Reviews for Hotel Senator-Ház Eger

Review 1:Nothing really though the bedroom was not large

Review 2:The central location; the helpfulness and friendliness of the owner; the general ambience of the hotel and the feeling one was in a home; the little sitting/dining room outside the bedroom; the breakfast though not sumptuous was fresh and more than adequate

Review 3:There are no such hotels in all my trips.

Review 4:It´s not my first time there. I called them I was going to arrived late and kept for me a delicious dinner. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The decoration is very nice. The building and location are great, and the fact that they have a private parking some 20 mt in the center helps a lot when you arrive by car.

Review 5:The exchange rate applied to the quoted Euros Price (when converting to the Hungarian currency) was inflated in favour of the hotel (at checkout). Watch for this if you stay here.

Review 6:Everything - except for the exchange rate calculation

Review 7:All all our comments can be summarized in one word: impressive. We had a nice stay in Eger, and a hotel was playing its role: The inner furnishment was the first thing we would mention about. Old, traditional decorations: books, vases, mirrors. Small, but well equiped room. In the hallway we were viewing the furnish like in a museum. The location is more than perfect: directly on the main square, close to turkish bads. Tasty food in its restaurant, even for experienced guest. Many thanks to the owner, who is really helpful and friendly for his guests. If we come back next time, we will choose this hotel again.

Review 8:Breakfast is delicious, staff is very helpfull and the restaurant they have is the best in Eger. The hotel is in the old center of Eger so you can walk anywhere.

Review 9:We stayed in new part of the hotel in one of the side streets. It was great, we still had an atmospheric, spacious room in old building with sunny courtyard, tucked only 20 meters from the main street with restaurants, but much quieter. The bed was huge and everything was top notch, even with small details like jars with sweets in the hall. Its apparent that owner have years of experience and very good approach to customers

Review 10:The hotel is beautiful and full of character, the staff could not have been more friendly and helpful, the room was delightful and super comfortable, and the breakfast, taken outside on tables in the little square- delicious!

Review 11:- B/F is not very impressive, comparing to Senator-Haz's nice meal.

Review 12:- Lovely antique hotel is located in very center of Eger. (Whaterver Eger is very tiny town, this can be super attractive.) - Please do not miss wonderful meal (Lunch or Dinner) in this reastaurant. - Hotel House is separeted from restaurant and it is very tranquil and comfortable everything. - really Spacious Room and Bathroom than my expectation. - The house has kind of Patio. We had nice time with Eger Wine there.

Review 13:we had an overnight stay in Eger, we were made very welcome by the staff, our room was made available earlier than it should have been, Courteous helpful staff , wonderful restaurant food for Dinner

Review 14:Parking with a car can be interesting. They have a special vacant lot that you need to get to once you arrive. All part of the adventure.

Review 15:Friendly, bilingual and efficient. Great food. Great menus.

Review 16:Nothing

Review 17:Great central location; friendly and helpful staff; lovely food & wine; most comfortable bed and well-equipped bathroom. Eger is a beautiful town, especially now the renovations are finished... almost!

Review 18:The reception should have informed us about the cost of their parking place. We didn't know until it's checked.

Review 19:Classic place, nice decoration, though the building is a bit old, but clean and comfort. Location just right at hear of the town

Review 20:I have stayed at this hotel for many years. It has been 10 years since I was last here and it still had the same friendly atmosphere. Eger has changed so much so it was nice to see that the hotel hasn't been spoilt

Review 21:nothing at all.

Review 22:the location is right in the center near the Basilica and the castle. the staff are so friendly, the beds are very comfy and the room is spacious and fun. Free strong WiFi signal

Review 23:There were no real surprises here. It is an old hotel but that adds to its charm. The quality of food and staff more than compensate for any shortcomings.

Review 24:The staff at this hotel are extremely helpful. Food at the restaurant was excellent!

Review 25:The bed was firm - just the type I like. The location was unbeatable - it's in-house restaurant was good and the bar just across the hotel was marvellous too. Proprietors of the hotel were warm and marvellous.

Review 26:We loved everything about Senator Haz Eger. We spent 2 nights here andwhat a lovely place to unwind at the end of a 2 week Europeantrip.Charming, polite, helpful staff with varying levels of English spoken-they had great suggestions for local activities. The hotel was full ofmemorabilia and antiques, such fun to browse the public rooms. Roomsimple but clean and adequate. Great location at the base of the castleon the main square. Adequate breakfasts and delicious dinners. Ratesextremely reasonable, for both our room and the dinners we enjoyedthere. Restaurant is one of few open on a Sunday evening this time ofyear, latter half of October. Memorable visit, both to Senator Haz andthe town of Eger.

