Reviews for Atahotel Naxos Beach

Review 1:The air conditioner in the room blows the air right on your head while you are sleeping. We both got sick- me and my husband. Also, the food is not kind of you expect from the 4 star hotel. For example, the fish they serve is always bone-in, not the fillet. Also, the dinner is limited for 2 hours for all the guests, what makes it crazy crowded.

Review 2:Location is beautiful. Beach is nice, but you need beach shoes, as stones make it hard to walk. The garden is amazing - olive, lemon trees and flowers are amazing

Review 3:didnt like the fact that sunbeds on the beach were against payment , as were the beach towels....sunbeds by the pool were free of charge but since they had no mattresses, they were too uncomfortable to spend more than two hours on them....and since the purpose of my visit was to spend as much time as i could relaxing on the beach or by the pool, i found this to be really disappointing....if it wasnt for this problem, i would say the hotel was excellent....also, shuttle service was not available when we were there in october

Review 4:i liked the view from our room...fantastic garden and seaview...very helpful reception staff, especially Daniela

Review 5:House seems to be from 70s-80s. You hear the neighbors in the shower.

Review 6:Nice garden with many palmtrees. Nice beach. Nice breakfast. Coffeemachine makes quite good espresso & cappucino. We were in October when it's not so crowded.

Review 7:It is my worst experince with hotels ever. Old hotel and old furniture. Very poor service at reception No room service No mini bar at rooms Very cold vilas and when you ask for blanket they do not respond.

Review 8:Nothing

Review 9:Walls are paper thin in bedrooms Restaurant is huge and breakfast v disappointing. No fresh fruit salad. No freshly cooked eggs. Coffee awful. Tea warm. Bar huge and no atmosphere.

Review 10:Staff very friendly

Review 11:Quite a walk to the town "center" (the marina, most restaurants etc.), the buildings are quite old and some renovation of the interiors might be nice, sunbeds and towels at the beach are paid (so we didn't use them) :) , breakfasts are OK but some variations and some local delicacies would be nice, very small elevators.

Review 12:Directly by the beach, nice big garden, great view from the room (the sea & Taormina), room cleaning and towels changed everyday, the service was generally OK, cocktails in the bars were strong :) and there's some live music in the evenings.

Review 13:The gym equipment needs updating

Review 14:Beautiful hotel gardens immaculately cared for. 2 great pools and lovely beach.people have said it's old fashioned, it is a little but that's why we loved it. So clean and we'll kept. We returned a week later for our final night!

Review 15:Hair dryers are so disfunctional. No cattle in the room.

Review 16:It is so green, beatiful trees in the garden. Has a nice beach. This hotel is much nicer than the Hilton in the same place.

Review 17:The bathroom smelled like drain/septic. The wifi was slow. The early taxi reserved two days in advance to go to the airport and train station never showed and the hotel didn't know how to reach another one. There was only one unused plug in my room, for business travel I usually need at least two (I had to unplug lamps). Two of the three elevators were too small for my colleague's wheelchair, though I had exchanged several emails with the property and with booking.com that we needed his location to be wheelchair accessible; having to wait for one specific elevator each time isn't exactly wheelchair accessible and people shouldn't be relegated to the service elevator around back (so don't advertise as wheelchair accessible or put us elsewhere on the property...). The ATM was broken for four days and it is not possible to use a credit card at the hotel restaurants and bars.

Review 18:The property grounds are lovely and the breakfast was okay.

Review 19:For a hotel which hosts major professional conferences it was rather strange for instance that it wasn't possible to borrow an iron to iron clothes in the room. The breakfast was rather limited and uninspiring; some fresh cut fruit would have been nice rather than canned fruit. Also the coffee from a machine wasn't very good. The worst part for me was the loud live music right below my balcony which kept me up until past midnight every night - not ideal when you have to get up for work in the morning. The area of Giardini Naxos is not very nice and the beaches aren't nearly as lovely as the coves in nearby Taormina.

