Reviews for O'Briens Cashel Lodge

Review 1:Excellent location to easily walk to town while staying in a quiet, peaceful setting. Hosts were very friendly and saw to our every need. Use of kitchen facilities was a nice bonus.

Review 2:There was nothing to dislike about this B and B.

Review 3:The hosts were friendly and helpful. Our room was large, comfortable and clean with a view of the Abbey ruins. The location was excellent, a short walk to the Rock of Cashel and the town.

Review 4:Only half a view due to the low position of windows from our room...otherwise it would have been spectacular.

Review 5:Room was huge and comfy. Continental breakfast was generous and tasty.

Review 6:Tv was available in a common area but not available in the rooms. This may be a problem if kids visit

Review 7:The rooms were very clean, very helpfully and friendly staff

Review 8:We had requested an extension on departure time when we booked the room and we were not told yes or no. On arrival we again requested a two hour extension on departure time and were again not given a straight answer. Finally the morning of our departure we were told flat out a short time before the departure time that no extension was possible. This is not a good way to do business

Review 9:nothing

Review 10:Great location - centrally located in Ireland within a mornings drive of East , South and West coasts. Good facilities, Very friendly hosts, comfortable beds, good value for money

Review 11:No fresh fruit for breakfast

Review 12:The rooms were in a converted barn. So cute with beams, very nicely decorated. Very cozy. Enjoyed our stay. Tom and Brie were very nice and helpful. View of Abbey and Rock-amazing

Review 13:Can't think of anything.

Review 14:Awesome location, your not more than 1/2 mile away with a spectacular view of the Castle. Town is a slight walk but very doable but far enough that it is quiet at night. Definitely recommend.

Review 15:The town of Cashel is limited in food options in the evening. Make sure to ask about where to go prior to setting out!

Review 16:The hosts were charming and the accommodations were very spacious. We even had a sitting area just outside our room. A short walk away are the Rock of Cashel, of course, but even closer were the ruins of Hore Abbey. Great spot!

Review 17:We initially thought the booking did not include breakfast and were pleasantly surprised when we found out that was not the case. Continental breakfast had a good selection of cheese, ham etc. The tea making facility was also most welcome. Our hosts were both very friendly and informative.

Review 18:Stairs but then I didn't check on mobility access.

Review 19:Brid and Tom were delightful. They allowed us to check in early, helped us with luggage and were friendly and informative during our visit.

Review 20:Had believed room was downstairs. Made it a bit difficult. Inclusive breakfast was all cold - cerials fruit and cold meat and cheeses. Not ideal for travellers.

Review 21:Exceptionally clean and tidy room. Excellent free toiletries and amazing shoes.

Review 22:Not all beds had a table lamp (minor gripe in am otherwise pleasant room)

Review 23:Easy pleasant walk to the rock of Cashel. High end continental breakfast including delicious muesli and local cheeses. A coupon for entry to the Rock was included.

Review 24:We loved everything about this place! The location is perfect! The building and grounds are beautiful! The staff is friendly! The breakfast is amazing!

Review 25:The owners were compassionate, helpful, pleasant and genuinely concerned about your comfort while there. Breakfast was served in a dining room with white table cloths. The variety of food was fresh and tasty. It was very relaxing to walk around their well maintained grounds which had very interesting plants, flowers and shrubs. The price was very reasonable and we were very happy to pay it for the benefits we got in return.

Review 26:Bed was a little uncomfortable but ok.

Review 27:View from the lodge of both the Rock of Cashel and the ruins of the abbey across the pasture. Owners were very friendly and helpful. Walking distance to town and Rock.

Review 28:No television in room no tea making in room could not connect to wifi even though the access code was given although there was telly and kitchen in a communal room but didn't help when one retires to your room !!!

Review 29:Great location very very friendly host were tom and wife I would go back again if I was in the area

Review 30:Not everyone found the beds comfortable.

Review 31:Great location close to the Rock of Cashel and the Abbey. The hosts were very helpful and gave us great information and directions for the Mitchelstown Caves.

Review 32:This was very hard to find. More than one stop in town provided no help in locating this B&B. Our hosts, although very efficient, we're not very outgoing or talkative.

Review 33:The country side and visiting with other travelers met at breakfast.

Review 34:Cashel itself, beyond the rock, isn't all that appealing so I'd say that this is fantastic for a one night stay as the Rock of Cashel and the abbey are worth the trip.

