Reviews for Ballina Manor Hotel
Review 1:we found online that this hotel had a swimming pool, which is why we chose it, but there is no swimming pool at all, with which we were very disappointed.
Review 2:The location is great, right in the middle of the town with car parking
Review 3:Parking arrangements (100 mtrs up the road); the smell of gas (truly!); poor atmosphere; 'bar' (so-called) was poorly staffed and lacked any sense of atmosphere; it just all felt a bit quirky, tired and dated.
Review 4:Location was central
Review 5:Small rooms but comfortable. No water in the rooms & no where to get water at night....
Review 6:Fantastic view of the river moy, centre of town, friendly staff, very clean,
Review 7:The hotel was brilliant value for money, the food was excellent, it was clean, modern and centrally located. The staff were fantastically friendly and professional and did everything they could to make our stay comfortable and pleasant.
Review 8:On Arrival, car park was flooded and unusable. Due to this, I asked to revoke our booking but was refused. I then asked for a token gesture - eg, free breakfast. Receptionist said she would discuss with manager. However, next morning at checkout receptionist stated (on request) that Manager was not contactable (we must pay 100%) but would call us later by phone. Pool was also flooded. No subsequent contact, although I emailed and made a formal complaint.
Review 9:Location is very central. Floor, Bar and Dining Room Staff helpfull.c
Review 10:The staff are all very helpful & nothing is ever too much trouble for them, we have stayed here for the last four years &I can highly recommend this hotel, service is second to none , Sally Mulkeen
Review 11:I did not have breakfast during my stay. Unfortunately I did not ask if there was an alternative to a full Irish breakfast for 11 euro. The evening menu was varied and enjoyed a good meal.
Review 12:The location was very convenient to the town centre and easy to find from the bus station. My double room was comfortable and there was lots of comfortable seating in several areas to relax. Good to have tea/coffee making and Wifi facilities.
Review 13:Just to assist you - rooms stayed very warm even when heat turned off; Pants press didn't work, and I never mentioned it to staff.
Review 14:Excellent location and fairly priced. Staff is very cordial and knowledgeable.
Review 15:Toilet was wobby in room , fashion show on till late on the Sunday and a number of people in the smoking area under our room were talking loud and using fowl language . Lack of parking and I asked for a river view and did not receive it
Review 16:Staff very helpful and friendly a credit to your organisation .
Review 17:Staff polite but not as nice for Irish standards. Four star hotel but needs to be renovated. Plus they advertise facilities, like a pool that was not available and apart from a 'we are sorry' they did not consider offering something to remedy mistake.
Review 18:Nothing to complain about.
Review 19:Hotel is situated in lovely area, with river Moy close by.Very convient for shopping and good pubs.Staff in hotel very pleasant and helpful, will definetly stay there again.
Review 20:We booked the hotel because it had a swimming pool. This was closed while we were there. We had a room on the corner of 2 busy streets so a lot of night noise. Beds were not that comfortable and television left something to be desired.
Review 21:The dinner's were great, breakfast was okay and I must say the oatmeal was excellent.
Review 22:Not enough hotel car parking spaces in the car park. Mostly reserved for apartments. The carpet in the hallway to the rooms was stained and dirty looking.
Review 23:All the staff were very helpful and the reception area was warm and welcoming with a roaring fire on a cold wet night. Lovely breakfast!
Review 24:The room had cobwebs on the ceiling lights, the sink in our room leaked, bed was hard, temperature was far too high so we slept with windows both open only to be woke each morning by staff under our window talking loudly and smoking.
Review 25:The location
Review 26:ROAD WORKS IN BALLINA TOWN WERE DISRUPTIVE BUT IN FAIRNESS THIS WAS A ONE OFF.
Review 27:CLOSE TO THE TOWN. PLENTY OF EATING PLACES,SHOPS AND PUBS. FRIENDLY LOCALS AND NICE ATMOSPHERE. HOTEL STAFF WERE HELPFUL AND INFORMATIVE. HOTEL WAS CLEAN AND GREAT FOOD.
Review 28:Carpark was a joke. Check in staff, cold and uninterested. Rooms too hot. No leisure centre as described. Had to sleep with window open and smell chimney smoke all night.
Review 29:Carpets in some areas of the hotel was a bit tired and old fashioned.
Review 30:The staff were excellent. Especially the young man who served us for dinner. He was just so friendly sorry I didn't get his name but he had attended it sligo studying forensic science. Hope this identifys him as he was just super.