Review 20:Nice grounds, ok facilities

Review 21:Limited eating facilities in resort and expensive. Gardens and lawns need attention. No flat screen TV and reception for existing set poor.

Review 22:Comfortable enough accommodation for the price as we were not in the actual Hotel but away from it in a room with a large bathroom. Very clean and quiet.

Review 23:Food in beach bar could be better

Review 24:Beach, diving centre, tasty breakfast, very clean and comfortable hotel, few bars and cafe available with live music every evening

Review 25:Cold scrambled eggs for breakfast every day. It became a running joke, even when the tray just came in and there was a smoke coming out of it - it was still cold. All in all breakfast was a very stressful experience. It lasts until 10 in the Parco restaurant, and we usually came around 9:40 - many items were already gone, and the staff was already cleaning the tables.. even when the guests were still at them. My parents had their food taken from their plates, when they still ate (I'm not kidding!), and it was 9:45 (and the doors to the restaurant were still open, as they shut them down precisely at 10).Food variety really poor, especially for a 4 star hotel. Cold scrambled eggs every day. Not so fresh looking salad, decent cucumbers, some ricotta, lots of sweet croissants, watered down juice, jams, milk, cereal. Sausages, cheese and ham - if you were lucky enough to still get some. Not too many healthy options.Everything in the hotel was terribly expensive, and not in a fair way. There were two restaurants close to the reception. For the same, regular can of Coke we paid 2.50, then 3.50 and finally 4 Euro in the evening. We kept the receipts, finding it both embarrassing and funny.Luckily there are 2 shops and plenty restaurants nearby, just outside the hotel. Still a bit overpriced (it's a tourist place after all), but in a more decent way, and sometimes even half cheaper than what the hotel offered. If you stay in the villas - be wary of mosquitos and ants. There are billions of them on the lower grounds. You can buy some anti-mosquito sprays in their local shop, but it is - of course - terribly overpriced.Lots of the staff really unfriendly and some pretty rude, even when you came to them with a smile and just a regular question. One of them even shouted at us. It was because we asked for help at the parking and they said a guy will be coming outside for us.

Review 26:The garden is amazing and well kept, and so are facilities around the objects (like toilettes near pools, bars etc.) and all of the pools (although the water is really cold). The olympic pool is really great. Even though the rooms are old and not pretty, the bathroom is functional, clean, and everything worked more or less properly. Still, the villas are a 2 star standard at best, and not every one of them. Great parking - every car will have a good place. Wi-Fi is available only at the pool and reception area. This is not very convenient, but fortunately where it was - it worked great, and there were plenty of electric sockets there, so we could work a bit on our laptops when we needed to.

Review 27:No real issues. The garden rooms are a walk from the main building, beach entrance and swimming pools but that helped walk off some of the Italian food! No kettle in the room which was disappointing for early morning coffee on the balcony.

Review 28:Great hotel in a great location. Stayed in the garden rooms which were pretty and peaceful. Breakfast was large and comprehensive and there was a small fridge in the room. Maid service every day with clean towels provided. There are shops and Pizzerias just outside the hotel if you don't want to walk into Giardini Naxos (15 minutes).

Review 29:Everything else - we paid for a 4 stars hotel but actually the villas are equivalent to a 2 stars accomodation also in terms of services - there is no wi-fi in the villas - the furniture is ugly and old - there is no air conditioning in the kids room: only an old fan! - the cleaning is done in a rush and with no attention. Result: it is always dirty

Review 30:Location is not bad and exteriors are well kept

Review 31:The refrigerator didn't work well in our room, and they didn't fix it when we complained (maybe they tried). The air condition's had a problem in the last two days, and didn't function at all. The hair drier should be changed, it takes hours to dry your hair - week and not hot enough.

