Reviews for Agriturismo Santa Margherita

Review 1:Careful choose the path leading to the Santa Margherite. And arrival as early as you can because in the evening, it's dark and dangerous.

Review 2:Sympathetic, friendly and helpful staff. Good view because of the location on top of the mountain. Rich breakfast and fresh air in the morning. Big house ideal for a big family to spend holidays. Restaurant high quality price, plenty of local Sicilian food.

Review 3:There is nothing not to like about this place.

Review 4:The staff were very friendly, the facilities are great as is the view, the area is beautiful, and the food was amazing.

Review 5:Very nice family and the Staff, fantastic view, fantastic local food and very interesting evenings with sicilian dinners. The owner's family invested a lot, i thing turists need suport places like that.

Review 6:Breakfast was too sweet, juice not fresh. Animals - rabbits, pigs, bull, donkey and horse - held in poor condition in dark stables :(

Review 7:Great location, beautiful view, great food

Review 8:Hmm, cannot say anything as the accomodation price is too good.

Review 9:Beautiful view to the sea and they offer an absolutely tasty sea food dinner in their restaurant for 25€!!! Cute rooms! :))

Review 10:The worst thing was, that there was a wooden (thin) door between our room and the next appartment. So we could hear every word the neighbours said to each other, and I suppose they heard everything we did. This is really very bad. Our room had a very small window, so it was very dark. If you want to read etc. take a flashlight with you. Then there is the "italian" comprehension of way of life: If it sais officially breakfast from 8:00, this means in reality something between 8:15-8.30. Checkout from 8:00 means 9:00. If you plan something in the morning, take this in care. Breakfast is eh-eh. If you like the traditional sweety/cake kind of breakfast, this is good for you, but if you like salami/traditional european kind of breakfast, then forget it, it's not worth it.

Review 11:The view from the appartment is beautiful.

Review 12:We had paid more for a room with view, all we got was a small unpleasant and noisy room for the same price. Unfriendly owner.

Review 13:Fantastic homemade food.

Review 14:For starters we were given a room without a/c, however a fan was sufficient. The place is run down, very cheap furniture, no insect screens. The swings are dangerous contraptions, the few animals in the barn are in poor conditions. Staff demotivated, breakfast very meagre & cheap.

Review 15:The place is situated in a beautiful location. Dining in the evening is a great experience, house wine is very good. Pool was ok.

Review 16:Did not get the room we booked - no a/c in September is unacceptable. Shower cubicles need a good scrub or better still replacing - same goes for the bed linen. Breakfast expectations were much higher, maybe with a varied choice of local or own grown products which was not the case. Moreover, staff needed to be reminded to replenish empty trays. Some of the staff need training in customer care - the place has great potential and could definitely be better managed.

Review 17:Place is a beauty with breath taking views and food is great.

Review 18:Breakfast is too sweet. Just few chesse and ham. Too many sweets, cookies , jam . All of them very delicious But eating every morning ...hmmm. The plastic tables and chair on the restaurant garden dont match with All surroundings. Wooden or metal garden furniture will fit better with restaurant sicilian style. I didnt like That prices for dinner Was not Available at the time of serving dinner. We Were charged at the end of sejour. We were charged for using the pool .

Review 19:The location is very nice and the view is breath- taking. The rented house Was very confortable and well equiped with All You need during the stay. We reAlly enjoyed " sicilian night" Giuseppe is a great entertainer. Good music and good food.

Review 20:Amazing view and the food was very delicious. The dinner was amazing food home grown and extremely good. Pool good and there's even a tennis court.

Review 21:The pictures are better than the hotel. The owner was rude on arrival. The room we booked was not available for 2 days, with no apology or explanation. The only hotel in my experience where they insist you wear a cap. I was banned from the pool because i did not wear a cap. The location is difficult to find and for access to other locations. The breakfast is very average compared to other hotels in Sicily.

Review 22:Nothing

Review 23:GPS might not give you best route. However, on arriving at Patti it's quite easy to follow the signs to agriturismo.

Review 24:Excellent location - divine food!

Review 25:First night we didn't get the seaview room we booked but for the second night we got a beautiful one and they moved all our things without any help asked from us which was really kind. I got myself hurt on second morning with a broken chair but the owner was so sorry for the thing he offered us a meal which was really fun. No complaint remained unresolved which is outstanding.

