Reviews for The Lodge at Dillons
Review 1:pity guests cannot get in to the restaurant more easily - we could not get in either of the 2 nights we stayed here because they were fully booked, which was a pity
Review 2:nice decor, availability of small breakfast hall for "make your own tea, cereals and toast", friendly staff
Review 3:It was hard to find..it was located down an alley with no way to get in except from the backside which looked like a private drive and totally unconnected to the Lodge No signs to direct you to it. But, once found well worth it.
Review 4:The lodge is located in a lovely courtyard. Very private and quiet, but the city just a walk through the alley. We only stayed one night so did not get acquainted with the city. Rooms were clean, comfortable, and our host, Mr. Reagan was charming, helpful, and informative.
Review 5:Walls/ceilings are paper thin, some kind of soundproofing needed. Between hearing the room nxt door snoring very loudly, and the room above having sex, very heavy footed, relaxing wasn't an option. Then the noise which filtered through when people were leaving you'd think there was a stampede
Review 6:Staff are lovely, location great, kitchen is fantastic idea
Review 7:A little noisy in room above but only in the morning wooden flooring!!!!!! But if your out and about visiting you won't find this a problem it was only one morning☺
Review 8:Loved the quaintness of the courtyard, loved the restaurant and bar area and staff were very welcoming and helpful.
Review 9:The owner, Paul, and his staff were incredibly helpful. They reserved a table in their busy pub, helped with bus schedules and even gave us a lift to the bus station. Our room was clean and very comfortable and the location allowed us to walk around Ballina.
Review 10:The facilities are fairly basic, being on a room only basis, but overall it was fine for our purposes.
Review 11:The location in the Courtyard and close to the river was very nice. The staff were very friendly.
Review 12:Only downside was there was no full length mirror and we were going to a wedding so it would have been really nice to have one.
Review 13:Fantastic central location. Very clean and comfortable. Huge rooms (rooms 2 and 3). There wasn't an iron in the room but Paul the manager brought one within 15mins of ringing. great to have parking on site and walking distance to all shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants etc. Very reasonable price. The self service breakfast area was perfect and had plenty of milk, juice, yogurts, bread and cereals to choose from.
Review 14:Nothing to do with owners but didn't like that some of my food was taken from communal fridge by a totally unscrupulous other resident despite clear notice on everything!
Review 15:Location was great and very nice room. Liked simple breakfast space with fridge you could leave your own food in.
Review 16:There was an issue with our bill, we were charged for 4 main courses and 2 drinks which we did not have. The waitress was polite but we felt uncofortable when we explained the issue as 90% of the staff we around the till trying to resolve, there was no discreation in relation to the confusion. Also we paid for our accomodation with the meal (we were asked to pay the day before check out as nobody would be there to take the money when we were leaving), when we checked our reciept it was for the incorrect bill again (although we paid the correct bill). We both had a terrible night sleep (room 2) as the people in the room above us were terrible snorers and kept us awake all night. The walls must be paper thin. Also every time they used the bathroom it was like we were there with them.
Review 17:We arrived at 6pm, as there is a bar and restaurant in the courtyard we asked about making a reservation. Paul was very kind and advised they were fully booked but as we were staying in the accomodation to pop over whenever suited and he would get us a table. The food was lovely and very reasonable price. Also cereral and kitchen facilaties at no extra charge.
Review 18:Nothing. It was perfect. If anything I would suggest upgrading the bathrooms as they wouldn't be as new as bedrooms but still lovely
Review 19:The lodge is right beside an excellent restaurant and pub. Food is gorgeous and staff lovely. Within minutes walk of main street also.
Review 20:Some people may not like the self service breakfast. There is small kitchen area with bread, cereal, yogurts and juice. We found it a nice change from cooked breakfasts to have toast and cereal. It is no problem washing the pots up ready for the next person.
Review 21:Great location, friendly staff, great room. Would stay here again. Bar and restaurant across the court yard. Free parking.
Review 22:If I was being awful picky I only found the cobblestones hard to walk on in heels. But that's not even a complaint.
Review 23:Staff could not have been more helpful. Large room with all facilities. Booked room only but there was a small communal kitchen with cereals tea and juices. This was more than we expected. I would recommend it
Review 24:There was nothing we didnt like, cant wait to go there again, well maybe a lace curtain on the large ground floor window for privacy
Review 25:Staff lovely and friendly, Paul a gentleman that couldn't do enough for u and they Always had a smile for u. Food in the restaurant was second to none. We ate there each night, we didn't even bother to check out other restaurants. The location was brilliant too, couldn't have been closer to everything. The only thing that needs sorting is signage to help u find the place, that was a nightmare when we arrived
Review 26:We got a shock when we had to prepare our breakfast, but it was fine.
Review 27:We loved the proximity to everything.also the parking.a lovely courtyard setting. The owner Paul.....well what can I say. He works so hard, like a robot. We had such a warm welcome from him and he made us feel at home immediately. He was v busy when we arrived but we had his immediate attention. The restaurant had a lively atmosphere and the service was fast.
Review 28:No breakfast included. Some noise from upstairs, things being dropped, or anyone walking across the room upstairs could be heard quite loudly. Being in the town some noise could be heard from outside
Review 29:Reasonable price compared to others in the town and considering the events that were on that day. Great size room, two double beds in one room with lots of space to spare. Newly done, nice stylish decor, located close to everything.
Review 30:Staff were very friendly and helpful, the rooms were quiet and spotless. Although breakfast wasn't mentioned at the time of booking, it turned out that a simple self-service breakfast of cereals, toast, tea/coffee and juice was included. This was a welcome surprise - perfect for the kids who are too young to appreciate a café!
Review 31:The quality of the accomodation was superb. In the heart of Ballina, adjacent to the river moy, Belleek Castle, the new mondo athletics track, Belleek Woods, Dillons restaurant and bar and lots of great shopping in Ballina
Review 32:It was noisy, sometimes very noisy. The floors were uncovered floor boards and the bedroom furniture was very basic - inadequate. It was very difficult to locate and then to access. No personal touch though the staff in the restaurant were very nice.
Review 33:There was a restaurant downstairs and the town centre was within easy walking distance.
Review 34:The location and the newness of the room. You can walk all around the town, the river is close as well as shops and restaurants. The staff was great and the courtyard that the room overlooks is awesome! We also found Penneys department store close by, a great place to shop! While no breakfast was included in our booking, there was a shared breakfast nook with cereal and toast (a nice surprise). The family room has two separate bedrooms and an en-suite bathroom, very nice. The pictures on Booking.com are just like what you will get when you stay.
Review 35:No hot water for shower on arrival-apparently it's on a timer.the next morning the hot water was all gone by 9.00.this is a major mark against the hotel.the reception had not opened by 10.30 when I was leaving,so there was nobody to deal with my complaint The windows only have blinds so the rooms fill with sunlight very early.they need to be fitted with curtains, A lovely property with a great staff and location but a few things to be sorted out.
Review 36:Staff very friendly
Review 37:All good but small communal kitchen could cause difficulty during busy times. Maybe kettle and tea making facilities in room would be good idea.
Review 38:Personal attention from Paul and staff ,comfortable room , light self serve breakfast and very good evening food in restaurant.
Review 39:No negative points
Review 40:Manager was pleasant and helpful a kick back to how a business should deal with its customers .lovely room plenty of space .A minutes walk from the town but located in a lovely quiet courtyard .
