Reviews for Arathena Rocks Hotel

Review 1:Decor and furniture needs a review and subtle update

Review 2:Best and Less frenetic location in Naxos Combination of Pool and Sea for Swimming Lovely garden and other leisure areas Dining & Refreshments availability

Review 3:The hotel had no sign at the entrance. We had to ask in order to find it. Check in closed at 8 pm, and the reception is locked up then - although the car ferry does not even get to the Island until 8.30 pm. Pool is rather small.

Review 4:Good gardens and view. Very helpful staff. Peaceful and comfortable.

Review 5:When we arrived to the hotel we soon figured out it was only three star hotel and not four star hotel. Hotel was clean, but in the toilet there was unpleasant smell. Breakfast was nothing special.

Review 6:Loved the location next to the sea. Staff were friendly.

Review 7:Wifi only available in public area and signal wasn't strong.

Review 8:The reception staff were friendly and helpful. The pool was great with plenty of sunbeds. Breakfast was good though fruit would have been a bonus.

Review 9:Wifi only in reception area (very poor) Shower not very nice

Review 10:The location is stunning and close to centre of Naxos. I liked the pool area, the staff was amazing and the prices were good!

Review 11:safe was broken and couldn't be fixed, had a few problems with air con but these were sorted out quickly

Review 12:Position of the hotel away from the busy Main Street in Guardini Naxos is perfect, right on the beach and quiet but still within easy walking distance on the resort. Quirky decor, sort of shabby chic

Review 13:The buffet dinner left a lot to be desired for the standard of the hotel. Also charging extra for a coffee with breakfast seems a bit rich! Nobody else in all Italy does that.

Review 14:The reception staff were excellent and the availability of onsite parking is a bonus.

Review 15:Breakfast time was 7-9 am. It should be at least to 10 am.

Review 16:Our room was sea view room And pool, rocks And sea was perfect. If We go giardini naxos again, We probably stay there again.

Review 17:Improve the size of the food portions at lunch!

Review 18:The atmosphere of this hotel is delightful, the warmth of the staff make for a lovely stay and the views of Etna and the Tourmina coastline are to die for, very happy!

Review 19:Endless negative signs "it is forbidden" etc. Just gives a poor impression that spoils the overall atmosphere.

Review 20:Lovely pool next to rocks and sea. Hotel crowded with Sicilian antiques and has the feeling of a faded 5 star hotel. Very helpful lady at the desk.

Review 21:Poor quality furnishing. Beds, mattress, flimsy plastic cups, electric fittings. Poor quality breakfast. No way a 4 star hotel as claimed.

Review 22:Location, parking availability, garden and swimming pool. Clean.

Review 23:Although Hotel was really lovely and area was very run down, needs a good overall.

Review 24:bus service was very good to travel around area.

Review 25:Ac wasnt cold

Review 26:Breakfast

Review 27:Definetly a 3* not 4* hotel as advertised Same breakfast every day, no variety Wirelles only in reception Paint drains on the floor of our terrace, coroded paint on the bathroom heat radiator

Review 28:Very nice and helpfull staff Clean The possibility of making fresh orange juice at the breakfast

Review 29:Nothing in particular, however the bed was 2 singles pushed together (but I think that's quite common these days) and the shower was a little tight cubicle, however neither of these points detracted from the overall positive experience. We found Sicily itself quite expensive however. One further slight negative is the abandoned hotel next door - but this is no fault of the owners of the Arathena Rocks.

Review 30:We loved the location, far enough away from the town to be slightly secluded, the parking, the salt-water pool kept beautifully clean, the veranda overlooking the pool, volcanic rocks and sea beyond, the grassy area, the efficient and helpful staff. This rates as one of the best holiday experiences we have had for a while.

Review 31:Parking was limited and kept getting worse because the site is popularwith tour buses. When tour buses are there, between the noise fromspecial nighttime activities and the fact that the breakfast room isdensely occupied, others might not want to stay. Also, the ceiling fandidn't work and neither did the air conditioning with the excuseabout air conditioning being turned off after a certain date due toenergy costs, which didn't explain why we couldn't use theceiling fan either.

Review 32:The location was good and it was easy to access the highway to get toother locations. The room and facilities were pretty and wellmaintained. The price was reasonable as well.

Review 33:Rooms could be modernised a bit. Wine buying could be improved.

Review 34:All staff extremely friendly. Food varied and enjoyable. Hotel full of antique furniture, prints and paintings.

Review 35:not a four star in the quality of room decor, facilities, bathroom and service so **** naming is a misrepresentation. Consequently room price is not justifiable and is poor vfm

Review 36:views

Review 37:Remote location, with a scruffy access road leading up to the hotel. No foreign channels on TV, and mobile and Internet very erratic.

Review 38:Friendly, helpful staff

Review 39:Apart from one girl the reception staff were unfriendly. Bad smell in bathroom.