Review 26:The owner Giuseppe is the most enthusiastic, energetic man, he really does the best for all his clients, always on spot . Though we had some bad experiences during our stay he was ready to make us feel more comfortable. I would recommend, you will need a car, but the fantastic view pays off for that! Good value for money. The farm itself is very traditional and beautiful, unique place.

Review 27:We stayed in the tennis cabin and stored our luggage on the single bed in the corner. In the morning I found ants had gotten into my suitcase. I would definitely return but would stay in one of the main buildings, not the cabin. Bathing caps must be worn in the pool.

Review 28:The agriturismo is in a beautiful location overlooking the sea at Gioioso Marea. The lunch was plentiful and delicious - the best food we had in Sicily! The owner was very helpful and knowledgable, giving us ideas of things to do in the area.

Review 29:You must stay for the dinner! Amazing! Food home grown and extremely good. Great views from the terrace. Pool good and there's even a tennis court. Lovely property

Review 30:I was really looking forward to staying at Santa Margherita agritursimo, having planned our stay there since last September. After a long 3 hour flight and drive from catania airport, we were really disappointed to find that the two bedroomed apartment that we had booked was not available and no other accommodation was available at the agriturismo. The owner provided us with an alternative accommodation 2 kms further down the hill in an apartment in the grounds of a family home with use of their pool. The apartment was a good size and well equipped, but did not have the same holiday atmosphere as the agriturismo. As it was 2 kms further down the hill, we were also 2kms closer to the motorway and we could hear the motor way even in the bedroom. Not the peace and quiet we were hoping for. As compensation for missing out on breakfast each morning of our five day stay, we were invited to dinner for two evenings at the agriturismo. Had we been warned that the apartment was not available prior to arriving I would have found an alternative agritursimo for our stay.

Review 31:Dinner in the evening.

Review 32:Room was far from the pools. We did not get the rooms, what we booked. Less staff, then needed to be organized.

Review 33:Nice, historical buildings, wonderful location and view

Review 34:We did not get the room we booked, no mountain view, no wifi in room, terrace, soundproofing, air-con, desk etc. the room was damp and smelled, rooms only cleaned three times in a week, toilets did not flush and no water on 3-4 days. Horses need to be let out and cleaned more.

Review 35:Good food experience, nice evening meals with home grown ingredients. Staff were nice and very helpful. Swimming area good and location overall was excellent with superb views. Nice cats!

Review 36:We chose the location for its relatively short distance to Milazzo ferry - it was only sad that our early start meant we couldn't emphasise what a lovely stopover we had. However, on arrival we spent a leisurely time enjoying the pool and view. We followed the advice of other reviewers and enjoyed a fabulous and very filling Sicilian homemade dinner and wine. With regard to comments about the location, don't be put off. With satnav we found Santa Margherita easily and it is well signposted as you get nearer - we only missed the last turn because we were distracted by the immense view! In spite of the photos, I couldn't believe that the sea view could be so great, when it looked like Santa Margherita was so far back from the road on the map.

Review 37:The room that we were staying in was really dark and faced the same side as the kitchen workers' entry. That's why it was noisy at night.

Review 38:Great place, great owner Juseppe, who is very welcoming, attentive and speaks very good English. And the food is amazing! If not for staying at this agriturismo, it's definitely worth going for a diner there.

Review 39:The (bath)room was a bit rundown, but that's not too bad for theprice I paid (32€), especially with everything going on outside of it.There were (local) 'parties' in the restaurant, which were a bitnoisy but I guess that adds to the 'couleur locale'.

Review 40:Not so easy to reach but once you get there, the view is amazing.Perfect to relax a day or two at the pool (which has a good size). Thefood in the evening was sooo good ! Restaurant staff was super attentiveand very kind.

Review 41:Beautiful views, excellent wi-fi connection in our bungalow near tennis court, the best orange juice for breakfast, nice place to explore Sicily (Etna, Eolian islands, Cefalu)

Review 42:The service is nice but a bit imposing. Every evening we were encouraged to eat the 3 course supper but not a word about the price of the whole meal or the courses themselves. We ended up with the bill for the meals exceeding the price of the whole stay - and all we had was a few starters and a bottle of wine. The food it self was exceptionally good but the bill disgusted us. The place is a little tricky to find.