Review 31:Would have really liked to know, before booking, that this hotel was undergoing serious renovations. Paint smell permeated the whole hotel. The main restaurant, pool and games room were closed and we sort of booked at that hotel FOR those things. Eating breakfast to the smell of paint was sickening and almost unbearable. Beds were rather uncomfortable and for a non-smoking room to be right above the outdoor smoking area...it sort of defied the purpose.
Review 32:Wonderful staff, clean establishment. Beautiful location.
Review 33:Room very warm even though heat off... opening windows meant street noise... wouldn't stop me returning though.
Review 34:Great location for attending function in arts centre. Older style hotel, which is what we prefer. Staff very helpful. Food in bar was lovely.
Review 35:Bar staff over run and not enough staff on a busy Saturday evening. Bit of a maze to find rooms. Parking is limited
Review 36:Great town location and food very nice in bar and rooms are spotless clean
Review 37:Great location, Staff very helpful and friendly, asked for late checkout and got one without any hassle. Could not fault the stay, I was with a friend and the purpose of was leisure but this hotel would suit for a young couple ect..A good all rounder.
Review 38:Pool closed. Next door neighbour came home at 4:40am and turned on TV up full volume and fell into deep sleep. He left the key in the door so night porter could not get in (after phoning and knocking on door). There should always be a way in to a hotel room for staff in emergencies. This is a safety concern if someone had an accident.
Review 39:The hotel was quite large and it was confusing trying to find your room. Room was very dated, bathroom door handle came off. Room smelt of smoke.
Review 40:The hotel was in a central location with very friendly staff.
Review 41:Not much parking places and had to park in public car park which is a bit away from hotel.second floor corridor is a bit dated.
Review 42:The location was great for shops ect.. and all the staff were very friendly and the food was great..restaurant overlooking the moy is beautiful.
Review 43:Smell of bleach in room. Dull room with little day light. Bathroom tiny and difficult to get into. Underground car park a nightmare! Positively no atmosphere in bar or restaurant. Wifi breakdown in room
Review 44:The hotel was very clean & warm.
Review 45:Room in need of a refurb, nothing major just a little tired. some marks on walls. TV remote did not operate the TV.
Review 46:Great central location, comfortable and clean room. Breakfast
Review 47:personal comfort, the room was a bit too warm for comfortable sleeping. The only problems were due to road works coming into the hotel.
Review 48:good value and excellent meals. staff were cheery, helpful and friendly.
Review 49:ood was not good, it was cold, the plate had not been warmed, the chips were frozen. Parking was scarce and difficult. The swimming pool was closed
Review 50:Location was good, staff were friendly, room was OK
Review 51:Door handle to bathroom not fixed on, the card for the electric not working properly, signal for the television wasn't great.
Review 52:Clean room and sheets
Review 53:Small room, Windows located over smoking area. Very warm in hotel in general and unable to open windows due to smokers.
Review 54:Nice hotel but very dated. Clean rooms and nice staff however could do with some modernising. Good value for money. Perhaps four star hotel is a little bit of a stretch.
Review 55:I had a twin room booked, but it was a standard double room with a fold up bed at the foot of the double. I was on my own so it didn't matter, but I'm not sure someone paying for a nice hotel room would be all that happy sleeping on a fold out bed.
Review 56:Staff were lovely, room was nice. Would definitely stay again.
Review 57:The parking is very tight in terms of individual spaces and spaces allocated to the hotel,,,,I guess thats the challenge of an older hotel in the centre of town,,,, the hotel is a bit confusing in terms of up and down stairs I think better signposting might help,, the night porter was a bit surly,,, maybe he needs more sleep,,,!!!
Review 58:I booked well ahead of time and it was v good value,,,, the receptionist was most helpful and welcoming,,
Review 59:Really nice comfortable hotel with friendly and effecient staff in the heart of the town. The location is terrific for anyone who wants to be within walking distance of the town's amenities.
Review 60:the rooms were a bit small and toilets felt slightly dated but still really enjoyed our stay ..
Review 61:We really appreciated the helpfulness of the staff and how friendly they were :)
Review 62:No space in car park which is also used by residents of the adjoining apartment block. Full Irish breakfast very greasy and not a bit tasty. Whole building far too warm. Downstairs bar undergoing refurb so couldn't sample it. But there's a nice residents bar on the first floor.
Review 63:Central location, cleanliness, nice staff, nice spacious room. Dining room and residents' bar have nice view out over the river Moy.
Review 64:The food portions are small for the price over 8 euros for 4 crab claws?Breakfast was not hot enough.
Review 65:The room was lovely and clean and warm. The staff are helpful and so friendly.T
Review 66:The accommodations, location and breakfast was very good. We also had a family dinner during our stay which was excellent. We were a party of 8, the staff were attentive and the food excellent.