Review 35:Friendly couple who runs this, lovely deluxe continental breakfast, short walk to the Rock of Cashel and right across from the Hore Abbey ruins. The rooms do have a view but that's somewhat of a misnomer. If you're on the top floor, they are small high windows so you'll need to sit on the floor to enjoy what is indeed a great view of the abbey.

Review 36:One of the rooms didn't get wifi but it was available in the common room.

Review 37:Lovely rooms and setting. Friendly host/owner....very nice breakfast. Quiet spot right near Rock of Cashel and the Abbey. Everyone in our group said they would love t stay there again.

Review 38:The bed was a twin and the pillows were like sleeping in a slab of granite. Room location was eh!

Review 39:The location could not be better. Some views are exceptional. The hosts are wonderful.

Review 40:1) As it use to be a working farm house, it’s surrounding is astonishingly beautiful as it should be. The surrounding is exactly what we image the farm country in Ireland should be 2) The rooms are extremely clean 3) What we like about this set up is that the people ( our host ) who operate this B&B live in a separate house and that there is a spacious breakfast/sitting room which is open to the guest at all times on the ground floor of the farm house that is also separate from owners’ house.

Review 41:Everything was great!

Review 42:Located at the foot of the Rock of Cashel and across from an abbey ruins with access through the cow pasture. Very nice room, super clean, the O'Brien family makes the stay very comfortable, and the breakfast was great! Away from town but only a 5-minute walk. Hope to return some day. Thank you to the O'Briens for making our visit to Cashel a wonderful memory.

Review 43:Nothing

Review 44:Great location - with the view on Cashel Castle and the Abbey, in walking distance to the centre of Cashel. The room was big and very clean with the good shower. The breakfast was perfect with great bread and big choice of cold meats and cheese.

Review 45:the location was great--close to town but it feels like it is in the country. The view of Cashel Rock is awesome. Breakfast is very good and we could use the kitchen to make a cup of tea or coffee.

Review 46:Located in a historic building just below the Rock of Cashel and across the road from Hoare Abbey. Lovely room. Hosts very personable and accommodating. Nice breakfast with fresh fruit, meats and gourmet cheeses as well as the regular continental choices. Breakfast was included even though Booking.com said it was not. I would definitely recommend this lodging.

Review 47:Would have been nice to have a TV in the room.

Review 48:Hospitality was second to none, Tom and Brid couldn't do enough for you. Breakfast delicious inc freshly baked Soda Bread....yum!!!

Review 49:Nothing.

Review 50:Lovely quiet poition very close to castle.Hosts spent some time with us trying to catch up with lost relative.Could not have been more helpful. Huge bedroom.

Review 51:Difficult to walk to restaurants, pubs after dark because the road has no lights. We drove without problem.

Review 52:The proprietors are great and the location is at the foot of the Rock. I joined in for an on-site yoga class that was great!

Review 53:All good

Review 54:Tom was a excellent host, and the place was perfect to get to rock of cashel, and the abbey just a stones throw away, breakfast was superb and healthy, Tom, was informative on venues to eat for dinner as well.

Review 55:Just be aware that it's a long walk uphill to get to Cashel Rock and/or the village.

Review 56:Awesome view of Cashel Rock; friendly staff; great bathroom.

Review 57:There is nothing to dislike.

Review 58:The location could not be more perfect. It's only steps away from the Hore Abbey ruins and, located at the base of the Rock of Cashel, it is only a short walk to the Rock. The owners are a delight. The breakfast is excellent. The rooms are comfortable.

Review 59:The room was great. The hosts were incredibly friendly and helpful. The location was very convenient. I would not hesitate for a second recommending this place.

Review 60:The room was a bit cold when we arrived and took a while to warm up, but we would return there time and time again when in Cashel!

Review 61:Tom and Bríd provide a lovely experience. There was a fire going in the kitchen/sitting area when we arrived in the evening by which we sat for a glass of wine and some reading. The kitchen was available for any cooking a guest might like to do up until about 9 pm. The location of the B&B was simply ideal! One can walk to both of the main historic attractions (the Rock of Cashel and the old Monastery grounds) within minutes, and both can be viewed from the property. Spectacular views. One can also walk into town for a meal, pint or coffee, but return to sleep in country quiet, which was exactly what we needed.

Review 62:The whole experience was way above average in that there was nothing that bothered us and plenty about this accommodation that we found a pleasure. The breakfast provided was one of the very best I have come across.