Review 43:This place is unique - traditional Sicilian houses with original (rustic) interiors, great view over the Eolian Islands, Great surroundings - groves of orange trees, goats and sheep wondering around the place. Very tasty food. Perfect place for people that value rural peace.

Review 44:All the staff is very nice and friendly and the place is just magical. The food is delicious and traditional. They have a wide choice of activities and tours. The two days we were here were amazing! Thank you!

Review 45:Narrow winding uphill road leading to accommodation could be challenging first time

Review 46:Scenery. Location accommodation. Meals. Staff are very helpful and welcoming. Good value for money.

Review 47:The room is small and with absolutely no view except for the concrete wall (although the reservation suggested sea view). You need a key to get out of the building if the door is closed.

Review 48:The price, breakfast, place for kids to play, restaurant

Review 49:It was amazing, the view is incredible and the food is just delicious. They also arranged a trip to the aeolian islands for us and it was great! Recommended!

Review 50:we missed a continental breakfast. They offer only fresh pies and pastries that are socer perfect, but we missed eggs, sausages, butter, and fresh fruits.

Review 51:good location for trips to the northern and eastern part of Sicily, beautiful view, great Sicilyan food- recommend dinner, comfort, good vine.

Review 52:The rooms are poorly equipped with old furniture. It was very cold in the room and the owner was rude when we reported broken radiator in the room. Because of his attitude he made the experience of the place quite unpleasant.

Review 53:The place was located on the top of the hill with a nice sea view – easy to get to. On the arrival we received a wonderful welcome from Christina. She was very nice and helpful throughout our stay. When we discovered the heating in the room was broken she went to the great length to help – very warm hearted and kind person. The food served for breakfast and dinners was fresh and very good.

Review 54:We enjoyed the hospitality of Ms.Christina, our host, very much, as well as the surrounings, local cuisine and lovely accommodation. We recommend this place to everyone who loves great views, food, and wants to experience something exceptional and very much Sicilian :-)

Review 55:The place is breath-taking beautiful. Easy to find with a GPS. Breath-taking views of the alien islands and the mountains. Very clean place Very beautiful surrounding villages near the sea recommend using a car. Food is very delicious and excellent service from the Chef and the staff - I recommend eating from their restaurant

Review 56:Super panoramic view on the Aeolian islands. The room was very spacious and comfortable with a very clean bathroom and equipped. The best feature is the food. We have been truly satisfacted with the tipical food of Sicily. It's easy to find because it's near the main street about 2 km. The staff is very friendly it's been a great pleasure staying there. I'd surely come back during my Sicilian holidays.

Review 57:First night was awful - instead of "mountain view" we got a ground floor room with a window to the ground actually - no sunlight, but early-morning and evening staff sounds from the restaurant's kitchen. Another option was to live in a separate building cross the road - far from breakfast and pool. However they managed to give us perfect room with a see view on the second day after our very sad faces next morning. What could be better - it could have slightly less rooms, felt like a conveyer with 20 people each morning hunting for breakfast. Also location is somewhat a bit strange - the neighbourhood is really empty - empty beaches, empty towns -maybe just september is not the high season or may be this is a wrong direction.

Review 58:Terrific views, cool twisty road to the farm and out to Etna (80km of driver's happiness!). far from rush - just relax at the pool, read your book, watch the sea, enjoy tasty italian meals and good sleep

Review 59:A car would be an asset as the location is about 4kms outside of Patti

Review 60:We loved everything about this charming resort which is located in the hills above Patti. The location boasts spectacular views in a country setting. The resort has a restaurant with a different set menu every night that is great value, good food and comp. wine. Giuseppe, the owner, is very accommodating and we ended up extending our stay a couple of days.

Review 61:The room we've got (number 1) is at the back of the main house. This is located just next to the kitchen that is very noisy, particularly after dinner until midnight, and in the mornings before breakfast. The use of swimming caps (compulsory), is annoying and could be easily avoided.

Review 62:Sitting on the slopes of the mountains next to the Tirrenian sea, Santa Margherita enjoys a magnificent view of the sea and the Aeolian islands from everywhere. The rooms are big and comfortable, although there is no air conditioning. Breakfast is very nice, with lots of options and freshly made croissants every morning. Swimming pool is fantastic and exceptionally located, although quite far from the main house.