Review 67:Unfortunately there were roadworks happening early the next morning which we could hear quite loudly but this was bad timing not any fault of the hotel.
Review 68:The receptionist was very friendly and let us check in early. The location is perfect and the decor is elegant
Review 69:Read the above. I did not like that I did not read that breakfast was not included in the cost of the room. That should've been obviously posted.
Review 70:Quiet room. With windows open I could sleep. I will love it when there is the option to cover LED lights on t.v.s and appliances at nights
Review 71:We had room overlooking Main Street & noise was dreadful during weekend nights & street cleaning lorry woke us up before 6am both mornings
Review 72:Comfy bed-very friendly staff Excellent breakfast
Review 73:I wasn't informed the pool n gym were not in operation.. Felt really let down over this as I booked with them in mind
Review 74:Loved location.. Close to everything
Review 75:Facilities closed for renovation But heard from locals that this has been the case for over a year. So leisure facilities should not have been listed.
Review 76:location and staff
Review 77:Check-in staff a little off-hand and limitations of parking not fully appreciated beforehand. Hotel temperature seemed a little too high and opening the bedroom window allowed in late night street noise.
Review 78:Enjoyed restaurant meal with river view and attentive service, .
Review 79:The heat in the hotel was stifling - we had to have our windows fully open for the full 3 days and the corridors were roasting. The main bar was closed and only a small bar area upstairs was open. The pool was closed.
Review 80:Location right in centre of town. Having a perfect view of the river was nice.
Review 81:Yes, we were assigned to a SMOKING ROOM, but requested a Non Smoking, booking was made two months ahead of date we were to arrive & had to be moved to another room, which was an inconvenience, as we were in a hurry to attend a family wedding. Insufficient parking spaces in parking lot, so we had to park on street.
Review 82:The hotel staff were extremely helpful & cordial. Breakfast was quite tasty.
Review 83:Overheated. Breakfast was only average and overpriced.
Review 84:Comfortable room with view over river. We arrived early and managed to get a car parking space but could imagine this being a problem when busy. Check-in and out was efficient.
Review 85:Road noise, but when your that close in you pay a price for it and after 2 days I was used to it. Didn't miss any sleep.
Review 86:The location right in the village was great within walking distance of anything I needed. Staff was very cooperative and friendly.
Review 87:Not keen on sleeping with spiders. Housekeeping seems to be a major issue in this hotel. Thankfully there was a room to move to but again spiders seem to be an additional attraction in this hotel. Also bedroom had ancient furniture and carpets from the 70s
Review 88:First room we were checked into had an extended family of spiders living there quiet happily, right above the beds.
Review 89:Nothing
Review 90:Very friendly and helpful staff.our daughter was ill on our last night and they allowed us to stay in our room as long as we liked on day of checkout at no extra charge.they also gave us a pillow and towel for her comfort on the long drive back to Wexford.would definitely stay again.many thanks to you all.
Review 91:Shower control not working properly: No plug in sink: Bathroom doors unclean. A full laundry bag remained on the corridor outside neighbouring room for the duration of our stay (3 nights). No entertainment despite promise of same. Inadequate parking
Review 92:Staff very friendly and helpful: Location very central Room comfortable Breakfast very good
Review 93:The parking facilities are non existant we had to park our car in a car park a good walk from the hotel the hotel did give us a free parking ticket but it was really inconvenient and would but me off going there again
Review 94:The hotel was central to the town the staff was helpful and friendly and made us feel very welcome ,Hotel was clean and room was spacious and comfortable bed would go back to Ballina Hotel
Review 95:All the staff were brilliant a great service. Nice to see happy staff. Lorraine was very helpful and made our stay memorable. The night porter was very helpful again nice to see a happy welcoming face. Thank you everybody.
Review 96:Underground car park facilities poor. Couldn't get a sandwich after 4pm!!!! Too many doors (7) to access to get to/from room.
Review 97:Central location. Friendly staff. Clean room.
Review 98:I had booked several rooms in this hotel 6+ months in advance. While checking in I realized breakfast wasn't included in some. I made a simple request of a courtesy breakfast for the Groom on the morning of his wedding as a good will gesture for all the business he was bringing to this hotel over three days. This simple request had to be passed to management. The manager refused our request and didn't bother to contact us herself which shows a lack of courtesy and appreciation for our business. Such poor management has lost their owners lots of extra business over the 3 day weekend. Having trained and worked in Hotel and Catering, I am amazed and saddened to witness this treatment of guests. To add insult to injury they gave me room 225 which has to be the worst room in the hotel, stuffy feather pillows, shoddy carpet, poor lighting, no space and drunken noisy guests at 3am outside our window on the patio.