Review 27:It was difficult to find the hotel. The furnishings could use some updating.

Review 28:The staff was very helpful. When we couldn't find our way to the hotel parking lot via the GPS, one person volunteered to come with us in the car so we wouldn't get lost driving around the old town wall. When we left, another person carried our bags down the street to the parking lot. Also, the location was great, just at the edge of the old town square

Review 29:The square was under reconstruction which made access to the hotel and walking around difficult. When it is complete, it will be beautiful.

Review 30:Staff was excellent and very helpful. Breakfast was super and the location on the square couldn't be better. The hotel is an older style with lots of interesting antiques.

Review 31:Our bags that we left in the reception area before check in were mistakenly taken by a taxi driver taking other guests back to Budapest. Although they were returned later in the day the man at the front desk made no real apologies to us. Also, if you came later to breakfast there was not much left and they didn't really seem to replace the items as they were finished.

Review 32:The location and the hotel itself is lovely. Dinner at the restaurant was great.

Review 33:There was terrible noise at 6am, setting the tables for breakfast There was even more noise as the main city square is under reconstruction with stone-cutting devices (7am!)

Review 34:Great location in city center Very helpful and friendly crew Good restaurant Good wines

Review 35:Lack of central air as the individual air units tend to generate "white noise" ,although we understand the charm of the building is its original state.

Review 36:The excellent restaurant

Review 37:Breakfast fantastic

Review 38:Wish they had a lift.

Review 39:Fantastic attitude of staff, lovely restaurant, perfect location right on the square.

Review 40:Excellent location, very close to the castle. The staff is very kind and friendly.

Review 41:Right in the centre of town. Great food and the staff couldn't have been better.

Review 51:Wonderful location, amazingly kind staff, however the owner was on vacation. Fantastic food, good selection of vine naturally. Must come back!!!

Review 52:Air conditioner is weak, so in the hottest day is not comfortable.

Review 53:Location ,breakfast

Review 55:all ok. But noisy at night.

Review 56:Close to everything.

Review 57:Older property, with unique and characteristic facilities. Terrific location, wonderful staff, superb restaurant.

Review 58:Difficult to find. Car park not at the hotel so no good putting the hotel address into the GPS.

Review 59:The restaurant was good. Food and wine excellent.

Review 60:nothing

Review 61:The hotel was beautiful. The owner and staff were kind. We had a nice experience there.

Review 62:Intimate and cozy

Review 63:noisy streets next to the hotel, thin walls

Review 64:The bed was too soft.

Review 65:The staff was extremely helpful and charming. I will definitely stay there again in the future!

Review 70:Good location, lovely building and friendly staff

Review 71:Welcoming staff in old world charm. The hotel is right on the square. The restaurant is great with live music and terrific atmosphere.

Review 72:Central location

Review 73:expensive laundry

Review 74:location staff tasty brekkie good sized room

Review 75:The staff is really helpful The restaurant is extremely good The hotel has a lot of charm

Review 76:The renovations around town - not the hotel's fault!!

Review 77:Perfect location, helpful and friendly staff. The food is excellent, with a great choice of wines. Lovely to sit outside and watch the world go by.

Review 78:It is as good as everyone says it is. The people are nice (for instance, our baby broke a plate, we offered to pay for it, they refused), the restaurant is really good, the WiFi is perfect, it's very clean, the rooms are very large. We stayed at the Patria guesthouse, which is 100 meters from the actual hotel, where we also had our own fully equipped kitchen and large yard. It's perfect for larger groups, especially in the warmer days. The parking facility is very useful. Don't hesitate.

Review 79:In february 2014 main square has been dug up, area is a mess and teh hotel is a bit difficult to get to.

Review 80:Great position on main square. very friendly and helpful staff.

Review 81:No complaints whatever. We have stayed there twic and hope to do so again.

Review 82:A marvellous old inn, full of character with excellent food and wine. My wife is in a wheelchair and the staff couldn't have been more helpful. Eger is an interesting, attractive town with a considerable history.

Review 83:The location is great, the place is extremely cozy, the staff isprofessional and helpful, and last but not least, the restaurant isfantastic! I highly recommend this lovely hotel.

Review 84:Finding parking lot. Needs better sign on lot and info on Booking.com.

Review 85:Very convenient to city center and tourist sights. Helpful and friendlyowners and staff. Lobby loaded with personal collectibles.