Review 63:I didn't like that the rooms and bathroom were so cold even with the heating on and no television in the room left us feeling a bit bored when we got back to the room.

Review 64:Parking right outside the door. Rooms and shower were very nice.

Review 65:Nothing really just need stronger wifi

Review 66:I loved this acomodation. I t was opposite a castle and was in a very attractive area. the building was a stone building we had two double bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms. We had the use of the kitchen and were allowed to cook our own food which was great. There was a beautiful log burner and sitting area. The wifi was very poor but was ok. The family who owned it was lovely and very acomodating. Highly recomend this place.

Review 67:In an excellent situation - walking distance to Cashel - the accommodation was warm, comfortable and spotless. Very good shower. In particular the breakfast was really delicious, buffet style, with everything you could want to hand. A very pleasant stay, made better still by warm and welcoming hosts.

Review 68:Each evening there was either a yoga class or exercise group in the large room next to ours...scheduled until 9 pm. In the morning, there was a day care operating in the downstairs. We should have been forewarned of these activities and there proximity to our room.

Review 69:Room was nice and breakfast was very good. The O'Brien's are delightful people.

Review 70:Nothing. Wished we had stayed longer. We did get a little lost finding it, but probably due mostly to extreme jet lag.

Review 71:We loved the great location, within walking distance to the Rock of Cashel and Hore Abbey. Nicely finished and spacious room with its own bath. Quiet and with lots of parking. Enjoyed the proprietor very much. Great continental breakfast; best of our 3 week trip.

Review 72:Very friendly couple running the place. Tom helped me make a reservation at Chez Hans (great local fine dining) to celebrate a birthday. Nice rooms with a breathtaking proximity to the abbey and the rock. Cashel was one of my favorite towns we visited and O'Briens had a lot to do with it.

Review 73:Location great for exploring Rock of Cashel, and a quick walk into town. Room was large and, clean very comfortable. No tv in room, but we used the tv in the kitchen/lounge area. Had no trouble using wifi. Breakfast was a nice change from all the fried breakfasts we had been having, fruit, cereal, toast, yogurts. owners were very friendly. Beautiful grounds and very well maintained, highly recommended for a stay in Cashel.

Review 74:Nothing!

Review 75:The location was picturesque and relaxing with terrific views of the Rock of Cashel and the Abbey. We walked within minutes to both, across cow fields and really loved the rural atmosphere but close enough to the town to feel connected. I loved the small patio by parking area with potted flowers alive with Small Tortiseshell butterflies. Bedroom was comfy and quiet. Breakfast room was perfect with ample choices of hot and cold selections. Tom was a perfect host. We like to chat and he was most accommodating, witty and knowledgeable. Great place to stay!

Review 76:Our only regret......having to leave!!! We could have stayed a week!

Review 77:The location couldn't have been better! Restful night in comfortable, clean, quiet, nicely decorated room. At sunrise, walked, literally, across the street to the abbey for amazing pictures. After a delicious breakfast and enjoyable visit with Tom and Brid, walked a few yards away to tour Rock of Cashel, another highlight!

Review 78:Quiet, peaceful setting & a short walk into town. Great view of the Rock of Cashel & very close to Hore Abbey. Very nice breakfast. Great hosts.

Review 79:The room was not as we expected. We had two twins beds, desk and one lamp. As you enter the bathroom, you had to duck or bump you head on a rafter. We got a few bruises. The shower barely had any water pressure.

Review 80:The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The continental breakfast was very good.

Review 81:Would highly recommend - the owners were extremely friendly, helpful, and humorous, and the accommodations were fabulous. Proximity to town and the sights was also a big plus.

Review 82:Only one very minor niggle... the shower pressure was a bit low.

Review 83:The location is great with an uninterupted view of the ruins of the abbey and The Rock of Cashel just over the road. The owners where very welcoming and helpful especially as they were hoping for a night off but took us in anyway. Very comfortable night and lovely breakfast of cereals, fresh fruit salad & yogurt followed by a variety of cold meats, cheeses and breads.

Review 84:The owners were wonderful. Our flight from the states was delayed and it caused our luggage to be delayed. We were traveling to O'Brien's from another part of Ireland. Our luggage was delivered to them prior to our arrival and they stored it for us. In addition, we had a late arrival at the lodge upon which we were welcomed. It's a lovely place with very hospitable owners. We would definitely stay again.