Review 32:This is an old type hotel with the advantage of the size of the room, and there is an extra door between the room's door and the bedroom - it helps in soundproofing. The garden, the pools, the beachside are just amazing. Everything is super clean and tidy. The buffet breakfast was the same every day, but delicious. Altough officially the wifi doesn't work in the rooms, just in the lobby, we tried it, and it worked well (we were in the main building). The hotel shuttle to Taormina was very convenient. We tried the Antonio boat excursion, and that was our best program, and for a very good price, I strongly suggest it. You can book it either in the hotel or on the private beach. It worths to spend for a sea view room, the view is just fantastic. There are a lot of small restaurants and a good supermarket nearby.

Review 33:The food wasn't very good and the rooms are very basic for the price being charged. Wifi only works in hotel reception and is very slow.

Review 34:Baby club and kids club staff were brilliant and so was the evening entertainment.

Review 35:The bungalow room for 3 persons was rather dark.

Review 36:Very nice surroundings, everthing kept very clean. Buffet excellent, waiters very efficient. Frequent and free shuttle bus to Taormina.

Review 37:Rooms was clean but everything was old and need to be repaired and updated. The swimming pool closes too early.

Review 38:Great territory with many Citrus trees, wonderful view in etna , tasty dinners , clean and transparent sea, big parking.

Review 39:wifi access

Review 40:The territory of the hotel is like a sightseen - flower everywhere, lemons, oranges and etc. Moreover, it is very big. We lived in bungalo near the sea, so everything was close to us. Breakfasts were nice, great olympic swimming pool.

Review 41:The hotel rooms are really old-fashioned with carpet on the floor. It looks like the rooms are the same as 20 years ago. Hotel is really overrated and overpriced! For this price you could book a much better hotel. Further, you have to pay for the sunbeds on the private beach, which is ridiculous! It's more an out-dated all inclusive massive hotel full of Russian people. No recommendation if you don't want all-inclusive.

Review 42:The villas are not up to the standard of a four star hotel. Better choose to stay in the hotel building.

Review 43:Very professional and responsive staff!!! I was impressed by their attitude!

Review 44:Beach sunbed booking system was unusual? Long waits to make booking. A more open first come first served method may be better.

Review 45:Wonderful garden setting and very friendly staff, perfect for relaxing. Liked the internal credit card payment system.

Review 46:Far from anywhere. Public transportation really disturbing, you need to wait too much, bus stop is 15 minutes walking distanbce. Giardini 30 minutes walking distance. Taormina 45 minutes ( inc bus ride ) . Noboy know how you can go " savoca " for visting God Father infamous bar.. But half of the gift items including God Father theme. You are superb lucky if you can find someone speaks " english" . Rude people, excursions are " legal robbing " You are paying 70 EUR pp for island tours ( 5 Hours in the bus ) Nothing to see. Etna tours 35 EUR, then you need to pay 30 EUR more for cable car.. then you need to pay 30 EUR more for tour guide . Otherwise you need to wait for 3 hours and eat disaster pizza. Really a huge dissappoinment, hotel & all Sicily.

Review 47:Only the hotel is clean.

Review 48:if you are person enjoy breakfast, you will not in here. its always same, only one type of chesee (considering you are in italy it could be even 10 :) ), no olive.

Review 49:great nature, super clear sea, very quite. a place you can go and relax.

Review 50:It was very big. I would prefer a hotel with a smaller number of people. We have to pay umbrella for every day for 10 to 15 euro/day, dependsfrom the row. Its better to include in the price of the hotel.Furthermore, this thing it was not written in the information of thehotel nor in booking neither in web or hotel. We had to pay every dayfor the towels. In the booking was written : you have to take the towelsonly by the deposit fee.

Review 51:No wifi in the villas, just in the lobby and only 5 h for free, excessive time is payable; Breakfast is very poor; Rooms in the villas are in need for renovation, hair dryers are terribly old and almost not functioning, the rooms are very modest, would be ok for 2-3 star and for not more than 100 eur.

