review 12:The bathroom wasn't cleaned properly, the connection with WiFi wasn't great in our room. We upgraded our room to a superior room but it was completely overpriced.

Review 13:The rooms were lovely but a bit overpriced. Beautiful surroundings.

Review 14:i will wait until special offers a little pricey otherwise .....

Review 15:lovely hotel lovely shower bedroom breakfast balcony i was able to sit out in lovely sunshine will definitly be back...ps love resident dog.....

Review 16:The Hotel was very convenient for us as we were going to Coolmore Stud early the following day. We had a comfortable night's sleep and a lovely breakfast, prepared with local products. Very friendly staff.

Review 17:We asked for a no smoking room and it was, but the smell of stale tobacco stayed for the duration. I thought the food prices were a bit over the top. Room was fantastic, but I thought the bathroom could have been a bit cleaner, ie the tiles were mouldy in places.

Review 18:Location, room had two windows that opened and we didn't overheat, which is usually the case! Function room a lovely size. Food was gorgeous and portion size was right. Owners were on hand all the time. Staff pleasant.

Review 19:Staff were really friendly giving the kids a fruit juice and apple on arrival in the room. Rooms themselves were clean, comfortable and spacious. The rest of the Hotel had the aged charm of a traditional country residence. We only stayed one night after a long journey but wish we'd stayed longer as there were plenty of facilities for the kids. The meal we had was in the bar where we were made welcome and the food was far better than the average pub grub.

Review 20:Lovely spacious bedroom, with large king sized bed which was very comfortable. The room had a Jacuzi tub in the bathroom, and had a balcony with a beautiful scenic view of the mountains. The hotel was very quiet and comfortable, it made us want to stay an extra unplanned day, unfortunately it was all booked up. Would definitely return.

Review 21:Poo in the toilet. General uncleanliness. Receptionist didn't tellus anything upon checking in even though we were the only peoplechecking in. Had to go back down to find out about breakfast, check out, facilities.

Review 22:Omelette for breakfast was good.

Review 23:Breakfast was slightly disappointing, the table was very cluttered, marmalade in communal jar had gone off, no low fat spread option.

Review 24:Location overlooking the river was lovely. Room, bed & bathroom excellent. Food at wedding was lovely.

Review 25:I'd argue it's only got 4 star status because it has a pool and gym. Id class it as a 3 star or exceptional 2 star

Review 26:Very clean, comfortable and friendly.

Review 27:Food was very good qality but lacked in finesse and presentaiton. Serving staff were brilliant. Unusual to have itmes on the menu which were no longer available at 7.30.

Review 28:Staff very friendly and helpful but dining room and bar disorganised. Locaiton is excellent and leisure centre is excellent.

Review 29:The decking outside my room could of been cleaner and the lighting in the bathroom could of been brighter or changed.

Review 30:The food was excellent. havent had a better breakfast in a long time.

Review 31:There was nothing not to like.

Review 32:The view we had from our room was beautiful. The restaurant has never heard of portion control : every meal was a feast. The staff were ultra helpful, and the nearby town of Clonmel is a warm and friendly place, .:

Review 33:WIFI connection was intermittent and not particularly reliable. I communicated to the staff (72 hrs in advance) my intention to check-out over the weekend to do some sight-seeing in a different part of Ireland. They said that would be ok. Unfortunately, the day of my check-out, I was told that all changes to my stay must be made through Booking.com. So, they charged me for my room, even though I was not staying there. I asked them why they had not communicated this earlier, which they had no response. In addition, the staff strongly discouraged me from booking the hotel through Booking.com.

Review 34:Amenities were nice: food was very good and fitness center was well-equipped. Generally, the facility was clean.

Review 35:water was out for a number of hours on our arrival and we were unable to use the bathroom facilities and showers for this period, only informed when I rang down to reception and had rang a few hours earlier to highlight the problem.

Review 36:Lovely surroundings and lovely staff serving in the bar area for food and quality of the food was good

Review 37:Didn't get anything like the room advertised because of the bathroom. It was designed for a geriatric person, perhaps travelling with an assistant. No bathtub, shower pull curtain around the floor and chair for senior or disabled person beside shower. No one had cleaned under that chair for some time. .

Review 38:Food, decor, grounds

Review 39:The toilet is our room kept flushing all night and when we mentioned it at reception they just said "we must get that looked at" No apology

Review 40:Room had no tissues, or shower caps also unusual not to be greeted at breakfast, would have liked if self serviced was explained etc, you re totally left to work it out for yourself,

Review 41:Room and swimming pool. Very helpful reception staff, showed me books on the area.