Review 86:The bath was slippery during a shower. On hot nights the duvet was too much, so a sheet would be helpful.

Review 87:The location is great as it is right on the square and we could park our car. Most of the staff were very friendly and helpful.

Review 88:The charme of a small, cosy, old house, even if this means that not every detail could be perfect. The staff tried their best, and they were very helpful. The location is excellent in the heart of the city.

Review 89:Barely any English spoken.

Review 90:Staff extremely kind, helpful and competent. Excellent location, best in town. Good food and wonderful wines for very low prices.

Review 91:The first night my air conditioner stopped working in the middle of the night, and it was very hot (25-30 degrees) in the room. The second night it stopped again, and this time I asked the staff to help; turns out the filter or drain hadn't been emptied, so it was stopping. It was easily fixed, but maybe they need to check on these more often? Otherwise a great stay, I totally recommend the hotel!

Review 92:Friendly staff, great old town location, renovated rooms, good hotel restaurant, air conditioning in hot summer months.

Review 93:We loved the atmosphere of Hotel Senatorhaz. Right on a square, outside dining, lovely staff. A must stay destination, easy walking distance to all attractions.

Review 94:A really friendly well run hotel with good design, food, perfectly situated to enjoy everything in Eger. Do book for dinner or you will not get a table it is so much in demand.

Review 95:Stairs, but they took up the luggage. Wait staff cold but efficient

Review 96:We loved the smoked trout. The place is old fashioned, charming and had an air conditioner that worked.

Review 97:Great location right on the main square. Nice size rooms. Quaint little hotel with lots of antiques and charm. Rooms were a little dated, but that's part of the appeal. Very clean, bathroom and everything was good. Great restaurant for dinner. Delicious and great value. Bitburger beer on tap. Probably best meal we had on our trip. Staff helpful and spoke English.

Review 98:We loved its location in the centre of the old town with the castle nearby, clean spacious room, very friendly staff. Excellent restaurant - tasty food, delicious desserts, good wines - and very reasonably priced.

Review 99:Delightful small hotel in convenient location in Eger, Hungary. Delicious buffet breatfast and dinners. Can dine inside or outside under umbrellas. Excellent service.

Review 100:Some of the waiting staff were a bit surly, but that didn't spoil things.

Review 101:Loved its location in the little square with the castle as a backdrop. Tables outside, violinist playing nearby, food excellent and very reasonable for our British pockets! We stayed in the annex and were grateful not to have to listen to the music all evening. A delightful hotel, friendly proprietor and a good menu. Would stay again if I was in the area.

Review 102:hard to find --due to town set up

Review 103:Excellent service Patio units are extra special excellent location -in old town center --castle is steps away excellent restaurant staff goes out of the way to help for tourist--best location and hotel in town!!!

Review 104:Nothing - as long as not expecting this hotel to be in the Four Seasons league, but then, price-wise it isn't either...

Review 105:Lovely tiny hotel in a 250-year old house, run like a family. Decor is a bit bric-a-brac but pleasant and very clean. In-room air conditioning a nice surprise on dog days. Best location in this small town. Great Hungarian food, well priced.

Review 106:Room was on the second floor up a winding staircase and while it was nicely set out and clean it was rather warm being an attic type room and we did find it rather cramped.

Review 107:This was a very nice hotel centrally situated and the staff were very helpful in providing us with garage parking for our two motorbikes! This hotel has lots of character

Review 108:The bed was the most uncomfortable we have ever felt. The mattress was 1" thick on top of box springs that sat on the floor. The bedroom was extremely small for a double accommodation. The owner asked us to pay in cash even though we had given our credit card.

Review 109:The location was fantastic and the breakfast was delicious.

Review 110:Please note that this hotel is centrally located and rooms overlook verybusy streets. We were there over a weekend when there was much partyingout on the streets and it was noisy far into the night/dawn. Our weatherwas unseasonably hot therefore we needed to have our windows open. Thisis certainly not the fault of the hotel, but something to consider ifone is easily disturbed by night time noise.

Review 111:Staff were well prepared and gave a warm welcome. Unlike other Europeanhotels, this hotel took the credit card number but did not process ituntil our arrival. The food was good, the staff were accomodating andthe age and character of the hotel were delights. It is so well locatedfor anyone whose primary visit is to see the castle and the Egerdowntown. It couldn't be better.

Review 112:Ongoing renovation projects in the vicinity

Review 113:Beautiful facility adjacent to the hotel

Review 114:Nothing.

Review 115:Everything was great.

Review 116:Thomas and the staff just excellent. The restaurant-food just fabulous.