Review 52:The gardens were well kept and a big area to walk around, villas are situated the way that u dont feel that there are too many people, though the hotel was fully booked at the time of our stay. Close to the beach. Taormini is a real gem, loved it!

Review 53:- Not working air conditioning in the room for a week, with no room replacement suggested by reception, when it's 40 degrees C outside; - Not working toilet in the room, with repairs required all the time; - Poor breakfast; - Smell in the restaurant; - Pool opening time after 9.30 (metal barriers are blocking the entrance);

Review 54:no cushions in pool area and stuff in recepcion not friendly at all poor wifi shower not to much Pressure ecc ecc not worth it for the moeny we spend and they should adjust how it looks on booking . com

Review 55:The breakfast is very basic and you will fedd up after 4-5 days with the same food. No fresh tomato, olives, peperoni etc. (in Sicily in summer!) The price of the hotel is on the high side and you have to pay extra for beach umbrella, chairs, Internet !!!. The wall are thin (you can be disturbed by the people next door) Also, Giardini di Naxos is quite dirty and ill maintained as a summer sea resort.

Review 56:The hotel facilities are very good. The sea is also very nice. For families with children is recommended (various entrainment options for kids). For people looking some quietness is debatable (means not recommended).

Review 57:When I arrived {an exhausted elderly granny who had driven about 200 kms with 3 young grandchildren} I had to wait about 15 minutes before there was someone free at the front desk to check us in. The flatlet was adequate and clean but we were surprised to find no Wi-Fi. We had stayed the previous evening in a much less prestigious hotel with wi fi in the bedrooms. The fan in the childrens' bedroom didn't work. Unfortunately we discovered this too late to ask for it to be repaired. All in all, the Euros 130 I spent for us in a 3 star hotel the previous night was much better value than the Euros 300 plus I spent in this hotel. Sorry but I'd definitely not recommend this place to friends.

Review 58:The swimming pool was lovely and well maintained, the grounds were nicely kept, the outside staff were friendly and helpful

Review 59:The fact that originally we had chosen a seaview, then changed our mind and cancelled and rebooked a gardenview. When we arrived we were told that our booking was cancelled but the receptionist told us that we will be upgraded to a seaview. So really, this is an observation rather than something we did not like. The booking was made online. Another strange thing is that we were told that the towels were on deposit and not a cost of 1 euro. Bit silly that, and embarrassing when we handed in our towels. Thank God for the upgrade otherwise we would not have enjoyed it as much.

Review 60:I liked the extreme cleanliness, the varied buffet (Executive Chef very talented and also Maitre d' is excellent). Room was very clean, pool and deck spotless, reception very responsive and grounds vast and welcoming. All in all an amazing and relaxing break.

Review 61:Some facilities were alreday closed (mid October).

Review 62:The uggrade of our room upon our arrival.

Review 63:The views of my room.

Review 64:There was rests of food behind the furniture that looked like was there for ages... The stuff was rude, not very helpful.

Review 65:Would have been greatly enhanced by a power shower

Review 66:Facilities were excellent and everything was very clean

Review 67:Beautiful location

Review 68:Mosquitoes Little bit old

Review 69:Breakfast

Review 70:The hotel has seen better days, it need urgent renovation. Old furniture, CRT TV, no Wifi in rooms, etc

Review 71:Not much

Review 72:Beach and Pools were fabulous!

Review 73:Flush was leaking, I told twice and nobody came to fix it.

Review 74:Location, facilities , clean beack, care and safety on beach

Review 75:Personal, rooms, dirty, bathrooms , rooms very very old, tv very very very old, prices very very big,

Review 76:NO COFFEE MACHINE AT THE ROOM.WE BOTH ARE COFFEE DRINKERS.

Review 77:TOPPING THE DOOR KEY CARD WITH CASH MONEY,ACCORDING TO GUESTS BUDGET.

Review 78:No changing cabin on the beach

Review 79:a great resort , wish we could have stayed longer , buffet breakfast

Review 80:Expensive beach services.