Review 99:Nothing after such poor treatment.
Review 100:The parking wasn't great! Limited no. Of spaces in the secure carpark and the street outside had a lot of broken glass on it which wasn't a good sign. The signage for the secure car park is at second floor level so wasnt visible when approaching on the local road.
Review 101:Hotel car park was underground and had no spaces. TV did not work. But hey parked on street and read a book.
Review 102:Staff were very friendly. Hotel was very nice. Would go back if I was in the area again
Review 103:arriving back after night out to find that electronic key cards were faulty and it took some time to locate the override key. Master key did not work.
Review 104:Young man on night duty was extremely helpful and eventually sorted the problem
Review 105:The layout of the hotel is very poor there is no natural order and the rooms are difficult to find.
Review 106:The reception staff were lovely and could not be more helpful. The night porters were very good. Did not have breakfast so cannot comment.
Review 107:The beds... The matrice would just slide off. And it was so hot in the rooms, and you can't open the windows much.
Review 108:The location is good, right in the centre of Ballina. The food at dinner in the restaurant was gorgeous
Review 109:We booked this hotel as the pictures on the website gave the impression that it had it sounds grounds not on a street. We also booked this hotel as it stated on the website it had two bars, nowhere did it state the main bar was closed and the other bar was a counter area within the restaurant and breakfast area
Review 110:Hotel was very clean and staff friendly
Review 111:Rooms too hot ,a little noisy from the street we had to keep the window open because it was so hot.
Review 112:Lovely staff all very friendly ,rooms were a little too hot . needed some music though .very central and a lovely town.
Review 113:Nothing negative to say.
Review 114:Staff were friendly and helpful. Location was perfect, close to shops and River Moy. Room was comfortable and very clean with lovely view. Very relaxing. Great food. We always stay here when we visit Ballina.
Review 115:Food was OK and breakfast wasn't that great. Eggs overcooked and long line for toaster
Review 116:Great location and nice staff. Fishermen were out that day which was cool
Review 117:No parking in the hotel, and is not a 4 star hotel. The furniture is quite old and the views weren't nice. The pics in the website must be old. The food was quite good though.
Review 118:It was clean and well located
Review 119:It was very warm when we were there air conditioning would have been great
Review 120:The swimming pool and the staff were Amazing anything you wanted/needed was got for you straight away with no hassle they were excellent
Review 121:Once again very helpful with the room gave us a walk in shower suite which we had not booked they sorted out when we arrived although we were early it was not a problem.
Review 122:room very hot even with windows open. very noisy people outside room 5am could not check in untill 1500 hrs breakfast scrambled eggs microwave overcooked disgusting. how long does it take to make a few scrambled eggs.
Review 123:good location and parking. very clean rooms nice staff nice overall hotel
Review 124:TV signal almost non-existent. Repairman called but unable to fix properly. Extra charge for breakfast.
Review 125:Parking in hotel's central location was on -site so ideal for town.
Review 126:we licked everything about this hotel. we wiil go back here again. it was fab.
Review 127:we licked the view and the resterant was lovely with a beautifull river view. All the staff where great. and the location was great for town..
Review 128:Very few car parking spaces. Very loud function in the basement bar which I could easily hear/feel in my 2nd floor room.
Review 129:Bed was great, very nice sleep. Nice view of the rover but the balcony is quite tiny (fits 5-6 people, max)
Review 130:The service was bad we had to wait a couple of mins before we were shown to our table for evening meal. At breakfast fruit salad was gone off! the food overpriced and safety for young children a huge concern as could open windows fully in our bedroom, door that should have been locked to pool open any small child could wander in.
Review 131:Hotel was very noisy. Room was poorly decorated (a throw back to the 80's) and not thoroughly cleaned. Breakfast was inedible, fruit salad was gone off and poached eggs under cooked & egg whites were still runny. Very poor value for money, will definitely not stay here again. This not a 4 star hotel, photos on website do not reflect the reality of the hotel.
Review 132:Friendly staff
Review 133:Very weak Wi-Fi (moved round room to keep 1 bar on laptop) - tea/coffee not topped up over 3 day visit - room not cleaned at all 2nd day - car park was 300 metres away (hotel car park was full all the time) Not value for what we paid
Review 134:Location
Review 135:The swimming pool was closed for cleaning on the second day of our stay. It was the main reason we chose this hotel . .
Review 136:A wonderful building; spacious and beautiful; a sheer delight . .
