Reviews for Sumilon Bluewater Island Resort

Review 1:I did not like the fact that the hotel was open to the public everyday for a 4 star I would want a bit more privacy . And the food was a bit hit and miss

Review 2:How close you were to seeing the whale sharks .

Review 3:I would not recommend this resort to any of my friends. It was over priced and not worth the money! It was our big splurge for our trip and we were extremely disappointed in the quality of the resort. We stayed at better resorts for a third of the price here. The photos look way better than in person because the beaches are trashed. The day trippers leave all their trash on the beach leaving it extremely ugly for us to enjoy. The bar area only had 3 stools to sit at. So being social with other guests while having a drink wasn't an option. Overall a great disappointment and will definitely not be going back.

Review 4:The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. The rooms were spacious and clean.

Review 5:too many geckos, insects and bugs in room which is annoying and the mosqutoes bit me a lot, feel very itchy!

Review 6:Nice view had a wonderful time there, staff were very friendly and helpful!

Review 7:Very poor beach, prices drinks and food were extremely expensive, much much more than resorts of similar price range. (Prices range from 3 to 5 times retail..)

Review 8:Resort itself was nice, new and well maintained.

Review 9:The staff were not too helpful with our luggages especially upon leaving the resort.

Review 10:The place was beautiful especially the beach! The rooms and bathrooms were very spacious. The resort staff were very courteous

Review 11:Nothing.

Review 12:The perfect nature at its best, the ammenities and the service of people given by the resort. The way God's creation was taken care and preserved.

Review 13:The staff were cursing the foreign guests in Filipino and assumed no one understood. The swimming pool is very dirty and you can feel mold growing Everything is over priced there yet food is subpar, no proper security is provided for those snorkeling near the sand bank or trekking, etc. Special trips by boat are way over priced. It made no sense that only a large bot (fit for 40 people) is required for a special trip of 2. A smaller boat should have been provided at a reasonable rate.

Review 14:There are plenty of free activities for inhouse guests, and the place is very relaxing to stay in for a few days

Review 15:The food is expensive and not that delicious. The breakfast buffet is terrible and a offers very few choices. Only one front desk personnel to attend to the numerous guests. No welcoming crew to greet the guests.

Review 16:The serenity of the place. The sandbar and the crystal clear water.

Review 17:I didnt like that everything was so inflated. A beer anywhere else is 45 pesos, but 200 on the island, same with things like a coconut, 200 pesos at sumillion but 20-30 pesos other places, i understand a need for it to be more expensive but to a degree, a 1500 pesos massage just left the massage tables empty, and they are so beautiful, going rate is 400-500 pesos for the same thing. Its an amazing spot and would be so much better if the cost difference was no so high, slightly higher okay but not off the charts

Review 18:The place is beautiful, it was all we wanted and since i didnt worry about a budget on this stay we enjoyed it very much.

Review 19:The hotel, however, was underwhelming. During our 2 weeks vacation in the Philippines we stayed in some wonderful resorts, and some mediocre resorts, and unfortunately, this was one of the mediocre resorts. Our experience showed that the "chain" resorts, or resorts that didn't have any nearby competition, just seemed lazy and ready to charge you for any extra little thing. The staff, while all very polite, just didn't put forth any effort to make our stay special. The restaurant food was made to look very pretty, but it tasted bland and we kept wondering if it had all been frozen and simply warmed up for us to eat for our meal.

Review 20:The location was truly a paradise. The most beautiful place I have ever been. I will definitely want to go back to the island, but I won't be staying in their hotel again.

Review 21:The glamping tents were grouped together in a corner making privacy a but of an issue... There was only 1 hot water shower working... Other than that - it's good. Be prepared to pay for anything you use - I guess that's the way they make additional income

Review 22:Loved the island and the 30 min boat ride from the mainland... We stayed in the glamping tents which were pretty cool.. The staff are simply amazing and engaging. Chris makes great cocktails at the bar!

Review 23:While the food tasted fine, there was not enough variety on the menu. It was the same items for lunch and dinner for all four days we were there.

Review 24:Good snorkeling off the beach, whale shark watching, hiking trails and a small lagoon with fishing and kayaking provided enough activities for everyone.

Review 25:Too expensive (consider there's one single restaurant so you don't have any choice and they can charge you whatever they want), service was ridiculously slow (though the staff were never rude or negative),

Review 26:The room was amazing (2 bed room villa with private pool BUT cost 34.200 pesos for 5 people, 1 night), the beaches were nice but very rocky

Review 27:Experience was disturbed by problems on our last day. Charges were inaccurate and had to be corrected three times. Staff forgot to call us for shuttle transfer to boat.

Review 28:Amazing location and very friendly staff. The scenery on the island is great. A la carte food was good but slightly overpriced.

Review 29:Breakfast buffet consist mainly of bread, very small chunks of butter, paper thin cheese, hard boiled eggs, cereal only. The room we stayed in was very old, with small box type tv. The beach are full of corals, swimming is impossible.

Review 30:The view is amazing. the staff are courteous. The Marine sanctuary has beautiful corals.

Review 31:I felt like I was robbed with the very expensive but not tasty food. Even the breakfast buffet was a so-so..it could have been something to look forward to had they prepared cebu delicacies such as cebu chorizo, danggit, etc. It will also be a tourist come on if they include in the packahe the oslob experience, we went there for that and the sumilon trip was a just our side trip that turned out very expensive. A separate pricing for local tourist will do a good come on. The cottage we stayed in was what made the trip worthwhile. Cottage no. 2.