Review 81:Comfort in villas.

Review 82:No normal coffee only ugly nestle machine during breakfast

Review 83:Location

Review 84:Having to pay extra for beach towels & sunbed at the beach. No atmosphere in dining room and very slow to clear tables

Review 85:Food good hotel cleann

Review 86:To big and many people

Review 87:the walls are thin so you can hear noise from rooms to side and above

Review 88:swimming pool fantastic

Review 89:no ablitliy to pay with cash only swipe cards.

Review 90:hotel was not a damp bungalows are near the beach many pools and gardens

Review 91:Atahotel Naxos Beach was a typical big hotel in a touristy area. It was OK but not great value for money, with bad wi-fi service and noisy (but thorough!) cleaning crews -- not so great to wake up to if you didn't sleep well.

Review 92:Because we like swimming, is what great to have a cabin next to an Olympic-sized outdoor pool (which was mostly empty). As for the rest: the room was clean, the bed comfortable, the surrounding lemon and orange trees beautiful, the customer service pretty good and the location convenient for trips to NE Sicily and Etna.

Review 93:Opening hours of pools etc are a bit short - 10:00-18:00 - I'd have liked 07:00-21:00 instead.

Review 94:Olympic size pool beach facilities (canoes, windsurfing)

Review 95:You should be careful when off-season, because baby-club is not working, no special food. Special food (like diet) for mother and baby is not present. You should request it each time. For us it was hard to explain to stuff our needs (50% speak only Italian), hard to find people (the rest 50% with English) when necessary. Some bungalos are not so quiet, but 7xx-8xx numbers are ideal for family with baby. Rooms in main building are noisy, doors and walls are made from paper, surely; you can hear everything. Broken scales, water taps are with huge scratches, arrrgh...

Review 96:Sea view, large territory, rooms in bungalo were changed by request. Food is good, fish was awesome. You can take a free bus to Taormina and back. Large parking lot.

Review 97:Location - short walk from the bus stop. Very comercial neighbourhood, everything made just for tourists (shops, restaurants) so the prices are quite high. Renting of the beach towels?! Breakfast always the same.

Review 98:The beach - part of the hotel, very nice. Room and balcony were perfect, clean, great view. Staff was nice.

Review 99:Accommodations were excellent. We are are a mature couple and the resort was very easy to get around. Staff was very helpful and the grounds and the ocean were just what we were expecting.

Review 100:We had only breakfast included, first two days it was ok, but through the week every single morning just excactly the same food - that was a disappointment. For us it was the only thing we did not like - the hotel should concern it very seriuously to offer more variable food to their clients.

Review 101:We liked very much your big and nice garden, good pool, and the seaside was excellent! We like very much snorkling, but at that beach/sea there is nothing to see - you have to take a bus to Isola Bella for that (just before Taormina)! We were very happy that we did not take our young children to the trip - just few steps to the see and the water was over our heads... So, familys with young children should take this into account. Rooms were comfortable, but nothing special. The aim of our trip was to enjoy beach, weather, nature and it was ok to our expectations (certainly ok for resting and sleeping). Taormina is very near, just few km by bus. Bus stop was also very near to the hotel. Giardini Naxos is nice little place where are plenty of different restorans.

Review 102:Our room smelled musty even with the air conditioning. The latter was also too loud. my husband speaks italian and every reception staff we dealt with were abrupt and did a poor job in explaining the facilities and how to use the room key for meals etc. The system of loading your card with cash is very inconvenient and should be replaced. Buffet dinners were expensive and did not include quality meats. Dining room was chaotic. Perhaps they were short staffed.

Review 103:Gardens and pool are well kept.

Review 104:1. WiFi did not worked properly 2. We have ordered taxi to airport in the hotel one day before check-out. The taxi was later for 30 min. Taxi driver explained that nobody informed taxi company in advance. When we came to receprion asking why there is no taxi, only then hotel employees forwarded our order to the taxi company. It was great luck that we were able to catch the flight.