Review 40:Location was perfect. One receptionist was pleasant and helpful. Pool was nice. Breakfast waiters and cleaners pleasant.

Review 41:Lack of staff at breakfast. Running out of food at breakfast. Shuttle bus to Taormina stopped running in September, was not advised of this, very disappointed.

Review 42:Location Friendly staff

Review 43:Room could have been cleaner. We did not have enough towels forrooms. Front desk staff not always obliging. Pool area wonderful butperhaps better for older children. Take your own pool towels as thehotel charges.

Review 44:We loved the location, availability to local restaurants and how easy itwas to get around. Local people were really lovely and friendly. We alsotravelled with 4 adults and 2 kids under 2 and were given adjoiningrooms with access via the balconies which was fantastic.

Review 45:It is beside the sea but available only for swimmers and for snookering, because the water is deep.

Review 46:We spent one week in this very good hotel, the staff are friendly they can speak english. The breakfast delicious and they changed the towels every day.

Review 47:The building/room is very old and needs redevelopping. The surroundings of the hotels was not clean. The area around the pool was dirty and some empty drinks in the lounge area were left on the table for a whole day. Not worth the price

Review 48:The breakfast was good The room was clean but it as not clean outside the room. (pool,bar,...) Nice sight from the balcony

Review 49:The staff was extremely helpful especially Elisa. The location is away from the hustle and bustle of Via Lungomare which is great. The breakfast was absolutely wonderful...egg omelets in Italy are a rare find.

Review 50:Some of the rooms are really small. In fact unfortunately thosededicated for us, Bookingcom clients; from the hotel photos it seemslike to be there two pools. It is confusing. In fact there is only onepool . This is also used by the other people from the other neighboringhotels and apartments.

Review 51:Sicilian style hotel; very good location; beautiful surrounding area;restaurants near by; nice swim in the sea below the windows; a saltwaterpool is available; a quiet place to relax although the busy center isfairly close within walking distance.

Review 52:The food was very average. Most disappointing was the free shuttle to Taorimna. It is on their website, but they said they don't offer it anymore.

Review 53:Was off the beaten path, so not as busy. The pool is located Oceanside which made for a truly relaxing day. The hotel is filled with beautiful Sicilian antiques.

Review 54:Breakfast cd be improved.

Review 55:Location . Tranquil, access to pool and sea. Simple , attractive hotel, with traditionalItalian feel. Good value and nice spot for. Relaxing and beong lazy for a few days. Staff friendly and helpful.

Review 56:We were recommended to this hotel by two families who had stayed there often. What no-one apparently knew was that the hotel had changed hands in October 2012 and was no longer family owned. It now belongs to a group called 'Chincherini Holidays', who apparently found several problems which needed sorting out. On arrival there was a notice stating that pre-payment was required in full for the accommodation. It would appear that the in-house catering staff had been dispensed with and a Catering Company installed to run the Bar and Restaurant. We were asked for cash when we ordered our first drink. Fortunately we found Mikaela who said she would sort out a way of charging anything we needed in the bar and restaurant to a separate account, payable on departure. The Hotel is no longer Four Star, but has been down-graded, seemingly by Chincherini Holidays, to Three Star.

Review 57:Location - fantastic. Pool - clean and seawater. Receptionist, Manuela, was outstanding and we might well have left the hotel had it not been for her tact and understanding. Also Mikaela on the catering side who saved the day.

Review 58:To get hot water you had to let the water run for about 10 minutes and once it gets hot it was hard to control the water mixer to get the right balance for a warm shower. Also the brochure said the hotel had a bus that goes to Taormina twice a day but when we asked the reception for the bus the receptionist said it is not avaliable at that time of year. They should put that on the brochure too. The cafeteria that is also mentioned on the brochure is non excisting.

Review 59:The hotel has it's own private parking which takes away a big problem when in Naxos. Also the hotel is in a quiet area but still minutes away from restaurants and shops.

Review 60:wifi is only possible in the reception area.

Review 61:we had a balkoni with a side-view and it was great because it was about 30m2 !! The swimmingpool was perfect and there was created a possibilty to get into the seawater between the lava-rocks, right near the hotel.

Review 62:Wifi available in lobby only (however this is stated on booking). Lift is small. We were given a disabled room which meant the bathroom was difficult and uncomfortable to use.

Review 63:Eggs at breakfast. Cable TV. Balcony. Parking available on site. Good location.

Review 64:wi-fi in lobby just.

Review 65:cozy, a little bit old, but really good hotel with nice pool, and not noisy, but but god location near other restaurants, shops. Good breakfast.

Review 66:It has a fantastic location: close to the center but with charming privacy and fantastic feel and view of the sea and Taormina sights. The staff were very professional and kind, especially Manuela who made all the questions so easy to be sorted out. She is great!

Review 67:Would have been nice to have a fridge in room, as well as tea/coffee.