Review 32:The regular deluxe rooms are olded and dated. But four of these rooms have already been renovated. The surrounding area could be kept cleaner. The biggest disappointment for me was the breakfast. You get so little for such a nice resort. Wish they offered some filipino breakfast food. But food from the menu was pretty good.

Review 33:Make sure to book the premier deluxe rooms. These are newer and brighter and cleaner. Request for the room with clear view of the ocean. Make sure to do the trek up to the light house because the view will be worth it. The staff was very accomodating and friendly. They make you feel right at home. I would surely be going back to this island paradise.

Review 34:Deluxe room was a disappointment as it was a bit old and full of geckos and insects that could find their way in. Maybe premiere delux and villas are more comfortable but expensive. Food was average and there was not much choice especially for children, but staff were flexible and tried to make sandwiches on special request

Review 35:Location, scenery, beach, lovely views. Lovely, friendly and helpful staff and good internet speed, Accommodating staff Nice trekking in the forest

Review 36:Food is a little disappointing considering the price.

Review 37:Enormous rooms right on the shore. A beautiful scenic and private island resort.

Review 38:Too few boat departures : outside of it, we have to pay

Review 39:Amazing location & careful staff

Review 40:It is just not so easy to get there... But that's the trade off for the greatness :)

Review 41:The location, the nature, the staffs are great

Review 42:The food is not so good especially breakfast buffet.

Review 43:The place is quiet and peaceful.

Review 44:The relaxation and the peacefulness

Review 45:Facility is not worthy of this high price. Swimming pool is unsatisfying.

Review 46:Scenery is quite good.

Review 47:None

Review 48:Staff professionalism and service rooted to please patrons with most doable and possible solutions.

Review 49:traffic is a little problem

Review 50:all

Review 51:All villas/appartments need to be refreshed (cracks on the walls etc..)

Review 52:Staff Location

Review 53:No bellboy come to help for luggage on leave

Review 54:Gogerous seaview

Review 55:White sandbar, crystal clear waters, secluded place, nice and serene atmosphere, plenty to do in the island.

Review 56:The foods are not good.

Review 57:The staff didnt give us full information that we need to arrange alsothe transfer from their wharf to the whale-watching site. They just toldus the cost of the whale-watching. Goid thing there was a tricycle tobring us to the site. Their other guests rode in vans which were pre-booked by the guests in tge resort because they were told.

Review 58:They keep whatever you left and send them back to you. I left myeyeglasses and they sent it to my home.

Review 59:They charged us for extra head of our 14 yr-old even if there was no extra bed set-up needed. Food was expensive. Beach was rocky.

Review 60:Staff were helpful and organized. Food was good and room was spacious and comfortable.

Review 61:The staff was treating the resort like it was made for them not the guest, simple boring food whit looong waiting time, breakfast just a joke e.g. fruit was not filled untill all pieces where gone so there would lay 1 piece of smashed Water mellon on the plate for half hour, the "Beach" hard coral sand and even harder if trying the Water, not really påossible to enjoy swimming from the hotel without using boat. a oversize generator is making noise 24/7. it feels like a place where the owner is letting untrained staff run the place. oooh yeah and way overpriced. Do not trust the Photos from this place they are NOT giving the right impression.

Review 62:Dykke muligheder fra båd og udsigt ved High tide

Review 63:1.) We find the price of the food and beverage a bit over the top (expensive for our budget). Maybe not expensive for foreigners (-: (2.) When we went snorkelling early morning on the eastern side of the resort, there were two fishermen trying to catch fish using fishing hooks with baits. If we have a choice, we would like a total ban of any kind of fishing method inside that area. However, we also understand the predicament of small time fishermen, where they need fish for viands. (3.) maybe it is good to have a foot bath in front or beside each room unit, so that the guests can wash their feet before entering the room. This will save energy for house cleaning

Review 64:We liked the island with its natural beauty, still with birds, roosting bats in the mangrooves, and substantially marine life. Kayaking was serene and fun. The room (premiere deluxe) we stayed was very nice and the modern design was impressive. Sand bar area in the western side was very nice for our late afternoon dip. Very courteous and accomodating staff

Review 65:food and beverages are very overpriced, it's not a value for money. the beach is very dirty and nobody seems to bother to clean it (floating bottles, plastic bottles and bags, etc.)

Review 66:location, swimming, marine life, attitude

Review 67:the place were maintain but i think the some of the facilities were getting old and needs to be refurbished ... i still love it though

Review 68:the staff were genuinely nice and kind :)

Review 69:Since there was a tropical depression when we were there, the waves were strong.. The beach was full of rocks which is quite painful to our feet. Hope they'll clean the beach when the weather gets better.

Review 70:I love the privacy of the island, the food were awesome(pricey but understandable since its far from mainland), and the huge comfy cottage/room. Definitely a place for couples who craves for privacy since they limit the number of guests within the island..

Review 71:The road on island is not good.

Review 72:you can take the bus to the oslob mainland and then there's a reception on the mainland, free boat transfer between mainland to island in every 1.5 hour. Good island for scenery, room and food.

Review 73:Beautiful and peaceful resort with perfect view. Staff was attentive and accommodating. Ideal get away for a family or couple.

Review 74:Food is overrated too expensive for less variety esp the bfast

Review 75:Big rooms great place

Review 76:Staff did not give clear informatin about the hotel facilities. The push for consumption.

Review 77:The place, the hotel

Review 78:Tv location in our room quite far from our bed; room amenities may be upgraded

Review 79:Good food; Pleasantly surprised!