Review 42:From the owner's welcome to tea and beautiful fruit cake in my room, to the River view from my room. The bed and room were heaven. Breakfast buffet delicious, plentiful, and varied. The staff are exceptional. The leisure center is refreshing and always clean.

Review 43:We availed of the offer to 'upgrade'. The room appeared to be for single occupancy as there was a bedspread and cushion on one bed and one towelling robe in the wardrobe. The shower gave one shower and despite there being hot water in the bath and sink the shower ran cold. Remote for the television only worked when one inch from the television. On mentioning about the shower I was advised that 'other people had said the same'. A disappointing visit and one I won't repeat.

Review 44:The view

Review 45:Room was very warm with inadequate air conditioning - spoilt a good nights sleep

Review 46:Service and facilities excellent. Food was OK - nothing to write home about. Slightly out of town but great bar and staff with a lovely setting - not busy so overall very good

Review 47:I didn't get to stay longer !

Review 48:It has the feel of a family run hotel but with no intrusiveness. The tea/coffee room service when you arrive with a piece of cake sets the tone. A lovely gesture . The pool facilities are commensurate with big chain standards only cosier. The hotel staff set the standard.

Review 49:great staff from on entering the hotel to when i left early the next morning. room was very clean and spacious really comfy bed. Parking was great plenty of room, even on busy evenings.

Review 50:Nothing

Review 51:Hotel building itself, exudes charm and character and has a special atmosphere, with beautiful views of river and countryside. Staff were excellent, food superb and plentiful. Great facilities, would highly recommend.

Review 52:Room service food not the same quality as the bar Showers hot water difficult to use

Review 53:Bar with food staff at reception excellent at any time Lounges where you could relax grounds to walk in Near the town

Review 54:Breakfast was never hot, only if you asked for it to be warmed up. Restaurant although good has a very limited menu and will bore the pants off you after 3 nights.

Review 55:Rooms were good especially jacuzzi and hot tub rooms. Staff were excellent and very helpfull.

Review 56:staff didnt check guests arriving for breakfast & guests were left waiting for tables, empty tables hadnt been cleared.

Review 57:Excellent bar food late breakfast & late checkout

Review 58:Very dated and worn furnishings. Room and food costs totally out of line with what was delivered. Taps in the bathroom barely reached the sink & poorly lit.

Review 59:Staff we're very pleasant

Review 60:The service from check in to check out was both friendly and personal. The hotel's grounds are amazing and so picturesque. The old world charm of the hotel coupled with friendly service made for a memorable and enjoyable stay.

Review 61:Everything. We had booked online a double room. On arrival the manager upgraded us to a suite which overlooked the river, had a large balcony, and great room facilities. Could have lived there!

Review 62:awkward bar service..basement breakfast room a complete shambles..inexperienced staff most of the time. whats with the egg frying in lukewarm fat?????

Review 63:very friendly...quirky dining.. good food.

Review 64:There was nothing I didn't like.

Review 65:I stayed as I was at a wedding it was just fantastic, staff very helpful, food great, location really great and room was really lovely. Definitely will go back again.

Review 66:Error with bill on check out, it was resolved when we queried it. Slow service for bar food, had to ask for condiments rather than them being brought along with food.

Review 67:Leisure centre is nice, rooms are of a fair standard, staff pleasant.

Review 68:Nice place around lots to see

Review 69:Place was clean but will over price no clean towels no left out by door no one cleaned our room even tho they changed use 440 pounds when I told lady who we paid all she could say was sorry 2 wedding on big deal but still took full price of use very poor. They should of took money of bill

Review 70:bathroom door jamming, should have reported it.

Review 71:everything, the bar staff were very courteous and friendly. everyone on reception were very helpfull. some entertainment at night might be a good idea as the hotel is outside the town. lovely outdoor facillities.

Review 72:That we couldn't stay longer.

Review 73:This is what you'd call a 'proper' hotel ..... It gives off a certain ambience .... A ship well run, no detail to small. I felt extremely cosy here. We had been travelling around a lot and really longed for a lovely meal and that's exactly what we got and the large dessert trolley rolled out for our perusal was a delight. Great to see a massive gluten free choice for breakfast and a chef that cooks your eggs in front of you. The ground of the hotel are fab to !

Review 74:I think the food and drink is a bit on the expensive side.

Review 75:Friendly Staff

Review 86:The down home welcoming feel ... Being greeted by the dog .... The beautiful grounds .... Traditional decor

Review 88:Totally perfect execution of meals. Bar food as well as breakfast superior to all the 10 other hotels we stayed in this trip.

Review 89:helpful friendly staff.

Review 91:Location, staff, food & general comfort

Review 92:Bar food was poor and restaurant understaffed.cold swimming pool.