Review 85:Superb stay in Cashel. Excellent Stable converted accommodation. Very comfortable and spacious rooms. All accommodation worldwide should have bathrooms like O'Briens..

Review 86:Advertised wifi in every room, however we could not get wifi in our room and had to go to the kitchen area to use internet. Uncomfortable, inconvenient and disappointing. Since wifi is one of our requirements, we felt they misrepresented the avaliability of wifi in every room.

Review 87:The location was good for the Hore Abby and Cashel Rock. Breakfast was good.

Review 88:Comfortable, clean, well maintained. Excellent breakfast, very friendly. A little hard to find, if you have a gps put coordinates in. Views amazing.

Review 89:Wifi poor strength, needs a booster

Review 90:Great location to rock of cashel and hoare abbey, close to town Tom was a fantastic host for our large group in town for a wedding Rooms very comfortable and clean Breakfast and kitchen facilities excellent

Review 91:Breakfast was a nice boring. Nothing hot except toast.

Review 92:Close to all that Cashel has to offer. Very nice owners. Beautiful building & grounds. Helpful with advise.

Review 93:Very comfortable and clean....staff was very kind and helpful. Two beautiful old castles basically in the front yard!! Our favorite in all of Ireland.

Review 94:Other guests also had some uncertainty about whether breakfast was provided, which it was: continental buffet.

Review 95:good location next to abbey and short walk into town. comfortable rooms but watch your head up stairs. Well equipped kitchen if you wanted to cook something yourself

Review 96:Although the continental breakfast was nice, a traditional Irish breakfast would have been much nicer.

Review 97:If you're wanting to visit the rock of Cashel and the Abbey, this is an excellent place to stay

Review 98:So convenient and lovely owners. Great parking and access to rooms. Clean, nice décor. Loved that a fridge was available in common area. Breakfast was very good. Of two rooms, one was on the small side, but still adequate.

Review 99:Central and yet quiet, in walking distance to the village centre, located between (and in view of) Hore Abbey and the Rock of Cashel; very friendly and helpful owners; spacious, clean and well-equipped rooms in a beautiful country building; great breakfast; very good value for money. We particularly loved the charming atmosphere of the accommodation.

Review 100:Wifi might be a bit weak in the bedroom but still manageable. The problem is solvable by going closer to the main hall.

Review 101:The lodge situate about 10 minutes walk out of town so it gives a peaceful and calm feeling during my stay and it's quite close to few tourist spots as well. Staffs were very nice and friendly.

Review 102:We were so pleased with our stay, we couldn't have asked for better! Breakfast was lovely, we had a choice and it was all laid out lovely. You couldn't wish to meet a nicer couple, they were so friendly and took the time to chat and have a laugh! We will definitely be going back. We certainly recommend it to others.

Review 103:The owners of O'Brien's Cashel Lodge are among our absolutefavorite of our trip to Ireland. Tom and Bri are wonderful hosts andtheir accommodations are some of the better ones we stayed at. Plenty ofroom for our daughter to run around, Hore Abbey and Rock of Cashel inwalking distance. Wonderful stay. Go to Cashel and stay here. You willnot be disappointed.

Review 104:No WiFi, through no fault of the owner. It was a little further from the town than I thought. But this wasn't a big problem.

Review 105:comfortable, affordable and clean. Great for a stopover.

Review 106:Proprietor was very very kind and helpful. The location is incredible, right across from an old Abbey, so beautiful.

Review 107:Friendly staff and excellent breakfast... Great location to Rock of Cashel....

Review 108:Great host, Location, Nice rooms

Review 109:Close to Rock of Cashel.Beautiful countryside.Friendly hosts. Comfortable room.

Review 110:Location, location and wonderful hosts

Review 111:No tv in room, difficult to find

Review 112:Country setting, continental breakfast

Review 113:Loved it all!

Review 114:Cozy lodge; beautiful place and very welcoming. Best was the Abbey across the pasture in the middle of a bunch of cows! Magical!

Review 115:Nothing - all was brilliant.

Review 116:Tom & Brid were fantastic and so welcoming and helpful. We had a great week. Thank you.

Review 117:Not the typical B and B. Warm friendly atmosphere. Continental breakfast was delicious with fresh organic taste. Great views.

Review 118:Loved the location and ambiance; charming hosts.

Review 119:In our three week trip in Ireland, this B&B was one of the very best! The owners, the accommodations, the location were all unsurpassed.