Review 63:It is difficult to find. But a word of advice - do not use a gps to findthe place - this will get you lost. Follow the directions and once youfind the first sign to Santa Margherita just follow the signs.

Review 64:Spectacular views. Fantastic dinners. Excellent value for money.Swimming pool. Abundant on site parking.

Review 65:Nothing big. Only the tennis court did not look very appealing.

Review 66:We stayed one night before taking the ferry to Stromboli. For dinner, we joined an unforgettable Sicilian evening with music and very good food organized by our host Giuseppe. The personnel is friendly, the view is marvelous and the swimming pool looked very nice (although we did not jump in).

Review 67:- Very difficult to reach by car due to lack of explanation - Full fee of our stay was pre-charged on our foreign currency credit card without our approval before our arrival! On booking.com our credit card number was requested only for guarantee for the reservation, not for charging before stay. We had extra costs because of this. - Staff hardly speaks English - Our "mountain-view" was a 'wall-view' of a brick wall at the back-yard. When we inquired about it, reception said: no sea-view is mountain-view (even if it is a brick wall) - Room was noisy in the morning, bathroom was not clean (female hair on the wall tiles, mold in the shower) - The fridge was very loud - The same waiter asked us 4 times our room number during one dinner.

Review 68:- Fantastic panoramic view - Hotel in the nature on big property - Good food, nice wine - Fridge provided in the rooms

Review 69:Unfortunately we as a small family had a rather small and damp room near the kitchen, did not smell good. Also the old fifties club chair was not so inviting. We could have had a better room from Giuseppe, but all where already fully booked. The entrance to the hotel could use some upgrading and was very steep. The breakfast was okay, but we had better in Sicily.

Review 70:Typical busy italian family hotel. The fantastic view on the aeolian islands, the dinner outside on the terrace, the very helpfull owner Giuseppe, the swimming pool. Giuseppe even called other appartment owner for me, because i did not speak italian. Also the staff is very helpfull, although it was very busy in high season.. New towels every 2 days is fine. In an half hour you reach Milazzo for the Aeolians ferry.

Review 71:There is nothing bad to say.

Review 72:The food is amazing. They have their own fresh water spring, which you are free to use. The pool was lovely and quiet. The owner Giuseppe was quite a character, the stay had a slight Faulty Towers feel to it!! The staff are very helpful and friendly. The views are fantastic. Brilliant value for money. We all had great fun and would recommend the hotel to other travellers.

Review 73:Breakfast- Quality of the cheese and 'rustic' bread. Room location near the kitchen- too noisy especially in the the mornings.

Review 74:View Staff- friendly and helpful Room- very clean and adequate

Review 75:the bungalow by the pool was nice, but small for a family with a small child

Review 76:good view , marvelous sights from the terace and restaurant delicious meals good hoouse wine and lemoncello interesting entertainment two swimming pools

Review 77:It is hard to find indeed, although they have tried to indicate the place with some signs. And contrary to what the website claims the wifi is only available in the restaurant and the (small) reception, which can be a challenge if you travel with teenagers....it's the only thing I would improve to this perfect place.

Review 78:Great breakfast and wonderful Sicilian dinners with a simply spectacular views over the sea. Sympathetic people, nice pool, and we had a lovely room.

Review 79:The hot water didn't work, nor was internet available in the rooms.

Review 80:The staff was warm and friendly.

Review 81:Hard to find...

Review 82:Food, best deserts

Review 83:Could be warm in the summer, our room had no air conditioning. The bathroom was a little tired.

Review 84:Nice and helpful staff. Beautiful views.

Review 85:Shower and bathroom facilities in the room needs improvement

Review 86:Staff was very friendly and helpful , food was excellent.

Review 87:Fantastic location, fantastic views, fantastic staff, fantastic food, fantastic service, and fantastic food & beverage

Review 88:No air conditioning

Review 89:The cuisine was excellent

Review 90:Delicious food, great staff, geat views. It's a perfect place to relax.

Review 91:Bed sheets could do better without holes in them ))

Review 92:Excellent staff, healthy food, free wine.

Review 93:We were given a flat a Km away from the Main building, and was not part of the Santa Margherita grounds.

Review 94:The Views, breakfast and the pool.