Review 105:Dining time.....too strict & too early.....till 9pm in summer ?!?!? Beach area must be more organised. Il bagnino shouted with people Cos they used the front row deckchairs at 6pm.....unbelivable !!!!

Review 106:Location Room Greenery Cleanliness

Review 107:Nothing as every thing I needed was available

Review 108:Good location, nice garden surroundings, nice villas and privacy, good entertainment and there is any thing you need from sports to excursions

Review 109:No wifi in room!!!!! Not good at all for this level of resort Parking is a nightmare Poor breakfast

Review 110:Olympie pool Free scuba diving for kids Gardens

Review 111:During our weeklong stay, we didn´t see one smile from the staff in reception or bars/restaurants. It is the least friendly place we have ever stayed.

Review 112:Nice facilities, spacious garden, easy access to pools and beach.

Review 113:Everything was great.

Review 114:It is absolutely stunning because of all the gardens it has around, it feels like you are in a proper countryside. Having read all the reviews we have decided to stay in the main building and have never regretted it! Saw some villas but were not impressed by the lack of sny windows in the ground floor villas' flats. Breakfast is average, but sufficient for us, did not have dinner, and really liked Olympic swimming pool, so huge!!! Hotel close to beach, and there is plenty of space if you want to hire the sunbeds etc or whether you wish to be on your beach towels. Gardini Naxos is a nice small village, but you will get bored there pretty quickly, but otherwise it is ok.

Review 115:At evenings (from 9 PM till 12 AM and even later) it is impossible to fall asleep because of loud music from discotheque and other parties. Wi-Fi internet access costs 3 euro for 1 hour! (that's right, not a GB).

Review 116:Friendly staff and great organization.

Review 117:There are a lot of mosquitoes on the grounds given the extensive gardens. If you choose to stay in the villas, be prepared to get bitten. We moved to the main building after we had more than 20 bites from one night in the villa and there were no mosquitoes after that.

Review 118:The staff were very helpful. It has a lovely beach with a gorgeous back drop of Mount Etna. Breakfast was good with lots of choices. Location was easy to day trip by car.

Review 119:The whole place is generally over priced, the so called villas are morelike chalets from butlins in the 1970's and we were given one whichwas too far away from the main complex, they did give us a better roombut then tried to charge us an extra €400 , the hotel insisted onpayment up front , and when we were not happy with the room, we asked tobe refunded, we were told this was most definitely not possible as webooked with booking.com, even though we paid the hotel directly onarrival, I would certainly never stay at this hotel again

Review 120:The hotel has a nice pool, the hotel rooms are clean and wellmaintained, some staff are friendly

Review 121:Because the hotel is so big it does feel a bit impersonal. While thefood was good the buffet style meals don't allow for a relaxed mealwith everyone rushing around all the time. As we visited there early Maywe were also disappointed to find that not all of the facilities wereopen (such as Olympic pool closed and beach chairs unavailable)

Review 122:The hotel is really clean and well run with beautiful pools andgardens. It's well worth taking a room with a sea view as you get alovely view of not only the sea but also of the pool, gardens and MtEtna. I'd recommend it for families or older people as there arevery few steps.

Review 123:Garden is nice. Sportfacilities are very good. Beach is super.

Review 124:Access via a narrow side street.

Review 125:The facilities e.g. swimming pools, tennis courts and access to the beach and gardens were excellent.

Review 126:the garden and the facilities especially the olimpic swimming pool

Review 127:The breakfast is rather poor, there are not too many food options in the morning. Having the same breakfast every day during a 2 week stay is boring.

Review 128:organisation/admin can be a bit mixed and confusing. ( a minor quibble)

Review 129:beautiful grounds and good facilities. nice location

Review 130:no free wi-fi at the hotel or anywhere else in Giardini Naxos, the breakfast was poor.

The Fine Print