Review 68:Location was fabulous, relaxing atmosphere with wonderful water views. Restaurant was convenient and others were walking distance. Special mention - Manuella was such a warm and kind person who ensured that our stay was perfect. The supporting staff were also very helpful and simply added to the excellent experience.

Review 69:Nor easy to find on GPS. Strongly recomend map or directions on Web site .Waypoint are not correct

Review 70:Amazing .....we loved everything about this unique hotel , the staff , the room, the view

Review 71:Absolutely nothing -highly recommended.

Review 72:The location and views are superb. Both sunrise and moonlight at nightare just magic from the sea view rooms. Public areas are authenticItalian style -much better than soulless 4 star chain hotels. This hotelis a gem -the Mediterranean as it used to be. Hotel staff are realambassadors -keen to help and interested in you as a person. Goodbreakfast on a superb out door patio area with extensive shrubs andflowers. Rooms are spotless and clean if a bit basic but they are fullyair conditioned.

Review 73:no bus service to Taormina no minibar in room not near a good beach sea swimming only possible for adults and good swimmers food for breakfast not great evening dinner poor

Review 74:location.quiet.helpful staff.decor.parking.seawater swimming pool.

Review 75:Water of shower wasn't constant. So first warm then cold and so on. But most of the hotels in Sicily had this.

Review 76:The staff was very friendly and all spoke English. They gave us a free upgrade to a seaview room, which was great once we had the room. Everything was clean and decorated old fashion Italian(which I liked) It's almost like you are back in the '30's and you are a wealthy person in a hotel at sea. Space for parking was enough and free, WiFi was working well too. Breakfast was standard but more than ok, also Giardini Naxos is a perfect base to Taormina and Mt. Etna. It has a nice boulevard for shopping/dinner.

Review 77:dinner at extra cost is not very good, although it's reasonable.

Review 78:beautiful view, nice pool and garden. great place to forget about everything and just relax.

Review 79:The pressure of the water in the shower was unfortunately very poor, and it was difficult to adjust the hot/cold temperature of the water.

Review 80:We liked best the near location to the sea, and that we could swim in the sea just outside the hotel. We had a lovely room, with a nice balcony and a beautiful sea view. The hotel was located in a very quiet area, no disturbing noises. The hotel was nicely furnished with lots of antiques. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

Review 81:Breakfast is poor Bathroom needs renovation

Review 82:This ia a real piece of quietness, beauty, comfort and friendliness. If you are interested in a fantastic view from your window and a place for parking your car in these busy places 24 hours a day, great stuff members ready to help every moment you need it- this place is for you.Great design and reasonable prices. We recommend it for those Russians who can and love travelling on their own.

Review 83:Very nice hotel, with a beautiful terase ,a lot of flowers, staff friendly . Quiet place, very, very nice vue, sunrise on the sea everymorning. We like it a lot and we want to come back.

Review 84:From the moment we arrived the staff were wonderful to us, helpful and always accommodating. The room had a wonderful wiev from the terrace, and it was very clean and the beds quite ok. The hotel has a great swimming pool and a big area, which seems rarely used and the lava rock beach is very unique. The staff is helpfull and very friendly. We felt very relaxed and enjoyed the time spent in the hotel. You have to have a car to reach everything outside the hotel. Taormina is 7-8 minutes away with car. The breakfast was abundant and coffees were made to order, again helpful staff. The hotel has a lovely swimming pool, which seems rarely use. We would definite return to this hotel! We will absolutely recommend this hotel. It was wonderfull!

Review 85:The very quiet situation at the end of a dead-end street. The sea-view,the nice garden and pool. Good breakfast buffet. Very close to apleasant little beach, close to historical Taormina. To be recommended.

Review 86:The distance to bus Stop to Taormina - half an hour by foot.

Review 87:All was OK.

Review 88:restaurant

Review 89:situation, calme,beach, garden

Review 90:service is not 4 stars, maybe 2 stars.. bored receptionists, waiters...

Review 91:nice, relaxing location, clean, close to the city and Taormina, Etna

Review 92:No near transport if you have to weare sometning you need taxi.need more beach

Review 93:Servis,restoran diner, suraunding exotic..it is good for walking

Review 94:The pool needed a facelift.

Review 95:Nice hotel, nice pool and beach. Quite and relaxing. Away from the summer hassle noise.

Review 99:I didn't like the bed. I slept very bad there, because of this soft old bed.

Review 100:The location and the swimming pool.

Review 101:The setting - fabulous Really quiet location away from main roads swimming in sea immediately from hotel grounds Excellent friendly staff

Review 102:Vey friendly staff, clean, swimming pool, location, view etna or sea, ambiance

Review 103:Good location; very compenetent staff in the reception, very nice pool.

Review 104:The hotel does not accords with its description at booking.com (old furniture, old facility etc.)

Review 105:Bar facility was limited and slow. Breakfast was just ok.

Review 106:Good location with parking. Relatively inexpensive. Friendly and helpful staff. Quirky!