Review 95:The road to get there...very narrow and difficoult to drive with standard car...would suit only jeep

Review 96:The view

Review 97:Uncomfortable beds,mosquitos

Review 98:Nice pool,sea view,restaurant.

Review 99:it's a bit of a difficult drive to find it

Review 100:this place is BEAUTIFUL and the food and service is fabulous--would definitely return

Review 101:nothing

Review 102:good services and views. what's more the dinner is perfect!!!

Review 103:the best place we stay in sicily

Review 104:The rooms in stone buildings are fine the wooden bungalows are ok.

Review 105:The food is excellent

Review 106:Rooms a small and unlike on photos on booking. Personnel was not very friendly

Review 107:Great view.

Review 108:Giuseppe and his staff really helped us when we had some problems in our car. Beautiful view. The breakfast and evening meals were excellent.

Review 109:Everything especially the food

Review 110:staff pool room information

Review 111:Lovely view Excellent food (the best we had in Sicily)

Review 112:View, dinner, owner, house, place

Review 113:amazing food!! Beautiful pool and location. Stunning - wish I could go back.

Review 114:Great views, awesome food, great atmosphere

Review 115:location, fantastic scenery, nice staff, good food. lifeguard by the pool

Review 116:Location instructions - the Santa Margherita was some 9 km from the town in the address and we lost time finding it that could have been spent in the lovely pool. Perhaps a Sicilian thing but ask for directions if having trouble, Sicilians very happy to help.

Review 117:Views, natural setting, good facilities, lovely outdoor terrace overlooking sea, relaxed and friendly attitude of owner, good food, flexible choice of outdoor relaxation areas, lovely pool - wished we could have stayed longer.

Review 118:not easy to find initially - directions from motorway exit should not mention road names if those names are not displayed !

Review 119:Very good location with fantastic views. Very good value for money, especially with the evening meal. Good breakfast. Extensive site, we stayed in a lodge adjacent to the tennis court (court was poorly maintained). Staff helpful with planning a boat trip to the Aeolian Islands.

Review 120:Only one tiny thing -- a little high-up opening -- a vent? -- between my bathroom and that of the room next door. I didn't feel like it decreased privacy exactly, but sounds traveled a bit..

Review 121:The setting was gorgeous! My room was comfortable and clean, the staff accommodating, and the dinner fabulous. My friend and I appreciated the cheerful way the restaurant staff received our request for a vegetarian meal. They brought forth course after course of delicacies -- artichoke frittata, grilled eggplant, spinach, potato croquettes, panela, fruit, and of course the excellent homemade limoncello to finish things off. I could have stayed there a month!

Review 122:There was no information that we had booked apartment with one bedroom. We were two couples and were really disappointed that we had to take another apartment and to overpay about that. The internet is only in the main building. The accommodation was not cleaned - in 7 days the room cleaning was only once. Every night we could' t sleep, because of a baby crying in the apartment next to us, very noisy :( It' s because the apartments are separated by a locked door, not a wall, so it is very good to hear everything what neighbors do and say. But despite everything, we enjoyed these 7 days and I suggest Agriturismo Santa Margherita to everyone! :)

Review 123:The staff was friendly and helpful. It was very difficult to find this place, booking.com specified GPS coordinates took us completely to another place and we could't to find the hotel any more. We called to the hotel and they came after us late at night. Beautiful place, very quiet, wonderful view, good breakfast.

Review 124:If I need to give one negative point..Felt ' forgotten' after registration for check in. Needed to run a bit after the staff to be given the key for our room. After one hour this was solved, I realize the staff is busy but they could have been a bit more pro active here.

Review 125:Great location, great view and perfect setting. Breakfast was excellent as well. Nice to be welcomed with a drink. Could have spend many more nights here without a doubt.

Review 126:Location is hard to find and quite remote. (Some might consider the remoteness a plus). GPS location did not work. Hot water was uneven in shower. Nowhere else to go for dinner nearby. The Agroturismo had a nice appetizer spread and included a jug of wine but the rest of dinner was forgettable (also, there was no choice for the pasta or meat course)-- eat a big lunch somewhere else and just have the appetizer selection as a light dinner.

Review 127:View was lovely and we had a balcony. Breakfast was very good. Bed was comfortable. Plenty of parking. Room/breakfast was excellent value for money. Staff was helpful. I recommend the room (but eat before you arrive).
