Set on 27 acres in the heart of the Clare Valley, this motel was the recipient of the 2012 South Australian Tourism Silver Medal. It offers a saltwater swimming pool, a restaurant and a BBQ area surrounded by trees and birdlife. The peaceful Clare Valley Motel is 10 minutes' walk from the Riesling Trail and the centre of Clare.
Featuring a log fire, the cosy Top of the Hill restaurant serves local and western specialities. Room service meals can be requested for breakfast and dinner. Guests can access internet at the property’s business centre.
Each of the air-conditioned guest rooms offer a flat-screen TV with cable channels, a refrigerator and tea/coffee making facilities. All include an en suite bathroom with a shower and a hairdryer.
Motel Clare Valley is a 20-minute drive from the town of Auburn and from the Auburn Art Gallery. It is a 30-minute drive from the historic mining town of Burra.

Review 1：The room was very well presented and good value for the cost of a one night stay. The meal at the in house restaurant was one of the best we had on our recent trip and the staff at the motel were very friendly and accommodating.

Review 4：I would have given a bigger score for cleanliness if it weren't for ALL THE SPIDERS in the bathroom and even in bed...obviously the cleaners don't look higher than eye level!!!
Review 5：Portacot had no linen, and the mattress base had disintegrated! We ended up putting a quilt from the storeroom as a mattress in the middle of the night. AC unit is in the kitchenette & doesn't cool the main room well as it reaches temp in the kitchenette & the thermostat kicks out.

Review 10：Were offered a late checkout. But the next morning were asked when we were leaving and then had a phone call asking us to leave early. Not enough to make us not go back but kind of ruined the end of a great trip.

Review 13：Clare Valley Motel is an excellent example of maintaining an old motel to very high standards. Rooms are flawless. Bright sun, well appointed, modern fixtures. Just great. Pool is beautifully maintained. A real treasure for the price. The best in the valley I would say.

Review 27：We arrived very wet from our motorbike ride. Receptionist was extremely welcoming, treated us warmly and with total respect. Was unconcerned about our condition in respect to their facilities. It was an honour to be there.

Review 31：This place exceeded our expectations. We were expecting it to be more like an old fashion motel, however it wasn't. Rooms are very clean and modern. Grounds are beautiful and there is a great pool and BBQ area.

Review 73：Bed quite hard as were the pillows. Pillows weren't just firm they were hard. Restaurant needs to learn how to cook Kangaroo, its served rare and with out a hard outside crust. Had to ask for a Steak Knife. Ordered a white wine and the Waitress brought out and started pouring a Red Wine, for heavens sake. Then she comes back and tells me they are out of the wine we ordered.

Review 78：The Clare Valley Motel was a beautiful escape away from Adelaide. It was very close to all the Clare wineries and the staff (and the whippet) were lovely. The room was cosy and comfortable and we were told to leave the heater on which made it beautifully warm when we came back after dinner. There was also an electric blanket so that was nice (I get cold easily). Free unsecured wifi was available in the rooms.
Review 79：Evening meal was disappointing, ordered the fish , lots of bones , then Had to wait to order something else as waitress explained all the was from same batch and would all have bones. I had to watch my husband eat his meal ( if he waited his meal would go cold) then he watched me eat my meal . Disappointingly no offer of free drink etc while I waited.very loud air conditioner ( a real rattle box) hard to sleep .
Review 80：Restaurant menu was pricey. Spa (although it was great) had made a hissing noise like air was escaping from an attachment on the rim of the bath. On our last night, one set of jets also stopped working.

We ate at the restaurant for dinner which was nice and romantic. Great hot water for a Clare winter. On arrival the owner had already put the heating on for us in our room. We felt really welcome.

Review 103：The Clare Valley Motel was perfect and I could find nothing to fault. Lee and Jan are great hosts who really care about their guests. The Motel is about 20 minutes walk from the centre of Clare - slightly longer coming back as it is uphill. Alternatively a taxi takes less than 5 minutes at a cost of around $A8. The property is Motel style - the name is a bit of a clue! - and the rooms and furnishings are not luxurious which you would not expect at the very good prices charged. They are however, spacious, very comfortable and catered for everything I needed. Excellent breakfasts and I thoroughly enjoyed my evening meal on the one night it was available - the restaurant is not open for dinner on Saturday and Sunday. My stay was wine tasting focused and the location worked very well with half a dozen tasting rooms within walking distance. It is also no more than 5 minutes walk to reach the Riesling Trail and the nearest cycle hire company. Overall a thoroughly enjoyable stay and if as I hope I am able to return to Clare, I would not look for an alternative place to stay.

We were here in autumn so we didn't get to use thepool, but the whole bbq area, tables and layout of the pool area isbeautiful. In summer they use this instead of the restaurant whenweather permits so visitors can dine under the stars. I really want toreturn to experience this!! The owners bought this property when it hadbeen neglected and have done a fantastic job in bringing up to it'scurrent standard. Would happily stay again and 3 and a half stars is ajoke...I've stayed in far worse 4 star accom.
